>At his Sakuracon panel Ryukishi hinted that Ciconia will be taking a different turn in style from his previous works. While Higurashi and Umineko both focused on having players try to solve the mystery of the story themselves, Ciconia will have a much stronger focus on action with mystery elements scattered throughout. Ryukishi07 even issued a challenge to fans: “In this next game, I won’t give you the privilege of being a player!”
>In this next game, I won't give you the privilege of being a player!
Wew it's as if Higurashi and Umineko weren't games in the first place. What a big surprise
Jason Brown
Yeah I liked the Higurashi and Umineko fighting games that came out
Aiden Torres
Why do you act as if you're not getting what OP is implying? Kikonia won't be as great as the previous WTC if he removes the mystery part which made them great in the first place. Why are some posters here unable to grasp concepts this simple?
Aiden Reed
>if he removes the mystery part which made them great in the first place And why are you acting as if you weren't one of the retards who needed the spoonfeeding in Higurashi and trashed Ryukishi when he didn't comply the requests coming from your pea sized brain when you asked for a clear answer in Umineko-Chiru? Your kind acting all high and mighty not too long after our confession got translated in English will never be forgotten. You've never liked the mysteries or attempted to solve them in the first place, don't lie.
Jace Long
Do you think the sexy girls is what made Higurashi and Umineko so enjoyable?
Is Umineko even worth trying? I constantly hear about it so people must like it but I've also heard that the ending is universally despised. Is it worth playing for the opening parts or is it just not worth it in the end?
Levi Diaz
only brainlets who can't read through the dozens of hints given in episode 2, 4, 6, and 7 hate the ending.
It's also one of three good VN's I've read (I've read dozens) but it's incredibly long and demands a lot out of the reader.
>the ending is universally despised. The ending is fucking amazing nobody hates the ending.
James Carter
The ending is despised by retards who wanted every answer answered, despite the game giving you numerous hints to the true answers. The game was never meant to answer all the questions, but it gave you all of the hints to solve it.
IT's a really good VN and I honestly loved the ending, the whole game was an emotional rollercoaster with twists and turns to accompany it.
It's overall just a great package...that's improved if you add the PS3 Patches. It makes the game even better. Especially the voice acting and CG's, delicious.
Ethan Phillips
You weren't there before our confession was a thing
Summon who? What did I do? Don't scare me man, that's ominous as fuck. I haven't been in many Umineko threads and now I'm worried I did a big fuck up, did I invite the fucking Erika of Yea Forums by accident?
Andrew Young
The ending isn't bad, but episode 8 (the final episode) has some pacing issues. It's the longest episode (I'm pretty sure anyway, it at least feels like it) and while certain parts are good others drag on. The main "ending" is more about the solution to the mystery and wrapping up the characters stories and that's all done perfectly
James Ortiz

Brody Walker
Can people just stop recommending which sprites to use? Just say they're both equal. I mean the fact that people can argue endlessly over it is proof that people enjoy both so just use whatever. There's no need to argue over it
Oh. So this is what you meant. Oh. I am so sorry. I did not know these people actually existed, whoops.
The best bit is I never said anything about using the PS3 Sprites, I mainly praised the voice acting and CG's. And the Updated Backgrounds are nice. But I guess they just don't know how to read.
But clearly, I have made a mistake, and brought people here who shall not be named. Whoops.
Adrian Bennett
Welp, I fucked up. I should not of mentioned the PS3 patch at all, apparently. Even if it does give us the glorious Beatrice voice.
Jace Hall
Why does Umineko bring out all the trannies? Oh wait, I know exactly the reason why
Luis Howard
Anyone have other mystery games ruined by Umineko? Like I played VLR after and the entire time I was just thinking how worse written some things were like characters just up and believing their kidnapper which would just fly in the face of everything Umineko would drive home about.
Nathaniel Price
umineko ruined most stories in general for me
Cameron Morgan
Ah yes, because as we all know, the best part of the author's writing was his cringy action scenes.
What the fuck is he thinking?
Jaxson Nelson
>It's overall just a great package...that's improved if you add the PS3 Patches. It makes the game even better. Especially the voice acting and CG's, delicious.
ESL here sorry if my post will come off as strange
For a re-read it's actually the most optimal way to re-experience Umineko in my opinion, as parts of the voice acting (especially the tone) can be HUGE hints/spoilers in themselves. The final battle in EP4's tea party is one of the rare cases where the voice acting was absolutely SPOT-ON on almost every line and conveyed exactly what was meant to be conveyed and the subtleties you are meant to notice during a second read-through. It's unironically the most kino piece of media I've ever stumbled across in my short life, based on the number of things cleverly layered including the depiction of the tragic nature of the relationship between two lovers, and characterization elements that are portrayed in a very subtle manner during a merciless logic battle. youtube.com/watch?v=boIFcAK6Krw Despite how the highly detailed sprites and especially the backgrounds may kill the ominous atmosphere which is somewhat important for a first playthrough. It's why I insist for anyone who would want to start reading Umineko for the first time, to do it with the original assets then with the upgraded versions when you re-read it. In this way you aren't missing out and can appreciate the best of both worlds for this novel which truly deserves it.
OP's pic is often regarded as a comical moment which is undeniably true but it's also very sad especially coming from Beatrice's mouth. It's fucking kino
I know. For example in VLR they find a dead person and everyone begins suspecting each other. Someone then suggests they are all innocent and maybe another person is there with them. To which they just go no no the Saw villain video our kidnapper made said we were alone. And then they just move on. Made me upset at the characters for being retards believing and accepting that at face value.
Anthony Cooper
Shitposting aside I really doubt he can surpass Umineko. It's all downhill from there.
Also most people preferred the mystery scenes in Umineko to the magic fights so I don't know how well this will do.
Liam Peterson
I thought the action scenes were fun, but only because they were contrasted by the mystery and character development. If umineko was all action it wouldn't have been good
I don't know. I never was able to understand how could people enjoy visual novels such as Fate or even action novels in general, outside of manga I mean. How don't you get bored of it? Those only work in anime
I've only liked mystery and romance visual novels anyways so my opinion is of course very biased
Logan Phillips
I liked them for shit like, well you maybe be an all powerful witch but I have something stronger than any magic... a fucking gun.
Isaac Gonzalez
Alternative is the only "action" VN I've liked, but it was always window-dressing at best and the character drama is what drove it forward. If you want to make an action-based story visual novels are probably the second worst medium you could choose after regular novels. My guess is he's banking on the anime adaptation saving it.
umineko was already downhill from higurashi you tranny lover. ryukishi lost his mind after his BFF died and the brainlet audience forced him to rewrite chapter 3, which is why chiru is such a mess
Brody Hernandez
Don't laugh at me but I was "transphobic" (=normal person) before reading Umineko and now I just want them to all die so they can avoid suffering like Yasu did. I still want them dead but for their own good now since I understand what sort of mental pain they must be under every day, constantly.
Grayson Hernandez
If I enjoyed ace attorney will I like this? Also which version and emulator do I use?
What a coincidence, this game is hot garbage too. Weebs only like it because it was baby's first VN
William Clark
>If I enjoyed ace attorney will I like this? Yes you will.
Jonathan Wood
t.KnowNoMore Does anyone know why he removed his Rosatrice stuff along with his other videos? I found them interesting even if I'm not an atheist. I find it cute that somehow someone like him put his heart to try disproving the official explanation
Jacob Campbell
No. There is no puzzles or mini games. Its just reading sentences.
Brayden Ross
Yasu had irreversible damage to the genitals + other trauma, so it's not really the same thing.
Lucas Sanders
>t.KnowNoMore Who the fuck is that?
Jonathan Richardson
You will like it, absolutely. But be wary as there won't be any gameplay elements. This detail put me off at first but your desire to know more will trample over that little issue.
the ps3 version graphics are terrible just for all the new CG's that are just LE EBIN PSYCHO MONSTER FACE
completely throws off the actual atmosphere for some cheap jump scare bullshit
Elijah Mitchell
Re-written ep 3 is great though. It only went downhill in ep 4 with all the focus on Ange as the author's waifu.
Dylan Bennett
The guy behind the 12 hours explanation for the Rosatrice theory. I watched the whole thing and even believed it at one point, since he had really valid arguments. I believe someone saved them and re-uploaded them on YouTube, big kudos to him
This is not a game with choices like AA is, this is a pure VN. Basically the original point of the series was for the readers to speculate and theorize based on the new info given in each episode during the half a year wait time between episodes, but now that all the eps are out who fucking does that The logic battles when they happen do hit that AA itch but keep in mind they basically only really happen in the middle of the series, the early parts are a long ass intro to the rules and the later parts taper down on the mystery aspects real hard, without spoiling too much. It's not as close to AA I feel like as say Danganronpa or even Zero Escape, but it's aight I guess. t. Someone who got into Umineko because I ran out of that category of portable mystery adventure games
press the auto button and then watch as the mystery unfolds for around 200 hours
Parker Hughes
Yasu wasn't trans, he was mulated. Comparing Yasu to your average trans is almost insulting. Yasu was incestuous child that had actual issues. Not even remotely comperable
Wyatt King
Sadly, yes. You will be literally reading. I know it will be strange to get used to as first especially if you come from other series such as Ace Attorney, Zero Escape, Danganronpa, Kyle Hyde, Layton or even Ghost Trick. But trust me it's worth the read.
There are also two sections at the last episode with player interaction sections but it's not very much.
Yasu was like that from the start. I seriously doubt that is the same situation.
Christian Kelly
>tranny lover Opinion discarded
Leo White
I feel like that's most people who got into it because "it was like AA". I've come to learn that it really doesn't hit that same mystery adventure spot the same way other than some moments like Chapter 3 or 7, but it was a one of a kind experience anyway. Music was great but kind of overrated, though I still chuckle at how the guy who wrote Dread of the Dead just fucked off from making music forever and never released a good quality version of that song.
Jose Moore
>want to replay umineko >Remember the 2 hour opening boat ride
Maybe I'll get to it someday
Ryder Powell
>universally despised It was only hated by people that didn't get that the answers were already right in front of them. It didn't have to be an ending dedicated to telling you how every little thing worked, it was instead an ending for the characters themselves, and it still worked well because of it. I wouldn't put Episode 8 as one of my top parts, but it still had plenty of fantastic moments.
actually I hated it because the story completely fails to give any kind of real resolution to any of the metaworld character arcs that it had spent thousands of words on because instead bern just decides to go home after battler goes super saiyan (when he already showed he had ultimate power back in chapter 5 before fumbling it)
it's true that the mystery was given away in chapter 2 because ryukishi went with the most hack solution possible (and one that makes it so every single red truth is broken by just saying "they were using a different name at the time"), it's too bad that the mystery is only a small part of the overal time spent on umineko and he completely just gave up on actually concluding anything because he'd rather have extended rants about his own fanbase
Matthew Barnes
how accurate is this?
Jason Jackson
Originally ep 3 was "Land of the Golden Witch", which was more like ep 2 except even harder and more cryptic. Ryukishi rewrote it into Banquet, which explains how magic works and is more reader friendly. People theorize that ep 3 was originally the point at which Erika would have been introduced, which would have been a bit overwhelming, to say the least.
Ian Hill
What pissed me off about Umineko is how the entire story turned out to be about how awesome and amazing lies are and the truth is totally lame, you guys. It leaves a real bad taste in your mouth.
The best UX comes from that one guy porting the PS3 version to PC feature by feature, but his translation fucks up Battler's catchphrase so it should be immediately discarded. The original with whatever mods you want is still the best option for playing. I forget if the steam version is the same as that.
Josiah Walker
>fails to give any kind of real resolution to any of the metaworld character arcs that it had spent thousands of words on who
James Edwards
Even more frustrating is how you have to assume the members of the cast which aren't "in" on the conspiracy to be a bunch of retards who fall for a paper thin disguise.
>name of the new MC isn't an anagram of Furude Rika

I am impressed with the consistency you manage to post in these threads, even when they happen on other boards. However Gohda is the only character innocent of all blame, so kindly do not slander his good name any further.
Yeah, he didn't kill anyone nor do anything sinful like the rest of the cast. He was just kinda of a dick personality wise.
Xavier Watson
>muh ikuko is yasu It's not "the real mystery", it's the stupidest shit that actually makes the game retroactively worse. I hope Ep. 9 will disprove it.
Thomas Young
I've never read Umineko or Higurashi (watched the anime back in the day).
I will never forgive him for Lucia's route. Forever mad.
How is it allowed for a third-person narrator to blatantly lie in a mystery story?
The ending itself isn't bad its just the last episode drags super hard in a bunch of places and makes it feel like a slog to get through
Henry Jenkins
>Started reading yesterday >OG experience now >Maria went from extremely annoying to extremely based and entertaining >Natsuhi is a cool aunt with a gun and she doesn't afraid of anything >Story became genuinely thrilling >Read some spoilers but they all looked like absolute nonsense and seemed fake anyways I wish I could just neet it out and consume this story because I've been having great fun with it this weekend and I don't want to stumble upon a spoiler that is actually believeable. Fucking boat and intro made me almost drop it
I feel like I've missed out on some fun threads for not starting this earlier
>Ciconia will have a much stronger focus on action YIKES!
Jeremiah Wright
For Higurashi, is the voice mod on github for the whole thing or just one chapter? Also the link it has for how to install gives a 406 error. Is there another guide?
Cameron Wright
>I hope Ep. 9 will disprove it. So far it sounds like ep 9 will be a VN adaptation of the manga's "My Confession", which explains Yasu's whole thing from her perspective. Pretty lame.
Kyrie did nothing wrong >the way she can willingly change her values and world view BASED
Alexander Lewis
>How is it allowed for a third-person narrator to blatantly lie in a mystery story? It technically breaks the rules, but if done well that shouldn't matter.
Brayden Ross
I think the exact moment I knew I was gonna have a wild time with Umineko is when it turned out Maria was an expert on Hebrew blood symbols
Landon Lopez
>grrrr replacing shitty crayon art is bad Don't hurt your head over it too much, user
Ryder Foster
>>Maria went from extremely annoying to extremely based and entertaining Holy shit I hate Maria so much, I didn't need the same fucking scene in every episode that lasts for hours. Shut the fuck up. I literally skipped all of her scenes in Episode 4, I couldn't take it anymore.
It's kind of impressive how 7 year old Japanese girl thought herself hebrew and memorized the bible old testament and all
Noah Martin
The first time it gets interesting is when the parents discuss money-politics, and then when Maria reads the letter at dinner. They really should have abridged everything before that. Ryukishi needs an editor.
Jason Wood
>Entire plan relies on the births being perfectly synchronized It's not possible to pull this off without magic. Rudolfatrice confirmed.
>OG experience BASED NOW LEAVE LEAVE LEAVE LEAVE You will definitely fall in love with the novel at THAT part, others will undoubtedly confirm youtube.com/watch?v=Zs4wKRHmiR8
Legend's last part was so fucking PERFECT, the whole scene in the study felt surreal
Brayden Brown
uuu uuu
Levi Richardson
Idiot. The whole point of the red truth (and truth in general) was you could claim anything was the truth if you believed in it's truthfulness 100%. There were no lies at all. It was a message for people who only wanted to expose the bad parts and so they have their own twisted truths that got them what they deserved with the Trick ending. I really hate Confession but you people really make me not mind it at all.
Zachary Hall
Shut up, bitch
Ryder Lopez
It wasn't done well at all. I am still seething over this garbage.
William Rodriguez
You just... put the coins in the cups? Am I retarded?
Episode 4 is the one I'm most mixed on cause all the Maria stuff is probably the most emotional I ever got reading the VN but the Ange stuff was kinda boring and a bit of a slog to get through
Jayden Jenkins
Now do it with 5
Jaxon Ortiz
The simpliest solution is usually the right one
Juan Cruz
People think Ikuko isn't Yasu? I always thought it was obvious.
After ep 7 spends so much time making it clear that there is another mansion that the original beatrice lived on before Kuwadorian existed and that Yasu had spent a bunch of time already turning the gold into cash?
Or do you really believe that Battler happened to land in a platonic relationship for years (specifically platonic because of yasu's damaged genitals) with someone that also happens to be REALLY interested in mystery novels, eccentric, rich, and alone, with a name that is a play on the number 19, who instead of taking him to a hospital, deliberately gives them shelter and a new identity?
Jaxon Cruz
Use Gaap's holes so that one coin is in 2 cups simultaneously.
James Ross
>yfw CH9 takes place in the distant future, on the moon hotel
It retroactively makes the entire story worse. It shouldn't ever happen.
Landon Reed
Keep dying horribly over and over for 100 years until we find a fragment where a 6th coin exists.
Henry Sullivan
>another mansion that the original beatrice lived on before Kuwadorian existed The secret mansion where Beatrice2 lived? It's still on Rokkenjima, and Ikuko certainly doesn't live there.
Ian Nguyen
how?
Blake Cox
>platonic relationship for years (specifically platonic because of yasu's damaged genitals) actually ryukishi planned them to be married but his female assistants protested
Thats fair, my main issue is I never ended up really liking Ange as a character so I wasn't exactly super invested in her story other than the parts that also involved Maria. This is also why Episode 8 is my second least favorite.
Henry Green
>causes everyone's deaths then gets off scot-free >wow yasu is so smart and epic
No, iirc, nanjo hints that there was another mansion on a different island that nazitrice lived on before the kuwadorian was built in episode 7. Not the Kuwadorian. Yasu/ikuko likely knew about this and chose to live there.
Jackson Flores
Man, it's funny how a lot of things in the question arcs get slapped by Knox's 10.
Liam Ross
>I refuse to explain! This man would be great friends with Phoenix Wright.
Ryder Watson
>Ciconia's WW3 started because of the moon land dispute after last Ushiromiya died (Ange and Tohya)
This is legitmately one of my favorite endings ever, and the memes just make it even better.
Gavin Perez
>Ryukishi is a hack anyone that didn't realize this by the moment he ruined rewrite deserves to be scammed fucker's only alive nowadays because dumb eops keep giving him money
People who defend the second half of umineko are shit eaters, plain and simple. What made the first half of uminekos narrative so compelling is that everything is clearly a sort of purgatory where battler has to come to terms with what his parents did. The witch represents his denial and inability to accept the truth. This was an extremely interesting story and a very relatable one. The second half of umineko is about battler accepting the witch - accepting that he should deny reality and not accept the truth. It is completely nonsensical. It breaks the entire narrative and isn't relatable or interesting. It also renders the entire story completely pointless. After all of this struggle he ends up right back where he started, denying reality.
Charles Price
Nips are not chinks, though.
Jackson Garcia
There were no chinamen in the story. MEANWHILE: Van Dine's 11th is highly debatable.

Except the culprit isn't a servant, just disguised as one at that point
Leo Stewart
>literally planned to shoot up everyone >couldn't do it only because relatives solved the epitaph >knows that everyone is desperate for money >gives them shitton of gold, guns, and a way to dispose of the evidence >literally caused all of Battler's and Ange's suffering >in the end is the only one living happily with her mindbroken bf You do understand how ridiculous does this sound, right? And if she planned to kill everyone because they harassed her, why couldn't she just fuck off without waiting for Battler? Not to mention that apparently Kanon was never scolded by Natsuhi, meaning that she fucked up as Shannon intentionally just to get Natsuhi to scold her.
What do you mean the culprit was a servant or a disguised one I thought that by the end of EP8 it was made clear that a witch did it? Or did I interpret things wrong.
Hunter Nguyen
That rule isn't meant to mean chinese people or asians shouldn't be in a story. Back when those rules were written up, there was a big trope about a mysterious foreigner showing up and being a criminal mastermind/very obviously the villain, which was caused by people trying to ape Rohmer's character Dr. Fu Manchu. It basically means avoid writing an incredibly obvious villain.
Accurate but what it leaves out is how mind-numbingly boring most of it is
Ryan Cooper
>And if she planned to kill everyone because they harassed her, why couldn't she just fuck off without waiting for Battler? retard
Christian Lopez
I truly believe 100% that ryukishis friend was ghost writing the story, which is why it declined so heavily after he died. As such I have no faith in ryukishi to write a good story without his friend.
Gavin Martin
Was Kinzo /ourguy/?
Carter Thomas
This but unironically The only reason the plot changed so dramatically was due to Ryukishis depression over BTs death.
Gohda's a good boy, he dindu nuffin. He went to a church each Sunday.
Angel Adams
BRAINLET, literally a brainlet. How come after all these years people like you can still exist in the fanbase when our confession exists for goddamn sake I bet you disliked V3's ending
Mere word play, a servant is one who serves, and performs the duties thereof. Whether or not they actually held another title is irrelevant.
>Dine's 3rd. Not only is there multiple love interests, love itself is a central theme. >Dine's 7th. Show me the corpses of the ushiromiyas. >Dine's 9th The existence of Erika adds an additional detective into the story. >Dine's 16th Self explanatory.
The amount of mental gymnastics that went into this one. Umineko has always been about the story Beatrice wanted to tell from the get-go. If anything, Battler's denial of witches pretty much made it possible for him to have the cat and mouse with Beato and Beato knew he had to fight this somehow which explains her extreme actions in the first four eps.
>9th No, the definition of detective is someone who ascertains the truth. In the stories she was in, Erika WAS the only one to ascertain anything (in her own beheading way). All in all, it doesn't matter since Van Dine's pretty much gets bashed even by the guy who was supposed to represent Van Dine himself, Will.
Evan Long
Stack the first cup in the third. Checkmate.
Nolan Sanders
post yfw you realize the logic error was on purpose and Battler has the best keikaku in any fictional media.
>You do understand how ridiculous does this sound, right? Why does it sound unreasonable? It's likely battler figured things out as he started to get his memories back because he's the one that fell off the boat not Yasu, that's why in every story there's the hint of him being terrified of boats but forgave her because his entire family literally ruined Yasu's life. Battler was always shown being incredibly compassionate, to the point of ridiculousness, in every story. You think he wouldn't forgive Yasu when his own parents, who he pretty much hated, were the culprits, and he began to realize how almost every close family member (except arguably jessica, Gohda, and Hideyoshi) screwed her over in some way. >And if she planned to kill everyone because they harassed her, why couldn't she just fuck off without waiting for Battler? Because she was emotional and couldn't make a choice? Did you even read part 6? or did you not catch the whole duel analogy? >Not to mention that apparently Kanon was never scolded by Natsuhi, meaning that she fucked up as Shannon intentionally just to get Natsuhi to scold her. Point Being?
Angel Young
I don't understand how someone so retarded can simultaneously be a genius.
nice bait retard. And if you aren't, Umineko shows how relationships can be broken beyond repair and that sometimes escapism is the only solution. Said escapism which is in fact criticized in Higanbana
Ryukishi loves to address themes from his previous works
Samuel Gomez
His friend died so he wanted to retreat into fiction to make himself feel better.
Luis Cruz
I really like Umineko for the most part and I think V3's ending is shit, what are you going to do about it bitch boy
Higurashi: BT is alive Umineko: BT is dead It makes perfect sense why one is about believing in your friends and the other is about denying reality when reality sucks.
Camden Walker
Beatrice was not supposed to be a character at all. She like the other meta characters was originally a plot device. She represented the side of battler which wanted to avoid the reality his parents slaughtered his family. Only later in the story starting in episode 3 did ryukishi start to make her into a real character.
He's referring to pieces and players, you won't be challenging the scenario you'll be forced into it.
Grayson Cox
It feels so weird seeing normies discover Umineko in 2019.
Juan Parker
He never was retarded or incompetent, reminder that the first two episodes are Yasu's delusions.
Connor Hill
>She represented the side of battler which wanted to avoid the reality his parents slaughtered his family. Only later in the story starting in episode 3 did ryukishi start to make her into a real character. Fucking hell I hope you are baiting
>Said escapism which is in fact criticized in Higanbana How so? Didn't read it yet
Ethan Moore
Some guy in middle school introduced me to Higurashi and this eemen demon drew me in, but plot and characters pretty much solidified both the VN and anime as my favorite.
I discovered it through power level debates and youtube Lets plays
Andrew Ross
>it's okay that you killed my entire family because they bullied you at some point Wow. Also, Krauss had never hurt Yasu. >Because she was emotional and couldn't make a choice? Did you even read part 6? or did you not catch the whole duel analogy? So she decided to kill everyone, because that makes more sense? >Point Being? Persecution complex.
Jaxon Myers
Nah, that's George
Luke Gonzalez
>Because she was emotional and couldn't make a choice? I guess it makes sense, because now both Jessica and George are dead, so she doesn't have to choose. Based Yasu, fuck Ushiromiyas.
The only good LP of it I've seen is Jokrono. The rest suck.
Adam Torres
Higanbana criticizes escapism and pointless daydreaming, showing what happens once you return to the real world after neglecting your real life for years. It also portrays dead people as being inferior to the living, powerless beings incapable of doing anything to improve their situation, a clear response to how Umineko romanticized Sayo's suicide and the afterlife of the Ushiromiyas.
I feel like yasu was the biggest issue with umineko. She was built up to be the second most important character but she didn't actually kill anyone and her character was really unrelatable given how batshit insane she was. I think the story would have been much better if she had a smaller role.
Isaiah Sullivan
>romanticized Sayo's suicide Heh, another goat that doesn't realize the REAL answer.
>it's okay that you killed my entire family because they bullied you at some point >Wow. Also, Krauss had never hurt Yasu. Krauss being a retard made him need more money than anyone else by a large margin, so he wasn't willing to share the gold. Again, prove she killed them. >So she decided to kill everyone, because that makes more sense? She only wrote about it, and may have been dead set on doing it, but she didn't follow through. Or do you believe in thought crime? >Persecution complex. Or she was making sure that her other identity would fly under the radar?
Does it get better in part 2? The first one was more like a nukige than a mystery.
Bentley White
I mean Episode 8 manga had Beato outright say that Golden Land is the land of death while being surrounded with skulls and it also criticized careless escapism in Ep 4
Blake Wilson
This is the greatest realization one can have about the many mysteries of Umineko.
Calling it incitement is a stretch, she only showed the tools she was going to use. Also, it doesn't matter regardless if battler didn't see it as a crime, which he didn't.
Robert Thompson
Id also like to add that Ep 4 shows both negative escapism which makes you neglect your real life situation and positive escapism which supplements your real life and helps you cope and function better
FUCKING HELL I NEVER REALIZED you unironically just blew my mind Where I pretty much figured the who and the why without any help I didn't pay attention to this detail hahahahaha and it was said in the same episode on top of that good job user
I just feel like there were so many amazing characters in umineko yet the batshit crazy tranny got all the focus. Not only is yasu crazy but she's honestly a piece of shit. Let's recap what happened with her. She started off liking battler because She was lonely and he gave her attention. Battler forgets about her because it was a small crush and he had stuff happening in his life. Realizing that shit has sailed yasu desides to get some attention somewhere else. She starts pretending to be a guy so she can take advantage of Jessica who is going through puberty and desperately wants to start dating. That works for a while but then George being a beta male starts hitting on her (the subservient maid). Despite already going out with Jessica she starts dating George and agrees to marry him. She has also agreed to marry a man without telling him she's a tranny and can't have sex properly or give birth. She is also cheating on both Jessica and George. Well now battler came back and she likes him better so she decides to ditch them both and go for him.
Everything so far is fact, this next part is just my speculation. So now she is in quite a jam. She has agreed to marry a man and is dating a girl but she wants to date this other man instead. Conveniently she decides now is a good time to set up a murder game where everyone but battler is likely to die. My theory is that she is basically trying to kill off George and Jessica so she can run off with battler and the money. She hopes that by solving her mystery battler will come to forgive her for murdering his family and accept her as the busted up tranny she is.
Yasu goes beyond merely being crazy, she is a sociopath. At no point does she ever consider anyone else's needs.
Inb4 you're just a goat
Owen Gutierrez
Yeah, it is garbage. The people that like it are often newfags that came to the medium 3 years ago and that have read under 10 VNs. If you check the votes in vndb the fags that value umineko highly have unvariably terrible taste
>At no point does she ever consider anyone else's needs. >I forgot all about episode 4 or Mariage Sorciere : the post
Other than that you've been mostly right, you kinda forgot the whole mental traumas behind her actions etc but this is spot-on. The truth of Umineko is really ugly and Beatrice is a real piece of shit, or an idiot according to Battler's words in Episode 5.
Zachary Lewis
>and that have read under 10 VNs. As if there was anything worth in that media available in English in the first place. All the good stuff is either untranslated or so niche you have no way to know about it
Asher Hall
>under 10 VNs There are less than 10 worth reading. In fact if somebody has read more than 10 you can probably discount his opinion, since he's a likely a degenerate porn addict.

no play something by a team with actual talent and not a hack go download subahibi instead or something

Reminder that Rika and therefore Bern are more incompetent that Battler. Rika knew that the Yamainu existed and stalked her but never once suspected them during her timeloops. Also she could have solved the entire thing in one loop if she just followed Miyo back to the hospital and eavesdrop. The fact that she repeated for so long with so little results is just appalling.
Christian Roberts
>subahibi OH NO NO NO NO NO NO

Why even bother dissecting Yasu's character when Kinzo is the batshit insane one and the one ultimately responsible?
>The people that like it are often newfags that came to the medium 3 years ago and that have read under 10 VNs. Let me tell you something : most if not all of the visual novels released in Japan are garbage. Only the good ones pass the filter/get noticed by westerners and even then they'd need some improvements KEK she was only 10
Robert Hughes
Why do VNs usually have more female characters than male ones?
Ryan Allen

Kinzo is based and canonically got away scot-free and died completely fulfilled

I am unironically one of these people, and in fact have only read Umineko.
Name 11 VNs that you have read, such that we may all have as good taste as you. Otherwise admit that one can enjoy any story in any media for that stories' merit without having to have a bullshit "you must have x history to discuss" limitation.

you're right, it's the unfeeling robot's fault everything turned out the way it did.

I can accept genji being willing to throw his life away solely so that the disfigured illegimate child of kinzo could enact an extremely petty murdur plot on the entire family, but it doesn't make sense that Kumasawa would go along with this clearly batshit plan, especially when actual bodies start showing up. She is a cowardly old granny, not a murder accomplice. It goes against her character, and I won't forgive any story that ignores the heart.
ZTD isn't great, but its still better than this weeb garbage.

Please remember that after finishing Kusarihime, its writer, Hoshizora Meteo, wanted to create a fanbook. In doing so, some other writers were dragged into the project. They were Urobuchi Gen, Tanaka Romeo, and Kinoko Nasu.
All three writers were inspired by Kusarihime. Taking the concept of two people whose love can only be confirmed through each other and insanity, Urobuchi went and made Saya no Uta.
Taking the concept of time loops, insanity, twisted personal relationships, and not giving the readers definitive answers, Tanaka Romeo went and made Cross Channel.
Taking the concept of love, family bonds, and insanity, Kinoko Nasu went and made the Heaven’s Feel route in Fate/stay night.
There are many parallels between Kusarihime and Higurashi too, such as the time loops and how the seemingly traditional mythological power turns out to be related to science fiction instead. And Ryuukishi's next work, Umineko, is very clearly inspired by Meteo's Forest.
For reference: >Kusarihime release 8. Feb 2002
>Higurashi first release (Onikakushi) 10. Aug 2002
>you should be able to solve it with only episode 1 >1-4 make it super easy >jk lemme add a bunch of bullshit to answer arcs that never really existed in 1-4 besides crazy fan theories
Ryukishi should actually read some real mysteries instead of ripping off names and rules. Hell dude doesn’t even follow the rules he rips off.
Gabriel Morgan
Can you use any more buzzwords and say absolutely less?
Thomas Cruz
Please also the what Kinoko Nasu says in a commentary he wrote for Meteo's LN.

Umineko is a shit mystery. Only good part was the action and music. How is ryu doing something with more action a bad thing?
So umineko is all about mental illness, delusions, and trannies being a good thing. No wonder you fags love it.
Charles Butler
I'm so fucking pissed of by this. It was announced around the same time as Fate Zero and it's already been like 7 years since that came out. Fuck ufotable, I hope they rot in jail.
In episode 1 the solution to Eva's and Hideyoshi's murder. The servants lied about it being locked and they just cut the chain and put it there afterwards
Tax evasion shit was never confirmed, the only source is some shady magazine.

There are like 100 reasons I could think for police to raid that isn't tax evasion (which doesn't make the police raid places most of the time), it can be a bomb threat and police checking. You're retarded and the kind of person who believes all he sees in Twitter/Facebook

what's so wrong with tax evasion why can't we just make money without the state stealing it
Umineko's Theme: Obsessing over the worst parts of someone's life is unhealthy. A person shouldn't always be judged from what they could do when pushed to their limit. Pushing the blame onto a single person is wrong when many people contributed to the problem.
The manga is a bit more on-the-nose with these themes, in fairness.
Alexander Bailey
To be fair, it's on TYPE-MOON as much as ufotable. See: Tsukihime remake

Cause there are many things you don't pay for and work based on the population contributing a small percentage of their economy. Would you like to pay 50$ every time you use certain roads and 15$ for entering public parks and places? I'd rather not.
James Ortiz
Moving goalposts. The suspicion exists.
And remember that the only reason you don't trust Bunshun is because you read an anonymous post on Yea Forums.
Andrew Martin
Roads and parks are like 1% of the budget. 90% is the military and keeping 75 year olds alive a few more years. If taxes were mostly going to useful things it'd be a different story.
Landon Thompson
You are the one moving the goalposts, nigger. This was your claim. Your source has nothing to do with it.
Zachary Jones
The first post was about the police raid you stupid mong, you moved the goalpost. I'm not the guy who's replying to you btw, just saw you being a huge fag and wanted to note it so you don't just start ad hominem'ing the other guy endlessly.
Jayden Collins

>Like 1% >90% is made of Stop making up numbers and quote sources if you wanna talk percentages. You'll be surprised how much is spent on roads, public infraestructure, everything that doesn't belong to a private company is paid for by the population, bins, street decorations, holidays, many products are affordable because your government subsidies them, etc. Old you are you? Because of you're over 18 with this mentality I have bad news for you lad.

Except everything is in the game and the story. The game isn't as complicated as you think it is, it's just readers like you can't read inbetween the lines and see foreshadowing.
John Price
I relate to her. (No not in some stupid tranny sense) because I too am batshit.
From the moment I saw the Shannon's leg tattoo and the placement of the one winged eagle in conjunction with Beatrice's eagle on her dress, in addition to the fact only Shannon/or Kanon had any in-depth interaction with her early on other than Battler. My schizoid ass went full on Shakanotrice back when y'all thought the theory was dumb. (Though I knew both servants were samefags) Beyond calling themselves furniture, you don't get many hints as to either being a tulpa/split personality. (Well locked room and Kanon was a big hint)
World building internally, understanding of self, meloncholy, vengefulness, disappointment, sorrow, pain, anger, loneliness..all these are relatable. But I guess one would need to have lived a difficult life to kind of relate enough to Yasu. Learn to lucid dream and be a hermit, then talk only to your subconscious.
Ah yes, the great higurashi and umineko mysteries I was an active player of. Those mind control bees really had a lot of foreshadowing
Jaxson Ross

David Cook
Let's face it. Yea Forums is going to gobble up whatever turd Ryukishi poops out and ask for seconds.
Matthew Scott
It better be episodic, Ryukishi's writing only works if he can fool his audience for several episodes that the payoff is eventually going to be worth it. It never is.
Xavier Campbell
Play 428 Shibuya Scramble and Utawarerumono trilogy
I am using Vietnamese duck hunting enthusiast forum slang. Simply put, you don't understand /x/ shitposting very well Yea Forums.
Nigga I said lucid dreaming not whatever the fuck. If you bother to retain self awareness in the dream state you can tall directly to yourself. What some call the higher self or holy guardian angel. Literally it's based and will hold full fledged quality conversation with you, especially with regards to spiritual development and advice. My observations conclude it can divinate, offer solutions to complex mathematical problems, offer knowledge on healing, tell you more about yourself, give it's own opinions etc. It literally larps as dream people, objects, monsters, and animals until you ask for it to stop doing that and be real with you.
I theorize it attempts to observe and run infinite scenarios with all concepts and things you gain from life experience and from pre-incarnation.
Lucid dreaming I can get but acting like you can somehow "cheat the fucking system" and talk to your own subconscious directly is fucking retarded. This is real life, bro, not some anime.
Brayden King
>Play Utawarerumono & 428
Some legit good taste there, good going.
Jonathan Gray
but Israel destroyed the WTC
Evan Walker
Well I sure as fuck do it, so you can too. It isn't special, it just takes actually having some level of awareness, recognize you are dreaming, then simply ask to talk.
How is that retarded? It's basic. Master lucid dreaming at best or get decent at it, then have an intent to talk to your core self. Do it. Experience it for yourself. I know this is Yea Forums but for fuck sakes don't you actually LIKE or LOVE yourself enough to learn more and explore infinite creative beauty and all sorts of awesome stuff within? Or are you too set on your perception of self and life needing to always be external?
Luke Bailey
I was too brainlet to solve anything in umineko so I dont mind
Aaron Roberts
Try Part 1 and see what you think.
Chase Robinson
I don't think exploring yourself is necessarily about talking to an imaginary version of your subconscious while lucid dreaming, but whatever, you do you.
Nicholas Flores
The intelligent cognizant awareness resides there, observing and playing through imaginary ventures. That is within (You). It is (You). Your subconscious is indeed a part of you. Purposefully interacting with it while keeping awareness and not just going on auto-pilot means you can learn a lot about yourself. By all means it is self exploration.
If you can do that, then you start to understand how a character like Yasu has such a strong perception and acknowledgement of herself. By all means Beatrice, Shannon, Gaap, Kanon, etc are all her. Facets, distinct sharp persons. So vivid and real within they have a life of their own. Her own internal withdrawal and isolation meant she solely had herself to herself. Eventually reaching a point of her asking "Who am I?" And "Who do I want to become?"
Please stop showing plump Umineko thighs to me, I don't need my penis to be that hard. Yes, I know who Yasu is.
Bentley Nguyen

Jackson Turner
Did you not read Umineko EP5 properly? You are very much a player in Umineko, trying to figure out the mystery
What Ryukishi means by you not being the player in Ciconia is that you won't be required to think, you will be fed the answers
Kevin Jackson
What the fuck user. Its a man dressing as a woman, its a fucking tranny.
Nolan Bell
>a man dressing as a woman But that's just a crossdresser.
Justin Hernandez
Yeah sure and traps aren't gay either right? A tranny is a tranny.
Ryan Ramirez
She didn't even know she was a man until they told her, was she supposed to just change over night and start dressing as a man? Also EP7 clearly shows us that if anything she wanted to be a man like she was born as in an ideal world where they didn't cut off her peepee
My man. Maria bits just made me feel like dying. It was sad and made me feel sympathetic towards her at first but jesus christ, as soon as that ended I reverted back to disliking her. Fuck Sakuratou and all he stands for. Skipped most of his scenes/lines all the way to Episode 8.
Ian Mitchell
but he already literally fed you the answers in his past two franchises??
Joshua Roberts
Try telling that to the hordes of people that threw a fit and called Ryukishi a hack when EP8 came out and 'didn't answer anything'
Finished playing this just last week. Since I already knew about "Black Battler" from the fighting game, I was already somewhat spoiled on that final mystery challenge. His existence just never left my mind and I was waiting for him to show up at every episode. So to make up for it, what I did instead was to try and find some logic loop or grammatical gap in which I could find someone else to be the culprit. It might be due to translation but doing so is indeed possible. I presented my theory to a couple friends who played it long ago and they both said it was "valid". Of course, it lacks *The Heart* but it can be done with a couple stretches. Here are the culprit(s): All the cousins plus anyone from the First Twilight.
Samuel Cruz
The culprit is Shanon who is Kanon who is Lion who is Beatrice who is a deranged trans person.
Benjamin Brown
I'm talking about the episode 8 mystery challenge. Where you actually get to pick a culprit against Bern. Should have made that a bit clearer in my post.
Benjamin Adams
>i sat through multiple episodes of this shit, and the main takeaway is that the villain is some sort of tranny or something, who knows Imagine wasting multiple days of your worthless life, and then calling other people brainlets for dropping this fanfic shit two episodes in.
It's not really that complicated, but it's extremely janky with a lot of hidden tech. Makes it either rewarding or frustrating depending on your mindset.
Man, unironically fuck r07, I'm done with his bullshit.
Owen Phillips
rose guns days has no mistery and it's great same with higanbana volume 2
Zachary Diaz
The person pretending to be Beatrice fell off a cliff and had to live its life as a woman, because his dick was impaled. This is a story that you spent multiple days of your life consuming. I refuse to believe that this entire series isn't an elaborate troll.
Asher Morales
Here you go, I'll keep the unused ones, thank you.
Ok, can someone tell me how much I've been spoiled on Umineko? My knowledge of the series dates back to 2009, when the anime was airing. People were saying that the anime went to shit after like 7-10 episodes in and than it was just best to start reading the VN. I did and finished the first 2 parts. I got caught up with with school and other life shit around that time and never went back to it. Years later(probably 5-6 years ago now) I stumbled upon a thread where I saw where Battlers mom (short white haired women) was behind it all and that one of the maids cross dresses and is the killer.
So knowing this, how much does it take away from the overall enjoyment? Is there still more shit I don't know that makes it worth reading or what? I've become interested in the series again with the announcement of this new project and figuring out the PS3 versions been translated now.
Evan Lopez
>can't even talk about umineko on this board anymore because all the retarded children here are obsessed with trannies Ebin.
That reminds me. I was certain the solution for the logic error was going to be that Erika fell in love with Battler and simply let him out of the room. I thought this was what 'without love it cannot be seen' was referring to
Oliver Sanders
boo-hoo the story did not pander to me and my headcanon therefore it's bad

Can you shut up you bitter 40 year old virgin? Just because you're a failure doesn't mean everyone has to feel like you.

You think it's easier to believe that somehow Yasu survived after what we saw in Episode 7 teaparty and at the end of Episode 8, that she somehow still has access to a fuck ton of money (supposedly the gold can't be transferred to cash unless you know the right people, Genji is dead so he can't do it), that she's able to live perfectly normally after the whole incident even though the whole incident was a result of the fact that she's broken and crazy, that she somehow managed to find Battler after he fell off a boat (if you want to say he didn't fall off a boat then you need to give some alternate explanation for why he has no memories, and I don't think there's any possible explanation that actually has foreshadowing), and that the whole thing about Battler helping write the message bottles from his recovering memory was all bullshit and it was just written by Yasu who remembers everything clearly.
This is just bullshit, I don't know how anyone can believe this.
Tyler Carter
>tfw liked Beatrice until the end of episode 4

Don't even bother, Ikuko=Yasu believers are just as delusional as Rosatrice believers
