Howdy, fellow tired gamers
Why is it so hard to escape into videogame worlds today?
Are we getting too old?
Tired Gamer Thread
why are you tired
You eventually got over it, the first time it hit me I had to pick up a new hobby but after 2 years I was back to enjoying games. Don't fall into the trap of buying new games, it works to keep your interest up for about 10-20 hours, but your spending massive amounts of money to chase that new game high.
>escape into videogame worlds
What does that mean?
Being able to get immersed
For many people, the amount of stress & adult responsibilities make it extremely hard to shut your mind off and focus entirely on the game
Eating a delicious cake every day makes the cake bland and boring soon
Get other hobbies, do videah breaks and once you actually have a THIRST to play games again, return
What is "immersion"? Isn't it just a meaningless buzzword?
>food analogy
Epic
I started playing Japanese games exclusively. That revived my interest in games.
Depends, are you actually playing video games or are you just spending your free time shitposting?
Can neets become tired gamers? They have no responsability so they still can get immersed easily.
whoosh, you have crippling depression
Only if you really don't care/think about your future
I'm serious - I've never gotten the "immersion" thing. Like, you're telling me that people can just get so engrossed in something that they don't notice anything else?
I swear it's the industry, They were pumping out games before the recession of 2008, Now its just cheap games for a profit, I'm only waiting on the next GTA, Not sure why i bother.
I work 12 hour days doing physical work and im in my mid 30s. Still not tired
>why is it so hard to escape into video game worlds?
Unironically because you grew up.
I got burnt out on video games when I followed video game news every single day
It's more exciting when you get more hobbies and switch between them
You're already gone, man
Most adults i know are on some type od drug or alcohol. That's escapism.
I only play games when I don’t have anime too watch or I watched too much
Tired gamer NEET here. It's not about stress or distractions or anything, when I play a game I think about the game. It's just that every game is more or less boring after the first ~5-10 hours and feels like a slog to play. Not even my non-gaming hobbies are fun anymore.
maybe, it's like any kind of drug, the deeper you go, the more you need to hit it to get even small high.
I got kind of tired so I started making my own game, its fun on its own right as long as you can handle the problems that always show up and have to be fixed.
I'm sad because I'm about to turn 22 and I have no idea what to do with my life.
I work a minimum wage job, I'm too retarded for college, I have absolutely no idea how to basic tasks like getting a car repaired or paying bills, all my friends have moved on to school and relationships while I'm sitting in my bedroom shitposting about Video Games because I have nothing else to do with my mountain of free time, and I'm still a virgin who never even gotten a kiss from anyone besides my grandma.
I'm so reliant on my mom it's not even funny. If something happens to her I'll probably give up on life and die in a gutter somewhere.
Yea Forums is the closest I've had for "friends" for the past 4 and a half years.
Play more old games that you've been meaning to get around to, those classic ones that you know are good but just haven't played yet.
Even if its a genre you don't normally go for, just do it.
Its not just you, games are actually just worse.
They're too derivative now. Sure you might be growing out of games a little, but the biggest problem is that they're becoming so banal.
You've already played it before, it might have a different skin, but at its core its the same "modern" game you've played 50 times before.
Nothing makes me sadder than watching E3 and just thinking "oh, its another bamham." or "Oh, its another uncharted."
Games don't just share genres these days, they share entire gameplay formats and do the bare minimum of swapping out the setting and characters, its fucking boring and I'm tired of paying for and playing the same fucking games over and over again.
Why do you have to play video games if you don’t feel like it?
NEETs make up 99% of these threads and their posters. When you have no obligations you don't value your free time and you eventually get sick of wasting your days consuming media, unironically. There's also probably a lack of self-worth and crushing humiliation involved
Because it's either shitpost until 3AM, or sleep and wake up at 3AM.
It's thard to find another timesink as effective and requiring as little money/effort as vidyia.
Sure, you can drop few grand on your rig and buy your games just to flex on internet randoms, but barrier to enter this "hobby"is extremely low.
