now that the dust has settled, what went wrong?
hardmode: not online
Now that the dust has settled, what went wrong?
>game is entirely online
>not online
Dude.
private servers out yet?
id play this game if it was offline and you could import all fo4 mods since its basically the same game
i dont play modern fallout for rpg, i play them for an open world shooter
Don't be silly, that was just something they said to trick more people into buying.
Don't bother, the anti-hoarding mechanisms made the game supremely unfun even if you can turn a blind eye to its many other flaws.
>id play this game if it was offline and you could import all fo4 mods since its basically the same game
what the fuck
why wouldnt you just play fo4
because 76 is a new map
You need to kill yourself
why? i already said that i dont consider modern fallout to be an rpg, you need to calm your autism down if you still judge it as such
its not even that interesting anyway, there's like two unique cities
the map is incredibly empty and shit. sure its 4x as big or whatever but its 10x more empty. no npcs really makes it feel lonely and not in a good way
really? i thought itd have more shit in it
Yeah I'm with him the world would sincerely be improved if you did the right thing and kys
It would be easier to make a list of things that didn't go wrong.
It's just fucking boring people shit on 4 for having a shit story it made 4 look like New Vegas in comparison.
Bethesda is so fucking lazy that they used online to have an excuse to not put in anything of worth, since "the players make their own story"
i think he means "hard mode: can't just say that it's because it was online"
the underlying story in 76 is actually pretty cool, too bad you're just examining the remains and corpses of it after the fact instead of participating in it.
Ok, so what did go right? I'm curious.
What is the story?
This is one of the biggest reasons I think, the other is that it had a whole lot of bugs on release. Couple that with no modding, the game was subject only to fixes through Bethesda's incompetent team
lack of world building
the idea of being in an apocalypse raiding and raping with your friends is fine
having no NPCs around one one hand suits an apocalypse and on the other is understandable from a gameplay perspective(griefing the shit outa them)
the engine is perfectly serviceable if far from perfect
the game may have been better received if less popular by increasing difficulty of surviving making the teaming up a logical conclusion rather than the optional feature in an exclusively multiplayer game that it is
actually mildly curious too..
The muh so singleplayer circle jerk crowd got triggered and blamed it on online for being garbage when in fact it was more or less the same shitty buggy mess as fallout 4.
Why are you so retarded?
no npcs was the worst decision possible
Lol no, it actually has less interesting locations than 4 even.
This. A huge part of the charm of all Bethesda games is the NPCs. And they just eliminated them all
>What went wrong
-Community not allowed to fix game
-Devs in charge of "Balance"
-"Balance" to appease PVP, then the immediate removal of PVP into it's own mode with the changes staying
-Any and all ways of Exp and resources nerfed into the ground
-Story quests can set out of order by other players
-Game started with 45% of the quests of FO4
-Game forces you to run through all factions
-All elements from previous fallout games shoehorned in in the worst possible way with the exception of the enclave being joinable
this "no npc" meme makes no sense, first of all enemies are by definition npcs and the game still has non-hostile robots
>return of item durability
>level locked items
>settlement land is too small
>game is balanced around having your own settlement for crafting and storage
>crafting and storage is required
>PvP options are included, but agression is punished so hard that they shouldn't even have bothered
>interaction with other players is limited to trading with randoms and cooping with friends. it might as well be a singleplayer game.
>enemies are bullet sponges if they're a higher level than you, piss easy if they're lower
>complete lack of enemy ai
>questing is worse than mmo-tier
>no mods to fix any of this for at least another year
Don't be an autistic dumbfuck, you can clearly tell from the context of these messages that they meant neutral NPCs you can actually interact with in ways other than combat. And yeah there's a few of those robots around but fuck robots, they're more appliances than real personalities.
>five factions
>Responders - basically the minutemen, made up of pre war police, medics, etc. wanted to form an alliance with the BoS but being the BoS, they dont trust outsiders.
>The Brotherhood of Steel - Small chapter, trying to Super Mutant and the Scorched threat at bay
>Free States - stretched thin, need help but dont like the responders nor the BoS since they despise authority figures
>Enclave - have plans of their own and a psychopathic, paranoid “president“ who is responsible for the Scorchbeasts
>many minor factions like the Order of Mystery or the group living in the Whitesprings, different raider groups which actually have their own lore like the Christmas flood of Charleston
if the game was set during the time of the Scorched disease outbreak with all of these factions it would be absolutely amazing. You have all these different factions who have to bond for a greater goal (destroying the Scorched) and you would be the person to make that happen, or not, depending on your choices.
>you can clearly tell from the context of these messages that they meant neutral NPCs you can actually interact with in ways other than combat
So robots?
Reading this, the rumours that 76 was originally going to be a new vegas-like spinoff makes sense
>being retarded on purpose
no endgame
its a fucking online game, there should be endless dungeon raids and PvP, but there is nothing (yet)
i think vaults are gonna become dungeon raids in an update soon
like we got "the burrows" a "dungeon for at least two high lvl chracters"?
No, what you just said fits the description of the robots in the game perfectly. Prove me wrong you fucking autist
>npc means muh human
No it fucking doesn't
>in an update soon
is anybody even playing it anymore?
i havent played since december, whats the burrows?
for some reason: yes
they got a roadmap for 2 expansions this year. im curious to see what the nuclear winter mode is
Literally a lazy mod pack for fallout 4
like a lot of people? enough to make major updates? i dont really believe that
the biggest mistake was making it in gamebryo desu. why they tried to frankenstein online into that engine instead of using another one is beyond me
Because developing a new engine is way too expensive. I dont expect anybody to believe me but I know how these things work and the gamebryo (now known as creation engine or some shit) is the same fucking engine theyve used since at least morrowind because you can keep adding new exceptions to it to keep the thing going but at this point there are so many exceptions adding anything new could literally break anything which is evident from the amount of bugs the game has
Jesus christ im looking forward to their new scifi rpg since it still uses the same engine its going to be glorious, todd really has to update his shit at some point. Hes gonna have to waste dozens of millions on QA alone
You already got your answer you stupid bitch you're being a retarded nigger on purpose.
mobile phone tier grinding for almost everything in the game
having to pay caps to fucking fast travel, and having a fucking daily limit for trading caps with vendors
the inevitable wave of pay 2 win items in the cash shop
artificial difficulty through bulletsponge enemies
No option to create your own private servers so players can use mods
The only reason I'm still playing the game is because I actually like the game world, and the exploration aspect of the game is just as fun and interesting as it was in Fallout 3. Once I'm done traveling through the whole map the game is dropped.
I'd be pissed if I paid more than 20 dollars for the game.
What you just said fits the description of the robots in the game perfectly. Prove me wrong you fucking autist
>npc means muh human
No it fucking doesn't
>repeating yourself
Get yourself patched NPC
but for an online spinoff they should have used unreal or whatever ESO uses.
What you just said fits the description of the robots in the game perfectly. Prove me wrong you fucking autist
>npc means muh human
No it fucking doesn't
>>repeating yourself
Because you have no argument
Try again
They didn't use unreal because fallout 76 was never supposed to be an online game. It was supposed to be a spin-off much like New vegas. But todd saw the online service money and changed direction when it was way too late
>"Balance" to appease PVP, then the immediate removal of PVP into it's own mode with the changes staying
I'm fine with this. I don't want to be forced into participating with other players in a game that clearly doesn't know if it wants to be singleplayer or multiplayer. Being chased around the map by some level 200 asshole trying to chip away at my health while I just want to explore is obnoxious as fuck.
PvP should be an action that's initiated by both players, or contained within a specific part of the map like in Runescape. The always on PvP bullshit was horrible, and an exclusive gamemode for PvP is beneficial for every type of player. Although there's clearly issues that need to be addressed with survival mode, like the excessive spawn killing.
is there proof of this
I dont know if the other guy has any proof but it's a rumor like I said. It really makes sense all things considered
what evidence is there?
literally me. i'm just playing as a scav using whatever I find while exploring every location on the map.
>fuck crafting
>fuck food and drink
>fuck 'events' and PVE
>fuck '''quests'''
>fuck grinding
will delete my bethesda account when i'm done. only paid 20 for the key.
I already said I have none, if there was any it wouldnt be a rumour
No, no proof. This is just my educated guess based on the work I've done with the industry and the fact that elder scrolls online exists not using gamebryo. You shouldnt believe me. Just my opinion
are you EU? ive only seen EU keys that cheap but im US
eu keys are in the same price range as american keys
i can never find US keys this cheap
is that from russia? cus again eu keys should be around the same price range
its an EU key, im looking for american keys that cheap
how much do NA keys cost in comparison?
it pisses me off that for the 3rd straight game, they reused the core music on the radio. the radio should have been more country and bluegrass, not the same exact bob cosby and andrew sisters in every game.
$45
that doesnt make any sense
