???

It’s for the switch

A comfy game. Enjoy the adventure user.

A bad combat system with a decent political story attached.

>configure AI of party
>literally hold forward for the whole game while your party auto battles everything
Enjoy.

FFXII
>boring world
>boring characters
>boring plot
>mostly unmemorable music
>plays itself

have fun, you can pretend you're watching a let's play by your favourite e-celeb while the game plays itself

Any worthwhile changes on the Switch version?

>A bad combat system
no
it has it's flaws but it's a good combat system overall

Is it worth playing if I enjoyed the combat of Xenoblade since people are saying that it’s similar

No it's bad, the core functionality of the combat system is uninteresting its greatest feature is the ability to automate everything. So in essence its strength comes from giving you the option to not play it.

>Dude what if we made literally half the cast be inconsequential to the story
>Dude what if we made a cast that barely says anything and almost never interacts with each other
>Dude what if we made multiple cutscenes where the main character has no idea what's going on and just stands in the background while people who matter speak
>Dude what if we made a character who's literally just a random girl off the street
>Dude what if we made a villain who has zero emotional connection to the heroes and doesn't even meet them until the last ten minutes
>Dude what if we took Final Fantasy Tactics' setting and made it a poor man's Star Wars
>Dude what if we gave the narrator a comical Apu accent
>Dude what if we made a political plot and then ruined it by turning it into standard ancient god shenanigans
>Dude what if we made a plot where the heroes have almost no impact on what happens until 95% of the way through the story and spend their time traipsing through non-descript caves and ruins
>Dude what if I'm Captain Basch
>Dude what if we took everything 100% seriously and had zero levity
>Dude what if we wrote all of the dialogue to sound like a Renaissance Fair
>Dude what if we we had no overworld and all travel was handled by a menu or floating teleport crystals
>Dude what if we made a battle system where you set everything up in advance so that you don't actually play the game
>Dude what if we made summons useless except for opening doors
>Dude what if instead of fun side quests we had only fetch/kill quests like in some generic MMO
>Dude what if instead of having fun side games like the motorcycle chase and Triple Triad we had nothing
>Dude what if we had really shitty music

>A bad combat system with a decent political story attached.

>political story
It's your standard 'power-hungry villain wants to amass the power of the gods for his own ends'.There's nothing political about it. The game certainly pays lip service to politics by constantly name-dropping nations, titles, etc. but none of that factors into the story in any meaningful way.

the treasure chests and bazaar system were also done badly

The meat of pretty much any party-based RPG is structuring your party into certain roles that are going to carry out the same plan in any given mob encounter and the start of most bosses with adjustments made as needed, with the real thought being put in the in-between with how you want to optimize. Gambits just turn what was essentially autopilot into literally an autopilot. If you rely on it wholesale in bosses you're going to get your shit pushed in and if you aren't experimenting in between then you're apparently new to these games.

Fran is love, Fran is life.
Fran should sit on my face,
and become my wife.

Anyone who rates this game (versions of it with speed up function) lower than top 3 in the FF series is a pleb not worth listening to. Go for it

You're not helping your case here. Yes, previous FF games could essentially be played on autopilot. But the solution should have been to fix that, by making normal encounters more engaging, instead of adding a system that makes playing an autopiliot even easier.

The final optional superboss can be defeated on autopilot with a gambit. You're just a brainlet.

A fun and decent game. After you finish it, look up Basch's english voice actor and have your mind blown

You can AFK every boss with the right system including super bosses. If you consider the leg work of setting up the right gambit system for each boss's strengths and weaknesses as part of the combat system, it's still shit.

Don't be the usual ADHD Yea Forumstard and you will have a great time

this

haven't played Xenoblade so I can't say
it's real-time, you can give your party members "gambits" which is essentially programming their a.i. or turn the gambits off and control them directly. you can still control them directly with their gambits on either way, they're just a list of commands like "when a party member is at less than 30% health, heal them, if not, attack the nearest enemy" and you can customize them
you can make the combat pause while you issue commands (wait) or keep time flowing (active)
and you can change the combat speed to slow or fast, allowing you to adjust it to how fast you want to think/how patient you are
since you can move around and range makes a difference, this technically could be abused
zodiac job system gives your party roles
you have a license board you need in order to equip stuff

the game had many flaws and I'm not denying that but I'm fond of it because it tried a lot of new things, it was innovative
while there's a bunch of shit that feels dumb it's still worth playing, there's a bunch of weird hidden mechanics that don't make sense etc.
I just like it purely because if done right the combat would be a great system
>its greatest feature is the ability to automate everything
try controlling a whole party in real-time, if you want, turn off all the gambits and do that, pussy
all it allows you to do is program your party members which is great, would you prefer a dumb a.i. that frustrates you to no end because it wastes your potions or doesn't heal you without your command?

I want either Fran or Bathier (or both) to be my girlfriend.

Don't know him

>ACTUALLY finishing the bestiary
Come on I love this game but oof

>would you prefer a dumb a.i. that frustrates you to no end
No I wouldn't which is why I regarded the ability to automate the combat system's greatest strength in its current form, but frankly having my game play itself isn't a fucking boon to the combat system.

The best thing that happend is Dalmascan night, best scene.

As a person who doesn't like FF XII much I agree with most point, but
>Dude what if instead of having fun side games like the motorcycle chase
Are you seriously trying to say that motorcycle chase (assuming you're talking about VII chase) was fun???

Anybody know what that patch for the PS4 version was few days ago?

FUCK that massive dungeon with the magic floors and gates

And this is why Dragon Quest is and has always been superior to Final Fantasy.

>try controlling a whole party in real-time, if you want, turn off all the gambits and do that, pussy
That's not because it's a real-time party-based RPG, it's because FF12's interface is garbage.
Ever played Baldur's Gate? It has 6 party members + summonable creatures (with no hard limit) + the ability to manually target area of effect abilities, yet it plays pefectly fine.

FF12 has only 3 party members and no summonable creatures that fight alongside the party, and no way to manually target AoE's, yet controlling party manually is way more of a chore.
