gimme that butt

I get it, you saw the Otzdarva no hit run. It's his favorite game and it's yours too.

Just give it a fucking rest please

>dark souls 2 last boss
Lol !

Attached: 5434.jpg (1280x720, 77K)

That's not Aldia

at least you can't just backstab every mob making them trivial, with a stealth system that would have been outdated in 1996 already

>Why yes, i do think we should hire Ugly Bastard Doujin artists for our game

?

wait he actually did it this time?

no, you can just run past every mob making them trivial

Imagine watching the faggiest of fags

you can do that in every From game, you dunce

no one actually hates the ogres design right?
I mean yeah fightning it sucks, but it looks pretty great.

ANYTHING IN DARK SOULS 2 BAD

this but unironically

Jokes aside, that genuinely looks like a birth defect. Pretty cool, actually.

>that genuinely looks like a birth defect
Well, it IS Dark Souls 2, afterall.

it looks retarded

Better than sekiro in every way imaginable

Even worse

?

And?
plenty of things in nature look derpy and stupid despite being deadly.
It's a very inspired design.

Attached: pygmyloris.jpg (750x555, 50K)

I'm replaying DS2 right now and its astonishing how everything except for the armor design is such lower quality.
The enemies only have 3 attack patterns max, bosses as well. The world building doesnt make any sense, like when you transition to Hildes Flame Tower and look back, the way you took to get there is actually impossible. It makes you feel like you are in some kind of dream world where every tunnel warps you to another far off part. It makes me curious what happened during development that it took such a noticable dive.

Attached: 1549221511708.gif (191x256, 223K)

exactly, so this isn't exactly a new issue is it, you dummy?

there is a difference in running away and killing them trivially you absolute mongrell

just slog through till you get to the DLC.
you already made it this for so might as well get something good out of it.

I’ll explain but I’m phoneposting from bed so give me a little time, ok?

Turning this into a sexy anime lady wouldn’t help, and I didn’t think that was possible.

>except for the armor design
Even that has a bunch of stinkers with my least favorite being the Drangleic set since the whole thing looks awkward and as if the details were painted on.
Not to mention that it really doesn't seem like some super tough armor like its stats imply and outside of the chestplate and helmet most of it looks like leather and cloth.

Attached: 59CBJ58.jpg (1994x1480, 443K)

Dark Souls 2 would honestly be better if all enemies were sexy anime ladies

fuck off weeb

Yes. Third time is the charm.

It's all on YouTube

>fuck me weeb
b-bend over user-kun

As a character designer I think DAS2 had some decent armor/enemy designs, but it also had the worst ones in the series. A even bigger problem is how cartoonishly the zones transition into each other and how silly some of the zones look for a dark fantasy game.

its hardest to do in DS2 out of all the games tho

Gimme that butt!!

post characters you designed so I can tell you how little your opinion matters.

>bog generic ogre with one ye
>inspired design
Ds2fags are mentally ill

third time? its like his sixtieth

looks pretty skyrim-reddit to me

>how to spot a piss mad DaS3 babie
You can do that in your game, you try the same in DaS2 next thing you will know you are at half health and trying to despawn the enemies one by one in Eastern Peak.

Attached: 1555823584513.jpg (688x418, 441K)

Seriously? I thought he only made three legit attempts. Ive only seen the previous and this one anyway.

He's Spanish so I was rooting for him.

It has a long red cape, so I think its fine by default, since you mostly see your character from behind. The helmet is a problem tho..

Try running past the shrine maidens, shitforbrains

Dude the same thing sort of happened to me. I haven't played Dark Souls 2 in like 4 years and I was actually starting to think that the game is probably not as bad as I remember it because of all the shitposts.
Oh boy was I fucking wrong. It is actually a chore to play this game. I absolutely can not comprehend how people claim that this game is better than any of the other games.
Sure the PvP in its prime was the best the souls community has ever seen but that was years ago and doesn't excuse the absolutely abhorrent PvE.

Attached: 1553555404573.jpg (790x819, 254K)

While there are no clearly defined two teams anymore, the original team that worked in Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls 1 went right to work on Bloodborne after Artorias of the Abyss. This is confirmed by BB prototype maps in the DLC’s files. DS2 then started development by a completely different team under a guy called Shibuya who had not worked on Souls before. We don’t know for sure what exactly he was doing but the game had a different plot and setting and it entered development hell. Tanimura then replaces him and tries to salvage the project and uses Shibuya’s assets as completely different things. There was no time to generate too many new assets for the new ideas. When DS2 is finished the BB team was still cooking up Old Hunters, Tanimura then goes on to lay the base foundations of DS3. Old Hunters was pretty advanced however and this is where the teams get really muddled, since part of the original Souls team goes to help Tanimura (though work was already done by him and the DS2 team at this point) others work on Deracine and Sekiro (the latter was spearheaded by BB’s lead game designer). Deracine was an easy minimal project and took no effort, those devs soon joined Sekiro. When DS3 was done the Bloodborne/original Souls team members helping finish it go to Sekiro too. Now this is when things turn interesting, Tanimura and parts of the original DS3 team never go work in Sekiro. In fact they are not involved in that game in any shape or form. What happened is that they went to work on something yet unannounced, while the rest finished up Sekiro and possibly any DLC it may have. This is why there’s a massive chance the next Souls-like game is going to be a Tanimura project.

objectively best pve content in any From game, bosses could be argued for ds3 but for mobs ds2 is the pinnacle

>He's Spanish
Damn and he managed to beat all DaS2 bosses without getting hit. It's really hard because the game is a janky unstable piece of shit and there are lots boss fights are poorly made and unbalanced. That makes him stronger than El Grande Padre and El Hermano I guess

Go back to devil may cry for masochists then

>this enemy in a nutshell

Attached: 1555987433985.jpg (640x640, 56K)

Anglos were absolutely BTFO by that accomplishment for sure.

DMC2 you mean?

Its like an error in your brain. Its so bad that it goes into negative value but the number that shows up is positive.

It's the rapier. Every rapier let's you do a sonic boom next to your enemy and damage even when it doesn't touch him.

Funny thing is that DaS2 is exactly what comes to mind everytime I see this image

It had some designs made by the regular team’s concept artists and some by new artists that never worked with From again. I’m phoneposting now like I said earlier so I can’t post the examples but look up concept art and you’ll find a lot of designs made in a different style, even for some DLC enemies (which got Soul-ified in the final game, check out the Fume Sorcerers and those iron giants specifically, way different style in the art) And Shibuya’s team concept art was bizarre, truly something else.

What Happy Hob did is still way more impressive if you ask me. More than that he is a fucking redditor. Yea Forums BTFO

That's probably just how good Dark Souls 3 is in comparison to DMC yeah

based demo.
what's he up to lately?
he still stream?

DaS2 is proof that From can release literal feces and contrarians on Yea Forums will claim it's their best work yet

Dark Souls 3 is the DMC4 of Souls games though. Dark Souls 2 is exactly like DMC2

lol probably. I don't know, I just brought Otzdarva to the thread because it must be the reason for all this late DaS2 shitposting.

It also has the highest metascore out of all Souls games except for Bloodborne

It’s literally a DS2 image. You can see the arena statue room behind the mail, very faintly.

Who cares what you think.

I re-fought Fume Knight for the second time since the first time I beat him. Compared to my first time, where I spent upwards to an hour in attenpts to beat him, this time on this new character it only took two tries total.
Feels good man. P.S. Gyrm Axe infused with lightning + Sunlight Blade is amazing. Great Cleric weapon.

Thanks, looking forward to what comes next

Oh shit I thought it was DaS1. I'm blind

Imagine how big their dicks are, haha

I don’t know. Nobody had done DaS2 all bosses no hit before, pulling that off the entire game with its 40 bosses or so and with how janky and plentiful some enemies are and culminating in the infamous Ivory King fight and other bullshit DLC parts... plus the other games are more fair and/or easily roll spammed, and DS2 any% no hit is massively easier than all bosses. Otz also had to come up with a lot of routing and strategy himself since no one else was masochistic enough for that.

why

honestly, the level design of the game is so awful it's like they didn't learn the mistakes from dark souls s. later areas. Dark souls 1 had its asshole enemy placement behind some corners but it feels like the DS2 team just decided that was hard level desighn. Beyond that most levels are completley linear with maybe a second branching path.

I mean, its not a chore to play for me, the bosses feel extremely easy after Sekiro, plus I'm playing an INT build which is pretty overpowered anyway. I just wanted to take another look at the game like that.

Because they probably look nice, haha.
Their huge, hung cocks could probably barely fit inside of me, haha
Imagine the ejaculation, i bet it would overflow from within me, haha

Neatto. Need to try that.

I also been thinking about a new agape ring build, using Acid Surge. But killing Royal Rat Authority with a low level char is a big fucking pain in the ass. Good thing is that I'm already at his door with my character.

It's incredibly hard, I agree but still not harder than doing all 5 Souls games in a row. Also
>plus the other games are more fair
>more fair
They are just well made unlike DaS2

>next souls-like game is going to be a Tanimura project
Is this good or bad?

FROM is done with Souls

Such a mistake to put an armor set with such good physical defense stats into the first area, tricking all the scrubs into using it for the entire game
If you meet one of these in PvP you know you're going to steamroll them.

???

Attached: ogreboard.jpg (1259x334, 74K)

Imagine the smell

Well Tanimura is better than basegame Dark Souls 2 indicates since you have to factor Shibuya’s mess and the last minute asset reuse (which is how the area inconsistencies and such came to be, the world is literally a giant Frankestein monster). Dark Souls 2 DLC is more like it if you want to see a Tanimura project through and through. Expect something like that, maybe better, maybe a bit worse.

why did you post a 5 year old screen cap?

he is a big guy

Incorrect. Mistranslation. From is done with Dark Souls specifically, and they still left a door open for it in the far future even then. They never talk about “Souls games” as a genre. If you look up at the original Japanese source that got mistranslated he is clearly talking about the Dark Souls series, he literally says Dark before Souls.

You know a game is good when Yea Forums contrarians relentlessly shit on it to please their e-celeb baby sitters

2>1>pile of shit > 3

You know I love SotFS but RRA is hands down the worst boss in any souls game I've played, its "Capra Demon is only hard cause of his dogs" but with exactly twice the dogs and [TOXIC!!!]
I hope you have good luck in dealing with it, especially if you're gonna do it multiple times.

This is legitimately my rank too, although I'm not too keen in trying poo and DaS3 has merit too, such as having the best side quest/side characters of all the souls games (up there with BB) and PvP being ok.

Well, at least Sekiro is different

Nice contrarian opinion

I can't and it's already kicking my ass. I don't have a good way to dispatch the little dogs with this character. I'm going to quit this build, it's not like the people I invade even care about equipment breakage.

No, it's definitely hardest to do in Demon's Souls, if you're counting it.

I don't really like the Drangleic chest piece but the gloves, boots and helmet are fashionable.

It’s RNG crap to see if you can one shot all the adds in one big swoop before you get fucked. By the way do you know why those “rats” look so much like dogs? They were made to be the regular dog models until they used DS1’s models for those, then they made very small texture changes, made them smaller and added the toxic aura effect and passed them as rats. This happened extremely late in development.

I’d still consider it a Souls game in format. They just don’t internally talk about Souls games as a thing and just do whatever.

The shield is amazing too. The most accessible 100% damage block shield in the game.

But shields are for faggots

The Drangleic Helmet was originally designed as the Llewellyn Helmet which is why it fits more with that set than the Drangleic Set and why it’s found separate from it.

Yeah it's always a fucking pain in the ass no matter the build and I haven't found a consistent method cause I always play up different builds. And I suppose you're right about the equipment breakage. What about a poison build instead? Or Dark Fog?

That's interesting to know, honestly mangy shitty dogs working for a king of rats doesn't bug me much.

Yeah it’s not too jarring but not many people know it. They worked really well like dogs though, so it’s a bit sad. I can’t post the pic sadly but if I recall there’s some in the infamous pre-downgrade IGN preview that can serve as proof of my words.

Poison I haven't tried yet. I've read that the best weapon for that is the Channelers Trident. I need to start a new character for that.

What is with this fucking ogre
Is this some e-celeb meme or some garbage like that

Be careful of parries with the Trident. My favorite poison weapon is the Sanctum Mace because it’s pretty unique and also does damage but it’s more restrictive in terms of level and build since you probably want the Poisonbite Ring.

I don't think I can reach 35 strg for that weapon with a SL30 character. Unless I'd sacrifice weapon upgrades for leveling and used the strength ring.

Yeah that's cause the Channeler's Trident has that spinny strong attack that hits like 3 times in a row, that's the reason. I also mentioned Dark Fog cause of all three spells that poison (Poison Mist, Toxic Mist) its the fastest acting. Too bad they nerfed is so you can't instantly poison people by casting with the Bat Staff, that's the only thing that made it stand out.

It gets shitposted about because it looks silly but its not one of DS2’s worst designs by any margin. There are way worse. I kinda like the hippo ogres. And the streamer mentioned in the thread is pretty small and fun, not cancerous at all.

There’s activity at many SMs since there are so few invaders and the matchmaking is good. Poison does so much damage that its viable st all levels too.

Kekles

I hope and think it is about the GUTS sword in Demons. I used to invade near Yurt's cage and just roll one handed r1d everyone from the tight ass bridges. Got a lot of hatemail for that stuff but it was super fun and hard to counter.
DeS really has the most broken builds in Souls games

I forgot to add the ogre has a grab attack and those attacks have really shitty implementation in that game. You get teleported into them because of janky coding and the lingering shitbox of the DS2 dodge. You also don’t have the chance to invest into the iframe stat that hides said shitbox by the time you meet the first ogre and that attack is an one shot. This makes them quite infamous.

Kys

>It makes you feel like you are in some kind of dream world where every tunnel warps you to another far off part.
I thought that, at least, was intentional. The way you get to the kingdom through a magic portal tunnel to Wonderland, and end up in a place called Things Betwixt. They added that message "Like a dream..." too.

Final games sure, but prepatch DS1 full havels ninja flippers and all the insane nigh-unkillable builds of DS2 release like Helixadon were more broken in my opinion. Unless you count exploits such as running Firestorm in DeS

>Shibuya’s team concept art was bizarre
It's KINO.

Attached: 1370093040-dark-souls-2-art-7.jpg (2048x870, 844K)

It was western garbage
I still can't fucking believe dwarves made it into the final game

The intro is a relic from another draft of the game and that’s why it’s pretty disconnected with the story. Also in the concept art that ruin in the intro is supposed to be the Iron Keep. I’m pretty sure what you say is what Tanimura hoped people would think, but the non-lore reason is that those areas were already finished in terms of the visual assets and they had to mix them around and give them a different meaning in the setting, so a lot of the connections are really iffy. There’s a rumor that Shibuya’s original concept was more leaning towards a traditional open world which makes sense given his concept art but I can’t really confirm that rumor and no one without insider knowledge can. They were very quiet about the original vision but there are some Shibuya interviews from before he was removed (like the famous “if Dark Souls 1 was the North Pole this is the South Pole” one that people think is still relevant in terms of lore discussions) and Tanimura said Lucatiel and the Bell Gnome’s assets were designed as a Don Quixote and Sancho inspired adventurer duo in the initial draft.

Cool, you found them. You should post the original level up waifu! Also there’s one of the images that focuses on random roads and open areas and that’s what I was referring to when I said they make me suspect the open world rumor is true.

Every souls game has at least a few shit armor sets though. DS2 had the Alva set which was god tier and you could really mix and match the different sets well.

>the Alva set
The only good thing about DaS2 honestly aside from the main menu music

Don't forget the HUD in 2 as well, that shit is the best out of all the souls games

I feel like Alva was probably the signature armor set at one point in. It just looks so classy, and it's even in the gesture menu.

he fully directed the das2 dlc
If he stays away from shitty gimmick areas like the frozen tundra shit we should be fine

I absolutely don't like it. Demon's Souls HUD is my favorite, it's the most aesthetically pleasing for me

>that winged helmet
so fucking hot
why can't we ever get the good armour

Attached: 47694654_291214095086671_6937360590289589651_n.jpg (1080x1345, 107K)

>the signature armor set
That would be Faraam. It's the second best armor set in the game

Attached: Image-0.jpg (211x368, 22K)

The Alva Set is done by the classic From concept artists. I remember its concept art and you can tell because of the distinct style. Faraam too. Then you had whoever else designed the Moon Butterfly set and other crap. That’s why the designs vary so wildly in quality and aesthetic style.

Sekiro puts fog gates up for several of the minibosses, so once again Sekiro wins.

Do people actually like Crown of The Ivory King DLC?

Interesting. Knowing about the development cycle and cut content really kills the magic of a game huh.

I thought it was the weakest DLC. People fellate the Ivory King boss fight but the boss is mediocre gameplay wise and the mandatory NPC gauntlet that’s part of it is terrible. It also looks like a collaboration between Tanimura and Todd Howard because he comes from an Oblivion Gate but it’s apparently “epic”. Aaca sucks. The levels are decent but replaying them once to pick up stuff after the storm ceases is boring even if the concept has merit. It’s not a bad dlc but very overrated... though Horsecock Valley brought so much fun schadenfreude

anymore?

>The levels are decent
I thought they were shit

It depends. If you strictly care about the believability of the setting (is that even a word?) what kills it is the immersion breaking mistakes. The elevator to heaven is very overused in arguments and shitposts but it’s still egregious, and then there’s stuff like a stone that’s not even waist high being the thing that forces you to go through the Shrine of Winter and get the souls because you can’t climb it. But to me all this insane cut content / early draft shenanigans are way more fascinating than the actual lore which is why I autistically searched for all of it. Then there’s stuff that makes you see the game in a different light like the original meaning behind the Aged Feather. That was really nice and I wish it wasn’t cut.

Eleum Loyce is amazing and one of the most beautiful places in the soul series.

Also Aava and Ivory King were absolute kino

It's got nothing on both painted worlds.
>Aava
not really a fan of it
>Ivory King
gank boss fight

I don't. Might have something to do with me always reaching it when I'm seriously getting tired of DS2.

Ariamis is a way better snow area. Eleum Loyce has those shitty low res box houses and the cathedral of solid stone with a repeating texture that you get into only to see massive windows with light shining through that do not exist outside. Feces.

Isn't this what Eleum Loyce was trying to be?

I respect your opinion, but with all due respect this is probably one of the shitiest opinions i have ever seen in a ds2 thread.
Specially taking into account that both bosses in ds3 painted world were gank bosses

mini bosses should be counted as bosses since there is like 3 real bosses in that pile of garbage

Similar but different, the giant arch stone seemed more like a giant castle/fortress (duh).
Still a bummer that we will never see this finished

Well I respect your opinion too but how is Friede a gank boss fight? Also that other boss doesn't count, he is shit. I'm just saying that the Painted World of Ariandel is more beautiful than Eleum Loyce

cringe and bluepilled

Attached: 1370092928-dark-souls-2-art-11.jpg (2048x1152, 644K)

And I honestly think that it's better that way. It kinda adds mystery

I feel like Eleum Loyce could have looked really great in DaS1 but the DaS2 graphics just look so... off.

One point I will defend the game on is the way they use the torches and how dark areas are set up. Made for really fun exploring and I hope they will use a similar torchlight system in a future game.

I remember when this was first leaked. Lots of people were horrified by that giant brick house spider.

Gank boss fights aren’t bad. O&S is a gank boss fight. Ivory King just has a gauntlet of nondescript NPCs with reskinned weapons that take forever to aggro on the friendly ones wailing on them, have way too much hp and poise, and all of this without being a true threat so it’s not even tense or engaging. The section is also long as fuck and if you die to the “proper” boss you have to do it again. Also funny how the first reflex of the DS2fag is to bring up DS3. I don’t even hate DS2 but Ivory King is awful and gets given a pass because of the lore. Aava is also incredibly generic in design and moveset.

Attached: 1370091782-dark-souls-2-art-4.jpg (2364x1024, 709K)

I'm kind of not impressed at all. Looks like a WRPG

>implying the dlc is actually legitimately good
it's only "good" because what its building on is shit.

To add to this the third (optional) boss of this DLC is basically Aava x2. And that's not even mentioning that shitty snowstorm area full of electric rape horses that comes before said boss. Such lazy game design. This DLC is definitely the weakest out of all Dark Souls 2 DLCs. In fact, it's the worst Souls DLC even

That’s the level up waifu! Terrible design. Shibuya’s version truly seemed shit. The story was also extremely non-Soulsy. Shame the one that took care to piece it together was Sanadsk who is sadly cringe-worthy to listen to. I wish Lance McDonald did it, he’s cool and his videos are very to the point with minimal bullshit.

Considering how Jap are wanking themself on European Medieval aesthetics, I fail to see how this is a bad thing. It's not like first Dark Souls was "le ebin flight of Japanese imagination" anyway.

>It's not like first Dark Souls was "le ebin flight of Japanese imagination" anyway
You could still see some sort of the Japanese touch to it. Same with Berserk, when you are reading it it just doesn't feel like a western comic

1 > 3 = Sekiro > 2

DaS2 is not a bad game. In some ways it's the most unique of them all.

Playing DaS2 makes me feel like I'm in a dream or purgatory. Things don't necessarily connect or make sense (like path to Heide), Majula itself is like heaven, enemies feel like they're props made of cardboard and some of your attacks feel like when you try to punch someone in a dream but can't muster the strength.

I love it because I've never felt this feeling in any modern games. The whole of DaS2 carries this vibe of nostalgia.

Friede + Ariandel is gank city, even more when they follow the same archetype as Biggie and Smalls, one bigger and slower boss that hits like a truck and a smaller and faster one who constantly punishes you.

Now, who zone is prettier falls into each ones standards of beauty. For me Eleum Loyce is much prettier due to the whole look of the frozen city, walking through the nooks and crannies of the town filled with ice and snow was amazing, and the view from the whole city that huge tower where you find one of the Loyce Knights was stunning.
While still pretty zones in their own ways, i found Ariamis and Ariandel duller, Ariamis had a much darker theme with the whole torture things around every place, and Ariandel never impressed me that much, some of the zones were eh like the mountain full of Followers and Millwood Knights or the plain with the Ice crabs while others were straight up disgusting, like crow-barf valley and the Fly building

Attached: 4f1142ba0ec.jpg (410x492, 48K)

It’s literally Aava x2, the only new move is a scripted hp regen buff the last one uses at a certain hp. The actual attacks and the AI are literally copy pasted. I’d have actually liked for the horse spam to be completely gone from the area and to instead have a larger horse boss even if it was just the same enemy with minimal tweaks, they have more moves than Aava and they would at least be something new. Not sure if this whole fiasco is worse or more lazy than the Gank Squad boss though, which wasn’t even a DLC asset. Blue Smelter is the best of that lazy trifecta because regular Smelter is a decent fight for a DS2 boss and Blue is just the same but with altered timings. I still think the DLCs would have been better off shorter and flat out lacking those areas.

I feel you. Pretty good description of Eleum Loyce actually. I like Ariamis because it's so calm and soothing. I'm sometimes autistic enough to kill everyone and just explore it like it's a ghost town
youtube.com/watch?v=DMmIDPCUWQU

Friede spends 90% of the phase in the opposite side of the room crapping out slow telegraphed AoE lines. Also Eleum Loyce has that absolutely massive and jarring issue with the windows. It’s not some small random thing you need to squint to see like the BB floating statue or the DS1 floating door, the windows cover up the entire walls and are the most iconic and beautiful parts of the inside of the cathedral and outside the walls are solid rock with a texture pattern that repeats every few squares.

Had a mental breakdown and bitched about how Vaati makes more than his dad. Hasn't been the same since that.

playing 2 while sleep deprived is kino

You really need to play Bloodborne. You'll like it if you're into weird dreamy stuff

I mentioned DS3 because is the snow level with any gank bosses, stop pulling mental gymnastics out of your ass.
The Charred Loyce Knights werent even that bad, i could down them no biggie with 3 good hits while double-handed, and fighting side to side with the other Loyce Knights was pretty cool, in 2-3 minutes you can fight Ivory King without much trouble. My only gripe with the fight was that Ivory King didn't had tad more of health or was a bit harder, but still a pretty amazing boss fight for the end of the DLC.

I agree that Lud and Zallen are pretty uninspired, but Horsefuck valley is a zone intended to be beaten through multiplayer, thats why there is a small army of summons in the beggining. If you try to go through on your own is unreasonably hard and you get butt fucked by the horses, but with more people is quite fun

just facts showing how stupid game journos are

>Fighting side by side with the Loyce Knights was pretty cool
Yes, lore wise. The actual gameplay is ass. They do no damage with most attacks, don’t pull aggro easily, and are only there to plug up the Oblivion portals. That whole section is terrible. You can’t defend it. And the Ivory King’s moveset is incredibly floaty and just looks weird and is not particularly interesting. If you want a good fight that also has good lore without being painfully mediocre look at Fume and Alonne.
Also I called you out for bringing up DS3 because that other user mentioned gank fights and instead of saying that wasn’t true or trying to defend it you instantly talked about DS3.
But anyways no one can justify Ivory King being a good boss beyond “Tragic figure! Epic entrance!” and other things solely related to the presentation. It’s like some extremely cheap version of Maiden Astraea, but at least that didn’t pass itself as an actual fight and just played to it strengths. Reading about how sad the Ivory King’s story is in some item description doesn’t redeem the mediocre fight.

you are the sheep actually, you just listened if you actualy played trough all from games you would quickly realise that gameplay of ds2 is by far the best

Did you play some developer build that restricts the world to the BoB arena (and not the bridge one) and it just gave you an instant build creator and just played PvP?

It depends on what you mean by gameplay. The combat in DaS2 is garbage, this game plays like trash. I remember one user accurately described it in two words: smooth clunkiness. That's exactly what the combat in this game is

>mfw people by default agree that ds2 had the “best pvp”

I like it. It's a smaller story, the broad stroke of this episode is the reveal that the world just constantly cycles endlessly between fire/dark, new civilizations built on the ashes of the old.

It was more about the search for answers and how it can drive us insane. Really underrated game.

Normal people don't care about PVP

This literally has nothing to do with Nashandra. She just pops up out of nowhere and you fight her just because she's there

Why doesn't DS1 get any shit for this thing?

Attached: kingseeker frompt.jpg (720x406, 40K)

It does though

Its the most skill based Souls PvP that revolves around hitting people with your weapons instead of teleporting them across the screen with an instant grab so good that warps every single moment of a fight to revolve around it.

What's wrong with him?

Nashandra is also partially made of skeletons because she was originally designed as a Nito equivalent and got repurposed. They couldn’t even create a single character-suited design for the final boss and instead repurposed some existing boss that was mid game at best and that’s why she’s so easy. I can’t really defend this choice. At least she has a good OST I guess.

>uhh i have to think ahead what a shitty game
DS1 you were blocked by walls a mile away but ds2 is clunky you fags realy are incapable of thinking

>DS1 you were blocked by walls a mile away
Nice completely valid argument DaS2-kun. Notice how noone even shits on DaS2 in this thread yet you still decided to sperg out

learn to read you disabled ape

He has to fucking calculate his stamina lots of times because no stamina means you're going to get hit in this game. He lucked out on the first phase of the ivory king at least 2 times from what I saw. He almost got hit by one of the axe knights

What's the problem? People are actually discussing DaS2

Why i would deny it or defend it? The 1st phase of the Ivory King boss fight is a gank fight (unless you come with the 3 Loyce Knights, and still, there are 2 more Charred Knights than Loyce ones), i never told the user that gank boss fights were bad, i pointed out that it was funny to complain about Ivory King being a gank when 2 other fights in the painting of DS3 are also ganks, i swear to god, you cant even name DS3 in a DS2 thread without people getting anally destroyed.

And Ivory King is a good boss, he is fun, he is somewhat challenging, memorable and the fight has an interesting gimmick backed up with awesome lore, the fight isn't broken and the Charred Knights are completely manageable if you take on them as it is intended, saying that the fight is bad and the whole section is terrible is in my opinion dishonest, but at the end of the day this is what these things are, opinions, everyone has one, you have yours and i have mine, and even if whe spend hours arguing to see who holds the truth we will never reach a common ground, so whatever

Attached: 4.png (478x449, 121K)

The game is clunky. It may not be trash depending on personal opinions and tastes and can even be a really fun game (it was for me) but the character is objectively slow, yet not weighty, there’s bad sound design and stagger animation feedback on hitting stuff or being hit, etc. This is why so many people hate the core combat from the first moment despite not knowing how to explain it. The slowness, massive stamina costs and lack of tracking make the PvP fun and more skill based instead of hammering your r1 button and having the game do the rest, but it does hit the PvE combat hard. Then you factor in a vast amount of mediocre bosses and samey designs and you end with a clunky game. When people take offense with “big dude with weapon” bosses despite the ratio not being that different than in other Souls games or Sekiro being nearly fully duel swordfights against humanoids it’s because so many of these humanoid fights in the vanilla game have samey attacks that are avoided in very similar ways with minimal timing differences, like the infamous three hit combo. To me, the game is fun because of build diversity and PvP as well as freedom in the order you do its areas, but you can’t deny the game is clunky.

>Why doesn't it get shit for a 10/10 design

Retard, that shit is straight out of Berserk, automatically makes it godlike design.

Because Frampt, in both character and design, is weird and eccentric and it fits him.

Why is complaining about a gank fight funny just because this other game has them too? What if the user hated DS3 too? He didn’t say anything beyond Ariandel being prettier. You assumed it was dishonest to complain about DS2 for something DS3 does too as if the two games were mandatory at odds and one had to be right and the other wrong. And this is the issue of the DS2fag, he cannot discuss or defend any point of his favorite game without using the fallacy that because this other game is supposedly worse, there’s nothing wrong in it.

>limited edition long sword in majula

Attached: 135_009-Hishiro.jpg (412x433, 30K)

Is this thread dead? Can we revive him? What was up with the Lordvessel in the Majula basement? Discarded plotline that they forgot to remove? Bizarre fanservice?

Ye he chillin

I'm still not sure if these were designed to look awful on purpose

Attached: Preorder items.jpg (422x422, 52K)

The Black Flamestone Dagger was such a fun weapon.

>What was up with the Lordvessel in the Majula basement?
Can you post a picture of it please? I vaguely recall something like that

anti semitic potrayal went unnoticed for some reason

>Tanimura put the broken Black Flamestone Dagger in the middle of horrid weapons which all look like they are covered in literal shit.
Also while they are based on other existing weapons the models are unique, so much effort for something that looks completely unpleasant.

pretty sure they were, they are referred to as 'gimmicks' internally. Gamestop just wanted something for pre-orders.

>The Burnt Ivory King is an amazing fight
>"See you can't defend your game"
???

I’m phoneposting so no, sadly. But basically there’s pieces of a broken vessel and if you compare the patterns on it to the original DS1 Lordvessel it’s a complete match. The weird thing is that the pieces are obviously a different model intentionally made to look like that, so it can’t be chalked up to just some random asset reuse from the first game. I never found any info on why it might have been there, or cut content or anything.

Oh man this post.
Like i said earlier, because for some reason i need to repeat myself, i compared DS2 with DS3 because its the only other game in the souls series that has gank boss fights in snow themed areas, theres no ulterior motives or big conspiracies behind the comparison, i didnt even said that one was worse or better than the other, but whatever fits your narrative

> And this is the issue of the DS2fag, he cannot discuss or defend any point of his favorite game without using the fallacy that because this other game is supposedly worse, there’s nothing wrong in it

Fuck this is rich, first of all, i never said anything bad about DS3, at worst i said that i found Eleum Loyce prettier and that Ariandel was a bit eh, but for some reason now it seems that i have attacked DS3, somehow.

Funny how someone who supposedly states that DS2fags cannot discuss or defend any point at the game without shiting on others grasps at straws and pulls shit out of nowhere just to shit on tha fanbase, oh the ironing

It only took a long argument for him to blurt out that tastes are subjective and he liked it, fair enough I guess. But the DS3 thing was his first answer and he was trying to hide the fact. I don’t even care about it too much, there are other more interesting topics in the thread so let’s drop it.

Well maybe it's just an easter egg or something

Is that near the skelly? I wonder if he was meant to represent something.

>having the word ape in the back of your mind
Fuck off back to your Sekiro help threads.

Yes, same room as the skelly, which always drops one effigy, and there’s always one more skelly for each NG cycle.

You should hesitate to show such hatred

Aldia is even more of a pushover

hide what?

this, fuck the gyrms

The true intentions behind bringing up DS3. But please, let’s drop it, banter was had, there’s not much more to say. It was fun just for a while. Do you like wearing thigh highs? Me too! See, there are more interesting topics at hand.

Everything is subjective you twat.

Attached: 20190423175958_1.jpg (1920x1080, 569K)

Why do dark souls 2 and 3 idiots always argue with each other? Isn't it obvious those entries are by far the worst?

My dude, i told you already several times that the only true intentions behind my comparison between DS2 and DS3 are the ones you made up in your own head, what the fuck happened between DS2fags and you that was so bad that despite everything i tell you you keep with your headcannon that i was somehow shitting on DS3 despite the fact i never said anything bad about it and now youre trying to bail out?
Why are you so obssessed with the idea that any DS2fag has to hate or shit in DS3?

god fucking damn it, this looks swell

I’m not obsessed with the idea, I was just explaining what I meant since you asked and you are the one that brings it up over and over. I find your passion very exciting~
But really can we stop yelling the same stuff over and over I’m sure the other anons are tired of it, you are probably trying to make them all leave so you can erp here with me! I’m pretty sure that’s against the rules.

I don’t like DS3, my favorite games are Bloodborne and Sekiro. I just wanted some fun banter for a little while but it got out of hand.

Youre giving me the Paches speech user

Attached: bobby.gif (334x252, 790K)

No need to hide it I can see right through you and your intentions and I don’t mean the Dark Souls ones!

If I'm at the gerhman fight but don't have the dlc is it too late to buy and play the dlc before ng+?

I feel you, but i think the series is mysterious enough, seeing how awesome it could have been and finally get removed, its enough to make a man go hollow

I usually do it early for challenge and rewards but it’s meant to be endgame content and is harder than the endgame of the vanilla game. If you already have a pretty overleveled character with insane gems just do it on ng+ since it scales well and it becomes pretty challenging and fun. But really you’re free to do it whenever.

The cut content just enhances the games for me. Like I mentioned earlier I love the Aged Feather plotline. The game used to have weird time travel elements which is why the intro shows that ruin that’s whole in the reflection. All that is left of that is the giant memories. Anyways before I digress... you meet the loli Emerald Herald at the start of the game and give her a feather, she treasures it and that’s the importance of the feather and why it’s aged. When you meet her adult form she reveals she kept it with her all this time. Part of this scene obviously still happens in the final game except you have no idea what the feather is supposed to be and it comes off as random. An oddity that they didn’t remove is that the version of the Emerald Herald in this scene seems younger than usual, it’s hard to notice but she sounds slightly different. It’s because these voice lines were from this cut plot line recorded earlier with the time travel stuff. Lack of sleep has been weighting me down and I’m not very eloquent but that’s the story.

I know it all, it just makes me sad, but i dont know if time travel really would fit the souls series

This reply made me laugh. I was so confused reading his post.

Some of these fanboys reach so fucking hard, it's actually sad.

dios mios.....

You faggots are so annoying.

Berserk is a lame edgefest, stop forcing it into everything. Fuck you weebs.

The first game has literal time travel in the DLC and you even meet puppy Sif. But yes the feeling of this initial story was so different from Dark Souls anyways and I’d argue that even if the final game is closer to the Souls feel it never hits the mark. I honestly wish that if the team was going to be different than DS1’s they would have done a spiritual spinoff instead, some King’s Souls or whatever, a new setting instead of a sequel.

the way the area loops on itself reminded me of das1
the snowball shortcut made me laugh for a solid minute
I liked the gimmick of searching the knights and charging with them in the chaos was pure kino

fuck the optional barren snowfield though

Souls being Berserk influenced is such an annoying exaggerated meme. Yes Miyazaki clearly likes Berserk and they put wheel skeletons and huge UGS, but fans unironically see Berserk in everything even standard dark fantasy fare and I constantly hear how Souls copied Berserk and whatnot. I actually love Berserk but having more than just superficial insight on it lets me see it has a different feel, but I guess “dark fantasy” was invented by Berserk.

Imagine defending a bad game because it was your first in the series.

Imagine being a 2 fanboy

Attached: 6mup3y3ophd21.png (646x595, 269K)

nooooo

>Imagine defending a bad game because it was your first in the series.
Literally BBfags

For the sheer amount of content in DS2 all bosses, it's gotta be equal to no-hitting at least a couple souls games on any%.

If the whole BB was the same quality as the first half and Old Hunters everyone would have stopped shitposting because they’d be embarrassed to criticize such a masterpiece. But everything after the forest is a disappointment so it’s just a 10/10 game.

Shit youre right about Ds1 time travel, im a dumbass.
A thing i liked a lot about DS2 its that i tried to keep itself separated from 1 and be its own thing, with references sparse, it was much better than be a DS1 sequel or a prequel

>Dark Souls 2
Lol.

The relationship with Dark Souls 1 was too weird for me. It felt inconsistent and forced because in one hand the game has its own feel (like it or hate it, it’s clearly different) and on the other copy paste Ornstein would pop up together with some really badly done references. I think it’s the result of the development hell too. The game is pretty open with hinting Drangleic may be Lordran in another age (talks about kingdoms rising and falling on the same spot, the major souls being somewhat incarnations of the Lord Souls, etc) yet that Shibuya interview did say it was another continent. My personal opinion is that there wasn’t a consistent vision as for where the game would stand compared to the first one through the entire development cycle and that’s why the game feels like that.

Best thing about DS2 was fashion souls and making builds. I miss powerstancing with dual weapons.

The non-linearity, easy access to weapons/spells to start your build early, the most build diversity are all strong points of dark souls 2

It's a game weighted more on the RPG side of Action/RPG, and when you look at it this way it makes the clunkier movement so much easier to forgive.

Powerstancing was trash. Janky animations and often worse than one weapon outside niche stuff like dual mace cheese on Sentinels. And in PvP regular dual wielding was an order of magnitude better. And that was the best system and no one brings it up because they are too busy parroting things they heard about powerstancing. What we need is the ability to put a weapon in my left hand and become able to use its full moveset including heavy attacks and running/rolling. DS3’s dual wielding is a crime.

Yeah but it was fun. Was actually kinda sad that DaS3 didn't have it.

The varangian set was originally going to appear in DS3.
In the description literally says: "The coastline stretches far in northern Drangleic"
I guess Drangleic was very similar to Lordran and Lothric, a weird land to which souls are drawn to and where kingdoms meet their end

I don’t mind ditching it for dual weapons when they’re done well like Rakuyo. That was way better than any powestancing. But using two different weapons of your choosing in each hand gave you such moveset depth and it was incredibly fun and effective.

I wouldn’t use stuff from a subsequent game that wasn’t even planned at that point... I don’t really care about what the final canon status of Drangleic is, I’m just saying by the time Dark Souls 2 was made I didn’t get the feeling all the references and links or lack of them had the same philosophy behind them. Also my post came off as aggressive, sorry.

That one was fucking great! The DLC of DS2 are all great and only topped by ringed city and GOAT DLC Old Hunters

The DLC have some questionable things but it’s commendable how much they did with such a bad core combat system. Though I’ll never understand the shitty “coop areas”, I am sure an amateur modder could have produced better content. And it’s not like the DLC were short without them, what was the need for such putrid filler in the first place?

>No Scorpioness Najka scenes in the final game

Based

Why was water such a prevalent theme in DS2? Nearly every area features either a large body of water or has water involved in its layout

>nathin personel kid

Nah, dont worry, with how convoluted is souls by default and the shit development its obvious that the timeline was fated to be fucked

I don’t like the over-reliance on the convoluted plot device in the sequels. When Dark Souls 1 introduced it, it was literally just a way to make the online mechanics not clash with the lore. Even the original time travel in the DLC was pretty “controlled” so to say, it was clearly defined. It was only after the sequels came out that it came out of hand. Dark Souls 3 runs wild with the whole “time and space are fucked” concept and DS2 feels disjointed since the nuances to the cycles changed from 2 to 3. Some spacetime mindfuck is ok, but a lot of people became dismissive of the lore thanks to it.
