Does buying PS4/XOne still makes sense provided that the new generation comes out in 1,5 year or so? I want to play Red Dead Redemption 2 so badly and I will have some free time soon and I am wondering of buying one. On the other hand I live in a Eastern Europe and am still young, thus I need to be careful with my money and I simply wonder whether PS4/Xone would become obsolete much quicker than its precedessors provided we have a backward compatibility (dunno whether it is called like that in ENG) and I will be unable to sell it. Should I buy it? I probably won't play much of the other games in a future, I am a RTS geek, but RDR has a special place in my heart.
Buying a console now
not worth it only for the RDR2, its not that good
have played some RDR2 during Easter at my cousin's PS4 and I've found it really good overall, although it somehow lacked the climate of original RDR for me
They just announced a backwards compatible PS5, I would wait if I didn't have a PS4
Uose your common sense. The console you are buying didn't appeal to you for the first years of its life, but now it does. How will next gen be any different for you? Why would you suddenly want thay console from the start of launch?
>buying a launch model console
isn't it supposed to come after 2020? I'm in a similar position as OP, I can play something else in the meantime but not if it's still more than 2 years away
It was more like during the launch of PS4 I've got a pretty strong PC that could handle the top of the edge games of its time. I even managed to play The Witcher 3 on the medium graphics. But I haven't upgraded my PC so far (simply I haven't got a huge interest in a vast majority of new games) and I don't really plan to. I was thinking about that as I hoped that Rockstar is going to release RDR2 on PC and then I may upgrade it but I can't see this coming. It's not like it didn't appeal to me. I've simply felt that I don't need to spend my money on this, but now the case is different - I've simply could wait for a PS5 and have the newest titles available even I wouldn't play a vast majority of them.
However, I incline towards buying PS4/Xone right now, I just want to meet an opinion of someone who is more keen on the market than me.
if you want multiplats just go for the next xbox since it will be more powerful and no censorship
lol no
This. Microsoft has one big benefit going into next gen and that's most of the games since the xbox one x came out are 4k or thereabouts so they're the version you want to play if you're seeking a console. RDR2 for example is native 4k so it's the definitive version on consoles.
I always buy consoles after 3-5 years. Got PS4 pro in december.
i am in the same position as you.
Want to buy PS for RDR, Persona, Days gone, BBorne and Minecraft.
I kinda don't want to wait till the fucking end of 2020
But at the same time
is right
anything at launch is almost 100% shit
SNOY will jew people by tricking them into buying NOGAEMS station 5 before the inevitable mod lifecycle Pro version. Get a Pro now and wait around 4-5 years for a ps5 version that isn't a 500 dollar paperweight.
Bought ps4 with RDR bundle and after 4 hours took away the disc and never put it in again, it's fucking huge disappointment compared to first game where I have platinum. If you don't have like 8-10 other games you want to play on it, don't bother or sell it quickly after finishing the game.
If you want a budget purchase wait for a sale for the 500gb slim. Bundles are always more expensive
Yes it is, best game to come out in years
Think about how many more games you'll be able to afford if you buy a ps4 now. Also it's got a decent library now, and that's even more important if you're picky. It's actually a great time to buy a ps4 for a young Eastern European
t. polak
Actually I haven't wanted to buy the bundle that I've originally posted, I have actually seen some XOnes for the equivalent of ~120-160$ I estimate
>minecraft
Dude what
Not memeing.I am serious. A lot of ppl i know plays it and its the biggest selling game on the planet. You might have a problem with its consumers/community but thats you.
Just play it on pc kid
>A lot of ppl i know plays it
so you are underage ?
RDR2 is absolutely the best game to have come out in recent years. Having said that I dunno if any game is worth purchasing a system for. And speaking as a fellow Eastern European PS4 owner, I wouldn't say I recommend purchasing it now if you have to be careful with money.
Buying a console hasn't made sense in almost twenty fucking years unless you're a little fucking child who can't handle a real fucking PC.
There's some calculator that tells you if you should buy things based on price and income and time you've wanted it. I used it and it said a ps4 was a must buy, that didn't include the price of games of course. Anyway that was a few months ago and I played it nonstop but now I literally haven't turned it on in a week, and red dead sucks
Coworkers..And no good pc for coworkers since they are casuals + ppl from my gym.
I am sorry you live in a shithole of "westernized" culture where you judge a game by who is mainstream in it.
yikes
link pls
Don't remember, look it up
Bloodborne
RDR2
Detroit Become Human
Horizon Zero Dawn
Latest Yakuza games
All good reasons to get a PS4.
I survived this gen without buying a console, I've been waiting for games to sway and nothing really interesting has been come out of this gen. The selection of titles is really not special nor enticing, its not worth it. It's even more concerning that Sony has expressed interest in developing even LESS games in the next-gen.
I'd dissuade you from buying future consoles go back to previous gens.
>RDR2
>Detroit Become Human
>Latest Yakuza games
Available on PC.
>RDR2
>latest yakuza games
>>available on PC
>RDR2
Sorry about that, yeah, but still 3 games don't make it a worthy purchase. Consoles used be able to justifiable with 10~20 games. If the recent trend with the Yakuza games is anything to go by, they'll get eventually ported to PC.
