There wasn't just a few single things you could have changed to fix it though
The leveling was fucked up
World bosses were fucked up
Open world PvE at max lvl with the daily reputation grind for shit rewards was fucked up
PvP as a whole was fucked up
The dungeon finder that threw people tryharding for gold medals and people just wanting to do the dungeon together was fucked up
The gear with so much random elements on infusions that you were unlikely to get a single upgrade in the first raid was fucked up
And the game as a whole was fucked sideways with bugs, bugs, and more bugs from every single hole
The dungeons were good, but they were tuned towards people who had spent numerous years of their lives gitting gud playing WoW, a different game, and only the really good ones of them at that, so if you weren't a part of this focus group, you were left with a shit game in all fronts.
Unless you did housing, that was good.

Wildstar was a mismanaged shitheap, marketing department was promising shit they couldn't deliver (see: 40v40 pvp) and apparently the thing was an absolute nightmare for developers to work on.
Wildstar is a game where you'd have to scrap the entire thing, start over and only stick to the "make it like that Joss Whedon show" as your guiding principle. There's really no salvaging what they had.

The 40v40 pvp was in actually, I even did a match once.
Issue was you needed two full 40man premades queueing at the same time to initiate a match, the queue was buggy as hell, and you didn't really gain anything to incentivize people to go through that hurdle for it. Only reason I got to try it was since a bunch of guys were inviting literally everyone in two raids to try and experience it atleast once.

You don't know what you got til' it's gone. People clamor for things they don't have anymore. Wildstar did somethings right like housing, but it also did a lot of things wrong. I miss it but the game died for many reasons.
