Epic games paid Phoneix Point Devs approximately 3.3 Million for exclusivity

>getting paid for the hardwork youve done is bad

They should had pushed back the console release too.

Back to your hive, insect, Queen Jinping needs you to attend to her.

Yeah chinese style capitalism, we know.

>sell game on kickstarter as a steam game
>get mad money
>skip a year or 2
>”lol jk we epic niggas”
At least they offered refunds.

Who

Outrage over Phoenix Point was specifically because it started out as a crowd funded game that promised its backers Steam keys.

i bet they sold 2,5 copies

K

to be fair you can buy epic keys on green man gaming and humble bundle now.

Good. Steam needs competition its a god damn monopoly.

Its just too bad that the competition isn't super great right now.

Epic man bad, steam good.

>60bux
I don't care about the Epic Store, I'd buy it on there no problem, but 60bux is way too steep.

Isnt this game from the guys who made the original xcom?

>At least they offered refunds
Over a shady 3rd party site that had Chinese ties and they gave no safety guarantees.

Who cares? All these games will be back begging on Steam in a year and you can just pirate them until then.

when you consider modern vidya industry and number of titles we get your game is ancient history in a year. so congrats, I hope that epic "guaranteed sales" dosh was good enough.

>all of these fags too young to remember when steam was pushed against and people were against it becoming a DRM behemoth
>now kids shill for steam and daddy corporation against competition because its all they've ever known

Don't forget
>People on Twitter voiced concerns about refund site's shadiness to Sweeney
>He reassured them by pointing them to a rating website where they are rated 5/5
>People point out that Epic's own rating on that website was like a 0.5/5

I know OP is baiting but is this how people think things are gonna go now, publishers and devs that make money before their game is even released because a storefront paid for exclusivity? This isn't a miraculous solution for either devs or players, it's just Epic sticking it's foot in the door frame until they'll feel confident enough with their position in the market to stop playing the magical charity role

Yeah, Steam was rough. It was also the one to definitely bring digital gaming to life. Epic is not competing with Steam from 15 years ago, though.

There was a time buyfags was mocked on Yea Forums. Now pirates are mocked.

People have just been comforted with status quo and thinking things how they are now represent the best they can be because our only frame of reference is steam. Its had no competition for ages.

I honestly can't bring myself to care about this conflict any more. We're fucked either way, duct taped to the front of this speeding vehicle with no hope of escape. Whoever wins, we'll lose one way or another the moment shit hits a screeching halt.

Attached: 1555735276250.gif (116x166, 123K)

They're the same people hyped over a dumbed down console FPS. It used to be a dystopian joke that we'd have faggots reminiscing Halo as one of the best FPS ever, yet here we fucking are.

Attached: halo.jpg (602x792, 103K)

Who cares when XCOM 3 is on its way.
PP will be janky garbage and if people want classic, Xenonaut 2 exist

Attached: 292243-xenonauts-linux-front-cover.jpg (800x370, 50K)

We all bitched about it in 2006 already. I only installed Steam in 2012, that's like 7 years later.

A lot of things seem like that to me anymore. Not just vidya.

I see people unironically talking about cod mw2 as nostalgic now. Its surreal.

Time waits for no man, user.

>oh no, if steam wins we have to suffer from discounts, fair pricing and mod support
How awful, time to switch to consoles I guess.

With 2K publishing I'm honestly worried nu XCOM will also be EGS

I love this pic because of how it makes tryhard fags think they made a compelling and respected argument just by posting it and parroting it's message

Thanks to all fortnite zoomers and the chinese bugmen for paying for my pirated copy, whenever I download a PC game I'll always think of you and the sacrifice you're doing on a daily basis just for my entertainment

Attached: 1478685819272.jpg (680x453, 54K)

>my frame of reference for fair pricing is a market I only have experience with being dominated by one entity

Mod support on steam still needs work on titles compared to mod nexus or similar too.

>all of these fags too young to remember when steam was pushed against
I remember people being excited we'd have a dedicated platform for, basically, counter-strike but I guess you have a selective memory.
>and people were against it becoming a DRM behemoth
what happened to this?
>now kids shill for steam and daddy corporation against competition because its all they've ever known
saying you prefer steam over epic isn't even remotely shilling

>my frame of reference for fair pricing is a market I only have experience with being dominated by one entity
Right, because Steam is the only storefront on the market right now.

Remember when you could just buy a PC game and install it without tying it to your account?
Steam is still better than Epic though.

>hardwork
It's literally just a reskin of XCCOM 2. Just look at any gameplay, it's exactly the same.

Yeah man, I sure hate those 50%+ discounts I regularly see everywhere. You don't have to buy just from Steam, you know.

Hey wait that's copyrighted content

Its the biggest game in town by a mile. What, you count buying keys from steam elsewhere? Theyre still steam keys. Nothing else besides gog and publisher platforms.

50 percent discount on steam established pricing. Read what I'm saying think outside the box.

And that's unironically based.

Yeah. Keys could be annoying, and GameSpy and equivalents could be as well. But I really think competition is needed. Doesnt need to be like the rest of the net where half a dozen companies basically run everything.

ET was one of the best examples on how an old school multiplayer game could be run though.

>There are still living, breathing human beings on this planet that think Steam was somehow a monopoly, but paying to have a product solely on your shelves and your shelves alone is a healthy competitive market

I can only assume they are all chinamen.

I'll stick with steam thanks tho

>gleefully ignoring other storefronts like Origin and uPlay
For someone that claims to be anti-Epic, you sure are eager to shit on Steam.

with 3.3 million they could have refunded all their backers that paid for the game to come to steam

>50 percent discount on steam established pricing. Read what I'm saying think outside the box.

You mean retail parity. You realize why deep discounts were introduced in the first place because that wasn't the case as Steam started out? Because retailers threatened they would not stock games if they were sold significantly cheaper digitally. Whether retailers are still relevant or not is a separate matter, though. Also

>steam established pricing
Publishers set prices, not Steam.

Epic is based. Devs are getting payed by them so I don't have to pay for the game. My purchase is already accounted for in their contract so I just have to download the game for free.

Attached: 1554824409143.png (640x640, 216K)

so how is epic games helping further linux gaming again like steam is with proton?

>SETHING Gaben cock gobblers
Epic, simply epic.

Publisher platforms genius. I mentioned them. Not the same thing as steam. Underage kiddie.

They set the prices working within steams confines and steams cuts. There is no way to say whether or not they wouldve been different over the years with a competitor like epic taking less of a cut, though I would argue that they self evidently would be.

Because when your competition consists of Epic, EA, Ubisoft, Bethesda, ActiBlizz, Discord and Amazon, suddenly Stream doesn't seem so bad.

it's funny because it's true. I haven't pirated shit in about a decade and I might start again.

That's because games were transitioning from having shit like offline lan and demos to DRM with mandatory internet connection and a registered account to fight piracy and people were not used to that which is why people hated steam back then, but all in all it was for the best had it not been for steam we'd probably have 10x the amount of launchers that we have today or have to use some shitty service like gamespy when borderlands tried that garbage.

I never said anything about Linux gaming. I would like there to be competition to wangblows too, doesnt mean I think steam should be exempt from competition.

Google invests a lot into Linux as well, I dont like them. Do you?

They'd have to be insane; one of the biggest strengths of XCOM 2 is the Steam Workshop
>BUT NEXUS
Nobody cares, likes, or enjoys using the Nexus. The Nexus fucking sucks.
>BUT I USE MY OWN MOD LAUNCH-
Most people like being able to click "Subscribe" and just have the mod fucking work, rather than download 12 iterative versions of the same mod launcher.

This is because people are generally retarded or lazy, obv, but still

>You realize why deep discounts were introduced in the first place because that wasn't the case as Steam started out?
really? I genuine don't remember the early years because I just used it as mandatory counter strike authorization system once they phased out cd key checks.

Kickstarter is not for selling or preordering.

Then keep using steam. Competition benefits you on your platform whether you realise it or not.

Steam isnt above suddenly deciding to do something you dont like or change things or do any number of things. Theyre a company like any other.

Because secuROM and GFWL were so much better.

They already tried reducing the price to pretend that the reduced cut is worth it for Metro Exodus in the US
They jacked up prices in non-US regions to make it for it, even the console prices

>steamfags shitposting baseless china memes
>epicfags shitposting baseless anti steam memes
>no one talking about video games
Phoenix point looks good desu

I didnt know they jacked up prices but I did see 50 dollar pricing on metro.

>even console prices

So they aren't 60 dollars? Or is it just in other regions? Nothing to do with vat or numerous other regulatory taxes?

Either way, epic currently (on PC) is competing just with steam, pricing will dictate that I imagine.

How many you poodle muncher?

Attached: monopoly-Market.jpg (500x372, 55K)

>Nobody cares, likes, or enjoys using the Nexus. The Nexus fucking sucks.

I feel like another important fact that this doesn't feature is that Valve lets publishers sell Steam keys for what ever price they want and keep 100% of the money made from the key sales instead of on the store

>all these faggot DRMcucks that have been sucking Valve's dick for almost two decades suddenly pretend to be pirates
You spent the last 15 years (lets be honest though you probably didn't even play games before 2010) sucking Gabe's cock and thanking him for being able to buy licenses you don't get to own, stop pretending like you have strong enough principles to suddenly become a pirate, and the conviction to remain a pirate without your precious faggot community features and "convenient storefront". You'll be back prostrating for whatever DRM store carries the game you want the moment you realize you have to do more than click two buttons to pirate a game.

Once a buycuck always a buycuck, the best indicator for you being a faggot is that you try to excuse and justify your piracy on an anonymous imageboard. If you were fine taking Valve's dick all these years but suddenly you pretend to become a pirate due to another DRM harming your favourite DRM, you're just a Valve drone faggot pretending to be a pirate.

Attached: 3878567452.jpg (200x200, 38K)

While the shitstorm is going down smart publishers are taking advantage of it to push their own clients.

>Why get Ubisoft games on Epic store when you need uPlay on top of it so you might as well just buy it there in the first place?

Attached: YvesGuillemotco-founderandCEOUbisoft.jpg (700x350, 44K)

How long will Epic keep up this charade, how many times will they have to lose money on these games before they give up?

>"please help us create our passion project everyone, donate to us!"
>makes game in unity
>epic offers them 3.3 million
FUCK BACKERS LMAO!

Pirated exodus after 8 years being pirate free. Suck my dick nigger.

That is a good thing. I did that for rimworld to avoid giving steam a cut.

I didnt know about it until then. One of the few games ive bought recently.

Based.

Not necessarily. I'll probably buy the games I want for that +1 to my library when they're at 75%+ off, but piracy will work fine until then.

Steam was absolutely shit when it started, but Valve improved over time and actually made it a great platform for purchasing and playing games off of
Remember, without Steam, GFWL would have left PC gaming on life support and the majority of PC releases would have been garbage console ports
Ironically Steam was also the reason piracy became less prevalent on PC as buying games became easier, now Epic's exclusivity bullshit is leading to people pirating games

Attached: gun.png (429x445, 323K)

>NO ONLY USE MY GIGANTIC CORPORATE PLATFORM OF CHOICE NOT THE OTHER ONE

Valve doesn't care about you kid. Gaben reddit shit memes are stupid. You dont own your games.

They don't care if you're mad, only that you buy the game. Most people will still buy it.

I believe it's 90 dollars in many Asian countries, I know that mine does not have sales tax on any way at least

Steam is better than gfwl but its not like more competition wouldve made steam worse or will now. You cannot think its healthy to have uncontested monopolies in any area. Its literally never good.

Hopefully epic will change a few things and become a better competitor. Don't want to see one of the only companies capable of adding reasonable alternative and competition to fizzle away.

Based

>claim people won't pirate
>get told
>muh corporations
Suck my dick. Not even going to bother pirating memelands or anno until they release the goty versions in 2021

>overcrowded Steam
Thus nigga be thinking we are running out of internet because there is too many sites

Epic also don't care about you

no one lose anything here

I just want to play fun games like I used to. Why must it be like this now

Attached: 1555742038925.jpg (720x537, 77K)

It's funny - I hadn't pirated a game in a long while and the first three things I end up pirating after my dry spell are exclusives in epic's store. They weren't even that good either

The fact that the creator was so smug to proclaim that even if all the original backers who wanted a Steam key did a refund he's still in the green.

These kinds of developers are scummy as fuck and should be boycotted.

how much did Randy got?

Steam was good between 2009-2013 or so and has only gotten worse and worse since then, competition from Discord made Valve finally fix their broken Steam chat so maybe competition from Epic will make Valve finally provide a worthwhile service for consumers again

Epic store is based, only steam trannies think otherwise

Attached: 1555531932289.gif (1100x450, 788K)

Not even the same guy retard. Keep blowing that corporate dick.

No shit genius. Why do you think I'm advocating for two companies fighting each other versus total corporate dominance by one entity?

Cope harder, nigger. I never stopped pirating and only buy games if loved them and they are cheap enough on sale.

>defending literal scams

Attached: DgA1em9UYAEk-tI.jpg (840x468, 122K)

Listen you ching chong chinese cocksucker, it's not about competition, it's monopolizing games just for the sake of shitting on competition. And not only that, stealing games already announced on another platform.

Let's see if your drone chinese brain can process this. Imagine a new Souls game, that game was announced for both ps4 and xbox one for 1 or 2 years ago, both consoles accepting pre-purchases. Then two weeks before release from software says "oh btw it's going to be released only on xbox one, ask sony for refunds".

It's not about having exclusive games on your platform, is STEALING them when they were already sold for another one.

If you want your piece of shit epic store to not be hated, announce games exclusive to it FROM THE START, and stop with the "timed exclusive" bullshit, it was hated on consoles, it is hated here.

Ching chong tiananmen massacre.

>Now pirates are mocked
gee I wonder why people who are obnoxious are mocked
just pirate but don't make such a show of it fag, I do the same

I bet you'd be seething if Epic made the exclusive deals so they'd push back the console versions by one year as well. Fucking console cuck.

Thank you Epic for paying for this game on my behalf

Attached: 1538130589372.gif (1000x1000, 78K)

He can take a selfie with Tims gold plated toilet.

Okay, what should Valve improve consumerwise? :^)

At the exact same price that it has on Epic.

I haven't really found an Epic exclusive game I wanted to play yet. Somehow they make deals for everything I usually stay away from.

Keep being an edgy retard.

If the epic store remain well curated rather than letting every single shit dev pour their swill into the mix like Steam. I prefer steam, but sifting through all of the horse shit can get tiresome.

>monopolizing games

lmao coming from a steam shitlet.

You know why exclusives havent existed on steam? Because there havent been anyone to fucking exclusive against. The only competition is publisher stores who have their own games and gog.

steam would do the same thing if it could in the face of competition and you know what they will hopefully make some changes in sight of this. Like giving devs more money and improving their fucking service.

If you dont like a game being totally exclusive dont buy or pirate it, many are timed exclusives and most real exclusives are dog shit anyway.

>mentioning consoles

You can't talk about consoles and then sperg about exclusives. Consoles are fucking cancer.

>s-s-stop stealing our games!!!
LMAO seething

Attached: girls_laughing.jpg (398x241, 29K)

competition is good, but buying exclusivity rights is an inherently anti-consumer move and you're a shill if you think otherwise

Enough to feed his wife.
For now.

Attached: 1554543279283.webm (640x360, 381K)

so why are you giving shit about people pirating game or not, genius?

>improving their fucking service.
What should they improve?

>giving a flying fuck how much money the devs or publishers get

Thanks Epic
Now that I know they're already getting money
I can just pirate it without feeling bad

What is the service that Epic could convince Valve to upgrade? Every feature of Epic is already on Steam and the library consists of games that Steam would have on the store if Epic didn't pull an exclusivity deal

Steam suffers from feature creep, honestly. More isnt always better.

I'm not a console cuck you fucking idiot. What has anything I said make you think that?

I dont like the practice but you have to do something to wrest some control away from a giant such as steam

When did I? I gave you shit for buying a game on steam and then pretending like youre somehow based for giving them money

Pricing, and developer cuts mainly.

>Pricing, and developer cuts mainly.
You already said this, give devs more money. Nice.
Anything about the service itself? Or is it just muh more money to publishers

>muh dev cuts
Are the games going to be cheaper then?

Post your PC library, PC gamer-kun.

that's exactly what has steam drones so scared. they've invested thousands of dollars into their steam identity. they don't want a viable competitor because that would devalue the fact that they bought hundreds of games just to boost their profile. nothing scares them more than the possibility that steam might lose. the ball is in epic's court though. they clearly have the funds, now they need to develop the features

how do you expect a store that pays for every single game to survive?
nobody is moving organically, I wonder why

>epic needs 6 months to implement a cart
You're going to be waiting a while for all those (opt-in) features

Post your PC games library. You're not a PC gamer.

Steam has enough shit that I dont care about. I dont use most features on a service to begin with.

If for some reason I'm forced to use DRM shit that is.

Hopefully now that we might be getting real competition. Either way competition can't be bad.

Okay I'll post my steam library in a sec. Any day to get a big pic of the list? Banned from uploading files on 4cuck.

I dont know why you retards think that because I dont play corporate favoritism that I must be a shill. You people are arguing against consumer interest.

I have invested in steam too, I'm just not a fucking corporate drone. I realize I have paid for air and rentals essentially.

I dont like it

So they paid for it for everyone?

Once again I thank Epic for funding my copy

Is Randy a disciple of The Architect?

But what does Epic offer as a competitor? The store is bare bones both library and feature wise and Epic has to shill out millions for exclusivity deals that a majority of Steam users can and will ignore and just wait for Steam releases

Attached: 3908727349082730984.jpg (162x164, 4K)

Yes I am you retard. You little corporate drones are akin to console fags.

>Steam has enough shit that I dont care about. I dont use most features on a service to begin with.
Okay, so you want Steam to improve their service but you don't care about any of the improvements in the first place.

another year maybe

theres no way they can continue like this and think its worth it

Right now it doesnt offer much that isnt the point. Currently all it has is pricing and dev cut. The point is it needs to improve and exist to compete and provide MEANINGFUL competition

Pricing, dev cuts, etc. Are their service.....

what did you expect me to say? Them to improve their chat system or something? Their cut on the market is ridiculous too for funds you can only use on fucking steam.

>Pricing, dev cuts, etc.
You keep saying the same thing over and over and over. Is that all? Just give publishers more money?

I have a feeling they will continue once Borderlands is a huge success just so they can say HAHA TOLD YOU.

But how much does the dev/pub cut matter in the long term if they aren't gonna cut prices, or in the case of Exodus, increase the price?

Attached: 2198738136819637281.jpg (355x780, 34K)

i guarantee it sells over double on steam. its only a 6 month wait, i can wait.

It's been proven most retards who defend epic aren't pc gamers.

Yes? Pricing is the only thing really left isnt it. Epic just has to get their launcher close to some of steams features.

I just dont see what you think a DRM launcher service has to provide. Steam is arguably bloated even.

They cut price on exodus here, sorry if that isnt the case where you are.

If they go back and forth and compete with each other it will be better for the consumer. This is still early days, look how bare the epic launcher is for fucks sake. Give it time. Competition is a good thing for a reason.

>Either way competition can't be bad
Because of your "competition" I have to pay double price for Metro Exodus. Hooray for competition I guess? Thanks for supporting Epic normalizing triple-digit prices in Asia. We used to pay $60 for games on Steam but I guess you find that disgusting and want us to pay Tim Sweeney's $120 prices he believes Asians should pay for his Epic games.

Attached: q1d89ou1oeq21.jpg (640x662, 171K)

Borderlands will be the first game they actually show sales numbers for, and that will be used as an advertisement to get other developers on board.
If they don't post numbers then you know the whole experiment failed. In that case they'll stop paying developers for exclusives, raise their take to 20% for future titles, stop development on the store, and just use it for making money on the side.
Epic pulls the plug on their games all the time, this is no different if it doesn't make HUGE money within a year.

> once Borderlands is a huge success
Even if it's not a huge hit they'll just claim that it was and act like it worked. Extra points if the game gets a lot of viewers on twitch for Epic to claim that it was a big deal like WWZ.

>They cut price on exodus here
user, who do you think is paying for our price cut on Exodus? Nice try if you think they can keep doing this, Eurobros and Asiabros can't pay for Epic's planned cheaper US games forever.

>Steam drones out in full force
Get back to working on Half-Life 3 Gabe, and maybe I'll consider bothering with your greenlight hellhole

I'm not defending anyone, I dont defend epic any more than steam or vice versa. If you think either care about you you are deluded. They are both just vendors for games I want and people want.

I defend competition and the idea that someone being on the level of steam for once will be a good thing..thats all.

One example and apparently only wherever you live because I havent heard that and its not the case here.

Just wait and get It on steam or pirate it then. If exclusivity deals wither steam or epic will have to make a change sooner or later. Either steam giving devs a reason to use them or pricing changes etc.

>Competition is a good thing for a reason
>if I take a gun and go into my competitor's shore and shoot my competitor and steal his stuff, this counts as competition
Competition requires both sides to offer the same thing.

Tencent just launched their own store so that should be interesting. And tencent has no qualms in stealing code from their "partners" as some league players might know.

If Epic Games Store wants to be a big thing, why don't they work on getting a user interface that isn't shit?

>Extra points if the game gets a lot of viewers on twitch for Epic to claim that it was a big deal like WWZ.

I think you mean like Steam drones who said Apex was going to kill Fortnite and thus save Steam from Epic Store

Attached: apex fortnite twitch.jpg (404x335, 60K)

>friend pe-orders borderlands 3 just to "stick it to the contrarians"
The video game industry doesn't stand a chance

Attached: 1551036072906.jpg (1200x1190, 93K)

It does, but fuck their business decision to take backer money and then use that as a springboard to get publisher money.
Regardless of how you feel about steam or epic or any other store, that is a complete and utter scum tactic.

I always found this complaint to be fucking retarded. You have a search bar and you have a filter system. Use them.

Steam has had instances of regional price differences before and I have seen many angry consumers in Europe and other places post about it..

Hell I overpay on steam frequently compared to other countries. I dont see how this is an argument against epic anymore than it is against steam as well. Which if youre making that argument thats fine.

No it doesnt. Not the same thing. Then consoles arent competing because exclusives, thats just asinine.

Chinese government said in an official statement that they are looking of ways to control white men in the west. And this Epic Games thing seems like just the thing.

why are people defending either?

epic is chink spyware
valve havent made a good game in years and dont give a fuck about their customers

>One example and apparently only wherever you live because I havent heard that and its not the case here
Nigger literally yesterday there was a massive outrage because Borderlands 3 was $85 in Australia when Borderlands 2 was still the same. But sure, keep saying "it doesn't affect me so it doesn't count", that totally makes you unbiased.

Retards on Yea Forums claiming twitch viewers correlates with sales is standard. When a company official does it then you know you're dealing with complete retards. Go ahead and spin this in whatever way you want retard

See
I pay more than people in other countries on many things too. Why do you think steam has so many region locked keys

I honestly fail to see how games being exclusive to an online store makes them worth pirating any different from them being available on steam for most-anyone

>overcrowded Steam
Oh no, so many potential customers! No way this game is going to survive that!

>Steam suffers from feature creep, honestly. More isnt always better.
So don't use those features? All I care about is that I can plug in my DS4 and it just works. If I press the home button I can rebind my controls on a game-by-game basis and even use gyro controls for aiming in FPS games.

Epic offers a lot as a competitor.

The thing is, we're not the consumer of digital distribution platforms, game developers are, right now steam is an uncurated mess that takes a 30% cut of your potential profits per copy sold, for a weak market place, it used to be that if you could get your game on steam you were set, but because you're competing for store page space with asset flips, unity school projects, and flash games that belong on newgrounds, the appeal of steam isn't all that great.

Meanwhile Epic at the moment is offering a clean slate with a curated store page that isn't a bunch of greenlit wank, and takes less of your cut.

So yeah, as a game developer, Epic looks pretty good, even if they're going to fuck the players of the games, but also its 2019, the majority of 'gamers' are retarded whales who will buy anything.

>I just dont see what you think a DRM launcher service has to provide.
I just don't see why I need a launcher if it does nothing.
Are you dumb?

I think its nice that you're friends with special needs people.

>Still no picture of his libary.
I'm waiting faggot.

Attached: DOOT.jpg (1920x1080, 157K)

>Offline play: No
Are you fucking serious?

Attached: 4zzhjo522wq21.jpg (640x640, 164K)

As a market place steam hasn't been good for years, I get my games on steam, but I don't look for games on steam, when you look up RPGs you don't get RPGs, you usually get a billion gay VNs these days.

I honestly don't see how it's scummy. Like I'm wracking my brain for the moral implications and I'm not finding any harm done to anyone. No one was even intentionally misled. I really think the only people even capable of being upset about this are vehemently anti-Epic, and that standpoint is not really rooted in logic in the first place, just raw, misguided emotion.

Yeah I remember the DRM free time before Steam, it's not like Securom and Starforce existed before it.
And it's not like those games I own with Securerom and Starforce are PLAYABLE ANYMORE ON WINDOWS.

Yes I'd love if all games were DRM free and didnt require anything. That isnt happening though, and not what this thread is really about.

Tell me how genius. Go up read what I posted. Tell me how to get my library all in one screen, I will imgur it since I'm banned from uploading files on 4cyck

See

>I will imgur it since I'm banned from uploading files on 4cyck
How in the fuck do you even manage that

He's a lying shill thats how

Range ban. Probably too much little girl cunny posting desu

>Begs for ports because devs won't bring their games to PC due to piracy

I love how all of Europe and Asia don't count, only your country counts. Very fair like Epic Games, right?

>i'm totally neutral, but also fuck Steam, and Epic is pretty good
Some people aren't even trying to hide the shilling.

Nope.

Not what I said. I said regional pricing differences dont seem exclusive to epic. Like I pointed out. I dont think you should have to pay more, nor should I or anyone else.

POST YOUR PC GAME LIBRARY. Or stfu.

>Yes I'd love if all games were DRM free and didnt require anything
Piracy exists. Starting to understand what Gabe meant by ''piracy is a service problem''?

>No one was even intentionally misled.
"Give me money and i will deliver you this organic product free of chemicals."
"You gave me money, and i will now deliver you this product that i pumped full of artificial chemicals."

Same product, big difference in delivery.

I'm not the guy you're arguing with but I want to give a counter example to
> but I don't look for games on steam
In the past year alone, using the queue, I bought
>Hard West
>Gloom
>Expeditions Conquistador
>12 is Better than 6
>Lobotomy Corporation
>Shrouded Isle
>Geometry Wars
>Outward
>Cultist Simulator
>Ape Out
>Abzu
I also discovered a bunch of great games on the store front just as I used to do when I first started using Steam. Shadow Tactics, Northgard, Mutant Year Zero and so on. I really don't get why people bitch about steam not being good for searching games when I have no issues finding them myself. And after all that is said and done, there are so many third parties who handle exposing audiences to games, and this has always been the main way people find games, not by rummaging through steam.

Forgot the library shill

>Epic brings games to PC that never would've otherwise
>Somehow this is a bad thing

Here nigger since you didnt tell me a proper way to do it.

Retard see why I didnt want to do this

Here's my take on this shit
Steam dominates not because of some "monopoly" but because the majority of it's users have invested a lot into their libraries
Trying to make them pass downloading more installers, making new accounts, having to give their financial info (even before you have established strong digital security, thank you Ubisoft and EA), is going to make them resent you, especially when you have nothing to do with these games but trying to throw money at publishers for exclusivity deals that so far haven't shown any major success as not a single hard number sales figure has been given since Exodus' release

If you don't want to continue talking about Steams supposed feature creep then don't fucking respond to me.

yeah one game and that's a walking sim, very epic

Newfags with gabens chode 2 inches down their throat

Epic sucks too

Show what's behind the paper. All I'm seeing is PC only games. Do you play multiplats on your precious PS4?:)

Regardless of the reasons for it it is a monopoly

Well if you lived through that, then surely to god you remember how many PC focused developers went defunct in the transition between 6th and 7th gen consoles, and you remember many others who shifted their prioritizes to consoles making PC a secondary platform
and you know damn well that with Steam, PC is somewhat back at the forefront, being a priority for western and japanese devs alike, and for that im happy, otherwise the memes would be true and you will be stuck playing indie pixelshit and shitty western service games while missing out on all of the japanese support

If Steam being the most popular is "being a monopoly" than Epic ain't changing shit

> but because the majority of it's users have invested a lot into their libraries
I have a seriously hard time believing this. I don't like Origin because it was a pain to use and I don't like Uplay because having to use it after buying a game on Steam was incredibly annoying. Despite having most of my shit concentrated on Steam I didn't even question getting an account on GoG because it's a good service.

>Regardless of the reasons for it it is a monopoly
If all monopolies were as pro-consumer as Steam, then I wouldn't mind more of them.

Steam drones are honestly pathetic at this point. Reminder that this is the kind of guy that calls me an Epic store shill chinkoid

I have an idea for lyrics to his next song

>Anyone who opposes Steam must be destroyed
>Anyone who opposes my love of Gaben
>Will have the Steam troops deployed

How is it a monopoly if it doesn't represent an overwhelming majority of sales on the market nor is it the only available option on the market?

Even if steam is a good thing (nowadays its better than some previous things like gfwl) that doesnt mean I dont want competition.

I'm not saying I want steam to die and epic to take their place. That would be awful. I'm saying I want competition and alternatives.

Being the only game in town is monopoly. Steam is the only non publisher launcher DRM store besides gog and gog is miniscule compared to steam. So thats why I say monopoly.

There as "pro consumer" as they can get away with like any other company. There was a time people would deride their market system, their loot boxes and much more as unconsumer friendly. Also look how they handled artifact. Steam is a company like any other.

Right now they are better than epic for the consumer, but that could change, and I hope epic improves to become a good alternative to steam.

It does though. what else is their? Fucking gog? Only alternatives are publisher exclusive stores. That isnt very comparable to what steam is.

>it is a monopoly
70% of the market is not a monopoly epic tard.

You are right about Uplay and Origin being shittier and GoG being better in some ways, they are doing an amazing service to reviving old games
But again, if it was only about the quality of the service, than GoG would be easily seeing Steam numbers but they don't because plenty of people will by default cling to steam
And that just makes Epic's attempt of being the "Steam killer" even more pointless, even if Epic was just as high quality as Steam, plenty will just stick with steam even if it means having to wait 6-12 months before playing it

Attached: morgana.jpg (570x633, 62K)

the point of making games is selling them

It's very easy to tell that you don't actually play games asides from surface level shit

Gog isnt 30 percent of the marker tard. Only other ones are gog. Thats where epic needs to come in.

>there is only Steam and GOG on the market
YIKES

>you aren't a PC gamer
>post pics
>you dont play the games I like!

You faggot corporate shills are desperate.

Yes? Uplay and origin and Bethesda are all PUBLISHER exclusive launchers not the same as steam and gog.

>Only alternatives are publisher exclusive stores. That isnt very comparable to what steam is.
But Epic's only hook is just having exclusives that are only temporary and have nothing to do with them, removing them just leaves you with a glorified Fortnite launcher

I wish Indie devs would fuck off, all they every do is shill.

>I honestly don't see how it's scummy.
the covenant between developers and consumers is always, "make a good game, and we will buy it, assuring your profit", but now developers make games for financial incentives for entities that are not interested in having the game be good or even sell, they just want it as digital ammunition in a war that does not serve the consumer in any way and is waged in a way whose only outcome can be to replace one supposed monopoly with another, quite real one, if you observe epics behavior. epic does not buy games because it wants them to be able to be bought on their store, it pays so that people are not able to buy them anywhere else, and that is reducing competition, not furthering it.

its like a boxer poisoning his opponent before the fight, instead of actually defeating him, he wins in the end, but the means to get there are whats scummy, and gollop is partaking in it, and he knows that it is scummy.
of course he does so out of financial concerns for his company and emplyees, but you either operate on the principle of freelancing and can be proud of that, or you sell your soul to publishers who think of your game as a weapon and get the blame for it.

>UHH LE INSECTS BOTNETS LMAO!!! XDDDD
Everytime. Can we have an actual argument on why Epic is bad?

>monopolizing games
>said the Valve drone who has his balls in Valve's vice since a thousand or more dollars worth of licenses are forever bound to his Steam account
Keep crying faggot.
>proven
I'd love to see some of that proof then, Valve drone.

Epic isnt a publisher store. that isnt the same thing. Epic store has games from all sorts of devs just like steam does. You can't compare Uplay to steam, it isnt an alternative for anything but ubisoft titles.

>valve havent made a good game in years
really not relevant whether you make games when you have a store that give people games for low prices anyway. how is any of that even an argument when it is about stores? epic made fortnite, which is a blight upon gaming, how it turns children into mentally deranged idiots. making games seems actually not that good for a store.
>and dont give a fuck about their customers
yet their platform is one of the most consumer friendly there is.
