You do use buffs and debuffs right?
Also min/max your stats.
Choose either going full physical or full magic don't try to do both at the same time.
Also don't put any points in STR, because it is literally broken it only slightly increases your regukar attacks and nothing else.
If you want to use physical skills you need to pump into dex.

IV's gameplay is exploited just by playing normally. Player stats + smirking makes fights snowball so quickly and all you need to do is hit weaknesses, like you normally would, and every boss dies in 3 rounds. You don't even need buffs, they're just for fun I guess.
1 is cheesed by ailment bullets and zio/bufu. 2 is cheesed by judgement light or whatever that skill was that literally lops 70% of enemy HP off and works on bosses. dunno about if

All in all DDS 2 was pretty decent still. DDS 1 would have been perfect if it ended on them actually reaching Nirvana and there wasn't a larger outside plot. Because of the existence of the 2 and the ending of 1 though, DDS1 is imperfect and what you did feels less important since it was all in a simulation

The party is nowhere near as bad as everybody makes them out to be. Really, they are caricatures and relatively cartoonish compared to the standard SMT faire, but the point is that they are a hodgepodge of randos from various creeds who represent different perspectives, but have no choice but to work together as humans against a horde of angels, demons, and gods. We could have gotten unimaginably worse of a cast.

Doi isn't bad whatsoever. In fact, most of his designs were influenced by higher ups to match the feel of the game "aka Dagda" otherwise I'm sure they would have been drastically different. I think the worst part about those games was how archaic the maps were, on top of the overworld being rather shitty to navigate as well. Every single small building was some complex layered map, and it sucked. If these games got the SJ treatment? Man we'd be in business.

Okay I keep hearing praise about SMT1 and 2's stories and while I haven't touched 2 yet, why is 1's story praised to hell and back? The only moment that really wow'd me was seeing post-apocalyptic Tokyo for the first time, but otherwise I felt it was fairly standard fair beyond that.
I guess my biggest issue with the whole story was regarding Law Hero's conversion into Jesus 2.0, when there was zero build up or reasoning behind why him of all people. The Chaos Hero I can understand why he went down the path he did, but the Law Hero felt so underdeveloped that when he did become a Jesus figure, I was more confused than anything.

The Hardtype hack has a lot of annoyances, I'd never recommend it for a first playthrough.
If you don't know what you are doing in the game it's very easy to get stuck and have to start grinding to continue. Not a big fan off how high the chance for the special Full Moon encounters is either, if you get into a fight during a Full Kagutsuhi the first time you're in a new area there's a pretty good chance you will game over before you can even do your first turn.

Hard mode isn't tedious at all unless you decide for yourself that you desperately need to buy every Magatama the first time you see it in a shop, which you don't and really aren't supposed to. It's definitely the way to go over normal mode in my opinion, it's just way too easy to become way too strong and completely trivialize the second half of the game if you aren't on hard.

Law Hero was really, really fixated on his attempt to rescue his girlfriend. Duke Black stole his girlfriend's soul and his own soul, and when the demon dies, he dies as a result. After having been given a chance by Gabriel, he's willingly reincarnated into the world with the intent of making the Tokyo Millennium plan work while acting as a messiah. I see his Jesus:Redux personality shift more as a gigantic middle finger to demonkind than a sense of piousness.
