So you losers ready for link Evolution? Apparently the west may be getting uncensored card art with the game getting a T rating for partial nudity (exposed ass and breast) for the first time ever.

Isn't legacy of the duelist the game that looked and felt like it had a 20$ budget?
I mean its on the other platforms too. Just not up to date.
>Link monsters
Yeah. New version looks to be $30. 30 bucks for 9000+ cards is alright to me. There has been a little polish now that there's Japanese involvement. Hope the deck builder is less ass this time.
How did you find it? is it just not on the EU eshop yet?
I thought this didn't come out for the West until later this year
The JP version should be out on the 25th tho
It's in the Japanese eshop. I just bought 5000 eshop points on play asia.
It features full English in the Japanese version so there isn't really a reason not to buy it on the Japanese eshop if you can.
I don't care about this shit, wake me up when there's a new Tag Force Game
Any idea if we can change the language to English?
Japanese games are dead on Sony platforms. Move on grandpa.
It should just pick whatever your system language is.
Ah thought as much, the game's out already? or does it unlock on the 25th?
It just defaults to your system language settings
Wait, if it already has full English, why are they releasing the game at the same time as nipland?
Out on the 25th (24th if you're in a western timezone). You can preload now.
Is there paid DLC on top of that?
I miss playing old Yu-Gi-Oh! so much. Right before when Synchros were introduced.
Europe is getting a physical release, so maybe it's to keep parity. It's dumb but it hasn't been the first time something like this has happened.
Probably, it's Konami after all
Here's the DLC for the original game
I THINK(not sure) these should be in the updated Switch version
It's all the old dlc and a ton of other content to flesh out Arc V baked in. Hopefully they don't do what they did last time. Hopefully they don't attempt what they did in
It was such a bad value proposition most people I know didn't even touch it.
Show burstinatrix. Then we'll see.
Why should I buy this instead of playing Duel Links and YGOpro?
It's not even listed on the eshop for me so I can't confirm.
If you want up to date single player Yugioh.
From the official site.
Key Features
Build and customize a Deck from more than 9,000 cards, the most in anyYu-Gi-Oh!Trading Card Game video game
Challenge other players with local-play or Nintendo Switch Online
The addition of Link Monster cards not only change the way seasoned Duelists play their cards, but where they play them
Take on the roles of the animated series’ villains with Reverse Duels
Compete with Battle Packs for Sealed play and Draft play
Includes all previously releasedYu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelistcontent
If I can unlock cards from just playing SP, and it doesn't require payment to keep up, I'll pick this up. Both of those things have kept me away from card games for so long.
>Duel Links
absolutely fuck that trash
>YGOpro
depends on if you'd rather learn the game in singleplayer or just go full meta tierwhore online. If the former play this if the latter stick with YGOpro
Yeah. Yugioh video games are always a pretty good value proposition. Everything is unlocked in game from duel points you earn dueling. We have yet to see what their dlc plans are, but you're getting 9000 cards in your purchase.
If it's like the original LOTD then yeah you buy card packs in the shop with points you get from playing or just get cards from winning matches rather than it being a moneysink. The DLC might be egregious but if they're including the original's DLC as basegame content here then you've got a lot of shit to work with. Unless you really care about Links-era cards you'll probably be 100% fine with just the base game purchase.
Are you forced to use the new rules? The Extra Monster Zone is retarded.
youtube.com
I don't know man if you skip to like an hour and 16 minutes in it looks pretty similar but with one new scenario and the associated mechanic. I'd rather have something new and online is going to die out quickly as well I suspect. And I'm sure it'll end up having a similar DLC scheme.
Nah, you can just use cards from older generations and never touch the new stuff.
I haven't played a Yu-Gi-Oh game since the DS, so this sort of a release is attractive to me if they don't fuck it up.
Duel Links has balance issues, isn't up to date, is based on the speed dueling format, which limits deck building and the field you have, and on top of all that you generally have to pay in order to get 3 copies of those URs you so desperately need.
If you haven't played Yugioh in a while, it's probably the best place to start. Going through the campaign is a great way to follow the history of the game and baby step your way through more and more of the new additions incrementally.
Yes, you're stuck with the Extra Monster Zone limiting your Fusion/Synchro/Xyz decks if you don't run Links.
I'm kinda glad my preferred archetype doesn't give a fuck about the extra deck since MR4 fucked all those decks to high heaven
Campaign mode is really fun, you get can use story mode decks or user created decks
WHEN IS IT RELEASING ON NINTENDO SWITCH IN USA? I know this Summer but is there a more accurate date? I already know it releases in Japan on April 25th
>duel monsters video game
I was always cursed to pick the Yu-Gi-Oh games with non-traditional rules.
I only played one of the GBA ones, but I loved the anime never played the card game IRL because no friends
Should I get this?
sure
How is that a curse? It was a good game if a little slow and I think Capsule Monsters looked cool.
This one was fine, but all of the other games I would get were less fine.
>Not superior Duelist of The Roses
I would kill for an updated version
is gx tag force really my only option if I want to play without xyz/pendulum/syhncro bullshit?
all I want is a power of chaos but with updated cards to end of gx
psp has wacky controls
I want a mouse focused game
Just don't play past the GX content in Legacy.
>Should i play an outdated to game to play outdated cards
>Duelist of The Roses
>a normal DM game compared to this RTS glory
It's odd that these and Forbidden Memories all have the same ost though, but it's top notch anyway.
legacy is just a bad console port
not mouse focused at all
and online is either dead or can't select classic mode only
stfu
classic = good
xyz/synhrco/pendulum = bad
I don't want to play solitaire and waiting for the opponent to summon 5 3000/3000 monsters in one turn
If you want to learn the game or catch up on all the new shit they've added since you were a kid Legacy of the Duelist is your best bet and this is just that but with Links too now so yeah I'd say get it.
If you already know what you're doing and want to play with people online you're probably better off just playing YGOpro.
If you're trying to play an outdated format online I have some bad news for you.
Man, I can't fucking wait to curb stomp faggots with this shitty mentality. Explain to me why the TCG/OCG have been gaining more and more participants since the introduction of Link monsters then?

You have no friends, don't like playing against people online, prefer playing against the CPU, like earning your cards and using what you have instead of having everything from the jump, can ignore Legacy's subpar visuals, and want a YGO game that isn't mobile shit that will be physical later in Yurop.
synchros and XYZs are good
pendulums depend on the deck but are mostly fine
links are cancer but that's more related to the MR4 changes than the cards themselves
If you're new or a returning player that's missed several generations you're fucking crazy if you think ygopro should be recommended.
what the fuck?
LINKS?
now there is a FOURTH new card type?
>Playing with Master Rule 4
How about no.
How does buying shit in different regions work on the switch? Do I have to make another account?
But does it force you to use the new link monster rules? If so it's a no buy for me.
based
Hence why I just said literally everything in that post you pavement ape. YGOPro will overwhelm shitters because of the vast card library and being paired up against human opponents that will almost always be playing meta if they blindly play in a ranked server. Not to mention almost none of them will know of the version with an A.I. that plays like shit if it's not using a pre-made script.
Besides, Duel Links is more tailored to shitters anyway thanks to its more restrictive format that offers both competitive play and dumb A.I. to train on. The only thing Legacy genuinely has going for it is that it's literally the only YGO game on a modern console.
You have to make a Japanese account and unless you have a credit card that allows foreign purchases, you'll need to get eshop points from play asia or something.
You're forced to use the new board, but only the campaign featuring Links will use it, so you can just ignore it.
>comparing DDT/Airblade turbo to the current cancer of handtraps vs unplayable boards featuring link spam
The deck ran cold the moment you flipped threatening roar against them and since their field had no negates on there it was easy to just pick them off the following turn. Chimeratech OTK would be a better comparison as they had Jinzo/Spell Canceller to deal with but the pace of the game was slower (they had to rely on gold sarcophagus to search) due to fewer special summon options aside from dropping Cydra or actually getting the future fusion/overload off so you had more time to draw cards like Solemn judgment (was at 3 at the time) or Threatening Roar to allow you to have more time.
Okay so I'll be able to just summon XYZ like normal and not be forced into the new zones? Also if you play a bot match or whatever the game has, can you choose to not use the new zone rules?

>NEW BAD
>OLD GOOD
Spoken like a true shitter
If you just stick to the the campaign it's a non issue. I think you can set the bots to be based on a series, but I'm not certain.
Yugioh was never good.
Pokemon and Magic did TCG's better
Pokemon is going to shit too. It's been a downward spiral since wizards lost the contract, and it keeps getting worse.
Even with the link monster shit, I'm excited for a new YGO vidya
I played a metric fuckload of LOTD and if this one's as great-feeling to play as that (maybe with an option to skip special monster animations please for fuck's sake) I'll probably play even more of it.
Pendulum can be some real bullshit, but Xyz and Synchro were pretty cool imo
A new and actually interesting way to summon powerful monsters without just combining two things or sacrificing literally anything you have on the field.
Its not Duel Carnival, so that alone makes me excited for the new game.
is it f2p?
>Poke "race to get an "GX sweeper on the board" mon
>Magic "caters to trans and SJW" the Gathering
No way fag. I'll stick to my Mahvel of card games. Handtraps may be for faggots, but at least you can do some crazy shit in YGO vs any other card game.
As far as I know it isn't, it'll be another up-front purchase where you can unlock all the cards.
>Americans get the different zelda cover digitally too
huh
I remember playing the Pokemon TCG even like three years ago when Mega-EX's were a thing and it somehow got EVEN MORE broken how the fuck does that happen? Is power-creep just a thing that follows Pokemon wherever it goes, is it unavoidable or something? I guess they have to keep the game interesting sure, but for fuck's sake they just really really love making old stuff worthless.
As for Magic I literally couldn't care less who the company caters to as long as I can still play a few games at local game stores.
Wait, what did other places get? I'm Canadian and stuck with America's art, I didn't even know there were differences elsewhere.
Change your system location to Europe and Japan, don't worry its easily reversible. Europe and Japan have very different and arguably better art work.
Duel Links started pretty good, but it already got into unbalanced power creep bullshit and synchros are just making it far worse. Never mind the paywall to get some mandatory SR/URs on each box and Ancient Gears shitting on almost everything not named Koa'ki meiru or Six samurai now. Good luck trying to play any other archetype with maybe one or two exceptions
Well shit, that sucks
I'll have to check it out later.
That really fucking sucks.
Due Links was a great sort of abbreviation of the Yu-Gi-Oh main game, I always wondered how they would implement newer shit, I guess the answer is poorly.
>He unironically enjoys playing Yu- "first turn taking literally half an hour to shit out your entire main and extra deck so your opponent doesn't play the game" -Gi- "Spend 600 dollars on that season's top deck, every season" -Oh!
Duel links would be so much better if you could just pay a flat fee for each series' content and be done with it. Cracking packs digitally with real cash fucking sucks.
Also with the insane amount of grinding, I feel like I'm barely playing Yugioh as it's often easier to rely on auto duels.
How do I get rid of the japanese news, I already unsubbed from the jaapnese e-shop.
I kind of checked out at the point Pendulums were added. I thought Synchros were actually the coolest shit ever and Xyz were cool too, but Pendulums kind of just made the game too fast for my liking.
I wish it wasn't as rare to have enjoyed up Xyz instead of still enjoying the game or stopping before GX even started.
You could temporarily remove the account from the system. I had to do that with a European account because it was doubling my news feed. You only need the account for purchase, once your content is downloaded you don't need the Japanese account to play or update it.
Thanks I'll do that.
The problem with the flat-fee idea is that they'd have to charge something ludicrous like $60 per generation because if they only charged 20 or so then they'd have to justify to "whales" why they're paying like two bucks a pack when they could get literally everything for 20
>first turn taking literally half an hour to shit out your entire main and extra deck so your opponent doesn't play the game
1. Combo decks are fun.
2. There are more outs to "unbreakable boards" now than ever before.
3. The two best decks are the moment are slower, control-oriented decks, with one break my board deck falling a little behind.
>Spend 600 dollars on that season's top deck, every season
You don't even need to do this. Most of the expensive cards are the staples, not the deck core cards, and rogue decks are perfectly viable right now, and can be much, much cheaper.
meant for
obviously
I wish they went back to making world championship games.
2009-2011 games were the best the series ever had.
Yet, as I write this, I realize I wouldn’t even enjoy it because of all the stupid shit added after synchros.
While i do have to say that MR4 and links have made for a good and balanced game, i will say that that game isn't yugioh and i dont like it
I'd be okay with a yearly $60 for each generation if I knew I was getting a full experience. There are so many card packs to manage between the three generations it seems ludicrous to be expected to crack packs for all of them to stay up to date. Spending money in this game as it is now just seems pointless.
What decks are fun to play in Duel Links?
The original LOTD's animation and game speed were so slow compared to Tag force 7.
Looks like it's still the same janky game. They really needed to add a speed toggle and beef up the AI for the game
The animations seem a little faster at least for the special animations. Hopefully those are skippable and a speed option gets added.
I'm not getting a Yu-Gi-Oh game until I have the option to play with 2008 meta online. Spam your copypastas all you want, but Duel Links proved people prefer the pre synchro game.
And for the record no one has been saying they don't want the option to be there for synchros and pendulums and whatever blatant power creep cash grab comes next. Meta options are all people want.
Even better, it retroactively gimps the extra deck and special summons. It ironically deals with your xyz issue while imposing some confusing special summoning restrictions. You should probably just go back to Eternal Duelist Soul because none of this sounds like your game.
Even though I enjoy Synchro bullshit, this would be fucking great to have, honestly. The classic rules are great too and to deny people even the option to play that way is retarded.
Thank you for being understanding of this. It seems like it would be easy to implement and I'm convinced the reason they don't is so people get into the current Meta and feel encouraged to only buy modern cards
>but Duel Links proved people prefer the pre synchro game.
except it didn't, all it proved was people wanted a streamlined to play yugioh without having to worry about rules, the hassle of keeping up a physical collection, and smelly players at locals
if that was the case nobody would be playing duel links post-synchros
It's definitely that honestly. I can't think of any other reason they'd force people to play by the current rules.
To be frank I never really played Yu-Gi-Oh back when it was still in the original format, if you just didn't use the Synchro cards would that be the same as original format or no?
>Duel Links proved people prefer the pre synchro game.
Are you stupid? Duel Links just proved people want Yugioh games.
Pretty much
>but Duel Links proved people prefer the pre synchro game.
That's what they think they want, but in actuality, they have no clue what pre-Synchro was actually like.
>they'd force people to play by the current rules
It's the same shit if you ignore Links. Synchro and XYZ used ther regular rules.
Turn 1-meta
Going first: make unbreakable thunder sragon board and hope opponent didn't open ash blossom
Going second: better open ash blossom or stare down a colossus or get extra-linked by gouki
Looks great, but I already spend enough time on actual YGO to also waste my vydea time on it.
What decks are you guys running? Pendulum Magician feat. Guardragons here.
>tfw Cyberdragon OTK
And retards complain about Synchros Pendulum
Well Link Monsters actually change the fucking board though. Maybe I'm missing something but couldn't you just summon fusion monsters in the regular spaces before, and now you can't? If you're playing a YGO vidya you can't just ignore that, it'll force you to only go by link rules.
Ancient gears legit killed the game for me
2
T W O
K O G tournies in of 50% Ancient gears
And all because of a shit fucking field spell
Six sams were just the fuck you on top because Six Sams were always fucked
Honestly Yugioh is the most fun as a single player game against A.i.
Add in some story elements and let me play in Battle city and it's done
pendulums are the only mechanic that is completely flawed down to the mere idea of it
>ok so we have these monsters that are also spells
>but they have these numbers on them
>these let you dump your monster filled hand onto the field while also being continuous spells
>oh and if they die they just go to extra deck
>also you can summon them back from there by doing the same thing lol
>oh and because we say so if they die as spells they get there monster effects
the only reason people don't complain about pendulums as much is because the mechanic mostly secludes itself from everything else and often isn't very generic, but mechanically they're the most retarded thing konami have have implemented, even if they're far from the stupidest things konami have ever done
Proof?
>looking forward to a repackaged LotD
Why?
Links are also fucked because they even follow the rules of other monsters and some effects don't even work on them
Ojama country literally can't effect links
Raiza best monarch, fight me faggots
not to mention they themselves can just cockblock you from getting any summons from the extra deck if they manage to make a U with their digital robots and whatnot
a lot of problems with links could've been avoided if extra linking wasn't a thing, they weren't all so fucking generic and they were more generous with slapping hard once per turn effects on them.
caius is better
>here's my worthless, incorrect opinion. now give me attention
Raiza is cool, but I always preferred the best monarch of all time.
They don't effect normal special summons only Extra deck special summons, Links made Rituals stronger because they aren't limited in slots.
Caius is easily number 2, but imo, spinning>removal. More disruptive and they basically lose a draw
How do you get to the japanese shop?
See
Register a japanese my nintendo account, link it to a secondary profile on your switch, access store page via that account. Only issue is that theres no paypal support (least as much as I've tried) so its eshop cards or bust.
>proved that people prefer the pre synchro era
Bruh the most played archetype currently is six samurai, a synchro archetype
5pbp
It's pretty obvious.
I think it's going to be exclusive for a small time than released to other systems. Only people touting exclusivity are games urinalists.
Did they dump that faggot pendulum summoning shit?
No they added onto the game. MR4 makes them not as useful though.
They fucking murdered it so hard that Pendulums now only really work in their own deck, especially with MR4.
He's in right?
probably.
There are no danger!cards in the game afaik
Who the fuck is that guy to the right of Yugi? His hair is awful even by Yu-gi-oh standards.
This one was actually decent. Reshef of Destruction, however, was complete garbage and unbalanced as fuck.
Yusaku Fujiki as his avatar Playmaker. He's the protagonist of the current yugioh series.
Vrains protagonist, I think he's called Playmaker?
Anybody know what packs it goes up to?
I know it was listed somewhere but I can't find it anymore, pretty sure it's stuff up until the end of 2018.
That's not true. None of you know what the fuck you're talking about. Links did gimp single summoning focused decks but Link decks in general flood just as good as ever. Rituals are still weak shit.
It goes up to the Deck Build Pack that had Prankids in it, I dont remember the other 2 archetypes cause they were the only one that was playable.
How does it gimp special summons when only the extra deck is effected by Links?
I know it's stupid but I still want a Yu-Gi-Oh game with every card. I want to recreate my deck ingame but none of the games ever carry the cards I use
>tfw actually having fun playing Mermail Mako even though I have Ancient Gears and Koaki Meiru
It doesnt gimp special summons from the main deck hand or grave just the extra. What I meant is if you wanted all black cards in your extra you would be gimped without Links. There are many viable flooding strategies for each color of extra deck summon as long as you play Link monsters along side them. Eg. Azathot control variants, stops the opponent from using monster effects for a turn (xyz) The double Thundra opening, 2 3k attack monsters that lock the opponent from searching (fusion)
>Gouki , they havent been relevant in months
The meta is pretty good right now. It's a control format, which basically means setting up a turn one board with a lot of interactions. Not necessarily negating stuff or stun shit, but cards that strategically hit your opponents cards with removal and shit.
The big threee right now are Salamangreats, Sky Striker, and T-Drags. Salamangreats are super budget, though and just getting 3 structure decks and like $20 worth of cards make it really competitive. Outside of that, there's a ton of competitively viable decks floating around. Dragons, Guru control, Paleos, and Pendulums are all super solid.
The new game has more than 9000 cards and according to YGOPRO there are 9863 cards, which is also including cards that aren't even released yet in the OCG. What cards were you exactly missing?
Hidden Summoners apparently.
Ok yeah that's true, you can't flood with anything other than Links really effectively as far as I'm aware, though I wouldn't say rituals are weak after impcantations.
Thank you, hope Jet Ogre made it in so I can run my current Gouki deck.
yeah, no voice acting, lazy music and only basic stages. willing to bet the new version doesn't fix any of that shit.
They're weak because most rituals dont do anything that can beat the extra deck. The only semi viable ritual deck at the moment is Impcantation Nekroz but in comparison to the other control decks this format it doesnt really do much. They just open a floodgate monster or two and MAYBE have a gungnir to interrupt the opponent. Their gameplan falls immidiately going second, and does nothing to Guru control which is actually probably more consistent but less fun
Can I buy it with my Japanese account and play it with my US account? or do I have to play it with the Japanese account? if so do I need to buy online twice? or does online work regardless?
wasn't Gishki a good ritual deck?
I've been doing just fine with the new Demise stuff.
You buy it with the Japanese account and play it with the english account. You only need one online subscription. At least that how it worked for me with Cross Tag battle, I bought the Japanese release to play a couple weeks early. I even bought DLC with my english account. Honestly no idea what's wrong with nintendo
3000 + taxes?
It was a long ass time ago, this game powercreeps like mad.
I forgot that stuff even came out, I never see it competitively. I'm sure it's good online or at locals. I'm not saying rituals are terrible, just not really strong in the current meta, and I wouldnt go anywhere close to saying MR4 made them better.
Thanks!
Nintendo doesn't care which account plays a game after being purchased same as online. You want to play online you simply need an account that has online. You can grab the Famicom exclusive games and play them with a US account if you wanted to.
Yeah I guess, and it really just made Demise OTK slightly more consistant.
Is it even possible to beat that game? It's in the same realm of unnecessary difficulty as Forbidden Memories
Yeah still cheaper than 30 bucks. You'll probably want to put 50 bucks down if you go the play asia route because their 3000 and 1000 together is more expensive than just buying 5000 up front. Game is about 3200ish tax is included.
thanks

Should I watch the series if I can just play through it?
I've been watching the series with my fiance and we laugh our ass off at kaiba's autistic hyjinx.
It's a short summary of events not an adaption really.
What?
