Channel started with "Paul" uploading videos to show it to a friend.
As we know now he also made a post on reddit where he posted the first video but never used the account again. After a few episodes, someone took over his channel and recommended to Paul to keep playing the game.
Paul then went missing at one point and it´s pretty much just the people who took over the channel uploading videos now.

I dunno, it's pretty easy to tell what's going on, now. The player (whoever it is at this point) is solving puzzles by doing specific inputs and then using some weird not-debug function to play back the inputs (labeled "Gens") in reverse. This is the intended solution, because it's triggering expected things like dialog boxes and whatnot.

At 2:03 there is a yell(?) in the background of the new video.

I dunno, I like it. I couldn't give less of a shit about whatever story they're doing, I just love the idea of a game with all many of absolutely insane, obscure hidden shit that nobody knows about because nobody played it. The videos are so well made that it genuinely makes me wish Petscop was a real game so I could spend days autistically searching for how the fuck to find everything. Sorta like finding Hell Temple in La-Mulana with no guide.

I've been thinking about that too, recently. Some of the stuff that pops up randmonly gets resolved after all and some of it ends up being really interesting, like the recording of inputs and things repeating itself, and it's even more interesting when these things use a custom mechanic that hasn't been seen before, but it also feels arbitrary, like it's being decided on the go, rather than being a planned out story from the beginning.

Which is fine, but yeah, it feels even more like a TV show that checks the ratings after every episode and writes the story accordingly, rather than trusting its own material.

Honestly, I'm half expecting this to be building up to the actual release of a game on Steam or something, with the censorship being a way to hide obvious spoilers.

Part of me wonder if the creator had an ending earlier on but saw how much people were getting into it, and decided to expand. The Petscop of earlier videos feels far more contained and 'unfinished beta'-like than what we're seeing now, where there's new assets and features every episode

I'm not saying it's not enjoyable, but the creator needs to take a step back a bit from the obfuscation for the sake of obfuscation. Mystery and unease can be set without deliberately trying to confuse the viewer with multiple blankets of just throwing in random "eerie" implications that never really get fleshed out.

I think it's meant to be indicating that the game was never meant to be played outside of a certain group, or even person. You know those creepy radio messages where people just list off numbers and random disconnected words, then play splices of royalty free music and ice cream truck shit? Knowing what we know now I think 16 is showing off the testing room in the school where you'd lock the subject in to play the game.

I think Petscop may be some fucked up psychological experiment/treatment for abused children or something. You'd have the subject locked up in the school basement (as mentioned in 17) and have them play the game while it logs their movements for further study.

I dunno mang, that list of censored items seemed to indicate that things were at least vaguely planned out for the long term.

So far, it's looking like the game is recording every input from everyone who ever played it. These inputs can even be used to solve puzzles, with some puzzles requiring you to play back input recordings in reverse. Seems like 19 confirms that this game is a kind of test for children and it does indeed record and log their gameplay. From the looks of it, Belle was the only kid to solve the test. Is this why she's referred to as the "Petscop kid very smart" in earlier videos? Is this why she's in the game?

Some guy on the Reddit thread was saying that these videos represent AI self learning and each generation it gets better until it can solve the puzzles. This AI is then, somehow, transferred into real life as an actual person. Is this what rebirthing refers to? Care's AI had no idea what it was doing, is this why she's described as blind in 17? Was Paul a result of one of these experiments and what we saw in the first videos was him discovering this? Might be why there was so much personal info in the game, as he's literally playing out his life story.

I think this is it. These last three videos have laid out exactly what Petscop is and I think 20 might be the finale.

They don't account for you doing anything but what the creator is doing in the videos, so there's a lot that he'd have to do to make it a working game.

I was here when someone (most likely the creator) posted it on Yea Forums two years ago, back when it was just some random video with a handful of views and nobody was talking about it. There was definitely an air of mystery as to its legitimacy back then (that was quickly dispelled) but it was visually appealing and nobody knew a fucking thing about it or where it was going. It's snowballed into the limelight since and IMO has lost its lustre as it continues to spiral into obfuscation instead of giving the viewer something to hold onto.

But at this point I've been invested for two years, and I really want to know how it ends and who even fucking made it to begin with
