The controls are outdated as they were meant for melee and haven't changed since, and the way they made AI that'd rather focus on playing defense heavy games with tons of dodging leads to even single player matches being boring. It's stale and I hope Ultimate is the last Smash.

It's less about Snake and more about grenades. I hate how those things basically interrupt combos and follow-ups because the start-up is so fast Snake can pull one right before getting hit again. Depending on the matchup he never have to worry about landing on stage and always recover high because grenades can cover his descend. Worst case scenario he gets a trade, which heavily favors him. It's just really boring from a spectator's point of view.
