I hate how in Persona 5, the story writers expected me to feel bad for this guy and forgive him
>Murdered a bunch of innocent people directly or indirectly
>Is an asshole for no reason
>M-muh daddy issues
I hate how in Persona 5, the story writers expected me to feel bad for this guy and forgive him
That's every anime plot ever though, what did you expect
>could've had a deranged lawfag
>could've had a good zenigata character
>could've had a nice forced partnership post betrayal
Instead we get this shit. I'm mad.
>forgive him
You needn't
They didn't either
I know this argument has been going on since the game came out, but your imagined scene of everyone sucking his cock never happened.
It was merely an explanation, you could feel sympathy for how he turned out like this, but there was no need or demand to forgive him.
You can safely ignore and keep insisting it though, it's not like you made this thread for any other reason.
The twist was shit. They should have played his character straight. His initial criticisms of the Phantom Thieves were correct, and they're swept under the rug because "he's evil so who cares lol".
>mind rape people into submitting to your will
>pretend to be the good guys
>never have to confront the moral consequences of your actions
For an SMT game they really shit the fucking bed.
He was such a huge red-herring that, if I hadn't known before playing, I would have thought it couldn't possibly be him because that would be too obvious.
Probably would have suspected Haru.
>mind rape people into submitting to your will
>implying the PT are not morally right for doing this
fuck off son of man
I don't feel bad for him at all, but the bits of his Persona being part of a lost childhood, plus when it's revealed his dad thinks of him as just a tool was pretty good
>His initial criticisms of the Phantom Thieves were correct
True but when he’s doing the exact same things, on top of even more heinous crimes, it’s easy to see why his claims are dismissed since he’s a damn hypocrite. Now had those criticisms come from someone else, then it might’ve been harder sweep them under the rug.
They are not, people don't change on the real world suddenly, the message of the game itself is shit.
>denies you
Please make Loki playable in P5R and make Akechi have a redemption arc and playable character after his "death". I really felt bad for him.
They didn't expect that, all that happened is the characters felt sorry for him which isnt such a hard concept to get around in this era of analyzing fictional stories. People feel bad for villains and feel sympathy for villain character all the time, no reason why characters in universe can't be the same
There's also a pretty clear distinction between feeling bad for someone and forgiving them, which is not what they did. From the start of the story they had the option of being able to just kill or mentally destroy people like Kamoshida and Ann almost did it, but the point was they used the meta verse as a means to reform individual people instead of just getting rid of them. All you are really mad at is you didn't get your cathartic "FUCK YOU AKECHI" moment in the game, which might have actually come up if they confronted Akechi and fought him before the whole Sae arc. People who they did not feel sorry for but still never forgave were people who were in full control of their crimes and if they fought Akechi when he was just some lone wildcard villain, they might have confronted him in a different way but it was unnecessary especially with him being that fucked up
Don't think about it to hard, the story is garbage. Its everything else thats good.
they not but the people they fuck over are dicks anyway so, whatever.
Game does not redeem him, he dies to atone for his sins as there's no other forgiveness possible.
>How can I get back at my asshole dad?
>I know, I'll help him kill a ton of people!
That's called tu quoque.
Watch how he's still going to get milked harder than Adachi, even with his death
Adachi was better though
watch him magically survive when P5R releases
Adachi’s not a cute boy though.
That's part of the milking
Nah YOU'RE the one who's a revisionist. Just rewatch the scene after they beat him. The phantom thieves one by one, all compliment him for way too long (e.g. Haru going "I don't forgive you but you're really smart and awesome lol") and sad music plays. This heel turn went way too fast. Leave, you deluded fool
About to play this for the first time. Dub or sub?
kys
hes gonna get milked alright
>For an SMT Game
It's a good thing Persona and SMT have been two different beasts for a long time then isn't it user
They tried to make magic happen twice with an Adachi 2.0 but it fell completely flat. He should've just stayed the L to Joker's Light.
the dub is passable, pronunciation of anything actually japanese is shit but i doubt you'd care if you're asking
wtf why did they forgive akechi bros
>That's every anime plot ever though
Its not, watch more anime. Also not an excuse for trash writing, continue eating shit.
Yeah and then right after that, she goes on and compliments him as if she actually does and would forgive him if Akechi actually survived. Anne asks him if he wants to join the party, Futaba and Makoto compliment him even more.
Rewatch the scene yourself dipshit. What they collectively said was "Wow you could've been really cool, and it sucks society treated you shitty, but it's your own fault for being an asshole. But you can still face your crimes though, want to start by helping us take down Shido?" At no time did anyone actually forgive him, and they all pretty much stopped thinking about him completely after Shido's confession. Even when Lavenza says "By the way, Akechi was literally chosen by a god to be Joker's rival" none of them batted an eye.
It really is in everything. Watch more anime and you'll start to get tired of the same tropes.
Isn't it only natural to forgive someone for being an asshole if they went through a lot of traumatic experiences? My dad used to scream at us a lot and could be verbally abusive, but we cut him a break because he was abused as a child and fought in Vietnam.
So I guess when someone asked, he said that it ain't me
They didn't even forgive him, they told him to start atoning for his actions and make himself a better person. It's the same thing they said to literally fucking everyone, from the palace owners to the Mementos targets, every single person they defeat they say the same thing: you're a shitty person now and you've done shitty thing, atone for what you've done and stop being shitty.
akechi is easily the worst traitor of the smt/persona franchise
not only you know he's the traitor simply by awnsering to mona (and you'll know it if you have half a brain) and how fast he was shoved in the team with mary sue elements
It's your fault for expecting anything from nuAtlus writing
Kek
They really should've played him straight as a detective. I think it would've been a lot better if Shido kills him in cold blood for interfering with his business.
It would have been better if Akechi actually encountered the Phantom Thieves in his villainous persona over the course of the game, with the Phantom Thieves having no idea who he is, as a regular rival. His mask covers enough of his face so just give him a voice changer.
He's meant to be so obviously the traitor though, to sell the 4D chess Joker and friends pull after Akechi reveals himself. Would've worked better if it was revealed that they knew he was a traitor instead of Joker can't remember this one specific conversation but he can tell you which of his 3 part time jobs he worked every day
Then he would've run into the same problem as Strega where he's built up to be this asshole rival but every time you actually battle him you kick his ass so much that he's not a serious threat unless they give him cutscene power like Revolver Jesus' magical cutscene bullets.
So.. what is persona 5's true message?
I know persona 3's is memento mori / remember you will die / death and Persona 4 is all about the truth / facing your true self. I just feel like the "you are slave. want emancipation?" from the teaser trailer is so loose?
Did anyone in your party feel sorry for him? No.
He was a messed up kid who happened to make a good decision in the end, at least better than the ones that lead him up to that point. You aren't supposed to feel bad for him.
Not at all. First time, he just sics some Shadows on you and goes about his business. Second time, he doesn't go all out, using a lesser Persona, and leaves soon after. Final time is when he brings out Loki and it's a forced 1vs1 fight between him and Joker.
So what kept the phantom thieves from gunning the absolute shit out of cognition akechi again
>So.. what is persona 5's true message?
Rehabilitation. Rebellion is a big part of it, the whole "want emancipation" thing along with it, but the core message is that everyone as well as society as a whole can be rehabilitated to become better, you just need to work for it instead of being a conforming slave of society like the Mementos shadows.
>he's meant to be obvious
Ah yes
Surely this is why they sent 30 minutes explaining in painfull detail every aspect of the twist
Cmon they honestly thought they were being clever about it
It was Cognitive Akechi's turn to attack
Adding on to this. I don't know why they've decided to make akechi the way he is when adachi was in the previous game. I'm not so sure if akechi being the traitor was "implied" to be the obvious twist despite being the obvious twist.
Adults are fucking SHIT.
No? People need to be accountable for their own actions even if they got wronged. Following your philosophy just opens up people to abusing a victim mentality to getaway with shit.
"Yes I, a woman, have ruined a man's life by falsely accusing him of rape. But I was bullied as a kid so it's ok!"
Exactly why it would've been better if the player knew he was the traitor from the get go and all those flashbacks explaining it would be played out when they happened instead of regurgitating it all afterwards. I said he was meant to be obvious, not that they implemented it well
Futabass
Good luck doing this in Japan of all places
>Go on without me everyone, I'll hold off the shadows!
>Dies a "heroic" death, and everyone expects me to feel bad
That's not how you redeem a character. It's generic and he's awful.
Can we talk about how jarring it was going from Shido to the final boss? I get it was suppose to be disappointing but it left a bad taste in my mouth.
>Could've had a good zenigata character
I will never not be mad. They tried to make Sae this but it failed miserably.
They didn't explain Goro being the traitor in 30 minutes. That part was "yeah we heard him talk about pancakes when only Morgana did, so Futaba wiretapped his phone and confirmed it." What they explained was how they were able to fake Joker's death. Besides, Akechi wasn't the real twist. Igor was.
You know Persona 5 is a Japanese game made by Japanese developers from Japan and intended for a primarily Japanese audience to the degree that they legitimately thought it wouldn't resonate with westerners, right?
When I first played the game I thought Haru would betray the party and be a bad guy because she blamed the party for her dad's death but atlus has no balls as usual and made the last party member you get be the bad guy, plus his social link was automatic which sucked
play original language. its an all star cast and, after all, its a japanese game that takes place in japan
What they should've done was fake-out the Akechi twist by making him not the Black Mask, but then fake-out the fake-out by revealing the Akechi was working with the Conspiracy anyway while Black Mask was trying to work against the Conspiracy.
Not surprising considering in Japan he's flatout THE most popular character in the entire Persona franchise that isn't a main protagonist
This, ya'll are acting like akechi was the real story when it was really larenza and igor
>Only character who isn't objectively scum to actually have valid criticisms of the PT's methods
>"Lol jk he's actually a mass-murdering psycho with daddy issues"
Fujos's opinions don't count
>valid criticisms of the PT's methods
He doesn't though. All he says is they're bad without extrapolating or presenting a viable alternative. He's like guys on Yea Forums saying "this game is shit" and then when you ask why they go "why are you defending this shit game with your trash taste, kill yourself." Plus the PTs themselves question their own methods, that's why they pick targets by consensus and also how they get duped re:Okumura because they lost sight of their real goals.
How is Japan's taste always this consistently bad
Introducing philosophy and moral questions about forcibly changing a person's soul would be too intelligent for most Persona 5 players. Maybe when Persona first started, but it is too mainstream these days.
we live in a society
>be in conflict with thieves when he gets metaverse abilities
>realise dad is a PoS
>try to bust him
>die but end up helping before/after death in some way
>does all that shit
>is still going to be resurrected and redeemed by the power of fujos in the rerelease
Women
Meanwhile, the fucking goody two-shoes Investigation Team was ready to kill a (misguided, but ultimately innocent) man for the trouble he caused.
How would you have written Akechi?
Hard mode:He still has to be a bossfight and a rival wildcard user to joker
Is it as bad or worse than humanity/neutral fuck yeah?
Obviously
Hey, could you guys watch these for me? I need to go do something for a bit; be right back.
I was hoping more for his end goal being to stop his dad.
>Knows his dad is a pos
>Doing a long haul plan of trying to stop his dad
>Phantom thieves keep fucking brainwashing the people he need to get info from.
>Finally meets him in the final dungeon
>Dad pulls a 180 and starts crying over how he could hurt his own flesh and blood
>JK shido shoots akechi
Rate?
Show his backstory instead of that dumb engine room scene
>How would you have written Akechi?
The exact same as he was. It's not Atlus' fault that some people are mentally retarded.
They could have done some cool shit by going into it.
Like at what point is it justifiable to intervene and tamper with someone's mind?
When they are a murderer? mass murderer? Just abusive?
Who decides what is and isn't just?
Instead we get
LOL SHITTY ADULTS WE'RE THE PHANTOM THIEVES
I'm fine with how he is, his meltdown was fucking hilarious. I expected him to backstab everyone from the moment he walked on screen, I just didn't know what the reasoning would end up being. As much as people whine about redundant dialogue though, I kinda wish they just literally told him to fuck off, so this argument wouldn't come up once every 2 days or so.
Honestly, making him a straight-laced detective would have been fucking boring.
Keep with his original job.
He is a detective who only wants Justice.
He sees the phantom thieves as undermining true justice by forcing changes of heart rather than the system working as it should to prosecute wrongdoers.
So is the Metaverse science or magic?
Persona 5's story was less emotionally winning than FF15, and that's saying something.
Give him more interactions with the rest of the PT
>Dad pulls a 180 and starts crying over how he could hurt his own flesh and blood
>JK shido shoots akechi
Isn't that basically what Okumura was going to do?
playing trails of cold steel recently gave me a new appreciation for the akechi twist. at least akechi wasn't as forced as that game's twist was, and the cast's reaction wasn't as unrealistic.
Hes white
Divine magic with a set of rules that can be manipulated thus appearing as a science.
>Honestly, making him a straight-laced detective would have been fucking boring.
Could've made him batshit with his justice
The only difference between science and magic is understanding.
I felt the ending was pretty emotional with everyone trying to get you out of jail. Your return was kinda lackluster though. It gets overshadowed by the shitty cat pretty quickly.
Honestly dub
There's stuff that just isn't subbed like battle callouts and people talking in the background of cities
Meant to reply toWhat's cold steel's issue
You're gonna be left with an insane dude anyway, might as well make him an irredeemable fuckhead, rather than highschool Punisher.
So you want him to be your average lawfag?
How would his plotline go?
Yeah people get upset about Akechi not doing anything really unique or cool
But the stuff he does do is reasonably well written and accomplished imo, he's fishy as fuck from the start, which is better than trying to make a unique character that falls flat or actually trick the player and fail horribly
Exactly. The Phantom Thieves are doing something only they can because of their abilities. Just like SEES and the Investigation Team. That doesn't invalidate the narrative.
Stuff like the team bonding, some of the SLs, some of the awakenings, the reveal of Mementos Depths, the scene where they get erased, breaking the team out, that triumphant ascent toward Yaldy, Satanael, or even just the final scene of driving off together were all pretty great. FFXV had some good moment too, but I felt more attached to the PT.
>I have no intention of forgiving you
>WTF WHY DID THEY FORGIVE HIM
Retard alert
Yeah. Overall I honestly say this game had higher highs than P3 and P4 but the others were a lot more consistent.
Btw is the anime worth watching?
The main reason why Akechi gets so much disappointment from people is for the exact same reason why he's the best character in the game. The writers intentionally set him up to be the epic rival with the edgy backstory with a heartfelt redemption and then shit all over it for the purpose of the game's themes. The game is all about taking people who are in positions of prestige, where people automatically think they're great effective people simply because of their position, and portraying them as shitty people who don't deserve to be in those positions and are abusing society's trust in them. Akechi is the same thing on a meta level, being put in the "dark rival" position, so that everyone puts their expectations of that character type onto him, then pulls the carpet out and shows him to be a shitter whose accomplishments are based on lies and he doesn't really deserve the rival spot.
no
I don't think I would have written him any differently, but I would have put in a substantial section in the game where you're playing cat-and-mouse with him.
See here. Have constant boss fights in the middle of the game and make them so the phantom thieves know who the other dude is and he knows who the phantom thieves are. Have a some sort of L and Light dynamic.
Like the Dante segment in nocturne?
youtube.com
I liked SEES significantly more than IT (they were a bit too kooky even for me, although Kanji and Naoto are highlights), but they all had highs and lows. While all 3 are good, I'd say my least favorite is 4, followed by 3 and 5. I think 3 is probably the most consistent of them, but there was just something about the PT that drew me in more than them.
>Btw is the anime worth watching?
Absolutely fucking not.
Everyone felt that way. Adachi barely killed three horrible women and flat out admits to heavy shit like depression, cynicism and loneliness and he's treated as the worst scum ever.
Akechi actually kills people ruthlessly in utter cowardice untold amounts of time behind the scenes FOR OVER THREE YEARS to pave the way for Shido's political success and the main party tries to redeem him.
>Have constant boss fights in the middle of the game
You'd very quickly end up turning him into either an annoying nuisance, or Team Rocket.
>then pulls the carpet out and shows him to be a shitter whose accomplishments are based on lies and he doesn't really deserve the rival spot.
I actually really liked that he barely even gets mentioned afterwards. For all his fervent attempts at being recognized and loved, he chose the most shallow and dishonest way of doing it, and being forgotten was his reward for it. It's cruel, but it fits.
Well, I'd hope they wouldn't abuse it. Strega wasn't annoying to face.
Basically copypaste the first arc of Death Note but Shido kills him, only to have Akechi pull the switcheroo with his cognitive version and come to Joker's aid at the very end.
i'll try to explain it as vaguely as possible to avoid spoilers.
cold steel has a party member suddenly, at the very end of the game, get revealed as a traitor and an evil mastermind. this requires some serious asspulls to explain away scenes from earlier in the game.
when the rest of the cast finally confronts the traitor, they start sucking the traitor's dick even though the traitor tried to get them and several of their friends/allies killed. if that wasn't bad enough, the game ends on a cliffhanger for the sequel.
it's shockingly bad from a series that is known for good writing and a game that was otherwise enjoyable.
True, but at the same time Strega were a complete fucking joke.
two women actually.
>three horrible women
t.Adachi
One's a teenager who the other group of teenagers who have been fucked by authority figures recognize that his life was fucked from the start and railroaded him into what he's doing now. They can understand how he got to that point, and can recognize that not only could he potentiall be pulled back, they really kinda have to because otherwise he's much too dangerous to be left to his own devices.
The other is a gigantic manchild, who while dealing with nasty mental shit still decided to blame the world for everything that does not go his way and adopt a worldview where literally everything bad is not his fault, so because he has power, he's totally allowed to abuse it.
The PT does that for everyone though. Literally every palace owner and Mementos boss gets the "atone for your crimes and stop being a shitty person" treatment. Game is about rehabilitation, not killing people.
This but keep akechi dead.
>You'd very quickly end up turning him into either an annoying nuisance, or Team Rocket.
could go action game rival rule of 3, or have him just leave maddened shadows to fight
He did well on a small poll of a few thousand people, they do not represent the Persona fanbase
That doesn't stop lots of people claiming P5 would have been better if they just straight-up killed people.
does P5 have the most misguised fanbase of all time?
Those people are idiots who missed the point of the game.
Rewatching some of the cutscenes, some of the scenes are pretty emotional. It's a bit annoying that they went through some retarded decisions and directions during the late game.
What causes the game to have really good writing at some points and terrible at others?
I want to replay this game but the ending is definitely turning me off from it. I really didn't like what they did with Akechi, Shido, and the collective bullshit that happened at the end.
A few thousand people is more than enough you brain dead fag. Take an statistics class. Jesus Christ.
Replay it on hard using the japanese dub
I played it on hard and my original playthrough was a mix of Japanese and English dub. I prefer the English dub to be honest.
Wait for royal version.l and whatever new shit it adds into the endgame.
I mean, let's be honest, Adachi pushed people into the TV World knowing full well what awaited on the other side.
And while Adachi had some correct points (such as that the IT had zero idea of what a real problem was), it doesn't mean that he was in the right either - Adachi was a pathetic loser who pushed away things that could've made him into a better person, like friends.
Women love psychos.
Have lawfag Akechi have a mental breakdown by learning that lawfagging doesn't work and only Phantom Thief metaverse shenanigans are the true form of justice.
What's even dumber is how easily he caught Joker and how quickly he got the entire city's police force there
How the fuck could Futaba not sense 200+ cops until after they turned their lights on?
It's going to be a while though. I hope it's not another Marie shit. I honestly didn't enjoy Marie's addition to P4G. I just kept rolling my eyes whenever they did another one of her gay poems.
Nice. Nothing beats trying to scrap through the game on hard and still make time for social links. New game+ kind of ruins it.
I've been trying to get used to the Japanese dub to prepare for PQ2. I like the English better too
getting caught was literally part of his plan
So what went wrong with the anime?
It was overwhelmingly filled with fujos. If they had an in game poll that everyone who played the game took then he would not be at the top.
She did
The game didn't come out all that long ago either.
It has been what 2 years, 3 yearsmax if you played the nip version since you last played it?
There is no reason to be in such a rush to replay a 100+ hour RPG that came out pretty recently.
Maybe play pq2 or read the anthology mangas to hokd you over for now if you can't escape your hunger.
Waifushit
I hate how fucking cute you are OP, that's what I fucking hate.
No budget
It's just I've been seeing these threads pop up and i've wanted to retouch on some of the story I'm forgetting. It just feels like replaying it there's nothing I can really do differently so I don't really see a point of replaying it.
I don't know though, the anthology manga is a bunch of gag stuff which is fine but I wanna resee the cool parts.
No budget and they completely neutered Joker.
Anyone else felt this way?
Zero budget, some abysmal pacing, Joker has even less personality than in the game which is hard to believe but true
Pretty much the only redeeming things are little Yusuke, Haru and Makoto in some flashbacks, and Alice wrecking Shido's shit in the OVA.
>tfw you manage to do an almost perfect run the first time and only failed to get haru's SL done
>wanna replay it at some time but you know there isn't much you couldn't already improve on
i replayed the others because i missed quite alot of stuff.
>story I'm forgetting
Just forget them.
It will make the royal edition playthrough more enjoyable when you get to it.
It'll be another Marie again, except this time she joins the party and is the only one that matters story wise alongside Joker
Given that Shido was elected Prime Minister and this is a game set in Japan, he's the highest target you can get while still being an actual human. The game set up Mementos extremely early on and it was an important element throughout the game, and all throughout the game they reminded you that a) Mementos is a Palace, and b) there's something lurking in the depths beyond whichever barrier you're currently stuck at. So the existence of a treasure and a shadow that collectively embodies all of human society (like how Nyx Avatar retconned to Erebus, and Izanami did in their respective games) was foreshadowed from very early on. So no, it wasn't jarring at all and completely expected unless for some reason you thought the Mementos subplot was going to go nowhere.
One of the speculations going around is that the new girl is going to be related to Sophia from Gnosticism which will link her to the final boss and easily throw her into the Aeon arcana, but Marie was kind of the same with her link to Izanami.
How else we have be playable in Arena?
>Joker has even less personality than in the game which is hard to believe but true
>p4 anime made Yu swagmaster 2000 by making him do all the weird autistic options with max charisma.
>p5 anime made joker boring as fuck, because they used the safe dialogue options instead of being a cheeky sarcastic asshole.
The p4 anime wasn't all that good and had zero budget as well, but it was still fun in it's own right.
What went so right with that?
I genuinely didn't understand when I found people complaining about this. Every time I finished a palace, I collected the contracts and explored mementos to the next wall. There was always something more, always something deeper and it was clear this was far beyond the scope of Shido.
Not only that, but you even get Lavenza's cry for help if you sleep in the Velvet Room. I thought it was very obvious there was something more than Shido, I just didn't know what exactly.
No he was not, just because he's a "relatable" incel doesn't make him better.
I'm talking about the transition dude.
It felt unsatisfying going from the main big bad to suddenly ULTRA big bad.
I don't get it either, picking the cheeky answers would have been perfect for Joker. Keep him on a low profile in the school, sure, but with confidants and friends, and especially in the Metaverse he should have been lovable cocky bastard. I think the P4 adaptation just went straight for just being entertaining while rushing through other things, while P5 wanted to be serious and failed miserably at actually compressing the series. I mean sure enough, P5 really needed at least another 10 episodes to be satisfying in any way, but this was just an exceedingly poor effort. Even then, it could have been at least stylish, but they somehow had even less budget that P4.
Can't relate, I thought Mementos Depths was peak atmosphere.
Yep. As soon as I saw that gigantic chasm with the red veins coursing down, I was hyped to hell and back.
>DeSu2 didn't bother using autistic bunny options but made him a depressed fuck
What's your thoughts on Door-kun in P3's movies?
>They all got a look at Claude's naked wife
Does this make him a cuck?
The one thing I didn't like and felt didn't fit, was them reusing Rivers in the desert for the Holy grail fight. I love the song but it felt kinda out of place there and it was shortly after the Shido fight where it was utilized perfectly. It was cool for the twins tho.
Adachi was "We live in a society" tier bad. Just because you relate with him doesn't mean it's good.
>playing an Atlus game without enough surface knowledge of Japanese to understand ambient dialog.
Why are you here?
or maybe don't. or maybe just watch the rare good ones. most of which are at least a decade old. that "95% trash" principle applies here
Good God, why can't we ever have a P5 thread without p4 shitters attacking the thread
I barely see them. Don't false flag PLEASE
I thought he was allright.
His characterization made a lot of sense to me.
I liked that he started out not giving a single fuck about anuthing, but due to his encounters with other people and their struggles and their eventual resolve to live life to the fullest he started caring more and more untill he gave the ultimate fuck by sealing Nyx.
His no fuck attitude also caused for some pretty funny gags and I really liked that they actually trird to give Ryoji and Door have some meaningful interaction cobsidering that Ryoji was pharos/death who was sealed inside of him for 10 years.
I felt that was missing in the game since in that he was just that one kid junpei hangs out with lately.
I understand why they made him anxious about the dark hour dissapearing making him lose his place in the worod, but itbfelt a bit redundant since that was Junpei's thing already.
But honestly I thought that was the only good parts of the movie.
Compressing the game into a 2 cour anime barely works as is let alone compressing it into 4 movies.
Persona animes are always at it's weakest when it deals with plot stuff and the p3 movie was pretty much only thar, because of the pacing required for a movie.
All in all he was fine, but it could have worked better if he had actual SoL and SL stuff where his deadpan autism could shine more and everything wasn't so rushed.
Also I didn't like all the robutt pandering, but that might just be me being a salty yukatanfag and aigis being my least favorite p3girl.
This guy looks like a fucking Death Note character, more specifically a guy with Light's hair and skin tone with L's face. I wonder if he created as homage to Death Note.
Considering how fucking popular this guy is mission accomplished.
Honey, I'm home.
I thought the way they handled ken and shinji's relationship was more interesting in the anime.
Having ken not remember shinji was involved in his moms death and having him become really close friends with him assuming a kind of big brother role made things really interesting once his memories came back. I liked the struggle his mixed feelings caused.
You just lack empathy because you're evil yourself OP
Adachi is an overall better twist. They don't try to make Adachi seem like a valuable member of the cast or party, he's just a joke character that shows up for the occasional punchline. Akechi is obviously a villain from the get go and becomes even more obvious when they give him all the holy shit.
Be honest user, you didn't catch the pancake thing did you?
I sort of did.
When he said "cake", I thought "how the fuck did he hear them talking that far away" and "they said fucking pancakes not cake you tard barge"
Oh yeah I totally forgot about that.
The p3 movies had some really good shit, but it's all bogged down by how rushed to hell and back everything is.
Like watching door struggling to get to the rooftop was some real good shit.
I did catch it, but I already got spoiled that he was the traitor.
Is it sad that I did catch it, but that my first reaction was it was a writing slip-up and not intentional?
I honestly didn't. That's why I don't get when people say akechi was "obvious" to be the traitor. I hate how people down play that even though it was a minor twist, it's still a twist.
The box art and the intro trailer spoiled it easily enough.
>spends whole game shitting on the phantom thieves
>ends up joining and then betraying them
>wow there is no way anyone would think that the traitor was him, who could've seen this coming
pretty much these, if you couldn't tell something was up with akechi way before he even joined, then i don't know what to tell you.
I still don't understand this meme of
>game makes me feel thing
>????
>no I don't want to feel that
>dumbass game designers I would never feel that thing
imagine being so small brain you didn't understand the pancake scene right away
I really like that 3's movies and 4 & 5's animes add new scenes for characters though and make them worth watching.
The Shinji & Ken thing, then the Ryoji & MC working at the cafe place was neat to see
Same for stuff in 4 like Yukiko's bird and her and Chie meeting as kids. Then 5 having the Ren and Akechi chess thing.
I wish I could remember more moments that are unique to the animes but I can't right now.
>Spends the whole time being good detective boy that would do know evil
>Ends up being the craziest psychopath you'd ever know.
Yeah fuck you dumb anime poster.
Did you guys just never doubt or have second thoughts about what Akechi's true goals were?
The best part of Persona 3's relatively lowkey popularity is that the only characters that got fellated later on was Aigis and arguably Akihiko.
Funny thing is they offed punmaster almost the same way as pancake boy but guess who's the one who's never coming back?
To be fair it could also be that they got Obito'd as in it was so obvious that Akechi is the traitor that they dismissed him being the traitor for being too obvious.
dude his last name was AKECHI, as in he's apart of the AKECHI family, which is known for BETRAYING Nobunaga Oda in 1582.
you can't tell me the developers of the game made Goro Akechi's last name, Akechi, and had no idea of their own history.
Don't fucking spell check me user. I already see your hands on your keyboard. I have a dumb shit autocorrect enabled on my PC.
Dude I'm not Japanese
this is pretty fair, i could believe a person giving far too much faith in the persona 5 writing team to not go with the obvious, other than that i'm going to be highly surprised if someone didn't suspect akechi.
The worst part of Persona 5 is the igor twist.
It's the biggest fucking middle finger to longtime fans they could possibly give. They have literally every dot necessary to connect to form Nyarly, but instead have it be a literally who character that was a boss in the original Devil Summoner, the final boss of fucking NINE, an EX Boss in Strange Journey, and part of a side quest in IV. That's the entire sum of his appearances prior to Persona 5 (excluding a GBC card game).
Ah yes along with the other sengoku period references in the game like uh umm
Akechi kogoro is also the name of a very famous nip detective character.
I think nipponese associated the name with the detective rather than Akechi Mitsuhide.
>posting on Yea Forums
>playing persona 5
>not being a weeb
who are you?
i wasn't wrong with my guess akechi was the traitor solely because of his name.
>wtf stop trying new things persona! I want old thing!
DID SOMEBODY SAY SENGOKU ERA!??
>i wasn't wrong with my guess akechi was the traitor solely because of his name.
Good job. I'm not saying I didn't suspect it either. But I wasn't 100% sure the whole game and had doubts as to whether he really would be a villain or not
There’s supposedly a lot of parallels between the names of historical figures and those of P5’s cast, I’m a historylet and can’t remember most of them but I saw a list posted somewhere awhile ago
Nyarly wouldn't have fit with the themes of the game.
>REEEE INCEL
Uhh guys I think you have the wrong website. ResetaEra is a few sites down
Guys, rate the arcs.
>best game in the series has very open ended ending begging for followup down the line
>build a plot perfect for resolving that
>nah lets just have it be a literally who
>dude 'god' is the final boss lmao
>new
>this guy in persona 3
>kaiji's transformed persona literally being Nobunaga Oda in Persona 4
>Akechi in Persona 5
i'm fairly sure someone on the team has to be aware of their country's own history.
this i can also believe
so what did give you the benefit of doubt? like, who was your other guess? if it was Haru i'd understand because that could've worked too.
Yusuke was so underrated yet he's still my favourite character.
I'm not liking the fact they're pushing the Demiurge as the new recurring main antagonist of SMT.
He is my husbando and he is perfect
>yfw you realize the lyrics to last surprise are about the gang outplaying aketchi
I mean isn't demiurge just another name or facet of the golden memefaceman?
You guys might hate the story or other aspects of this game.
This was definitely a passion project though. That UI is gorgeous. Hope more games start bringing out more style.
Demiurge has only been a main antagonist in an XBox game that they'd rather everyone ignore, an extra boss in one single DS game, and final boss in a Persona game which doesn't even count. They'll use the antagonists that they want based on if they think they'll fit the plot and themes of the game or not. Nyarly would not have fit 5.
This is a problem in a LOT of Japanese games and anime.
There are so many examples of characters being way too easily forgiven and it always bugs the shit out of me.
What are some games about being unable to forgive?
the bravest post known to man
I remember when his design first got revealed and I thought he would be my least favorite party member. I wasn't ready for how great he ended up being.
Also Kamu Susanoo is one of the coolest Persona's in the series.
Huh?
>that pic
fucking kek
While capital punishment does exist in Japan, they generally don't jerk off about it as much as the redneck hick areas of the US do. Criminals are expected to atone for their crimes and reform themselves to fit society, rather than just waste resources hanging and then being cremated.
Have him not be working for Shido but be committing the shutdowns as his answer to an unjust world where even with good police work and mountains of evidence, the worst criminals still walk free.
He's talking about posting an image with metadata that people can use to trace back to your real name. But don't worry 95% of Yea Forums are newfags that don't know how.
I liked Goemon better.
Also why Susanoo again, isn't there some other trickster nipgod that they could have used for Yusuke?
Yes, but it is female so they probably wanted to keep it a male persona.
>Also Kamu Susanoo is one of the coolest Persona's in the series.
that's what happens when your persona has Susanoo in the name
user what?
Hey remember when everyone thought Nyarly was going to be the bad guy in Ultimax? Good times.
Go back to facebook you retarded normalfaggot.
Susanoo is one of the most well known and multi-faceted gods in the Shinto pantheon. The developers even said they were worried they were overusing him but concluded that they literally could not do a game about famous tricksters and not have Susanoo, it'd be like not having Loki.
Don't count that out. We don't know who Futaba's dad is and only people related to Nyarly's hosts can use Lovecraftian Persona.
I didn't say incel at all, retard. Get some reading comprehension you faggot.
Huh. That is a good point user. Why did futaba get a persona that was different?
I wish we saw more of Loki in 5. That design deserved more screentime.
Do you think they will ever retire igor?
It has bugged me since P5 came out. Yes, her getting Prometheus is a nice little nod to Baofu but Yog-Sothoth would have made so much more sense.
Necronomicon and the overall Egyptian theme of her palace is probably a "wink wink nudge nudge" reference considering they openly stated they were pulling influence from older games, but I doubt it'll be anything more than that.
Maybe they will bring back white mask guy whose name I forgot from 1.
I hope not
the biggest bro of the whole series
So based on this thread, most of us agree Persona 5 didn’t have the most endearing story, the main antagonist wasn’t appealing in many ways and the game didn’t do a great job binding the theme with the events that happen.
Persona 3 plot only gets good during the end. Antagonists are weak.
Persona 4 on the other hand, has a compelling antagonist, the theme is conveyed well through both the characters and the final boss, and the story doesn’t have pacing issues. Can’t we crown Persona 4 Golden as the best game? Let’s be honest.
Phil basically fucked himself, user. Though he deserved it for letting IS happen and P1 happen TWICE.
Imagine being a detective for your own crimes
persona 4 was definitely the most complete, we'll see how that changes with persona 5 the royale.
to be fair, 4 is very similar to 3 in that not much big plot stuff happens till 3/4's of the way in
Golden has Marie and worse VAs for Chie and Teddie. P4 vanilla is still great though
Yog-Sothoth wouldn't have made sense as the starting persona because they were all based on actual human figures, with the ultimate personas being gods or godlike. Necronomicon makes sense in that it's a book used by humans to unlock hidden knowledge, which fits both in comparison to the other starting personas and in fitting her role as nav. They could've used Yog as an ultimate, but then people would be wondering why they never used Prometheus.
It's been over a decade since I played 1 and my memory has gone to shit even forgetting his name. What went wrong exactly? I basically have my memory of him reduced to just thinking how he had a cool cg cutscene and voice that stood out of a dude on a throne with a bitchin mask.
>worse VAs for Chie and Teddie
Objectively false, vanilla's as worse.
Persona 4 has some really terrible individual parts scattered around that sour the thing for me.
>P4niggers
Your game is the worst in the series, the original was rewritten right before release and became a mess of asspulls and Golden is even worse thanks to Marie.
Meant as the Ultimate, my mistake. Should have clarified.
Made a wager with Nyarly over where humanity would eventually end up. Except Nyarly was a cheating bastard and Phil knew the entire time. This led to the SEBEC/Snow Queen incidents and the Masked Circle debacle.
Then the final point stands, Prometheus is simply far more well known than Yog. Plus you could consider it symbolic of Futaba moving beyond being mentally tied down by her mother and the research, becoming her own person for once, that her ultimate is unrelated to anything Lovecraft or Egyptian.
I don't see it, I really enjoyed SMT: Scooby Edition and the little vignettes it spaced things out with. Really nails that "living in a small town" vibe where you and your friends were starving for things to do and got up to bullshit because of that.
I think a big part of what isn't good about Persona is that, unlike SMT which can be morally ambiguous at multiple points, Persona is mostly just THE TRUE POWER OF TEAMWORK and all the real bad guys either are sympathetic or complete fucking despicable people, with no room for any antagonists that are just people similar enough to you that see you as being unable to do the right thing.
>Persona is different from SMT so it's bad
No shit it's different from SMT, if it was the same as SMT then they wouldn't bother making Persona games and would just make more SMT games.
To be fair SMT isn't that morally ambigious.
I mean since strange journey atleast it has been neutralwank.
Law and chaos usually are both just shitholes
I mean more in the case that they realized that making Akechi morally ambiguous wouldn't work, so they instead just decided to make him Adachi 2.0.
I liked the concepts of P5 but yeah, alot of the social links are people that are inherently good but get put into shitty situations. The Sun social link sorta goes against this since while he did get framed for something he didn't do, he still was a corrupt politician for accepting bribes and etc 20 years ago and he only realizes his errors after he gets disgraced and learns from his mistakes. Also he's probably one of the few that go against the typical formula of 'thieves help him and they figure out your identity' as he just figures it out on his own.
SJ:R established that Neutral can be just as bad an ending as Law or Chaos, and the absolute best ending one can get in Redux is the one where you be a lawfag and side with Alex.
Right over your head user.
>implying anything but nu-chaos is the best ending
P3 was trying this formula, it took risks that they no longer take and had an ending with impact because of it. It was the transition from previous Persona aesthics mixing with wish fulfillment.
P4 was an attempt to really polish wish fulfillment. It's really designed as one of the best escapist fantasy.
P5's issues come entirely form the fact that it's meant to be subversive. It's meant to be a rebels wish fulfillment fantasy but it ends up with too contrasting flavors that don't blend. The idea of striking back against and unjust society and the idea of full wish fulfillment high school life. There's never enough bite in P5 and the villains are all so cartoonish that the ability to suspend disbelief falls apart.
Akechi being morally ambiguous doesn't work because he's supposed to be a dark reflection of what a character like the MC would be like if they rejected all social bonds and only fought for themselves. The PTs already do plenty of soulsearching and moralizing over what they're doing at multiple points in the game. Persona as a series is first and foremost about self-discovery, so by nature any major antagonist is going to represent either someone who wants to manipulate the protagonist's self-discovery, someone who represents a warped version of such, or someone who wants to prevent it altogether.
I like P3 but basically retiring all previous elements but the Twin Peaks room and Igor was absolutely stupid. It means the only recurring element is tied to a single character whose already in the firing line because his seiyuu died (5's plot was literally rewritten just to justify Igor having a different VA it's asinine).
Meaning P6 will probably only be persona now in name only unless Philemon finally comes back from being a butterfly.
Why the fuck hasn't Philemon STOPPED being one anyways? You'd think he's want to at least talk to a wildcard since the concept was introduced in 3
I feel like kamoshida and madarame were realistic enough. They are jackasses but they're jackasses you can see in real life. As soon as we got to kaneshiro, okumura,Shido they felt like they were just bad for the sake of getting the plot going.
>Not killing Space Larry
>Game gives you trickster personas
>No Coyote persona
Yeah, I think the biggest disappointment about Akechi is that he could have been an interesting moral counterpoint, or at least a fun Javert type, desperately hunting the Phantom Thieves down in the name of justice no matter the cost.
But he just feels like a diet version of Persona 4's killer, but much less fun because his betrayal was obvious from the start and he's not even properly called out in the end. The worst part is that Futaba and Haru don't even get their own moment to say how his insanity essentially uprooted their whole lives.
He's so fucking cute though
>that entire second half where the dialogue just goes "adults are so dumb and evil urgh" over and over
Is it a case of terrible translation or did the writers actually think think this was good writing when both the developers and their audience consists of adult males in their 20s and 30s?
>But he just feels like a diet version of Persona 4's killer
This was the problem for me. He was just too similar to Adachi.
He was talking about them seriously considering throwing Namatame in the TV.
Yeah adults are dumb is such a bad message
*complains about baby boomers fucking up the world in a different thread*
I love this argument because it represents a complete denial of reality by people who refuse to believe that shitty people exist in real life. Yes, people like Kaneshiro and Okumura and Sae and Shido exist, many of them do, and they often work their ways into important and influential positions in society like being billionaire business leaders or mafioso bosses or big-name politicians because their attitude means they don't give a fuck about stepping all over people to get what they want.
I would play Akechi completely straight as the total lawfag I thought he was. Give him an actual Social Link instead of auto ranking up. Keep the scenario's the same with Sae's palace, he genuinely wants to keep the Phantom Thieves from being convicted for crimes they didn't commit, and makes a deal to make them stop their activities. After Sae's palace, the PT's learn about Shido and decide they need to change his heart in spite of the deal they made with Akechi. Akechi, feeling betrayed, and having conflicting feelings about changing his father's heart instead of stopping him by the books, stands in the way of the PT. You have to fight him, and if you haven't maxed out his social link you'll be forced to kill him. Justice is no longer on your side.
I would have him share the Velvet Room with you, seeing as he's a wildcard, but his identity is obscured so you don't know it's him until the end. You would get to talk to the real him more often that way instead of just having him monologue about how miserable he is and go crazy right at the end. That and a more satisfying end to his story is all I'd need though. Also have Joker fighting him one on one would be cool.
It's obvious as fuck he's the traitor and not even related to the pancakes thing.
I was expected to sympathize with him? I just thought he was hilarious. He's such a bitch baby.
>I didn't say incel at all,
>no he was not, just because he's a "relatable" incel doesn't make him better.
dumb tranny
That's a >Also have Joker fighting him one on one would be cool.
>not soloing him with Arsene only
>worse VAs for Chie and Teddie
I thought I was the only one, especially Teddie. I think people really underrate how good a job Teddie's og VA did
You're not suppose to sympathize with him. He was abandoned by his father, his mother committed sudoku, and he never made a meaningful relationship. How can you expect someone with such a twisted unbringing to have a sane view of the world. He was anti-social, antithesis to joker.
This scenerio is similar to futaba, except she blamed herself rather than he dad and atleast made friends and was prolly at an age where she could better cope with the ordeal. Ryuji and yuusuke had shit fathers as well.
What are your ideas for P6's persona theme?
>historical and mythical figures that failed to reach their goals
>After Sae's palace, the PT's learn about Shido and decide they need to change his heart in spite of the deal they made with Akechi. Akechi, feeling betrayed, and having conflicting feelings about changing his father's heart instead of stopping him by the books, stands in the way of the PT. You have to fight him, and if you haven't maxed out his social link you'll be forced to kill him. Justice is no longer on your side.
That would be cool, but that would make it feel like you were the bad guys all aling and killing him feels kind of heavy for the p5 cast which is not something most normalfag personafags would like.
everything about 5 makes me feel like they wussed out on a more morally grey story for a straight up good vs evil plot which is especially jarring with how edgy the cast and their personas are. We only pull on real heist, too
Goro is pure evil, we can all agree on that. But recently, I've started thinking of this whole situation in a different way. What is truly evil is the power to kill people, and any person who has come to possess this kind of power is cursed.
sex gods
i'm convinced they're just saving philly and nyarly's return for p6, since they can't use igor anymore.
>Corrupt politicians, criminal overlords, greedy businessman and lawmen who only care about promotions don't existin real life
Run that by me again?
he's not adachi 2.0, he's the poor man's jun.
I think the weirdest thing about this is when you compare him to the chief in persona 3, everybody hates his ass, the bastard tried to kill them nd was directly responcible for Yukari's father's death and in arena they still hate that fucker when Sho makes them think it's him. And in P4 Namintame was not forgiven despite being used, they nearly killed him if not for Yu and even in the anime Yu was about to kill him but when it comes to Goro the Phantom Thieves, who are suppose to be far more willing to dish out violence and resort to unsavory measures to accomplish their goals, they're far more mature about it right off the bat which is a huge contrast to the dark hero personas they have and the outfits and mantra they all share.
You'd think with how they act and look they'd clash hard with the loose yet moral P4 group and the by the books professional style of the P3 group but when the casts meet the P5 group are the most normal teenagers there and even the voices of reason at certain points.
Sometimes I think the game was written by two seperate teams. Like that one sidequest that pretty much implies Yusuke's deadbeat father figure actually did try to raise the kid whose mother he inadvertently killed. This is after the main story where people were literally making fun of big meanie for crying on TV like the end of a cliche Disney film.
>three horrible women
t. Adachi
The social links/confidants generally are written by different people than the main plot. This is partly because a story-heavy game like this requires multiple writers in order to get everything done in a reasonable amount of time, and partly because the head writers flat-up admit that none of them had any experience with being "just friends" with girls their age growing up because Japanese society simply did not allow for that at all at that period in time, so the main SL/Conf writers are normally women.
wow that costume is awful
It's weird though. Some of the cutscenes were really good and some of them were a bit off.
See here
>main reason people hate him is “he killed haru’s dad!”
>haru’s dad is almost as bad as shido
>violence and resort to unsavory measures to accomplish their goals,
Not really though.
The PTs aren't any less darker than the cast of your average nickelodeon/disney highschool sitcom
I thought more emphasis should have been put on what happened to Futaba's mother honestly. Haru's father wasn't as bad as Shido but he was still a genuine piece of shit.
That's just because they could relate to him even if what he did was heinous. They still saw him as a victim of the kind of thing they were fighting against the whole game and the kind of thing they had all experienced in one form or another which couldn't be ignored regardless if their opinion of him. Ikutsuki had no basis for sympathy and the IT were pretty easy on Namatame the more they learned about the situation, it was only when emotions were running high and they thought he had just been responsible for Nanako's death that they considered killing him.
>You're not suppose to sympathize with him
Step one with a character you're trying to sympathize is lessening the impact of their crimes with a (somewhat) justifiable excuse. Remember Ice King from Regular Show and his obsession with being an airhead and stealing chicks?
They never try to do that with Adachi. His whole method is being bored and killing to entertain himself. You're supposed to be at least partially disgusted because he had no reason to make other people suffer.
>gets betrayed by satan
>4 fucking times
Lmao
>ice king
>regular show
user... that’s adventure time.
Not every cutscene is going to be quality, especially when you consider which ones are written to further the plot, which ones don't further the plot but further the overarching themes, which ones are simple character interaction, and which ones are supposed to be comedy. Not to mention how the game basically dropped it's initial premise partway through development, not to mention how much the teams were working on spinoffs during 5's development which Hashino openly hated and which likely caused most of 5's delays, and then on top of that the notorious terrible localization making the finished product even worse.
Whoops my mistake
wouldn't that be technically all of humanity then
What premise did they drop? The game is about social rebellion, which they do at the start, end of the game, and everywhere in between. They intermingle with the idea of theives so banks, museums, royal tombs, castles, and yachts full of rich white people.
>What premise did they drop?
i assume they're referring to the original premise where it was going to be a game about travelling around the world.
I didn't mean in the finished product, I meant in the initial development. The game was originally going to be about road tripping around the world before all of that was dropped to do the rebellion/social commentary story that 5 has.
The game is too long for it's own good
If I wanted to play Persona 1, would playing the Ps1 version for the SEBEC route, then playing the PSP version for Snow Queen be a good way to go about it?
Dont mind me, me and kandori are just better akechis
Either play PSP for both or play PS1 (emulated Japanese version with fan translation) for both.
Didn't say incel at all retard. Go cry on /r9k/ you faggot.
Play the psp version with the original music patch because not even p1 psp apologists are able to tolerate 30 hours of lone prayer and bloody destiny
No. There is literally no reason to play the PS1 version. It will just suck
Just play PSP
He also kinda killed Joker.
Atlus, which already had a policy of not allowing JP voice tracks exported, gave us the Japanese dub for a reason.
As well English Haru made me want to kill myself.
>The game was originally going to be about road tripping around the world before all of that was dropped to do the rebellion/social commentary story that 5 has.
What proof is there besides Futaba's somewhat out of place Egypt roadtrip?
The best thing Royal can do is remove all of the text message dialogue about Palaces.
based devilman
>Igor was
anyone who played any Persona prior would immediately suspect something
>entire motivation is that he fused with a demon to kill everyone who bullied him
Is hazama dare i say it /ourguy/?
I'm pretty sure the majority of people just though "huh thats weird" rather than thinking he's a fake Igor.
>Hashino: At the start of development, the Phantom Thief concept was not something that we had yet considered. Because the past works in the series were stories centered around school and its surroundings, I had been thinking of backpacking: a game where you’re flying around to various places, with the theme similar to that of a journey of self-discovery.
it was one of the top complaints about the game when it came out
instead of giving you a month to setup for endgame, the twist this time is that the endgame is abrupt and forces you to play through it all in one go with very long intermittent exposition and a verbose as fuck finale
>we have done this shit several times but do you think it will work?
I know that the average persona fan has a 2 digit iq but was it really necessary?
Egypt was completely in place because tomb raiding is one of the most obvious heist locations in fiction, plus it fit perfectly with her personality and distortion.
maybe in the next game they could go over the concept of multiple selves in the plot and not just one singular shadow
>wildcard
>only uses 2 persona
Persona 1 cast shits on this kid
I fucking hate the teamwork vs solo genius angle the narrative takes too, especially when you 1v1 his exploitable ass
it perfectly fit with the va's death so there was no reason to suspect it.
Hard question. Sub is still based on butchered translation so you'll be recognizing what people are actually saying in jap and going "wait a minute, this is not what the subtitles say!"
It's painful and makes you wanna learn jap for real.
Personas and shadows as the games define them are already too complicated for the average person to understand.
lol no, neutral >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> All else
Its 1000x worse than persona
And Im not sure if you noticed, but neutral IS power of teamwork
Based Heat poster
>you'll be recognizing what people are actually saying in jap and going "wait a minute, this is not what the subtitles say!"
sorry, I can't translate nuke
What examples are there of this?
Only do that if you really wanted to hear both soundtracks
Which you can do anyway with a modded PSP version, just ask me if you want it
>And Im not sure if you noticed, but neutral IS power of teamwork
Eh depends on game to game, I/II has you have to do shit solo outside of masakado's handmedowns and stephen, Yuko dies in Freedom for 3, but in other games, yeah more about collective humanity fuck yeah
not only that but that was like 20 lines ago by the time he butts in meaning he was spying on them for awhile
It's literally text of the dub, stop calling it a proper sub since all you get are fucking voices and not a full-on redone text.
Satan's a bitch ass fucker
>Yuko dies in Freedom for 3,
Comes back for it so nah
>yeah more about collective humanity fuck yeah
That is exactly what , listen carefully, SMTIV/A and P5 use
I mean, yeah that would be sick as fuck my dude
The game is a wish fulfilment highschool simulator. What do you think?
>other character is given wild card ability from same source
>can't swap persona during a boss fight
Damn
Here
mega.nz
It has both versions , PS1 music and PSP music
Also check this site if you have doubts about what does this ailment do, get lost in fusion or what to know how to get some party members for the sebec route (pretty important if you want to use everyone)
persona1.wikidot.com
Something to note , you can change between both versions if you ever get sick/curious about the music and the saves will work just fine
Have you not watched the anime? They made Joker do all the meme responses. When Kawakami says he looks young he says “I’m a dad”, and the entire anime is sprinkled with option 3 responses.
>t.yhvh
Imagine getting dabbed on by pansexual david bowie and his gang of chaosfaggs
I don't think akechi has a wild card. the malevolent God appeared to him before he comediered the velvet room.
Controversial opinion: Namatame was a victim. He was, in my eyes, almost fully innocent.
He is though.
Fucking Based, god speed user
This isn't controversial. Even in-universe the IT feels the same way once they hear his side of the story, and everyone in town forgives him enough that he ends up running for mayor.
They are going to redeem him on persona 5 royal, right?
probably, gotta cash in on that popularity
I'm convinced that Poniko's role will be as a new confidant that will legitimately believe all the stuff that Akechi only pretends to believe as part of his public persona, with the confidant story being Joker winning her over to their side or in some way reconciling their separate views, with her taking his place as playable after the casino, so that players can have "good Akechi" without actually affecting Akechi's character.
>akechi
>character
U wot
Does watching movies actually make you more charismatic?
They say that he has the same power as Joker multiple times in and out of the game.
Yes. Just take a look at Yea Forums.
Lavenza confirms Akechi got his power after Yaldy took over the Velvet Room, and the whole point of Akechi is he's what the player would be with no social bonds or demon negotiation.
>Good Akechi
>Without the Akechi
Why even bother? It's bad enough she's a literal clone of femc.
>implying she wont be marie 2.0: fuck the phantom thieves
Oh you poor son of man
he died after his role was completed
meaning they probably changed igor's role in the first place since he was already in poor health
hey, this is a very good guess
>fuck the phantom thieves
>Ends up getting fucked by the phantom thief
What did she mean by this
It’s crazy how persona 5 is straight up dog shit in terms of story and characters yet fags eat it up and praise it as the best jrpg. Is it because it’s their first persona game of something?
igor's nip va's been dead for over half a decade. got reduced lines in animation and PQ for that reason
>he died after his role was completed
He died in 2010, before they even decided what kind of game P5 was gonna be.
>so that players can have "good Akechi" without actually affecting Akechi's character.
If it isn't a cute boy that calls me ATTIC TRASH then I don't want it.
Everything else about the game is leagues better than prior installments though, you have to admit.
It'll be a cute girl who calls you attic trash as she rides you all night in said attic.
presentation goes a long way
>All you are really mad at is you didn't get your cathartic "FUCK YOU AKECHI" moment in the game,
No shit, fiction is supposed to be a vehicle for catharsis, and not delivering on buildup is a failure on the writer/s. How unsatisfying would the ending of DMC5 be if Nero didn't get to tell off Vergil, how shitty would Revengance be if you never got your rematch with Sam.
>fiction is supposed to be
With just five words, you expose yourself as having the IQ of a snail.
Persona 5 starts strong, then it turns drops harder than all the other persona games, the only reason its popular its thanks to weeb pandering harder than golden and style over substance
>It'll be a cute girl who calls you attic trash as she rides you all night in said attic.
>ruin the life of 3 of the main characters
>kill countless people even before the game starts
>we forgive you akechi because we are idiots
Bravo fatlus
>posts game where neutral is worst ending and is also the opposite of teamwork
When will he leave the flowerfields
No one leaves the flower field, user. No one.
Ngl I suspected Haru of being the rival theif because of her menacing look when you first load the game. Kinda disappointed when she was just the cute one
>>we forgive you akechi
Wow, it only took four words this time
You need a galaxy tier of brain to understand how all the new endings are pro neutral and neutral + is the worst megaten ending period
True, but honestly it’s because of better hardware. Persona 4 remake on the same p5 engine would be kino
When he decides that its time to put his foot down and stop a bunch of hacks from ruining his life passion project
I absolutely caught it, but I had nearly forgotten it by the time it came back up
Persona was Kaneko's passion project?
>A Catharsis is an emotional discharge through which one can achieve a state of moral or spiritual renewal, or achieve a state of liberation from anxiety and stress. Catharsis is a Greek word meaning “cleansing.” In literature, it is used for the cleansing of emotions of the characters.
>In literature, it is used for the cleansing of emotions of the characters.
Players get satisfaction from seeing these encounters, just because your husbando is a piece of shit doesn't mean everyone else should be denied him being called one by the people he fucked over
P5s plot was even more disappointing than 4, everything ended up being whining about adults. It was the fucking kids next door of persona.
Persona 1 and 2 were
Also smt in general i guess
But then The Phantom Thieves would be genuinely bad guys.
>the entire plot of p4 falls apart the moment you remember that they have 1 month to install cameras/surveilance on the future victims
>everything ended up being whining about adults
Would you care to share you opinions on baby boomers?
Demon negotiations, guns, stealth and other world mechanics, none of these really are because of hardware, they are just additions that make the game a lot more dynamic and interesting. The process of acquiring a new persona in 5 makes going back to the cards in 3/4 feel really hollow
The worst part of P5 is none of the cast feels like actual outcasts apart from Ren (MC) & Futaba, maybe Haru a little. It's meant to be a game for outcasts fighting against an unjust society, but they never feel like outcasts. We are just told they are but never actually shown it at all.
They should of made the characters more rough around the edges. They actually feel the most normal of all the Persona games...which is bad, considering they are meant to be outcasts.
Wtf I didn't know Death Note got a game
>because of her menacing look when you first load the game
what's up with her smug look and that sexy pose in the intro cinematic? It has nothing to do with Haru's personality at all
>the opening trailer where Makoto and Haru are just sitting around watching Futaba type
they didn't complete the story until way later didn't they
Its painfully obvious the OP was made like, 2 years before they established everything
>Players get satisfaction from seeing these encounters
Hence there exists the possibility of denying catharsis in order to intentionally cause feelings of dissatisfaction for whatever reasons. The truth is, you attach more importance to Goro than he actually deserves. Which is probably intentional, he has everything he needs to be a proper evil rival and whatever. But at the end of the day in-universe he is simply a sad angry child throwing a temper tantrum because daddy didn't love him enough and he was treated as such. Nobody forgave him, they just moved on because he was ultimately nothing without the actual two major bosses supporting him. This ties in with the game's repeated theme of how assholes can worm their way into positions of status and/or power that they don't deserve by abusing social conventions. In this case Goro has wormed his way into a position of rival that he didn't deserve by abusing the likelihood of the player such as yourself attaching said importance onto him.
Nah, they too a dead weight too in the final product
the script-writing was pretty weak in general, and though it did go further than persona 3 and 4 did, I still feel like the devs puss out a bit whenever they have to opportunity to make character motivations feel real
I know Makoto gets turned into a sex slave if you miss the deadline, Ann becomes Kamoshida’s bitch, Yusuke remains slave to Madarame, Haru is stuck in a unhappy marriage, but I can’t seem to find what happens if you miss Futaba’s deadline. Does she just become a permanent NEET?
That's not how the plot of P4 worked at all. In all cases they were kidnapped within a day or two of the IT figuring out they were the target, sometimes even the same day. At best you can argue Naoto should've set up cameras before pulling her stunt but it still would've been possible for her to have been nabbed outside of her home.
>Absolutely every villain in the game is connected to shido just because
It was fucking dumb.
She seems to commit suicide.
Sojiro gets arrested alongside you, so either she gets put back in the custody of her uncle and then abused, or she straight up commits suicide.
>the p4 and 5 gang are supossed to be 5d chess masters
>the 2 of them are portrayed ingame as a bunch of incompetent retards
So this is the power of persona writting....woah
I don't think the p4 gang are supposed to be 5d chess masters
He may not be a complete outcast but Yusuke is a fucking weirdo. I think he’s the best character in the game though.
4 exists in that period where camera phones weren't really a hot commodity yet.
And like Dojima would give police shit to Naoto.
I legitimately can't tell what you're trying to say here.
>Rival phantom detective who uses the information gained in Palaces to investigate people in the real world and put them in jail.
>A ideological rival that focuses on punishment over rehabilitation where the Thieves believe that stealing desires and making bad guys reform forceful is better than having them rot in jail and contribute nothing
>Makoto and Haru are on his team instead of yours
>Makoto being in a law enforcement family want's bad guys punished
>Haru blames you for her father's death
>Have to fight all three of them at once before you all team up for the final battles
>Shido is the black mask and a persona user with Nobunaga as his persona
>Yabadabado was his patron "god"

We know he's like that, but they never showed us how normies really interacted with his...weirdness. So while we know he's weird, it never really feels that way in some ways cause we never see how people outside the main group react to him.
You are tripping hard. Ryuji is ousted by all of his friends and is seen as a punk bitch piece of shit by both school students and faculty, Makoto is the bookworm teachers pet nerd that literally nobody likes, Yusuke is from a different school and slightly autistic, Morgana doesn’t even know what he is for most of the game, Haru is from an entirely different world than everyone else and has no control of her life, Futaba is NEET. The only one who doesn’t feel like an outcast is Ann, because she’s a literal model and has friends. They try to say her being half-white makes her feel alienated but it’s not very believable.
I meant this, you get hints of a “dark side” in Haru with the axe thing but it’s never consistent and she’s always a pushover
>I sure do love all this stolen artwork
>Also I need to keep an eye on schoolkids just in case
3/10 doesnt understand the main idea behind yaldabaoth , needs more connections to Gnosticism
I dont know how the bald principal got into Shido's circle
Yaldy was controlling the conspiracy the whole time and you're surprised every target was connected ?
You only really see Ryuji outcasted in his social link. He never feels like the delinquent he's meant to be either, they should of gone further down that line.
Makoto is similar in that regard. After her initial introduction, we never see others disliking her and those that do...it was mainly Ann in the game and the others.
Morgana is an outcast so I suppose he fits.
Haru as I said does somewhat feel like an outcast, but it's never showed off in the story apart from her celebration after her father's defeat.
Futaba was an outcast, like I said. I already said she was one.
Ann is the worst, she has friends you see all the time in the story, she is never treated like an outcast so it makes it seem kinda pathetic that she gave into Kamoshida where Shiho probably wouldn't have been raped like she was if Ann never accepted Kamoshida's advances from the start.
Yusuke is a clear weirdo, but we never see how normies react to him outside of a few times in his Social Link.
The issue is that most of them being outcasts is shown in there social links occasionally, but it's never really shown in the main story and it makes the story feel weak cause none of the characters feel like outcasts.
They feel like normal people, even more so when compared to previous Persona casts. That is NOT how they should of been. Should of made them a lot rougher around the edges, show more of them being outcasts in the main story and actually have them be strange and clearly people who don't fit in.
That's a case of different values in Nipponville. Ann is hated because she's Americanese, Ryuji dyes his hair which is a telltale sign of a punk. Futaba is a NEET obviously. Yusuke is a nobody without his teacher to promote his artworks as his own.
You have a point about Makoto and Haru though.
The P4 cast is literally portrayed as bumbling high school retards who go after something way bigger than they are equipped to handle and they somehow figure shit out along the way, and it’s great. The P5 cast on the other hand is indeed portrayed as 7D chess masters and it ends up being really fucking dumb
>Ann is the worst, she has friends you see all the time in the story, she is never treated like an outcast so it makes it seem kinda pathetic that she gave into Kamoshida where Shiho probably wouldn't have been raped like she was if Ann never accepted Kamoshida's advances from the start.
She had 1 friend the whole time at school and she is not an outcast ?
Ryuji is a disgraced athlete who can no longer do the one thing that kept him respected and feeling good about himself, is now just another delinquent.
Ann is bullied and unsavory rumors spread about her. Her opening scene has her get picked up by a sleazy looking older man that is meant to suggest she may do high school prostitution, another known issue in Japan. Also her closest friend and confidant was raped in her place.
Makoto is probably the worst "show, not tell" but the gist with her is how she's seen as just another textbook model student and not as a real person with real, almost ordinary struggles. Her only family is her sister who's too busy with her law career so she often returns to an empty home after spending all day studying and attending prep school without any meaningful socialization. Then even her future as a good student heading into a good college and having a straightforward, albeit successful life is threatened when she's tasked with finding the Phantom Thieves.
Yusuke is some eccentric artist fuck. The game even puts him in a brief homeless situation.
Futaba is obvious as you noted.
Haru is somewhat similar to Makoto. She's basically the closest you can get to a modern princess, she's an heiress to not just a large estate, but a mega estate that is growing in political pull. She's groomed to be elite, but, as Disney princess stories like to play out, she wants a little more say in her life.
Akechi was a loser before his celebrity persona, this was covered by the game.
Morgana is a fucking talking cat with an attitude, doesn't know what his actual purpose is but wants to believe it is noble.
>Responding
If people can't pay attention to the game hammering them stuff they won't learn shit now
>morgana
>noble
He literally doesnt shut up about how hes only using the phantom thieves to futher his own goals
They made a deal with each other so it's fine
Morgana was a piece of shit
t. Ryuji
They way he talks, especially in the Japanese voice track, is very knight-like. It's most obvious in English by the way he treats "Lady Ann."
I mean what do you want? Cutscenes of them sitting alone at a fucking lunch table? I will only give you Ann, as she is popular and hot, the game acknowledges this. The confidants are an integral aspect to the characters, so to ignore development because it happens in confidants is dumb. It sounds like you don’t like the social link system, because in terms of the main story, they made it clear that they were outcasts effectively, and they don’t beat you over the head with it, which I appreciate. They’re all fucking freaks. During the beach trip Yusuke says he has no friends at his other school so he was grateful he linked up with the Phantom crew. There’s bits and pieces like that sprinkled all throughout the story, it may just not have stuck with you because the game is so damn long.
To be honest, no, I don't like the social link system.
It's fine for side characters, but they shouldn't do that for the main cast.
It's why I prefer the P2 games. The main cast actually progress and evolve through the main story, getting development constantly throughout the game. I prefer this approach, but add social links for side characters that help there.
The worst part are social links like Ryuji. You see him clearly mature in the social link, but it's never reflected once in P5's story. He's still the same loud mouthed brash reckless guy and he shows none of the progress that he made in his social link. Now if his social link was tied directly into the story like similar things in P2, then it would of worked a lot better.
So I propose that the main cast of Persona games don't get social links. Instead their progression is tied into the main plot, with social links/side quests being reserved for side characters to give more depth and world building to everything.
I was tinkering with a rewrite of the plot where Joker would have been subtly "stealing the hearts" of all his allies the entire game.
In this version of the plot, he would write a true confession to his crimes to be delivered to his team, then make a confession to the real-world illegal shit he did to Sae and her investigation team.
Ultimately, the epilogue would have been Joker in a real life prison and how well you ended up treating each Confidant would determine who comes to visit you.
S-ranking everyone results in a playable epilogue where a Velvet Room door appears in your cell that allows you to meet your team in Mementos.
>so it makes it seem kinda pathetic that she gave into Kamoshida where Shiho probably wouldn't have been raped like she was if Ann never accepted Kamoshida's advances from the start.
You must be retarded if you don’t see how Kamoshida’s power practically forced Ann to comply with his advancements (up until sex). You’re a fucking idiot.
No fuck that, main plot is for main plot not fighting time with character development
>constantly picks at Ryuji since the first meeting
>this continues until halfway through the game
>has doubt in himself in the pyramid arc
>Ryuji picks on him once
>Morgana goes off the edge and splits off from group
>Ryuji gets shat on big time
>inevitably leads the Phantom Thieves into the trap after Morgana warns the group to always be careful in the beginning
they should've at least started that part of Morgana's story sooner so it wouldn't be as sudden
Morgana was getting fucked in the ass ever since Futaba got into the group, Ryuji's fight was just what he used to walk away, it was not 'sudden'
Dont underestimate the power of brainlets user
I unironically couldn't tell Makoto and Goro apart in this at first
They need to balance both so main cast development doesn't feel disjointed
I somewhat agree but you picked a really bad example with Ryuji. Him being a loud jackass is just his character and that does not change at any point during his s.Link.
But it dons't ? everyone gets development in their arc as they should
They should of had Morgana and Ryuji both attack each other constantly throughout the game, with their arguments getting worse.
In the game, it's always Morgana starting the attack on Ryuji, so it feels like bullshit when it happens to Morgana and he just loses his shit.
What should of happened is that it should of been a normal argument, but Ryuji goes too far. In this way, it feels like their was a progression each time they fought.
And it would of cultivated into the larger fight that splits Morgana off.
Or they could change it completely. Instead of having Ryuji be the one who snaps at Morgana, if it was something that say...Ann had said, that could of caused the issue that makes Morgana leave, since that would hurt him more.
IT WAS NOT SUDDEN, holy shit play the fucking game and pay attention
Him leaving wasn't so bad. Him leaving then dragging the pres' daughter into his shit pretty much forcing the PT to fall into Shido's trap?
Death was too good for him.
Morganas plot feels rushed as fuck, he keeps throwing shit at ryuji and telling the phantom thieves that once he reached the bottom of mementos hes gonna tell them to suck his dick, but the moment ryuji strikes back its suddenly too far
I never said it was sudden, at all.
All I said was that the argument between Morgana And Ryuji that causes Morgana to leave just felt like a normal argument between them. That's why it's so annoying. It never felt any different, so the fact that Morgana reacted that way despite it being like every other argument is what takes the piss.
But if they changed it, either by having the argument be a lot more intense then it normally is or by having someone else say the hurtful thing, it would of made a lot more sense and fit better.
It happened immediately after futaba joined. Morgana was a shitter that wanted to pick fights with ryuji constantly but him saying "Wow futaba is better at this than you" is going way too over the line apparently.
For the love of god stop being dumb and pay attention to the game
There’s simply too many characters to do this with. Each character gets their own arc during their respective palace segment and that’s it, with the exception of Morgana who’s arc is constantly happening throughout the entire game. The meat is gained during these parts, with a climax during their awakening and a resolution during palace aftermath. Then it’s on to the next character. It’s set up this way for a reason. Do you know how annoying and messy it would be to juggle 8 simultaneous developing characters plus the actual ploy events? Shit would be horrible. The s.Link system lets you get extra development without bogging down the main plot. Doing what you suggest wouldn’t work well.
>could go over the concept of multiple selves in the plot and not just one singular shadow
I'd like to see them tackle ones perception on how others perceive them, the idea that others hate you can be just as harmful as hating yourself
He used the argument to leave, it was not reason he leaved
Yeah user say that to a guy with that is having existence crisis, forgetting his fish when he did not even asked for much was a low blow
And yet a game like P2 did it.
It honestly could work, especially with a game as long as P5. There are lots of games similar to this that do this sort of thing.
P3P did it fine enough I think.
The main plot they would get their main character development and in their social libk you get to know them a but better personally.
Like in Junoei's case you got the inferiority complex and him getting over that after Chidori's death and in his SL you just get to know him better like how his dad is a drunk that used to beat him.
P2 had much less characters
>having shit thats too complicated for normies to understand
Do you want to kill the persona series again?
Wasnt p2 and trinity souls enought for you?
Noble not in the moral sense, but in the hierarchy of society. He treats Ryuji like a rube and Ann like a Lady.
Literally a group of misfits.
The argument could be made that he develops more into a proper romantic knight as the game comes to its conclusion after he learns his purpose, making it more poetic.
And some characters in P5 feel like they were added just because.
P3P did not even had main plot development till after Ikutsuki dies, you can't sacrifice story for character development
Not even, its even earlier than that. Replay through the game and you’ll notice he starts getting insecure right around when Makoto joins because she becomes the new “tactician”/informant, which was his niche up until that point. She even takes over battle narration and enemy weakness scanning.
Should've reduced the amount of core/playable guys then.
Morgana was literally just a whinier version of teddie, all the way down to the obsession of fucking human women.
Yeah no , everyone in P5 had development
So now you’re baiting
If you’re referring to Haru, yes she didn’t get enough time. But to say she was added “just because” is not giving enough credit
I feel like there were way too many party members in P5.
There was no need for a new party member for every new dungeon.
Haru should have been cut.
Lol no
The game had more than 100 hours, Haru just needed more time then she would be fine
He had one of the biggest ones, from the moment his boss fight begin's to the end and his sacrifice
Oh I'm not really referring to her.
One of the big issues of P5 is that after a certain character joins, the group dynamic kind of falls apart.
Like you said, their are too many party members. It's like each game has to have lots of party members for Variety instead of having party members that are properly developed.
It would help if they added more months in the game and added more story scenes that involved the characters, it wouldn't fix the issue though.
College?
To be fair every persona besides 3 does this too. That's why people complained about the Social links in 3 being so boring, because it's the only game where characters don't get over their problems until relatively late in the game so you have stupid shit like "What is hamburger?".
Why couldn't they just have Akechi and Joker become genuine friends leading to a reluctant fight due to conflicting wills and ideals?
>certain character
Do you care to specify in order to substantiate you argument, or are you just going to continue typing bullshit?
>the group dynamic kind of falls apart.
Either expand on that or you're baiting
Akechi literally says if he had meet Joker sooner things could have been different, his boss fight was him coping the whole fight
People like Adachi more than Akechi because the plot doesn't go out of its way to try to make you feel sorry for him, so any sympathy you have for him is more personal to you.
Also Adachi was funny while Akechi was a tool.
Persona 3 literally did this and follows the same structure as 5 except it didn't even have palaces for plot and character progression.
There's literally no excuse for 5's terrible characters
>Do you want to kill the persona series again?
If it's means keeping it from going the way of Fire Emblem anymore than yes let go full fucking weird esoteric bullshit
They tried that, but it didn't work.
Honestly, one of the main issues if Persona is the protagonist being a complete blank slate. It's not a terrible thing, but in a game like this it just...isn't good?
I think lots of social links and stories could of been fixed or improved upon along with the story if the protagonist had an actual personality and voice and actually talked.
And you can still keep multiple choices, a character with a personality can still respond in various ways, but it would of felt characters feel more like friends if they actually...talked.
That's why the relationship they tried to force with Akechi just felt too one sided.
It's god damn Makoto how can you not tell it's Makoto?
Pretty much
>Deludes himself into thinking he's a cat because of spacial distortion
>Has dreams of being a Shadow monster
>Gets uppity as shit when anyone treats him as a mascot instead of a reel boy
To be fair in 3 you don't get a social link with aby of the SEES members, except for the girls so you can fuck them.
Hell not even Aigis had a SL untill FES.
And honestly I would rather have a junpei and Koromaru SL like in p3p than Kenji and that emperor SL faggot.
Ken and Akihiko were brand, Koro was non existent and Shinji was a plot device
>It's god damn Makoto how can you not tell it's Makoto?
So you were baiting all along
>It’s Makoto
Are you going to say WHY
Holy FUCK
That is with all confidants
Part members are something else but for example, shit like helping takemi can be seen as going only for the bonus
Ken and Akihiko were the best characters in the game you fucking retard
No, everyone knows it its Junpei with the amount of development he gets
It makes him better for the story cause you’re not really supposed to feel bad for him ever, even if you max his social link
He’s great for the story cause his motivation is the only one that could justify all the bullshit and red herrings that Happen
He’s also just better written, as an unlikeable and selfish and delusional piece of shit
Her inclusion really didn't do anything. She messed up the group dynamic, her social link was weak, she didn't really do much in the story apart from be Sae's sister and give us access to her computer...which could of been fixed in some other ways.
Honestly, some of the stuff they had in development could of fixed those issues. Like originally, Ren was meant to stay with Sae. You could of just had him do the computer if they kept that.
Hifumi probably would of been a better party member then Makoto.
>Ken and Akihiko were bland
I see you were in a coma during Shinji's funeral.
I'm so glad the anime allows me to see joker gun down akechi with 2 guns
>She messed up the group dynamic
Why ? answer the question
P5 characters have development though. What’s your malfunction, retard?
Oh yeah user 3 mins resolutions make them not bland for the rest of the whole game, even after the scene they are back to doing nothing
>messed up the group dynamic
You know, you keep throwing this around but it’s never accompanied with an explanation.
>straight up dogshit
I love how disingenuous you people are
Because she was a boring character that kept yelling about how great she is.
She literally never does that lol
Shitty ass bait
They're "developed" for one dungeon then completely cease to function as characters beyond a single designated cliche except for that time Ryuji teased actual progression by saving the team at Shidos palace only for everyone to beat him up for absolutely no reason and his whole courageous self sacrificial moment to be forgotten as he immediately goes back to being the comic relief punching bag
That's the point, Akechi was an outcast from the start (kids with single parents are shat on especially in Japanese society) & with no one to help him he basically was isolated with no bonds or POWER OF FRIENDSHIP for his entire childhood to the point that he'd turn into immoral methods like murder to exact justice/revenge & 'find' his place in society. Joker was going in that direction but POWER OF FRIENDSHIP gave him more opportunities for a better life. The idea was there but Akechi's backstory is only implied a very few times until his boss fight when they just slap it on your face before he fades into the background after he dies
>”I post on anonymous imageboards about games I haven’t played”: The Post
Not true, there were the festival girls he accosted for not acting traditional, also him walking around the beach with lobsters, and his dialogue with the art director. He also mentions that no one hangs out with him at school because he's weird
*GASP* just like P3 ones after their arcs
She never did this. Though she did take over planning heists, I forgot that Yusuke even drew the calling cards anymore
>cease to function as characters
Shit, I’m sorry, I didn’t realize we were at the stage in an argument where we hyperbolize and make shit up. Lemme get my material ready
Honestly, Makoto and Hifumi should of been swapped around.
I would of preferred Makoto as Confidant, Hifumi as a Party Member.
When the group was just Joker/Ryuji/Ann/Yusuke it feels like they're a team who have to work together with everyone, even Ryuji, being useful and after Makoto joins she basically solves every problem by saying something incredibly fucking obvious then everyone sucks her futa dick because of how smart she is. It just gets worst once Futaba joins, at that point the whole phantom thieves are just Makoto and Futaba while Joker does nothing, Ryuji says something stupid, Yusuke talks about eating paint and Ann/Haru basically don't exist at all
This entire post sounds incredibly familiar...
>When the group was just Joker/Ryuji/Ann/Yusuke it feels like they're a team who have to work together with everyone
Now this is bait, Morgana did much more shit than all of them half of the time
they always were
So you’re just going to ignore how Morgana did 99% of the work prior to Makoto joining?
t. Yaldy
Pretty much the entire second half of the game is just the party repeating the same conversation over and over again because none of them ever get developed any further than just being a certain trope and there's no actual story events beyond palaces that only highlight a new character who joins them right after it's over
t. pancakes
The thing with Futaba is that she actually fits in the plot better then Makoto does. They could of added more computer stuff that only Futaba could solve.
That means she doesn't solve all the groups problems, she can only solve computer and tech related problems, but she sucks at anything else.
Hifumi would of made a better Party Member then Makoto. She's a master Shogi Player, so her being a tactician makes sense. I don't remember her being particularly smart though, so she wouldn't of been able to solve all of the cast's problems magically. And she has more personality than Makoto does, I'm sorry but she does.
Makoto is just the one who messes up the party dynamic the most and is the one who needs to be replaced or just made less perfect and great. Also give her a completely new confidant storyline.
Stop being dumb, even if you ignore everything they say and do there is still the velvet room talk where you free them
They’ve already had their fucking arcs, do you know how a character arc works?
Again just like P3
P3 characters start as tropes and progress into good characters like half to 3/4th through the game. P5 characters and Ann and Ryuji literally have all of their development in the first few hours of a 100 hour game
>P3 characters start as tropes and progress into good characters like half to 3/4th through the game.
No, they stay the same shit but less edgy and dumb(for some times), just look at Ken after Shinji's death, he is less edgy and more happy just that
You need to replay P3 I’d you genuinely believe what you’re typing.
If you believe Junpei stays as the jealous but
cowardly second banana for the entire game I must have been playing a very different Persona 3 to you.
Junpei was 90% of the time friendly with you just hiding the jealous stuff inside him, he losing that was almost the same as having it
I actually think this user is the same "she messed up the group dynamic poster" that has been in these threads since like a week after the game came out
