It's nothing special, I was doing 60km when I suddenly realized the car in front of me was getting closer than it should. Then I subconsciously entered the zone. I saw my speedometer was at a constant 60, we were going up a hill but it wasn't steep enough for him to slow down as much as he was for no reason. I had enough time to check my rear view mirror to see that there was a car behind me, but I processed in my mind that I didn't know if there was a car in my blind spot and that I wouldn't have time to turn my head to check and if there was a vehicle I wouldn't have time to indicate and switch lanes without the risk of plowing sideways into someone. It took less than 2 seconds for me to process this, so I slammed on my breaks and pulled the hand break. I stopped before crashing and the guy behind me stopped before crashing into me, but the guy behind him didn't and rear ended him. Turned out a squirrel ran in front of the car in front of me and he slammed his breaks to avoid running it over.

Because something ends up making you too self-conscious and snaps you out of it. Whenever I would play OSU I would always try to beat my highscore and always fuck up whenever I look at my score. I only ever broke my highscore when I neglected to look at it but something would tip me off that I had beaten my highscore and I'd become hyperaware of everything like the positioning of my hands or tempo of my fingers and fuck up.
