It has lots of characters to choose from (108 Stars of Destiny), majority of them can become party members, the party itself consists of 6 characters that you can give commands to during battle. You can also form unite attacks with them, similar to techs in Chrono Trigger.

This album was released on December 2018. Total of 5 CDs, each dedicated to one of the Suikoden games.
They also relaunched the Suikoden website a couple of months back.
Now why would they go through the effort of releasing something like that out of nowhere, hm.

Anybody else like Suikoden 1 over 2? 2 went overboard with the anime expressions and dialogue and 1 actually had some challenge to it. Plus the mc was way better and had a better story.

I like the story and music of the first Suikoden is better. The True Rune that Tir wields is a much more tragic and interesting artifact than The Sword and The Shield, but other than that I can't deny what a step up Suikoden II over the first game is.
