Just make Vergil put the power he gained as Urizen into the book to make it a devil arm which then materializes as V. It serves both as a way to bring V back and make Vergil attone by showing he's overcome his power autism.

Dante still needs a new lineup outside of DSD/E&I/Coyote in the next game, and Nero has yet to get alternate sword/gun options, let alone the possibility of getting a different Breaker lineup. Even if they stay the same mechanically, there's still a need to do something new with them because the series is built around giving you new sets of options.

That said, another attempt at a new character, or a revamp of Vergil, Trish, and/or Lady would be great. 4SE Trish is pretty great as-is but she can't use Sparda anymore, Vergil needs new weapons and reworking of Focus, and Lady needs to have a higher skill ceiling.

Reminder that Cavaliere was designed with Nero in mind but they gave it to Dante instead during development, which is why Gear Wheel is like a variant on Exceed.

The complaints about V's gameplay are elements you touched upon like being boring but he's also tedious, underdeveloped, promotes a style that can be considered anti-DMC in regards to hanging back as well as casualization complaints like easy as fuck SSS ranks. The complaints for Nero outside of personality were due to a lack of weapons and the bringer removing the need to chase enemies. V has a mountain of complaints compared to DMC4 Nero and it's absurd that you've attempted to compare the two to defend your husbando or some shit. Thankfully this argument is a waste of time as V's only purpose outside of testing mechanics for DD2 was to enhance Vergil and both are complete.

She has a slight variant on Ifrit's moveset minus the projectile, with lightning strikes on its straight and Volcano, a top spin-style combo ender that ends in a launcher, a Rising Sun-equivalent, and a divekick that leaves a trail of lightning that juggles. She's unironically better than most of Dante's gauntlets (all of them except Balrog if you ask me).

Technically he could pull a Donte and use some D-pad buttons for it. Set Breakaway to a specific direction and you have 4 buttons left to switch between weapons, with Breakaway's old slot switched with DT.

If one is willing to experiment more they can actually try to replace or take away stuff to switch things up.
Nero has Snatch back so Wire Snatch can be replaced with directional inputs for the Breakers to have them evolve fully to work like styles.
Breakaway could be dropped and we collapse it's functions back into DT, freeing up the Dpad for something like breaker or weapon switching.

Are there such things as DT specific taunts?
Since DT is time limited it would be an even bigger way to show you don't care what the enemy can do by specifically using a taunt exclusive to it.

A Sin DT taunt would be funny at least to see.

Hilariously enough V's summon shit? could've literally just been a style for Nero's arms. He legit is capable of using his arms in the way that V uses his pets specifically because of how they work, being able to stretch, change shape and him being able to disconnect them from his back. Could've just been a style that gave him two big hands like the one he had in the ending of DMC4 but a little smaller, and he just pummels and combos enemies with them both from a distance.

My point is that despite all that Nevan has more options than V himself does.

V's only real problem is his lack of depth which results in having little options for single enemies and bosses, as well as the general unwieldiness of his summons due to overlapping inputs and needing to teleport them; if anything, not enough resources where allocated to V as putting him in the game was kind of a gamble.

This series has already gone though a fair number of fist movesets and if you didn't get a Gene feel from any of them then I think the system or feel you seek from such a character might just not be preservable when shifted to a DMC context.
They've managed to make V a thing so they can do different stuff but I feel like whatever transplant that would occur if they even did try would be so dissimilar it's not even really worth using God Hand or Gene as a frame of Reference at that point.

There was a name drop of a demon named Machiavelli in the profile for Artemis in the gallery that is some demon weaponsmith. Wouldn’t be surprised if they are saving him as a boss in future dlc or something.

Machiavelli came way too late to be in the Divine Comedy so it's not being namedropped for that reason. Would be interesting to see other names referenced like Brutus, Uberti, or Brunetto Latini.

I'd kind of just like him to fight barehanded for a while, but after absorbing enough pieces of Rebellion or just Angelo Demons in general he eventually merges them together to make his own sword.
