Where's my new game? I don't want to have to play Stardew Valley to get my farming fix

Stardew is a good game, but have you not tried Trio of Towns? You could alsp play Rune Factory 4 on 3DS.

The good news is the new Switch game is coming out pretty soon.

The bad news is it's a Doraemon crossover

Stardew is harvest moon that gives a fuck again. It's that or runefactory.

who cares. the king of the genre is on the move again

>latest SoS still doesn't have as much characterization and things to do as the fucking DS installments of RF

Does Story Of Seasons: Trio of Towns ever get interesting or good? It feels like it could have been a phone game...
I really miss Harvest Moon 64. Stardew was great as well. But the SoS and HM games now are just bad imo.

>I want a modern BTN harvest moon
>it's a crossover

monkey paw'd

HM/SoS started becoming so shit after DS, I don't think I liked any of the games after HMDS and I've played them all.
Answering your question, imo no it doesn't.

It's criminal how SHIT SoS is compared to RF. This genre should have been perfected already but here we are.

>This genre should have been perfected already but here we are.
But it was, 16 years ago.

>Didn't believe it
>look it up
>Its real

Doraemon Bokujou Monogatari, who the fuck asked for this? Is is even going to have any romance options? What the actual fuck is this game going to be about?
At least they confirmed there's an actual SoS in development, here's hoping its not absolute garbage.

I didn't think Sunshine Islands and the Bazaar one on DS were that bad. The first one of DS though had horrible controls. But same sentiment really. Anything after that has been terrible.

Crossover aside, they seem to have returned to the BTN style of gameplay which is actually something I want.

>RF
>king of the genre

There are 6 RF games and 4 of them are bad.
And the heavy RNG in RF4 almost puts it in shit tier. Rune Factory must be the most overrated farming game even more than Stardew.

Nice to see Marvelous has their priorities straight this gen.

>Rereleasing RF4 with an added Waifu Mode
You're damn right they do.

>waifu mode
explain?

I'm not going to look up what game you think is perfect but it's not. Every single one has some combination of bad game choices that other games solved.

The story act thing is overblown. The rest of the game generally great makes up for the single inconvenience. It's not like it's hard to beat HM, which peaked at MM and only ever went down hill from there.

fite me

>single inconvenience
It's not just Act 3
The story AND the marriage are RNG gated. Changing the marriage system like that for no reason is a serious blow the how good the game is.
And that is why RF4 is not better than RF3 let alone new SoS games.

The first one for DS was just called Harvest Moon DS, and if I remember correctly it had a similar control scheme to fomt same art style too, the second one was one of the island ones, and it had some garbage touch controls, that one was so bad it hurt to play. I don't remember Island of Happiness, I know it kept the same art style as the previous Island game, but other than that it was extremely forgettable for me, and Grand Bazaar was when they completely fell for this new style of SoS games that they still haven't left behind, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either imo

I'll yield to your rng thing for RF3 because I personally don't much care for the actual marriage part. However you seriously cannot try to claim the new SoS games are good. They are lacking in every single department possible. Bad game balance, bad locations, bad villagers, bad goals, bad gating.

MFoMT or gtfo

Story of Seasons is one of the few games I've actually traded in to Fucking Gamestop because it was so bad

SoS2 is the best HM has been since Animal Parade.
Easily better than the last RF game to be released. And if the switch version of RF4 is just a port without them fixing shit it's going to stay that way.
RF4 was such a rushed clusterfuck with tons of asset reuse that didn't really fit together after Act 1. Awakening the guardins is fine and all, but after that part act 2 and beyond just feels cobbled together.
With how suddenly and limply Act 3 ends it wouldn't surprise me if they had to cut some ending cutscenes from it.

For me its HM64 Karen

Hell no it's not, SoS2 isn't even better than SoS1. All they did better was fix the egregious gold thread exploit. Somehow they made the everything even weaker than it already was.

Such a man of fine tastes.

>the game that actually runs at a consistent fps, brought back the shipping box, improved the cultivation of non standard crops (bees, fish, paddies, etc), has less time gated equipment, and removed pointless rng is not better than the game with those things
Okay dumbo. Anyone who actually prefers SoS1 to SoS2; Trio must be a masochist that enjoys inferior gameplay.

I like BTN drunk skank Karen.

For every step they made forward they made 2 steps back somewhere else.

SoS2 had plenty of retarded time gated things that you had to predict months in advance or get locked out another year. Nonstandard crops were still worthless. I don't remember what RNG you're talking about, was it unlocking the vendors? And it ran fine on my machine.
But hey shipping box, that totally makes up for the trash fire that was each of the three towns and everyone who dwells within them. They forgot to pay attention to balancing money at all, just like in 1. Blah blah blah another nitpick that you don't care about.

Anyway both games are TRASH.

Every Karen is a good Karen, user! Don't let others shame you for it!

Getting the greenhouse equivalent in SoS2 requires you to just complete the story tasks. Then the time gated anything is gone.

Getting the greenhouse in the first game is locked to year 2. Getting the upgraded greenhouse ferris wheel is locked until year 4.

The vendors are just tedium and the final two have absurd padding requirements
Some reverse marriage confessions require recipes sold by traveling salesmen and those are 100% rng and set weeks in advance so you can't save scum them either.

>if I call nonstandard crops useless then it doesn't matter that the system is better in the other game
>doesn't matter that you actually can't improve the quality of them in SoS1 because they just reset in the winter
>doesn't matter that food has powerups in SoS2 unlike in SoS1 and the best powerups require nonstandard crops
You're just wrong here.

Anyways SoS2 is better than both SoS1 and Rune Factory by a long shot.

That's not best girl but

I admit I do play it while I listen to podcasts.

I hadn't played Harvest Moon since A Wonderful Life and Trio of Towns was really nice. They overstretched with having three towns, Lulukoko is the weakest of the three, but I like that Westown is a pretty accurate portrait of my home state's ranching areas.

Played as both female and male, but I couldn't decide between Lisette and Komari.

I will admit I didnt know you could ativate character names on the map until late game. Made delivering packages easier.
