I did and it's not very good

They are

Learn what remake means

SMT I and II are really overrated. They have decent stories and music and good art for the time but the gameplay is shallow trash. I agree they could both use a remake but it doesn't seem like a priority for Atlus. Pretty sure they said that if anything they've thought about doing a Nocturne remake.

no one cares about smt except for 4 autistics from Yea Forums
I see more possible a remake of persona 1 and 2

I actually played the game in that picture. It is so fucking shit, it's perplexing.

The ps1 version is a remake though. Entirely new graphics, backgrounds, and music, rebalanced combat and encounter rate, and new plot elements in the gba version makes them remakes.

Stfu personanigger. You won’t have your stupid spin off if SMT didn’t exist

cope

I agree, mostly just because the gameplay really drags them down, but they're great in concept and when you're not slogging through the combat and the awful encounter rates it can be pretty engaging. They're games that would actually benefit from a remake because of how obviously flawed they are as opposed to Nocturne which is already a really good game, even if it isn't perfect and some good changes could be made to it. I think it would be a shame for them to remake Nocturne over 1 or 2.

Oh trust me I couldn't agree more. I just remember last year I saw a press release where they said that. I love SMT I and II but I frequently wonder how many people on Yea Forums who claim to have played it actually did because you will see people talk about SMT game play is so much better than Persona or something similar and it's like yea maybe like half the SMT games but the other half are straight dogshit and are saved by the atmosphere they create and the story they tell. Basically I frequently see people on here imply they had good gameplay and it always makes me wonder if people on Yea Forums just pretend to have played them which is really weird.

Hold up !

I'd love a remake of the first game on the Etrian or Soul Hackers engine. SMT2 and KMT are fine though.

Was the SMT part in the name in Jap as well or did they add it in localization like they did to Persona 4?

If it's in relation to Persona then it's usually just shitposting, some people will say anything in SMT is done better than in Persona just because a lot of people have an undying hatred for it. Their gameplay really isn't comparable in so many ways that I don't think it's even fair to say any one SMT game has better gameplay than any one Persona game, they have some mechanics that can be fairly compared, but I think the games are typically just too different to say one is better than the other.

I imagine Raidou's combat was a greater detriment to its success than its title. I wouldn't really want a remake of it either way though, even though I love Raidou 1 and seeing it with good combat would be great, I'd much rather just have Raidou 3 if they're going to do anything with him.

It wasn't there, it was just Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Souless Army.

I know console/PC war stupidity would make Yea Forums blow it's goddamn lid, but I still hope and pray one day we get a port of the SMT games on PC or something. I still have a lot of the PS2 games, but I'd kill for an easier way to just get the original shit. Hell, I'd kill for the PS2 stuff to get ported as well, with better resolution and everything. I know emulation is an option, but it's so finnicky at times if my PC is willing to even run it when I do get it set up.

I'm hoping that Sega's push towards porting games, such as Yakuza, will lead to SMT (and possibly Persona) getting moved around. If the Persona 5 S is actually a Switch port, that'd be a good sign of them loosening up, which is exciting. But who knows, could be another fighting game or some bullshit.

Figured as much. I can understand adding it to Persona 4 because that's a relatively short title but Jesus what were they thinking making that title LONGER.

SMT1 only just got a remake announced, so I'd say be patient.

>Their gameplay really isn't comparable in so many ways
It really depends on the game but I do agree that it makes the most sense to just judge all these Atlus games on their own merits. Not because they're too different but because most are really similar in a lot of ways but then make changes sometimes for the sake of different gameplay which I appreciate. Part of which one you like most comes down to personal preference since you can argue pros and cons for a lot of the changes and differences in the ones that do have good gameplay.

Why was SMT IV's setting so kino?

>All this cool concept art
>Just for the final product to look drastically different
Hurts every time lads.

3DS couldn't do it justice
A lot of the background art is similar to the concepts, but the 3D world wasn't

I wish IV had been that cool

SMT II is so buggy and barely improved from I and the story isn't even that good and the dungeons are so awful. Most overrated game in the series.
