>Have the DLC hyped up for literal years before I finally get a PS4 to catch up on some FROM kino
>This guy's theme is one of my favorite in the series
>Reach the fight
>It's shit
You guys got me. I genuinely thought I was in for a good experience, but no, it's the same austistic screeching boss with infinite stamina and 290-degree angle attacks ad nauseum. Even his second phase is a crapshoot.
Lady Maria and Orphan better fucking make good on the hype for this fucking DLC.
Fuck you guys

After a boss this bad, I might.
maria sucks. just parry her bro
orphan mightve been cool but i beat him on my second try due to being around bl200
Ludwig looks chaotic and random but the fight is very orderly and predictable, git gud. Even someone like me can do that fight naked. There is a free blood vial NPC right before his gate.
Also Lady Maria is the actual overrated shit, you have to legit gimp yourself to make the fight challenging, she's easier than most NPC hunter fights.
the fight is great faggot
also, it was much more impactful for those of us who bought the game at launch and had spent all that time hearing about this dude and using the sword named after him.
Then the DLC finally came out and when you finally get to meet him you find out that he's been turned into this giant abhorrent monster and the thing that was really making his decisions all along was some magical mystery deity space sword
Ever since release no one hyped up Maria as a challenging boss, quite otherwise.
I get that, but that's also literally just a retread of the buildup to Artorias anyway.
NO FUCK YOU IT'S WAY BETTER THAN THAT
Waifufags still babble and hype that fight until someone slaps some sense into them
Yea Forums is probably worse at vidya on average than reddit these days, can't believe the amount of bellyaching over Demon of Hatred I've seen yet the guy is easier than even Cleric Beast
YYEEEAAAAAOOOOOGHHHH
*mashes ballsack at you repeteadly*
CLEAN IT, HUNTER
Not really. DS1 at least gave us a good boss fight out of it.
it's an excellent bossfight, what don't you like about it?
I realize saying this makes me sound like a shitter, but the camera and hitboxes genuinely ticked me off. I've played every "From Souls" before this one, including Sekiro, and I expected that this one was their magnum opus based on reputation. In reality I have found all of the bosses to be just loud and annoying, and not fun or interesting to fight or look at.
It's kind of embarrassing to see a post like this.
Maria is pretty hard if you don't have much stamina and don't know her moves well enough to parry her. If you do have a lot of stamina, you can chain stun lock her for a ton of damage and beat her pretty easy. Otherwise you have to basically rely on parries because it's too dangerous to even allow her to swing at you in phase 3
Not that guy, but the charge he does is absolute fucking bullshit and I hate it with my very core.
lmao that overcombo 8 seconds in
But noooo it's all the game's fault bawwww
I beat her very quickly my first try, was sort of disappointed cause she had a good aesthetic.
I liked the fight, but I was disapointed because there was no fucking buildup to fighting ludwig. The setting Bloodborne is top notch, but the lore is lacking. Up to the point I faced Ludwig all I knew was that he was one of the first church hunters, and that his followers copied his sword. In Dark Souls I had way more clues leading to the fight with corrupted Artorias, and I understood magic had sent me to the past. I still don't know what the fuck the hunter's nightmare is supposed to be, and I platinumed the game.
You're right in that there's not a lot of interesting mechanics at work during the boss fights themselves, but damn do I love some of the designs. Couple that with the music as well, and it's pretty fucking great.
Ebrietas, Rom, Ludwig, Mergo, Micolash, and Amelia are just really fucking cool fights to me.
Just learn the tell, don't stand by the wall or on the corpse piles and you're fine to dodge it.
If you want a completely bullshit charge Ebreitas is where it's at.
Can't be worse than Micolash. Also even if ludwig sucked Lady Maria is said to be one of the bet fights in all of soulsborne
>I still don't know what the fuck the hunter's nightmare is supposed to be, and I platinumed the game.
That's a problem with you dude
I guess there's a reason shitheads like Vaati are so popular, so many of you tards can't figure out anything without spoonfeeding
You objectively have shit taste. Stick with the Witcher series.
it's so easy to dodge it if you don't panic and try to dodge it straight backwards like that
I never complained, I post that webm because it represents a typical players mistakes against ludwig
you should try fighting her under-leveled / with a twink build
>lore is lacking
No.
if she was challenging maybe
the whip using hunter NPC you fight on the stairs in the clocktower is more difficult
>Micolash
>bad
Someone didn't get the memo that we like Micolash now because Mathewmatosis said it was good. Sorry buddy but your opinion is outdated.
>he didn't join the Legion
>he didn't into whirligig
heh, another noob tricked.
Imagine you have a pet bird, and it lives in a bird cage.
The bird sees it as a somewhat accurate but still off representation of it's natural habitat.
It sees you occasionally, but cannot comprehend what you are, why you are, why you sometimes feed it and nurture it or punish it. You have a vague sense of what you must do.
Now imagine you are that bird. That's the hunter's nightmare.
That's what the great ones are to humans.
If you still don't understand, read some Lovecraft stories. Bloodborne is probably the best Lovecraft inspired game of all time, and Miyazaki likes playing around with concepts and the kinds of beings from that fiction.
chomp chomp chomp
Playing the DLC underleveled or flat out BL4 is a surreal experience.
>Phase 2 Ludwig insanely harder than phase 1
>Lady Maria way harder than Ludwig
>Living Failures a nightmare boss, taking forever to kill and full of one shots
I have really played too much Soulsborne at this point so every new playthrough I do the DLC before the Forest even if I don't need to and it's such a nice challenge still even with all the experience, plus then you get the reward of trivializing the base game with everything you find in there. I don't like the basegame too much, especially everything that comes after the Forest. I mean I still love Bloodborne but I think the second half isn't very good gameplay-wise and gets carried by the cosmic horror aesthetic twist and that's why some people do not notice.
>arcane build
My negro.
It is a game so unique that a good sequel is almost impossible.
Kos was better
I don't think it needs, or should even have a sequel.
Yeah when he's actually a fair distance away from you. If he does it while you're being aggressive you're going to get fucked, I honestly think it's too punishing.
Yeah but ebrieates is a fucking bitch that has no other moves so she's not even remotely in the same class imo. I concede she's got a shittier hitbox though.
My favorite build is 25/25/50 STR-SKL-ARC at level 117
I can use every weapon effectively with it if I have cold abyssals, I have the min requirements to equip everything except bloodtinge weapons, excel with ARC based split-damage weapons, and can use regular split damage weapons like Burial Blade and BOM alright. Only the Amy Arm really sucks with it; for that you need 50 STR
>I don't like the basegame too much
Same. I love BB's DLC but the base-game was pretty underwhelming to me. Its the only Soulsborne game that where I was actually looking forward to it ending on my first playthrough. So many things disappointed me about it.
>get hype as fuck after killing Gascoigne because I thought if he was the first boss the other bosses were going to be amazing
>most of the other bosses are just giant blobs of flesh that flail their arms around and barely do anything
>hear about Brygenworth and assume its going to be the Anor Londo equivalent
>slog through the shitty ass forest hype as fuck for Byrgenworth
>its literally just a fucking room and Rom is one of the worst bosses in the entire series
The DLC however was everything I wanted out of BB and more. If the Old Hunters was a standalone it would probably be my most played game out of the series.
Nah i find ludwig build up better.
Also the moonlight meme sword being part of the lore once again makes It way better
Lady Maria’s theme is easily 10x better. i feel like ludwig’s has become a meme at this point. no one REALLY likes it. people just say they do for the (you)s
also, her fight is actually really fun too. no autistic screeching monster with 290-degrees angle attacks, can confirm.
Her theme starts out very cool, but it becomes too busy. They keep layering it until it's just noise. The same thing starts to happen with the song for Ludwig phase 2 IMO.
Best songs in the game are Laurence, Gehrman and The One Reborn
Living Failures theme blows Maria and Ludwig's melodramatic farting out of the water
Old Hunters DLC is genuinely overhyped.
Half of it is a reskinned area with reskinned enemies. The hamlet is the only actual interesting level in the whole thing and it's over all too soon. Ludwig and Kos are good. As for the rest I think people were just starved for weapons and new content given how short vanilla BB was.
That is because it is just Holst's Mars.
>Half of it is a reskinned area with reskinned enemies
Thats just a lie
The first half has much better level and boss/enemy design than the second half. Central Yharnam is an amazing area, Gascoigne is an incredible boss, the game sets the bar so damn high right from the start and then everything post-Forest is a let down. The thing is that the atmosphere is still very gripping and you're usually distracted by the interesting turn of the game's aesthetics/lore, but if you look at all the bosses that are strictly post-Rom the only good ones are Gehrman and Ebrietas. And it's not only the bosses, the areas are much worse too.
>Half of it is a reskinned area with reskinned enemies.
You mean the first less than third of the DLC, which is supposed to be a distorted dream world version of a location you've visited. The rest is completely new. You claim the hamlet is the only interesting level, but that means you must have gone through the clock tower as well, yet you didn't mention it. Why?
>The hamlet is the only actual interesting level in the whole thing
It's a more boring area than even the chalices
WHOA BARNACLES AND SLUGS WITH A MONOCHROME COLOR SCHEME AND YET ANOTHER DOG RESKIN SO DEEEEP
Even though Maria isn’t as hard as Lolwig or the Orphan, I found her to be controller-throwingly frustrating. There’s nothing like getting her to 5% health, only to be one-shotted by a bullshit 360 degree ghost-range blood spurt. Hate that fight with a passion.
The Research Halls is a better area than the Hamlet. People don't remember it fondly because it's easy to get lost but once you don't get distracted by that it's one of the most interesting levels in Soulsborne.
>rearranged Cathedral Ward
>regular hunters, beast patients, bloodlickers, and a bloodstarved beast
>research hall has wheelchair gunmen, rats, and torch doctors
research hall is short and tedious
by that logic the DLC has no good levels. Figures, given most people just consider it a boss rush with some bonus weapons.
I'd like it more if it wasn't for the bullshit IV-stand swinging assholes
Like what the fuck
Just wait until they run out of stamina! kek
Felt the same. The Hamlet was easily the weakest area, and that monochrome color scheme was seriously fucking with my vision and depth perception. I just wanted an extension of the research hall desu, maybe the “study” building which could echo the library at Cainhurst (another awesome but underutilized level)
I don't truly hate it but i do admit it was quiet underwhelming after all the hype, visuals and cutscene was cool at first but the fight itself was kinda meh... Cool sword tho.
But orphan was even more disappointing after all the hype and he just took two tries from me. Had more trouble with the mooks more than the bosses in the DLC. But overall still enjoyed the DLC alot because of the new outfits and weapons.
They are blind to you if you just walk and they are parry bait when they do their flurry attack. They're mostly dangerous for knocking you off the edge
Is there literally any way of dealing with those OP cunts besides 1) luck, or 2) hunter’s axe charged r2? They also have like twice the fucking health of the regular mentalists, for no apparent reason
All the other DLC areas had tons of interesting visual storytelling, hamlet basically just told me that boy they sure like slugs and hey did you know you can even make candles out of slugs and turn into slugs? Slugs.
Love the end beach with Orphan of course
apparently orphan's AI learns what moves you can and can't dodge each time you die
good luck, OP
their windup times are huge so easy to parry
Its a fine boss, But gameplay wise it really isnt anything special. And anyone who tells you otherwise about ANY boss in bloodborne is lying through their fucking teeth
Its all about the atmosphere and presentation, How the gameplay tells a story. He fights more like a dark souls boss in the second half, Slower and more predictable, but a lot more refined, showing how hes regaining his humanity
Lady maria isnt that great and has some shitty hitboxes, And orphan is just more spam and screaming.
Th..there’s Bloodborne DLC??
user if you're being serious close the thread and go buy it if you've played the game and liked it, and dont come back until you've beaten it
Are you fucking kidding me?
Good job triggering me retard, it's probably the best DLC of all time.
>But gameplay wise it really isnt anything special
What the fuck do you even mean? Every souls boss is approached by iframe rolling out of attacks and attacking at openings.
>And anyone who tells you otherwise about ANY boss in bloodborne is lying through their fucking teeth
Yea man, it's not like TOH has the best bosses the "series" has seen. Their quality blows every boss in souls out the water, mechanically and presentation wise.
Let's not get too crazy.
Too busy with Sekiro but I will. Played through BB twice but it’s been maybe two years or so
What weapons should I use for a mostly str, some arc executioner/church build?
I'm thinking wheel/moonlight with ludwig's rifle and a flamethrower, and kirkhammer/something as filler before I reach those.
What are considered typical soul levels for doing the dlc and endgame, or the chalice dungeons? I missed out on the dlc and chalice stuff on my first playthrough.
>Str + arc
>Executioner church build
You gotta go with the wheel. You can rush it pretty easily if you're good at logarius's fight
And by the time you reach the moonlight sword, You may as well upgrade it since you'll have enough materials and its still a lot of fun
For BB, its been a while since i've played it since i sold my ps4 because it has literally no games, But i think around 70-80? Chalice dungeons can be anywhere from 10 to 80 depending on which one it is exactly
Logarius seemed like a wimp on my first play so I'm not worried about rushing it.
Do the wheel and moonlight sword have more emphasis on str or arc? My current idea was my str would end up double my arc.
DLC should be approached at BL60 to 70, higher if you're struggling. You should get the endgame at BL70.
>What weapons should I use for a mostly str, some arc executioner/church build?
If you have PS+, you can acess community made "False Depths", glyphs for chalices that allow you to get any and all weapons in the base game by just getting the first chalice from bloodstarved beast.
here are the glyphs
docs.google.com
you can also access developer chalices and see (and fight) unused bosses that were cut from the game
Wheel is more focused on strength, But when transformed its more ARC
Moonlight is the same way i believe, You might want to invest more into arc than you intended, but that wont be so bad
Maybe like 35/35 then? My first character I ended around 90 and had somewhere around 45 skl and 28 blt, rest into vit. I'm guessing I could get away with lower vit on my 2nd play.
no, go for 25/50 str/arc
>Ludwig
>Not one of the greatest bosses in gaming.
I don't get this new meme, Op. Is this just shitty bait? Or is OP playing 4 dimensional chess somehow?
Why so little str compared to arc?
and go for cruel fate as a starting class
because it'll deal more dmg when tricked
also you stated that you want to play with the hmls, which scales even better with arc
Since cruel fate has no blt at all, should I skip on ludwigs rifle?
Does the tricked damage beat out the untricked damage if stats were reversed?
