She didn't take crap from anyone, she simply wanted to find her family, she's a great partner for Kiryu throughout the entire game, she helps Kiryu out of a bunch of binds and vice-versa, she's essentially a female Date, and they end up getting a relationship out of it until 3 comes and kicks her to America.
I can get her being overbearing at the start but I find it hard to believe you didn't warm up to her over time when she chills out and gets closer to Kiryu.

What are you on about? 0 isn’t even my favourite but it’s definitely by far the most liked in the community, and there are always people in every thread wondering why every Yakuza game isn’t on par with 0 despite that game being released when the series was ten years old. The Kiwami games amend certain things about the PS2 originals but not others, even though I personally prefer the remakes.

I’m trying to make a point that each game is enjoyable in its own right and you shouldn’t expect the “best” each time you play a new instalment. I guess that wasn’t clear enough.

Yakuza 2 is great, Kaoru was one of the first strong female characters in video games and before you faggots say anything this wasn't always some social meme, the story was very good for its time and le twists were very popular but imo has been surpassed over time by the likely of Yakuza 4 and Yakuza 0

Two examples come to mind immediately; Borderlands 2 to Borderlands 1, and Rayman Legends to Rayman Origins. I know there are others.

Sure, it's just more Yakuza and you seem to like them already. Keep in mind both K1 and K2 are still essentially reworked PS2 games so the stories and structure aren't like the later games, and the substories are very hit or miss, but they're still fun. K1 will burn you out if you just recently played 0 though since a lot of it is similar, they basically carried over all the exact same minigames with minor changes here and there.

True. But Y3 onward still can be enjoyed. Hell, I even liked Dead Souls up until the final chase where the car's health depends on the armor you wear and they give no choice to equip something else before starting the chapter.

The level design just kinda shits the bed after you finish Majima’s part which is ironically when the plot actually starts

The game just kinda blows to be honest. Every substory feels the same, all the characters feel the same apart from one weapon that’s basically just a reskin of one other weapon, Kamurocho is annoying to navigate at every single point in the game no matter how big the QZ is, and it lags like fuck. I still love it though

Ryuji by far has the worst substory in the one where you have to find the special ingredient for the chef and they give you like 8 ingredients you have to travel a fair amount to get and you can only carry one at a time. The descriptor for the right one is vague as fuck and it turns out the right one was the very last ingredient I picked so I literally wasted about 20 minutes on one substory

I'm of the same opinion. It's got a hell of a lot of problems but I don't regret my time spent with it. I would love a Binary Domain-esque remake of it or even a sequel considering how often they reference back to it it seems like they enjoyed making it to begin with. Not to mention it let them get very silly.

I dont like the game play and like many japanese games its suffers from endless cutscenes and text to tell a story too.

As someone that's played every localized yakuza game except 5, 0 is probably the worst I've played. The combat feels clunky, the styles somehow have less variety than kiryu's old single style, and tedious hostess/real estate shit is fucking required to learn moves now, rather than a side activity for autists. 2 is still the best game with the best balance. 0 feels fucking retarded when the character's supposed to be in a rush but instead they spend 10 hours grinding hostess shit so they have more than two moves per style.
Don't get me wrong though, I still love yakuza. I like how finding substories seems much, much easier in 0.

I'm with you on that one. Kenzan, Ishin, the BP games, and Dead Souls (Even with its problems) have all been enjoyable to great (Though another thing can be said for the minigames in the BP games...). Judgment can't come soon enough, I really hope Judgment 2 becomes a thing after JE's reception in Japan, I'm just hoping if they keep doing spinoffs it's in new areas while the mainline stuff is in Kamurocho + new areas.

The localised PS4 version originally had a bug where in his boss fight he would use the Chinese voice instead of the japanese voice.

I started with Y0 and the moment I started up Kiwami I got heavily annoyed with the fact you just get locked up for 10 years straight and get released after that like nothing much happened.

Just finished Kiwami 1, the hostess minigame is neat mechanically but holy shit Rina and Yui are both cunts and totally ruined it

Started on Kiwami recently. It feels weird compared to 0 both in terms of fights and the story. The regenerating boss health thing is dumb too especially early on when you haven't unlocked kiwami heat moves. Also it looks like Kiryu and Majima haven't aged a day after 10 years.

There's something about Kiwami that makes me not want to or feel like exploring the area a lot.
I remember getting up to almost 90 hours on Y0 before I even got to Chapter 10.
Now I'm at almost 20 hours in Kiwami and I'm on Chapter 7 now, I never even bothered too much with exploring or hunting for looking for side missions anymore I just focus directly on doing the main story missions, maybe it has to do with the fact I'm already used to or familiar with the map of Kamurocho and the minigames so they don't interest me as much anymore?
