ESO has better minute-to-minute combat, an actual real PVP system, player housing (which is superior to garrisons in every way) and a much deeper customization.

I re-subbed to WoW a few weeks ago. I remembered loving Legion, and was so pissed during the start of BFA. I was exhausted. I was tired. I deleted WoW, un-subbed, and never thought about coming back. But then my buddy told me about a free 3-day thing they had and upon returning, it was aight. I'm digging it. I'm playing different classes, so it's like a new game to me. I'm also not playing hardcore and just going towards achievements and 2nd professions. I hear ESO is pretty good though. Hell, I downloaded it the other day and then re-subbed to WoW the next day lmao. Depends what you like doing, OP. M+'s I really enjoy. PVP/War Mode is cool. The raids are cool. The new zones are excellent. Blizzard totally fucked up between release and 8.1 though. Like, really. Was shit going from based end game Legion to having your character feel weaker. Also, RP is alive still I believe. Next patch is liking pretty good too.

ESO is really good now a days. They fixed and improved most of the shit that was wrong with it years ago.

5 base classes, but shitloads of options and variables within each class.

6 Classes necros in Elsweyr XPAC, only races though nowadays isn't Breton or Dunmer scrolls like in the past.

5 classes (6 soon with necromancer), each class has 3 skill trees + skill morphs that allow each class to opt stamina/magicka damage, tank or healer in terms of role/focus.

you can also combine the class skill trees with weapon skill trees and other skill trees (fighter's guild, mage's guild, vampire, werewolf), so it has a lot of costumization when making a build

This game offers you a large variety of sub par options, and a few optimal ones. Essentially classes offer less differentiation than they do in other games. A Stam DPS Templar and a Stam DPS Dragonknight will run the same core build with some differences based on their class, because the devs can't into balancing and DPS is all about cycling through dots/buffs while light attacking

you forgot Stamina Sorcerer, it's all about buffs and has an infinite fountain of Stamina + heals HP thanks to Dark Deal, that and having a ton of passives that can be applied outside of the class itself

in all seriousness i think it takes a couple charicters to really appreiciate how nice it is in an mmo for you to be able to be whatever you wanna be

Those classes will largely be useless and will all vaguely play the same. Designing stamina to be magicka but green doesn't help. Limited skill set means classes can't really have utility or flavour abilities.

yea, its currently the second best mmo to play rn aside from FF14.
the basegame is decent enough. and alot of the features like stealth and theft are really unique to this mmo, but what makes it really good right now are the recent addons. morrowind was fucking amazing to return to. and the lorefags have a pretty solid RP community going that i partook in for a while. the game is different in style from most mmo's so it can be hard to swallow at first but i think its a pretty damn good game.

I felt like the loot in ESO got really bland when I realized the template, and all my gear was just bigger numbers and a different look
the questing felt like a bunch of reiterations of collect something or delve into a dungeon (to collect something)
some of the bosses had fun mechanics, but not fun enough to make up for the lack of character progression

I have 1.3k hours into ESO and I quit a few months ago.

They implemented a (comparatively) f2p friendly catch-up mechanism that can get you to a reasonably competitive gear level pretty quick, if you don't mind grinding. Someone that pulls out their credit card can still have an advantage though

Does ESO support VR? why would i downgrade from Skyrim VR? There's no point in multiplayer that isn't VR. the VR shooters are 100% interactive, i can reach out and rack the slide on a team mates pistol. i can slide a magazine under a car to him. i can take a magazine out of my rifle and put it in his rifle. why the fuck would i play a multiplayer RPG that was not VR? im never going back yo pushing buttons to attack, i want to swing that sword.

I never liked it to begin with.
I forced myself to play it so I can have a legitimate reason to hate it and at the same time to maybe try to like it for what it is. I lowered my standards many times but they eventually came back up as I noticed how shit it is.

Both are pretty shit as MMOs.

ESO is a dumbed down streamlined version of elder scrolls that uses the "MMO" aspect of it to just be an online platform for selling microtransactions.

WOW is no better in this regard, both are shit MMOs, the entire MMO genre right now is in a bad spot, they're all pandering so fucking hard to whales not realising that the only reason whales buy that shit is so they can show off, and if the game solo player focused with optional mutliplayer, whales won't ever get a chance, because no one will give a fuck about how good their waifu looks in game when no one else is playing in the same instance as them.
