Liu Bei was like the rest of them, the only difference being he had some ancient Chinese propaganda you fell for. Dynasty Warriors isn't exactly the most credible source.

Specifically it's because the historian/writer for Water Margin had one of Liu Beis descendants as a patron so he was forced to hype up how great Liu Bei was at all points in the story

>The 14th-century historical novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms gives a similar description about Liu Bei's physical appearance, but with additional features. It mentions that Liu Bei is seven chi and five cun tall, with ears so large that they touch his shoulders and that he can even see them, long arms that extend beyond his knees, a fair and handsome face, and lips so red that it seems as though he is wearing lipstick

Well you gotta give props to Wu, they managed to outlast the other two and it took the Jin dynasty a fuck huge navy just to conquer them.

He was basically carried by Guan Yu and Zhang Fei

What Liu Bei was good at was managing people. Not much else.

I think you mean Zhuge Liang. Guan Yu and Zhang Fei were glorified bodyguards.

>t.seething baby kicker
Battle of fancheng best day of my life

I feel like Wus biggest issue is koei never knew what to do with them. They were just kind of "the third guys". Shu were good guys, Wei were ruthless guys, Jin were scheming guys/not!Tokugawa

Wu was just kind of there. Best way to explain Wu is they were basically the mafia, very family oriented. Also the most militaristic, even though their generals and officers weren't the most famois

Cao Cao really wanted Guan Yus blue dragon dick so he must have had some capability because Cao Cao only respected talent.

Cao Cao and Sima Yi were so good in that show

I think any true musou fan watched three kingdoms

i'd say more like he was carried by Fa Zheng, Wei Yan, Huang Zhong, and Zhang Fei.

Guan Yu was a pretty strong guy but that was it, Zhuge Liang was pretty good with everything except war.

I agree, I think at best the Wu just wanted the Jiangdong Shu promised for helping them fight Wei at the Red Cliffs

Imagine serving cao cao and getting constantly cucked by him when he feels like fucking one of his generals wives or executed for being too intelligent

Wei and Shu are based. Wu fags should burn along with their fire fetish.

Was worried about how the game would turn out from hearing about it the past couple months and got very worried after seeing Thrones of Britannia but I just watched Lionheart play a bit of a campaign and it looks promising. It appears CA listened to criticism and upped the unit count to extreme as well as built the game on their 64 bit engine.
Mechanics were added but it doesn't look streamlined as a matter of fact it looks like diplomacy and politics have been made more indepth and complex. Another big thing is people were worrying how musou-ified the game would be but beyond duels hero units play no bigger a role than units do in Warhammer but don't influence to battle nearly as much.
All-in-all I was expecting nothing from CA but now that I see the game this close to release I have to say I'm feeling some hype I haven't felt for any game in a very long while. Still unhappy about day one DLC, however.

It's quite odd for people here to praise cao cao for his ruthless strategies yet to get mad at other bugmen for being as ruthless in online games and business.

At least the DLC is just yellow turbans, who is at this point in the story kinda just related to bandits and past memes. Not like they did for Rome and cut off the greek states. Imagine if they announced Sun Jian as day 1 dlc only.

Fuck u tigers and fire are badass ur just jealous

Didn't China just place a ban on games that portray their imperial past? Koei Tecmo was fresh from pandering towards the chinese market with Dinasty Warriors 9 having several events in China and debuting the chinese dub for the series, this new ban completely fucks over their attempts to appeal the chinese market.

>t. Qingshitter

Literally no one can say the Three Kingdoms factually happened.

Cao cao was basically Chinese Oda Nobunaga and Yea Forums loves that tyrannical madman too

>my understanding of history is based entirely on memes :D

Wu is the most overrated shit in this shithole.

Okay thats just bullshit. So youre saying that nothing happened between 190 AD and 280 AD and the Jin dynasty just miraculously popped open? The Three kingdom periods is literally where Korea, Japan and to an extent Vietnam owe the first record mentions of their countries. Sun Quan of Wu has personally met diplomats from ancient Japan when it wasnt called Japan back then.

Don't give them any ideas. CA has been good so far handling the game but I would be completely unsurprised if they pulled some jewry. After all, I can't see what side-campaigns could be made for the game since CA just loves to cram those into their historical titles to rake in DLCbux.

History memes are more fun. No would like hitler if not for the jew memes

does this shit ever pick up?

I'm a few chapters in and the storytelling seems really random.

Good for the rest of us then. Don't have to worry about pandering to Chinese market or said Chinamen bitching about potential misrepresentation.

alright user tell me your version of what happened between 180 and 280, surely you'll be able to provide me with hardcore evidence that this didn't exist.

Go away /twg/, your other thread got autosaged.

Why don't you care about the history of people who actually mattered? European and Middle Eastern history is much more interesting.

We said go away /twg/

They're all the fucking same. Chinese, Japanese, dirty knees, look at these.

Not to derail the thread, but what was up with that China ban on games based on their empire of old? Are games about the Romance of the Three Kingdoms and Ancient China a no go now? I doubt they will be made at all, if they can't sell them on the biggest market.

I like it but there are too many "HOWEVER" moments. just got trough battle of Xiapi and I had to stop from being overwhelmed by all the keikakus. Also, Cao Cao doesnt seem that great here, certainly no Sun, and he seems to be always beat by LiuBei so far.

but Zhang Liao is my Sengokubando and I like that this ravages is giving him a lot of focus

Here's another (you) for you. Make sure to use it wisely

Yeah, the starts a bit rough, couldn't say exactly when it picks up though

once uon a time, there was no history prior to the Communist takover. then they saw how the Soviets fell and decided to play the capitalists in their own game and are now using the Sengoku as a cultural commodity

Cao Cao does get the shaft a bit, pissed me off when I was reading it
Felt like everybody else got their moment to shine but him, even when they keep telling you how great he is, it's never really show
I'm only like 270 chapters in myself, though, can't say if he'll start getting more screentime

except we have found the corpses of many of the leaders depicted? are you retarded?

I'm calling it right now, Samurai forefathers pack is going to be a thing. We'll be getting Nankoku "raiders" appearing looking like proto-samurai, 1000+ years before they were a thing.

>Three Kingdoms
>none of them won in the end
It somehow saddens me.

Cao Cao was based

Well yeah they already have renown units like Warhammer does so foreign units would be the only way they could go besides mabye new campaigns of new dynasties.

That disappointed the shit shit out of me when I first started learning about the period. Dynasty Warriors ended at the Wu Zhang plains and I was wondering what happened after that, why did it stop right there, and who won so I did some reading and found out some rando just anticlimactically swooced right in and assumed the throne established a new dynasty. Big letdown.

>Liu Bei did nothing right.
FTFY

Him and every other warlord shithead couldn’t stop making the exact same shithead mistakes.

Shu niggers can fuck off. Their realm fell, their warring achieved nothing except mayhem. World would have had been better off if they had bent the knee for Cao Cao

>Dynasty Warriors ended at the Wu Zhang plains and I was wondering what happened after that,
You talking about the very first game on PS1 or the series as whole? Because from DW7 onwards they start to show who won in the end.

Shit really? I've played them all up till 6 and then empires for 7 and 8. Didn't know they expanded the story.

they do, unfortunately Jin spends nearly all their levels either dropping Jiang Wei (again) fighting their own rebelling officers, or Lianshi, Ding Feng, and Wu generics

Reminder that Dong Zhuo did even less wrong

>Lianshi
Didn't she died a bit early and that's one of the reasons her husband went insane in the last years of his rule in Wu?

>not being a wu chad
Cringe

Or the warlords could not have been power greedy cunts and let the Han retain their rule.

i'd say the death of his first son played a bigger factor desu.

Sounds uninteresting but I'll have to give Koei and Omega Force credit for actually trying to bring the era to a proper close in their games. Are the later games even good. All I've really been playing is Empires because you can make a game out of the same story for only so many installments.

Attached: 1405934650649.png (256x224, 6K)

Who Total War here?

"Oh, my people...".

Makes sense

Heard good things about 7, a little less about 8, avoid 9 at all cost.

Me. This will be the first Total War game I pirate.

>Wu
>Want to unite and rule the land
>But too much of a pussy to act
>Their archivement is all about defensive battle and backstabbing your own ally like a dumb fuck.
>Chad

Absolute Beta mother fucker. Sun Ce and Zhou Yu died for nothing because Quan was too much of a pussy. Wu is lucky that Cow Pee is dumb as a brick.

7 does the story better than 8 allegedly, I haven't played it so won't talk, but I enjoyed 8, a lot of cool new characters/movesets (Lu Su, Lingqi, Han Dang,Yinping)
the hypotheticals and Lu Bu story arc are nice, ambition mode on it is trash though

I don't really have any faith in CA doing the setting justice but i'm hoping it'll be good.

>We're literally living in a global version of three kingdoms right now.

>Backstabbing their own ally
>SHu steal Jing province and won't give it back, even after establishing a base in the riverlands.

>btfo’d shus legendary general after they betrayed them
>outlast both shu and wei

They really poured out some love and effort for the story mode in 7. It felt bad going to 8 because it felt disjointed in comparison.

Reminder that Cao Cao was a Han Loyalist

youtube.com/watch?v=Pcu8A_-pu1c

Not exactly, it's more like pre three kingdoms.

Noted. I dropped the main series after it started going full on anime.

Hypothetical scenarios are one of my favorite things about the series which is why I play Empires instead to make my own campaigns although Dynasty Tactics did alternate storylines the best, if only I wasn't trash at it and more people were aware it existed.

Talked about it earlier in the thread. Looks more promising than Britannia and talk of it a few months ago made it out to be. Looks like CA addressed and fixed some concerns about the game as well as it not being as streamlined as sequential Total War titles tend to be.

It's about the day one DLC, isn't it? If it did one thing goods it's made me realize it is CA we're dealing with and kept my hype properly grounded.

>Get fucking rape by Sima clan of all people.
It's even more shitty than getting trash by Wei, to be honest.

Both kingdoms we're a shell of their former selves. Their legendary commanders dead and the lands full of corruption and incompetence. The only thing surprising is that it didn't happen sooner.

>tfw your strategy was perfect but the heavens mock you

IT'S NOT FAIR SHU BROS

Attached: 1448212937015.jpg (1280x720, 62K)

I was retarded put a comma in "were" but the point still stands

>Hypotheticals
Yeah they're pretty good, and I like how they're started at a battle where they originally lost (CHibi for Wei, Hefei for Wu, Fan Castle for Shu), although Wu's arc is pretty weak after the 1st or 2nd hyp. chapter

MY LAND

i did a xiahou dun run, it was pretty alright once i figured out how everything worked but i'm not sure i'd recommend it.

>It's about the day one DLC, isn't it?
More about the wealth of CA's recent politically infused content.

But yeah, their DLC policy is kind of fucked up too. I can afford it and in the end even the low quality ones usally make the game better, so their laziness and exploitative pricing don't bother me as much as they probably should. Ended up buying everything for Shogun 2, Warhammer and Warhammer 2 until Vampire Coast came out and had a blast with them.

And Han retards could have not delegated power to immoral and decadent eunuchs who ran the country to ground

The Yellow Turbans saw the corruption of the Han way too early.

More like 100 years too late

I'VE TAKEN OUT AN OFFICER

>Lu Su,Lü Meng,Zhang Liao and Cao Ren dream team never
>No Sima Yi Jin vs Cao Cao Wei deathmatch
Instead we get a story with literal shounen heroes ,Sun Jian and Sun Ce being footnotes at best, pedo murderer Zhang Fei named as a ''honorabru hero with a drinking problem'',Wei Yan as ''''Kongming''''''s personal onahole
Make it interested if you are just gonna make stuff up you damn rice nigger

You would never have known anything about the period without the novel.

>Gan Ning still with the faggot flail.
>Wang Yi lost her cool weapons from 8 as well
I just want my fav characters to be cool again!

is warrior orochi 4 gonna do a ultimate edition or whatever. or is it too soon for that.
been plowing through 3 atm.

It was good as far as translating a musou into a GBA game could go. Meanwhile I feel like I'm the only person on Yea Forums that played pic related. I'm just glad they brought it back in spirit as GodSeekers, although it's not quite the same and has been anime-fied. 2 did introduce Lu Bu's qt3.14 daughter though. Only took Koei a hundred years to bring her into the main series.

Attached: Dynasty Tactics.jpg (320x445, 43K)

>is warrior orochi 4 gonna do a ultimate edition
Almost certainly.

Personally no but true that many wouldnt know it.Just wish it was better, that's all, like maybe not focus on making the literal bandits and child rapists as the rad faction when you have such legends.

game sucks though

Attached: blank_image.png (287x405, 211K)

I haven't played DW9 but I was really looking forward to it's release until literally everyone began shitting on it. Is it really as bad as I have read?

Is the show worth watching? How many episodes?

Attached: 1519015880507.jpg (500x373, 41K)

95 episodes, and if you ever enjoyed the games and the time period then yes you should give it a watch. Each episode is an hour long so it is a bit of an investment, but it never felt like a drag to get through any of the episodes. Only parts that made me want to skip where the Lu Bu + Diao Chan romance and thankfully that doesn't last long.

There are some shitty skippable episodes with Shu and Wu,although Wei focused ones are always good and the other factions get interesting episodes later on too.

He literally started with nothing and through cunning and backstabbing ended up one of the major powers of the era. Not bad for somebody 'incompetent'. Guy was a snake but give him some credit.

I still have it. Miles better than that DS abomination.

Pssh, that's nothing. I'm the only one who bought this game before I even had a PS3, played every single release of this game, (but returned the PS2 version because who thought backporting a PS3 game to PS2 was a good idea, game ran like shit), and is still my favorite one. Yeah, and I'm not talking about the Empires version either.

Was it really that bad?
