01 and 02 are pretty dated nowadays and aren't much as far as plot goes but you should watch it if you want to watch Tri.
Tamers is generally accepted as the top tier of Digimon series.
Frontier is the humans turning into Digimon one that's pretty divisive.
Savers is fucking extreme just because the protag actually punches the shit out of Digimon.
Xros Wars is basically Gurren Lagann Digimon edition until you get to the third season which is shit.
Then you have Appmon which was an okay concept but doesn't feel like Digimon.

All in all I'd say do this

But make sure to watch Adventures abd Tamers at the very least since those are the absolute essentials.
Adventures has 2 movies that take place before and after the series so make sure to watch those before and after watching the series.

I say skip the movie because the pacing and plot is wack for both sub parts, and the second sub part is very lame compared to the first part, even though on it's own the second part would have made a good ova.

Just, it's not worth it. Just enjoy Adventures (only the first series!) and let it be.

Yes, in fact that's the reason why a lot of people say skip 3. It feels tacked on and is nothing more than a monster of the day series until the last five episodes or so.

Our war game is canon too and it is by far the best digimon movie.

Hackers memory is basically lion king 1.5.
You play as some random background character who has part of a more personal story within the main group.
You mostly do your own thing while the main characters of cyber sleuth save the day.

Regardless the story for both games is absolutely worthless even then you don't need to know the first anyway given outside of the last few cutscenes the only connection is in a few cameos and this is coming from someone who platinumed both.

Our War Game is kind of in a strage place because it contradicts the Ryo games.

user, tag tamers is literally the whole reason 02 and the Dark Spore plot happens on top of that they lead into Ryo's appearance in Tamers. Whether you like it or not it holds more relevance.

Omegamon is way more relevant than some shitty wonderswan game.
Hell they barely aknowledge 02 in later sequals while Omegamon always gets referenced.

I don't think he's trying to say that Omegamon isn't relevant in the eyes of the public but rather that two whole Digimon series can't happen without the Ryo games happening.

DMW3 is full of backtracking. "Fast Travel" methods that slow you down(especially digmon) and the map of the second half of the game is a copy-paste of the first.

The game isnt unplayable but I don't think DMW3 qualifies as good.
