I just feel like Felghana final boss is more methodical. It has strict attack patterns and doesn't really move while Dalles likes to move all around the arena. I have hard time keeping track of all the shit that happens during his final phase.

It's a great game. Why is it a "great" game? Because it's a laid back casual JRPG (Unlike Breath of the Wild and Dragon Quest XI). The main problem with the game is that it's now either overpriced or out of stock, everywhere except for PSN.
reminder, ps4 version is cucked out of all the dlc costumes because nisa couldn't be bothered release them costumes.
Switch and vita are the superior versions of the game. And most likely the upcoming android version as well.

Actually no. All the DLC on the switch version is the same as what Vita got. And that's a lot of costumes and accessories.
PS4 version has one costume... and that's fucking it. The Eternian Scholar costume is the only fucking dlc on the PS4 for some reason or another. If you go to the dlc screen on the ps4 version, it's fucking empty except for that costume.

They really should revamp the skill system. Currently there's too much trash and you just end up spamming 1-2 strongest abilities all the time.
There's virtually no point to use anything with Adol but Brave Charge or Force Edge.
But judging by what we know about the next game it's just going to continue the same trend, now with probably even less focus on Adol himself.

The issue is Ys that is like Dragon Quest, though to a much lesser extent; it's influential and historic in Japan, but only has a niche following outside of it. It doesn't have DQ's popularity though, so that might explain the lack of porn, even though the waifus are cute. Besides, who needs porn and waifus when you've got adventure?
I'd prefer if instead of holding a trigger and then pressing a face button, all of your skills could be used with a combination of button presses/movements so I can have everything at my disposal like the AI.

I've only got a couple of hours into Celceta and I really don't like it. You have to master flash guard/dash (parrying) right off the bat if you're playing on Nightmare
They just need to move away from this god awful system all together. I hate having to switch in characters I don't want to use because I need it for enemy weakness, I hate having to just sit there and waiting to jump into an attack so I can spam flash guards and like you said the game just ends up you being spamming your strongest skill.

One of the rewards for beating 8 is being able turning the system off so that you can go solo Adol, so I think they know it's disliked. They're probably pressured to keep the system because it brings in more sales, considering how niche Falcom is.

Literally everything that Kekseki ever did has been done by literally any other jrpg series, but better and ten years before. There was never a dull moment in this game for me. I was always entertained. I rarely ever get lost in a game. If I'm not having a great time in a game, I lose interest. I play games to enjoy myself, to chill out, to get lost in a new world. I don't play games to frustrate myself, to have some tedious activity to waste time in, or anything like that. I want to have fun. I want to get lost in this world and just soak in it.
Ys VIII totally did that for me. I loved everything about it. Your mileage may vary, but it was exactly what I was looking for and the (true) ending left me gutted.
One of the very few games I've fallen in love with. When it was over I felt like Malcolm McDowell at the beginning of Star Trek Generations.

It's decent but the story is terrible and it's by far the longest Ys game which is a bit of a drawback when the combat is exceedingly simplistic.
