Chrono Trigger is a very good RPG, but I don't know if its number one.
I could easily see it as a top 10 or even top 5 contender though.

Sound list, some entries should not be there (WoW, pokemon SM) and order is debateable (pokemon kanto? up there? wtf) but overall great list, should be distributed in schools

Has anyone played baldurs gate or planescape lately? That engine has aged like shit-n-milk. These list are always just the opinion of the masses put in numeral order. I'd like to see atleast one with some balls and make some odd choices.

Furthermore, if any games need a remake, its BG2 and torment but we'll never get them.

BG2 & Planescape remade in the Divinity Os2 Engine would be fucking 10/10s

yes played both lately. I agree the combat in both is rubbish but PST at least has minimal combat and an interesting world to explore. I'd say PST is a good game BG1 is just ok. I would not put PST in my top 10 nor BG1 in my top 100.

Is Chrono Trigger fun? Yes. Is it easy for anyone to pick and play? Yes. Is it a short game that does everything it basically needs to in under 20 hours? Yes.

Is it the best RPG ever? I mean, I wouldn't really say so personally. It does what it does well, but i'd hardly call it "complex", the combat is easy as piss besides a couple standout moments, and it's got a couple ideas that do feel a little underbaked. It's an excellent JRPG for everybody, but it's hard to really define it as something that genuinely stand out above all the others on its own merits.

best vs most influencial/significant are not the same thing. Something like final fantasy 7 which is significant as the first 3d final fantasy isworse than, say, ff5.
