3 years ago, retard

Wasn't a sequel faggot

>make an asian character
>make her skins white
Why is this allowed?

it's not. you mustn't be white if you think her skin is white.

People as dumb as you should unironically be euthanized.

dice is beyond cucked now anyway, it would be shit, just be grateful it only got a forgettable reboot so it can stay almost perfect

Reminder that Catalyst was entirely DICE's fault, EA gave the greenlight for a direct sequel, but DICE scrapped it because it was too "familiar"

>Söderlund describes one of the more impressive pitches for a potential sequel that he sat in on.
>This one was far enough along to actually have a rendered, playable demo, the kind of thing that could easily have served as the announcement of the game.
>It was a nighttime scene, featuring Faith running through the city under the cover of dark, blazing along with all the speed and grace that fans of the original loved, taking out armed guards and never slowing down.
>It was cool, slick, action-packed; it was everything EA could have asked for in a follow-up.
>For Söderlund, though, it was just too familiar.
>"We were kind of going down the same path," Söderlund says. "It would have been a better game, and we would have done more, but would have been more of the same."
>Söderlund didn’t want more of the same, because he felt like that approach to a sequel couldn’t address the problems DICE ran into with the first game. Moreover, just pumping out a minimal improvement over the original wasn’t true to the roots of that game, nor the developer’s creative ambitions, he says.

I still loathe EA, but it's been fascinating how several of the higher profile 'EA ruins everything' stories of the past few years have turned out to be the dev themselves fucking themselves over.

Catalyst was a Re-imagined Prequel Soft and Hard Reboot Reboot, of a one game series
Everything but a sequel

God I'm glad Söderlund is fucking gone. MAYBE if we are really lucky Dice will start making good games again

Unless DICE relocates from Sweden to Japan, it's not going to happen.

Sweden is still the place that made the great games of the past, and it wasn't that long ago. Söderström was a cancerous yes-man and bootlicker that made the company worse. With any luck his leaving will breathe fresh air into the company, because I guarantee you most of the devs are still there. Swedish labour laws are generous and firing devs are not as easy as in America. They have the talent, they just need free reigns again.

>we will never get a Jap ripoff of Mirror's Edge with better melee combat
fucking why, it seems like it would be easy to make more of this type of game

>Japan DICE
Here's your faith bro.

Going by that excerpt it seems more like it was Söderland's fault rather than DICE. He was a chief design officer, ergo his call was final in regards to design choices. Essentially, it means we didn't got a proper sequel because Söderland thought it "was more of the same". He's the same guy who thought that the flying mechanic in Anthem was a major selling point.

Kawaii.

Gross, here's a better weeb Faith

Looks better to me. Less chinky eyes make her cuter.

Why does she look Korean in the first game but Filipino in the second?

Piss off. The whole physical appeal of Asian women are the exotic chinky eyes. The chinkyer, the better I say.

Ahahah

The only ones who have chinky eyes are rat chinamen
japanese don't have eyes as chinky like that
korea has other shape also

>muh asian women

someone is in for a rude awakening

The absolute fucking state of reddit.

The rest of the article states that the ME2 project was taken over by bored battlefield devs who just wanted to make the game BIGGER and nothing else. No one from the original team worked on Catalyst

Have sex.

The right is "too cute". The left is an unflattering angle. She looks better from the front in the original 2007 trailer.

>korea has other shape also
Korea also has an unhealthy obsession with plastic surgery.

>The rest of the article states that the ME2 project was taken over by bored battlefield devs who just wanted to make the game BIGGER and nothing else. No one from the original team worked on Catalyst
I will never for the life of me understand why publishers think its clever to allocate crew and staff to a project on an IP they didn't originally work on to begin with. It often doesn't go well.

Don't know about the second game, but first Mirror's Edge had an absolutely stellar soundtrack, Goddamn.

Fuck now I want a Ninja Burger parkour food delivery game.

>release ME
>it's good
>duh hurr wtf they liked ME because it had a girl lead, girls are strong, and feminism rules
>makes Catalyst
>duh hurr wtf they didn't like Catalyst because sexist
>a few months pass
>they literally forget they even made Catalyst, simply taking the money and moving on leaving the series forever behind
Catalyst is unironically when gaming died. Every AAA game since then has been absolute SJW dogshit.

They did and they changed her race to mexican for some reason.

Everyone says that Catalyst's ost was great, but to me it sounds way more generic and boring compared to the first game's
Just compare this:

Americans love the face of people from Korean Peninsula since long ago. Well It's oriental beauty.

>No one from the original team worked on Catalyst
That explains a lot.

>tfw we will never get to see what the original vision for ME would have been like with multiple runner crews

Has there been a project that man was involved in major role in the last few years that didn't end up completely lackluster?

I love how the guys profile pic is shopped too geg

>watch JAV
>girl's skin is completely white
>guy's skin is like a muzzie

Babbys first racebait. Give it a few more attempts and you'll be shitposting about Tifa being asian.

The Catalyst song sounds like the artist was trying to do too many things at once, including references to established genres and styles. The ME song is all over the place as well, but its many seperate elements blend better together to form a whole and thus a distinct style of its own.

God, they fucked with the the art design. Everything looks so tacky in Catalyst. Environments look like there isn't a single bit of concrete, like it's entirely made of plastic or glass because 'it's de fjuter' (Glass City...I geddit). KSec guards look like fucking power rangers. Especially the ones playing tag with you are ridiculous, hardly a threat compared to the anti-runners from ME1.

Is Mirror's Edge the perfect example of non-forced diversity?

>the shard
my first cum to music

I'm actually playing the game these days. It's aged very well. I bought it a long time ago, but didn't really bother to unlock all the trophies. I rushed through it and didn't invest much thought into the gameplay at the time because the controls seemed complicated back then. Looking back that wasn't a good call. I recently picked it up again after 10 years when I spotted it my stack, and figured, hey, why not. I haven't had this much fun in a while. I almost forgot what skill-based gaming felt like. The gameplay is really satisfying and the visual design aesthetic holds up really well. It's also future-proof in that sense that it doesn't feature an multiplayer component which would've likely been offline.

Maybe. I'd say the original Lara Croft is also another good example. I don't care about the political drivel that's being hamfisted into games these days. Mirror's edge manages to be some story about a female parkour runner, and that's it.

Forgot to add that it deserves a proper sequel.

t. muttoid

Mirror's Edge was fucking kino and deserved a better followup than what we got.

Swedes really are trash.

Yeah, I finished it half a dozen times over the years. It's at its absolute best when it just does what it sets out be but nose dives whenever forced combat comes up. The story really makes me wonder how many times it was hacked apart and sewn back together.

She looks like a Cambodian bar slut in catalyst

>forced combat
There are literally only two sections where you have to fight, the rooftop AC swat fight, and the Celeste fight. Every other "combat" section can be skipped entirely

Attached: 1532433687899.webm (800x450, 2.97M)

>the rooftop AC swat fight
can be skipped too if you're pretty good at bullshitting the game

It's a pretty good example, though if it came out in 2018 instead of 2008 I'm sure people would be whining anyway.

i knew catalyst was doomed when i watched a developer video and all they talked about was faith's pants and tattoos. then they reduced faith down to minimal pixel art and circle jerked about that for awhile.

>make a thing
>everybody loves it and wants more
>NO WE MAKE DIFFERENT THING SAME THING BORING
>everybody hates it because it's not the first thing
I hate it when this happens

an open world ME should have made perfect sense. So why didn't it work?

YES but also
muh dick

No it wouldn't have, ME1's strongest suit was tightly crafted, well paced level design, which is impossible in an open-world. It's like trying to make an open-world Sonic game.

An immersive sim ME could work though

>an open world ME should have made perfect sense
because it doesn't. ME paths are designed to only be traversable in on redirection while an open world must allow for paths in many different directions thus simplifying the level design.
Then you also have the fact that due to the multiple directions you can't really tell the player organically how to proceed to a goal without some kind of marker and onscreen map

Yea Forums wouldn't know "non-forced" diversity if it appropriated their assholes

>immersive sim ME
>Multiple routes to next objective
>Fastest route requires precission and skill to pull off
>Not as fast but still challenging route
>Least difficult route is also longest
>Every route has dynamic obstacles that can be avoid and even used to gain speed if timed just right

Is this just another case of DICE going full "We don't know why BC2 is fun"?

>Faith will never wrap her leg around your neck
why even live

>Faith will never wrap her leg around your neck

Attached: I'M SO FUCKING LONELY AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.jpg (1024x669, 52K)

That's one fucking cheeky animation if I've ever seen one.
>Faith slams blue to the ground with her leg
>blue grabs her thigh

She's not Asian, she's mixed-blood.
