I don't think smurfing is a huge problem in OW.

The game is like 40$ right? Try Dota or League and see how bad smurfing can be.

People have more of a reason or gain to want to smurf in OW than something like TF2 or CSGO.

And CSGO probably still has a smurfing problem despite having to pay for comp and tie your account to a phone number.

Were you going to list that reason? Overwatch really isn't that bad of a community. It's heavily moderated, people get banned every single game.

Smurfing happens in games when someone doesnt wanna degrade their main, wants to pubstomp lower ranks or to just be a dick.

Matchmaking systems incentivizing people to be assholes to each other, because you only play against strangers, which also kills any possibility of communities forming organically. It's also at fault for the perceived rise in "gamer toxicity".

I'd be willing to play Overwatch more if they had private servers with people being able to upload custom maps and shit.

Basically only during PvE events does the game feel inviting

what you may be interpreting as tryhard could be someone else's casual and then even if they are tryhard thats what quick play and arcade are for, bettering your skills for comp.

They should have never added a competitive mode. All it did was attract a bunch of angry sweatmasters who think their shallow, casual hero shooter is a hardcore competitive game worth getting upset over.

This. Comp and the Overwatch league were fucking mistakes.
The game isn't that enjoyable to watch and it's League was forced rather than a natural progression so no-one wants to partake in watching it.

Overwatch is a huge problem period. The only good thing to come from that game is the porn. Its probably one of the worst arena shooters on the market from a gameplay perspective.

It just got super stale for me and all the new characters are unbalanced/healers

You can tell if a team will cooperate or not in the fist team.fight. It's either a 6v6 or everyone on your team tries to solo 1v6

QP and arcade have the worst matchmaking in any multiplayer game ever. Before they hid player accounts, I would constantly be matched with players 1000's of SR higher than me

Team based games with random matchmaking will always be garbage. You're delusional if you think you can stick a bunch of idiots together, half of whom are underage at best, and get a positive experience that rewards skill. Make a premade with friends or just play fighting games.

Competitive matchmaking and punishing leaving was a fucking mistake. Either have matchmaking which just puts you in the first server with the lowest ping or have none at all. People who want to be "pros" can organize their own games. For the average person, matchmaking isn't fun.

No the game needs comp for people who don't find 5 dps and 1 tank fun
