It's alright, nothing too special gameplay-wise, platforming and boss fights are so-so. Pretty good soundtrack.
Yeah, its good. Has good atmosphere and music.
The original is a LOT of fun imo. There are some optimization mods for it thankfully so you can at least run it, but a bit of a pain in the ass.
Shame it's not on digital platforms yet..
one of the best of its year desu
>Shame it's not on digital platforms yet..
if think gog has been negotiating for a year now to get it. no news on it yet though.
Hasn't aged very well imo
I just started playing it a few days ago, it's really nice
It's basically third person Quake with some platforming gimmicks. The level design is quite varied though, it never gets stale and nothing feels like padding. A lot better than the second game if you can overlook the lo-fi graphics.
It's actually a complete clone of another game called Heavy Metal FAKK2, down to the same exact engine version, parkour and curscene code etc. But nobody remembers FAKK2.
all i remember about playing this game is being scared the entire time
i loved it but the atmosphere really got to me

Download it from here. Make a desktop shortcut to the .exe, and put "-RunningFromAlice2" without the quotes to the end of the shortcut properties target line. Apparently when Madness Returns was on Steam it was supposed to include the first game, but didn't, and this is the original game with some fixes like widescreen support meant to come with it.
I think the game is pretty fun if you start figuring out how to use weapons in combos, like throwing the knife when it's available before switching to the jacks and throwing them, then finishing with the ice wand. The music is also amazing and it has a great atmosphere.
Haven't entirely been interested in the sequel, most people say it wasn't as good except visually, the soundtrack was really bland compared to the first game, and even McGee said the game had a lot of problems during development.
>But nobody remembers FAKK2
I do, I love the box art.
>Apparently when Madness Returns was on Steam it was supposed to include the first game, but didn't, and this is the original game with some fixes like widescreen support meant to come with it.
Nah, the slightly updated version of the original Alice was part of the complete collection package for Alice 2. It's Origin exclusive and can only be acquired by activating a retail code, Origin doesn't sell it normally and never had.
If you really want it legally, you can probably still find an unboxed copy of Alice: Madness Returns The Complete Collection on Amazon or whatever and then activate the code on Origin.
Worth a play for sure, it's plenty atmospheric and the combat/platforming hybrid is more fleshed out than Madness Returns despite its age.

That's kind of dumb. I think a lot of people bought it on Steam partially because they wanted the first game too.
Mine came with my standard edition for 360. It's 4:3 but still in HD. The code was used years ago so its fine showing it.
Yeah it was included in all console versions but is exclusive to the complete edition on the PC.
Did she fucked the cat?
It's free on PS3. I bought a used copy of A2 and then downloaded the DLC of A1.
Isn't it just the Wolf ET version of the Quake 3 engine? I don't remember any parkour in Alice, either.
Nah, it's a version of the Q3 engine heavily customized by Ritual Entertainment using a lot of their SiN codebase, in particular their extensive scripting engine, but also a completely new model format with skeletal animation support etc.
The parkour wasn't much but you had ropes, ledge climbing etc. These are mostly shared between the two games.
Well, that makes sense. Hadn't McGee already been in contact with Ritual back when they were called Hipnotic for one of the Quake 1 expansion packs?
Is that the one with the Simon Bisley painted half robot lady on the cover?
She has lots of nice dresses in Madness returns. Not that I like that sort of thing or anything. Just letting you know in case you do like that sort of thing.
Yeah, and Rogue were the developers of the other one of Quake's expansion packs.
Yeah, dressing up Alice is like playing like a little girl with Barbie doll, pretty weird and gay.
Yeah I didnt like it at all. I just mentioned it in case OP liked that sort of thing.
I played it a little while back. Had to install a patch to get the sound to work under Win10, but other than that it ran fine.
