Look this isn't really a criticism of it; As we all know; spending power no longer lies primarily with white men, highspeed internet has become very affordable and very fast when compared with just a decade ago, games are LESS expensive (trust me it is a much more affordable hobby now) and has grown in popularity since the "debut of internet 2.0" (Facebook is the beginning of that, but basically when the internet "Forum" died and reddit snatched the gen z's) but is the censorship and far-left "pc" culture reaching video games because white men are now not the only people with spending power and corporations are just doing what they're programmed to do? So in summary; is the "get woke, go broke" meme a complete falsehood? Is the consumer market for video games too large? Too "wide" (too many demographics to please at once)? Is that driving down the writing, and care, and relationship between the dev and the consumer?

Get Woke Go Broke is just a saying. It's not necessarily true or untrue. What's really happening when people get woke and then go broke is that instead of working on their fucking product they spend their days on twitter being a fucking activist. When you wake up in the morning you have a finite allotment of fucks to give. If you give all your fucks to darkies and wymin on twitter, you have less fucks to give your game. So it sucks, and putting out a shitty product generally results in lowered revenue gains. That's all that's happening. You can be a fucking communist and still make a good game that rakes in tons of cash, and hell, you can even manage it while continuing to be a fuckheaded activist on twitter. But much more consistent financial returns on time invested will be had from making a good fucking game than bitching about white people.

Let's take people of color featured in games since that's a sticking point that I include with the whole lot, not just feminism and the rabid hate for fanservice; (I never gave a shit about tits in games) Let me juxtapose two black final fantasy characters; Barret from FF7 and Sazh FFXIII. Barret was a multifaceted character who was conflicted, an anti-hero with a past, imperfect and hardheaded: MY FAVORITE character from the game IN FACT. Sazh was a valueless character with no substantial backstory or personality to speak of, 1 dimensional dope who was included for the purpose of diversity. These are games whose stories were written in two different periods; since FFXIII; square's cleverly avoided this by making basically every character racially ambiguous eurasian looking twinks. But these two are a prime example of what I'm talking about, as these companies try with utter futility to please those who loudly protest everything; (aka late millennials [93-99], I want to stress that, they're not zoomers) the work clearly suffers.

That's a red herring. White men primarily buy those games. (sans FIFA, where do you live?) The CoDs Halos etc. are games that were wildly popular because a huge swath of their audience weren't people who play a huge amount of games. They were marketed to a wider audience; and may have started the trend of widening the audience but they weren't the proverbial nail in the coffin. That began to become a huge problem in the 2013-2016 range; Huge offenders include like Battlefield 1, Overwatch, but earlier "offenders" could include Assassins Creed 3, etc.
