The worst part is, that's not the worst thing I've seen when it comes to waifu bait, that goes to Bravely Second, see in that game Edea, taking over as ruler since she crippled her father in the first game has a side plot where she has to make a bunch of tough decisions such as deciding to allocate funds to an orphanage or to the a study that could save lives in the future, if you chose the kids you're treated to a scene of the decades of research going to waste because they ahve to destroy the data so enemies can't use it for evil deeds and if you choose the reasearch you get treated to a scene of the kids basically being in the wind with nobody to care about them. The japanese fans complained choices like these were "too sad" so by the western release they changed these and more to have happier endings despite what Edea chooses so she won't have to feel the strain a leader who makes tough decisions would normally feel because everything works out.
