I'm real weirded out that the platforming and adventure world was a hell of a lot more fun than the combat.

At least we had good games. Can't say the same for the likes of Bleach and One Piece.

Fuuuuck this game was pretty solid. Probably the first """""open world""""" game I ever played and they did a decent job making me feel like a ninja. Running up shit, platforning and all. Art was pretty good too if I remember. I played it back when I was a narutard, but I wonder if it's still solid.

anyone played clash of ninja for the gamecube? it was the only game i had and i just autistically played it nonstop.

I played it some as a kid and a bit more emulated a year or so ago. Its pretty neat, but I've always been bad at fighting games and especially bad at 3d ones with a juggle focus.

the modernization kinda killed the cool aesthetic of the villages. also barely made any sense. over the course of like 5 years they jumped forward technologically what probably should've taken decades. just clashed with the aesthetic really hard. they're using fucking tablets for christs sake.

The one-shot for Naruto seemed to take place in a much more modern setting. I think Kishimoto wrote 700 chapters of Naruto just so he could write something in the setting he originally chose.

Personally I just sorta head-cannon the changes more on the pre-existing schizo tech levels evening out and becoming more accessible now that the ninjas weren't chimping out and destroying whatever infrastructure pops up in-between their frequent wars.

I think it's a matter of how things have calmed down for the most part. Now that people have fought together and come to a common mutual standing, there's some room to grow and expand. Is there anything in Boruto that comes close to Orochimaru, the Akatsuki or Kaguya?

Just be grateful you got your Naruto craze licensed videogames from the PS3 gen when graphics became "good enough" in general for cartoony games. You can get decent SFM usage out of that. But something like Ranma or Sailor Moon? Not very likely to get a current gen or even next-gen game.

You have no idea. I only finished Naruto out of obligation, but man does Naruto, the protagonist, suck. How can anyone like this weak bitch boy who tolerates being repeatedly beaten up by Sakura the cunt (yeah cunt you go and beat up the protagonist til he's bloody but when an actual villain shows up you're generally useless and need the same guy you pummel to save your worthless ass) or attacked by Sasuke.

Naruto himself was the main problem to me with this franchise. I mean I don't ask for much from my protagonists, they can be hypocritical Gary Stus (after all Naruto is the reincarnated son of Ninja God), but I want them to be reasonably written. If people treat you like garbage? I want you to insult and even attack them right back. Naruto was a masochist beta loser to such an embarrassing degree that it was very UN-pleasant to watch (like the scene where Naruto also accepted that obese ugly black whale girl beat him up because he wanted to take the beating in Sasuke's place).

I've always been kind of into Naruto but not really and I already know 70% of the story (more or less) through second hand exposure, but I feel like reading or watching hundreds of chapters/episodes is a chore. Do the games do a good job retelling the series?

There are two torrents on nyaa right now - both complete collections with 5 seeds. Just search for "naruto" under the "literature" section on nyaa dot si.

Sadly I can't vouch for either of them since I read and re-read naruto back in the day where translations where everywhere, but times have changed. I'm currently downloading the anherogold-empire group since theirs is really nicely organized.

Also grab CDisplayEX for a reader if you don't got one, switch it to manga mode, and you're set.

I do argue that Part 1 is actually a solid read with a fun cast, and decent plot and fight scenes. Speaking of which when you hit a X v Y chapter, feel free to just search that fight on youtube. Some fights are cool to watch, but others like Lee v Gaara are a treat.

Enough of me spazzing out. After Part 1, play the games. They are really fucking nice to look at, and do a better job at telling Part 2 than the anime or even the manga at times.
