So I'm in the middle of chapter 3 of Xenoblade Chronicles 2. I just got a 5 star Blade for Rex, Godfrey. Is it possible to make Rex a viable tank in this game? Or are the characters that were designed to be tanks always going to be better?

Also, is it possible to make Poppi any other role effectively? Like can she even be an attacker well?

Rex can be a tank, but not in the way you think. He makes for an excellent evade tank with mythra's team wide agility modifier plus agility items. Godfrey sucks btw

but Godfrey looks cool

>giving Rex any blades
Nigga what the fuck are you doing?

I'm playing a game for the first time.

Then stop giving Rex any blades.

Why?

Godfrey is for mercenary missions not for actual combat.

He already has the best one

He unlocks the use any blade perk later in the game.

Well alright.

I got Dagas as well on Nia who I think is pretty cool.

Give him some generics on top of the plot-mandated ones if you really need to, but after a certain point, Rex won't need to worry about unlocking blades.

Beyond that, Pyra/Mythra and the ones the game demands Rex unlocks and use are literally all he'll need.
Tora and Morag are better at tanking, Morag is simpler to use if you don't want to deal with Tiger Tiger autism.

Should I be trying to get new blades for all characters or is it alright to just stick with the default one for each?

'Don't give Rex any blades at all' is and always has been utterly shit advice for anyone who actually wants to use him in their party.

Is Morag like Dunban? He was my favorite in XC1.

Guess I'll save my cores then. I just like rolling the gacha.

You're going to want your party members able to hit multiple elements and regardless you'll want a lot of blades in stock to do skill checks and run merc groups even if you're not taking them into battle. So roll that gacha.

Morag is basically a dodge tank like Dunban, yes.

Don't listen to these idiots who say you should roll cores for Rex, there are parts in the game having more blades on Rex are really helpful.

Yeah I've already used a lot on him. I got a 2* dog that has really fast auto attacks, healing arts, and a healing special which has been useful.

agree, people always overemphasize endgame but that's just because it's freshest in mind + they played a lot more of the postgame than most people ever will

Why would want to make Rex a tank when Poppy alpha is the best tank in the game ?

>playing XC2 for first time
>early on, just started being to unlock blades
>well I got a lot of these rare cores
>fuck it let's see what happens
>roll on Rex
>get fucking Kos-Mos

i like playing tanks and i dont want to be a nopon

>2*
Wholly inferior to Rare blades and 3* and 4* commons. Also the cats are always ring blades so they'll all have fast attacks and healing artes. You need to look at he affinity chart to see what other abilities they give you, but a 2* blade will have a lot less nodes, thus be inferior to 3* and 4* ones.

I mean obviously. But I like him, he's been useful early on since Nia has Dagas.

You'll want Nia to be your healer since twin riings for female drivers have a dedicated healing ate and one that creates potions. And just as a important, she can cause break.

Sure, but it's fun.

how the fuck do I deal with carlos instakilling me with white wave in the reinventing the gogol challenge fight? do I NEED to make sure I have a lv 4 special/chain attack ready at all times to dodge it, or am I missing something?

Who's carlos?

Are you going to make a thread for every fucking step of the game you go through?

Yes

Hi Doug

>trying to give the game another shot
>the retarded waifus continue to give me a headache, the story takes forever to get going, and exploring the world is beyond boring

I just don't get the concept of open world RPGs. Personally the Witcher pulled this off much better. At least there I didn't have some doe-eyed anime waifu shoved in my face 24/7.

Witcher is even worse: You have glowing red objects shoved in your face instead. Witcher Senses is one of the worst mechanics ever put in a videogame. I made it through Velen then dropped that snorefest.
