Rank the Yakuza series (of the ones you have played) from best to worst

When are those cunts going to release 3, 4, and 5 on current-gen/PC? My PS3 got the yellow light years ago and I'm not buying another one.

I don't understand why the devs were against making Saejima an actual murderer. The coliseum scene was really powerful and then almost immediately underminded by fucking rubber bullets. Setting it up so the other guy (can't remember his name) was the actual murderer just turns him into a cartoonishly evil character rather than a villain with reasonable motives.

Was it just to make sure he'd have a place in the next game?

Friend gifted me 0 and 1 a week ago. Never played any of them. Starting at 0, and really enjoying it. I see everyone pretty much all agreeing 1 is the worst of the series. Why’s that?

I just think they're really overcomitted to the idea that none of the game's protagonists should be murderers, no matter how dumb they have to get to justify it.

Whether you're talking Kiwami or the original game it's pretty weak as the story goes, 1 specifically has pretty bad combat and really lacking substories and side content, while Kiwami just feels like a mod of 0 and a lot of the stuff in it just feels like you've seen it before but better in 0, it carries over a lot of the really bland substories from the original game while not adding in too many good new ones and the bosses are often a chore to fight. Kiwami as a whole just feels like a mediocre mod of 0, which I imagine even the developers knew considering it wasn't a full price game.

I suppose I'm more jaded against 6 just because you really had to grind the gym mini game to not get tired of running every three seconds or have to buy water at vending machines. Also the baby minigame sucked and the baseball minigame wasn't that interesting.

6 is the worst in the series, hands down. At least 3 had a certain charm to it. Only 0fags say 1 is bad because they've only played Kiwami.

I've played 1 and Kiwami and I don't like either.

Kiwami's way better than 1 contrarian, no one wants fixed camera angles when half of the appeal is walking around a detailed city. The combat's better, all the cutscenes use the same rigging/animations so it's objectively better, and it has all the same content plus some other shit they added.

2 vs Kiwami 2 is a different argument though, there's no definitive answer for that one.

Post your ranking then. 1 definitely isn't better than 5 or 0 in gameplay or story, 4 in gameplay, or 2 in story. You could argue that it's better than 3 and 6 but that doesn't make it a good game.

1 is bad though. It's understandably bad being the beginning of the series, but it does nothing that other games in the series don't do significantly better. It has a lot of the same issues Kiwami does on top of some of its own issues that make it even worse.

I wouldn't say that, but they're both lower tier games in the series either way. I think they both have pretty bad stories, unengaging combat, though 6's is fun before you get over the novelty of throwing people into cars and buildings, and lacking side content, but I think 6 is less bad in those areas compared to 1, at least if you take 1 in a vacuum. Its story becomes more engaging through Kiwami and 0 because of how they handle Nishiki in those two, but it didn't have much to offer on its own and if you're talking about the vanilla game.

No it doesn't. If Kiwami didn't have damage-sponge bosses or Memejima Everywhere then I'd like it more.

They cut an entire area and added the dumb construction minigame. The music isn't as good. Also, the combat wasn't as fun as Y0's combat.

i liked 6, infact i liked it more than 5, but i still think 6 is a weak entry due to taking far too long for the game to get fun, and the game being a good finale, but not the finale the series deserved.

with that said it DID have some of the best side stuff, like baseball, and clan manager.

3 is out on ps4 but its not translated

I like Yakuza 0 but there is no way i am playing 1-6. This games are long as fuck and the story is not THAT good to spend the 80 or so hours every entry requires.

But construction minigame is fun.
