I know its hard to come up with your own opinion and that makes it easy to regurgitate memes that aren't much of an argument for your case at all.
Cuphead is clearly a project of love and it gives me hope for the future of video games.
Wish you could have more agency in terms of how the boss fights play out, but otherwise it's great.
I double dipped on it. Had just as much fun with it as I did in 2017. I think my shmup skills have gotten worse since then though, as I'm having a bad time on those bosses.
Yeah the randomness in a few bosses can be a bit agitating especially when you are trying to memorize the patterns, but that just serves the games difficulty. It usually isn't too hard to figure out.
upvoted
It's great but not incredible
Now Gunstar Heroes, that's an incredible game
Oh hey, isn't this that game that ripped off Undertale?
Not as incredible as cumming inside your gf after getting a vasectomy
Undertale is to video games what Nickelback is to rock music. A Cheap imitation.
Cuphead is more like King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. A true modern recreation.
Hilda Berg on expert pissed me off. That wheel attack the twins do just randomly appeared in my direction at times.
I'll be honest I haven't gotten to expert yet. I am just getting to isle 3.
Surprisingly the Dragon gave me less trouble than I anticipated though, When I switched to the lobber it made it a piece of cake. Had more trouble with the Rollercoaster boss.
S-ranking her is a bitch and a half.
But both games have an evil flower boss, so that means they're the same game, and since they're the same game, it's an Undertale ripoff since Undertale came out first.
Not to mention that Cuphead and Mugman are obvious knockoffs of Sans and Papyrus.
I was pretty scared that the game would be a pretty artstyle and nothing more, but when I played it I fell in fucking love. Great bosses, tight controls, amazing music and loads of charm. Of course the presentation steals the show, but damn if it isn't a complete package. Fucking based.
Does there exist a game from the past 10 years with as much soul as Cuphead?
I agree it's pretty damn good
Gunstar Heroes is overrated. It's funny how people bitch about Cuphead's run & gun levels (without even explaining why they're bad) when GH has a level that's literally a straight line with zero platforming that repeats the same set of enemies half a dozen times in a row.
Same, I haven't been able to play it up until the Switch release and from all the marketing and the sheer amount of children I've seen buy the merchandise from my place of work, I thought for sure it was going to be all style no substance, but it's a great fucking game.
Soul isn't just an artstyle, user.
But yes, obviously it's a big part of it and the sacrifice and pain the devs put into this thing for years should be respected and taken into consideration.
I never said it was just artstyle. You can see the soul in the expressions of the bosses, you can hear it in the music and sound effects. Cuphead succeeds on all those levels.
Anyone have the switch version? how does it play in portable, control-wise?
Thank you :)
Posting best song. Man I just love swing.
youtube.com
I never had any trouble and I only played it portable, load times are rather long however.
WHEN'S THE FUCKING DLC
I guarantee you it’ll show up at E3 again I half-expect a delay though, given how many years and delays it took for the base game to be finished.
Will Switch get DLC at the same time though? or will it be timed exclusivity on xbox?
Plays fine, just had to tweak the controls because I didn't care for the default settings. Loading times before each boss/stage and getting to the world map are 10-ish seconds, but retries are instant. Only minor downside is a weird memory leak where the game stays at 60fps but the animations get jittery, though this only happens about 5% of the time and (so far) disappears when you die or retry.
This game is so aggravating. But something keeps pulling me back to it.
Play better games
the filet o fish looks more appealing to me.
I know this is bait, but what does "difficulty tuned for millennials" even mean.
>nu-rayman
>ubishit
fuck off retard
What a strange thing to shill for in a Cuphead thread. This is a bigger stretch than those FFXV/Xenoblade X fanboy faggots.
>flavor of the month
>still has threads nearly 2 years later
I'd assume it means it makes them feel like they're playing the "classic" side-scroller games of old. Even though it's not really as hard as the old side scroller games like contra, it still gives the illusion of this difficulty.
Happy to hear you had fun with it user! Have a nice day :)
If it's so good why did raymanfags let it flop?
The base game released simultaneously on xbox/steam/gog/windows store so I can't see why not
It definetly is and it shows. The devs had their house remortage in order to make this game. This game is one of the best looking 2d games in the market. Its like controlling a 30s cartoon
Hollow Knight is equally soulful in a lot of ways.
>food analogies
>2D Rayman
>Good
You annoying hipster faggots ruined a perfectly great 3D Platformer franchise by asking for an Indie-tier 2D shit-stain.
You do know rayman was 2d first right?
You do know what progression of technology is, right? When you're going backwards with your innovations for a quick buck is when you should be called out on it.
there's like 20 levels of bait right here
I think 2d rayman and 3d rayman can coexist. That said, Legends is not nearly as good as the original Rayman
Its so good that it leaves me wanting more. Im glad I held off buying it for Xbox or PC because it feels like its meant for switch.
I wish every level had a run n gun section before the boss instead of separating the two. Or there was a run n gun that unlocked each boss. I only wish this so the game had more content because I love the artstyle and gameplay so much not because it isn't already satisfying. I hope they make another one.
It took from switch release date until a few hours ago to beat it so about 4 or 5 days and I still have to get all the achievements.
-Gunstar Heroes
-Alien Soldier
-Metal Slug 1-3,X
-Contra: Hard Corps
-Contra: Shattered Soldier
And by lesser extent:
-Rapid Reload/Gunner's Heaven
-Metal Slug 4-7
-Dolphin Blue
-Gunstar Super Heroes
-Gunforce II
And if you count them:
-Shock Troopers 1&2
-Canon Spike
-Abuse
-Noitu Love 1&2
All pretty good games if you're looking for more run 'n' gun/boss-em-up goodness.
Am I forgetting/overlooking something? Because I love the "genre", yet there isn't that much out there to satisfy, not to mention RnG/Rail Shooter hybrids like Sin and Punishment 1&2.
>landing on “Start Over” on King Dice’s board”
I agree with you wholeheartedly.
>One of the most disappointing and half-baked sequels
>Good
No. Fuck off.
>Come up to a boss.
>OCD kicks in and always retry if you get hit even once
>Don't go to the next boss until you A+ the previous boss
I can't be the only one right?
I don't feel there's much of a point to doing that until you unlock the hard mode.
GOTY 2017. I still listen to the OST on the regular and I'm real happy that we're getting more.
>Hardest track in the game to record
>Nowhere to be heard in the actual game

I'm getting Spiderman 2 pizza theme vibes. How could they not use this.
god damn
when does the physical switch version come out
whenever the dlc comes out
rayman leg ends just wasn't that good
It was for an arcade minigame in world 2, some previews from years earlier had it. I'm willing to bet it will become a real thing in the DLC.
I wish the equipment you got affected the plane somehow. It's pretty weird how a third of the game is totally unaffected by your upgrades.
why did the media criticize sekrios difficulty when they completely ignore cupheads insane difficulty? cuphead imo is x10 harder than sekrio
>completely ignore cupheads insane difficulty
>kotaku.co.uk
>polygon.com
>forbes.com
Take your head out of the sand.
Doesn't the smoke bomb affect the shift to tiny mode for a second?
Cuphead's flower boss isn't evil though. If anything Cuphead and Mugman are the villains if you look at it from another perspective considering they work for the fucking Devil up until the end of the game.
Sekiro is a full price AAA title and even a lot of veteran Souls people had trouble adjusting to it, so that story got more traction. Especially after they used disabled people as scapegoats.
*Steals your popularity*
>Mario + Rabbids in exchange for Rayman dying.
imokaywiththis.jpg
i'm glad this is the kind of stuff that brings back the fleischer artstyle
And you’re saying this 2 years later
>that story got more traction
I don't know why you're lumping me in with that guy. I never claimed one game's difficulty got more attention than the other in the media. My argument was that posted ignorantly. My guess is he's a Switch player that's interested in Cuphead because it's just now available on that platform, whereas he probably ignored Cuphead threads/articles 1-2 years ago when it was new to the rest of us, and he couldn't play it.
I'm not lumping anyone with anyone, I was just jumping into the conversation you two were having.
>bullshit artificial difficulty boss rush garbage
>only liked because LOL IT LOOKS LIKE A CARTOON GUYS
Style over substance. Typical modern pseudo-game bullshit.
I wish there were more gun and run levels in between the bosses.
M+R is such an underappreciated game here
I'd actually gladly trade all the run-n-guns for two more female bosses
Fair enough.
>all these memes about the game being "brutally difficult"
>bought it two days ago, played thrice, already at Mr Dice
don't get me wrong it's challenging but nowhere near as hard as journos said
it's basically tropical freeze level
The game was made by a Chad
Go fuck yourself
>it's challenging but nowhere near as hard as journos said
I agree, but the developers have updated the game since its original launch to make it much easier. For example, some levels give out pink items consistently now when they were scarce in the first few weeks.
What do you think the DLC will be? Is that chef guy good or bad? What kind of boss would you like two see?
Both 2d and 3d Rayman games are great.
stfu already idiots.
Both are fantastic games, but they're from completely different genre of platforming (precision platforming and shoot 'em up, respectively). They're both 2D and well animated, that's it.
The comparison doesn't make sense in the first place, so there's no point to fight over this bullshit bait you come to post in every single Cuphead thread.
>Indie game is actually good
>"Le soiboy wojak!!1"
Yea Forums being Yea Forums, i see.
>so much of this thread hates it now
It's like clockwork. Fuck this place is so fucking gay now. Wojak edits should be a ban on sight. It's not funny
i'd gladly trade two bosses for doubling the number of run and gun levels
Literally just land on the spaces you already cleared. It's not that big of a deal.

I honestly hope that one of the old bosses comes back but with a twist. Like Werner 2.0 or something.
I WILL NOT LET YOU DESTROY MY WOOOOORLD!!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGHHHH
