Breath of the Wild isn't really important to this generation critically, it has less GotY Awards than GoW, and The Witcher 3, the higher point mark isn't really relevant either, had it gone up against these games it would have lost, hands down.

That's a pretty irrelevant metric though, since there are far more of these lists than there were when RE4 released, Breath of the Wild has already been cut down critically and at this point it's closer to Bioshock Infinite, rather than The Last of Us, it won't last, it will be forgotten in time, and even overshadowed by other games.

I don't see your problem, the game is looking to be the apex of this generation, just look at the animation tech they are pushing with the game, and it's narrative depth which we have only been able to scratch the surface of. It's the direct sequel to one of the more prominent pantheonic games. The Last of US as far as single player centric games go is the game with the biggest impact on games for this generations, you can just look at the amount of games it helped mould, just look at God of War, at one point an action game, now a cinematic narrative driven action game with a tighter camera, it's impact is self evident and long reaching, and commercially these games have had significant impact, The Last of Us sold 17 million units and God of War is the best selling the series has ever had, and by a wide margin, this shows that not only are gaming literati very much interested in these sorts of games, but so are consumers.

It inspired a whole line of copy cats, but also shaped them too, look at Ghosts of Tsushima, or Horizon Zero Dawn, all games that follow a similar story driven formula although slaves to the genre's they exist within they still follow beats driven by The Last of Us, which a lot of people maybe aren't aware of how well it sold, it sold 17 million units, few games sell that much, few even make it into that bracket, most games that get constant threads here sell nothing compared to this.

There's some neat stuff you can learn with Mai and also using Tsukiyo's smoke bombs and throwing knives to stun enemies to line up shots of multiple targets. Aki can also chain her rocket launcher to nuke an enemy and send them flying up with each shot.
Don't let the boobs fool you. The game has a lot of depth.
