It's the cycle

Cool blog fag

Literally same except i'm still a poorfag neet.
Video games just don't make me happy anymore.

They're great when you're drunk or on drugs it helps to shut off enough of your brain to recapture that childlike sense of the game being the most important thing in life

*sip*
thanks man I hope you have a good evening as well - Robert

I don't wanna waste my money on drugs or alcohol because i know it would just make me more miserable in the long run, but man do i sometimes wish i was into that stuff.

>1100
anything below 2k is poorfag

>new pc
>can play every newest game
>still play older titles

>drop $2000 on PC because ASUS ROG
>drop another $2000 on liquid cooling and LEDs
>don't even bother to OC anything
>spend 10% doing CAD fuckery
>spend 10% playing games
>spend 50% shitposting
>spend 30% watching twitch streams

I only got it because I like to dab on my poorfag college roommates.

True but anything above 1k hits the threshold where your cost/performance gained ratio drops off a cliff unless you're going to spend even more money and get 3 1440p 120hz monitors and in that case you might as well spend another 4k on SLI GTX Titans or whatever the current thing is. I'm not into treating my PC like a sports car anymore. It can run my games and I'm happy. That's it.

The fuck, I didn't know I had a twin.

So, uh, what if you only have like $500. Can you even buy a gaming PC?

Save a little more and buy used parts.
Going too cheap right now just means you'll get fucked once the new console gen is out, but if you just wanna play old stuff then go ahead.

Aim for 650-700 without pheripherals/monitor. If it's a new PC, if you wanna build used you can gey something good for cheaper. Use local deals to your advantage.
New: Ryzen 1600, 580 8GB, 8-16GB DDR4 and SSD
Used: some i7 or Xeon, 580 8GB or 1060 6GB, 12-16GB DDR3 and SSD

>Just pay over $500 for a used PC brah
Okay, I think the prophecy is being fulfilled. The internet is dying, computing is dying and now everything is becoming so expensive the world is going to partition into Eloi and Morlock. I will taste Eloi flesh.

>$650-700 is scraping by
This is literally outrageous. I was told by Steven Pinker that technology is always getting cheaper.

>a hurr durr, but muh computing power muh storage
Yeah, except there is always a minimal threshold for functionality price wise, which doesn't seem to be getting much better than it was 20 years ago. How the fuck can people afford this shit. A few hundred more dollars and you could buy a shitty car.

You could totally build a PC that runs everything current for 500 if you buy used stuff, i'm just advising you to go a bit higher or wait longer since the bar is just about to be raised quite significantly.

I can do anything if I buy it used enough, now can't I? There's a reason used is cheaper. Used literally just means "not as functional" or even "broken".

>get a good job
>drop 2500ish on a toptier rig
>drop another grand or so on setting up the "battlestation"
>still sit here and shitpost while looking for deals on Vidya like I'm still broke
Comfy.

>How the fuck can people afford this shit
By having a job
>A few hundred more dollars and you could buy a shitty car
Already have one

video games are kinda trash now anyways. all I play anymore is path of exile when a new league comes around, and even that game is still sorta shit

nice same boat

>Used literally just means "not as functional" or even "broken".
No it doesn't, plenty of used parts are still perfectly functional and in good condition, just be careful.

What is coming up that's big and game changing? Smaller die size, new graphics shit, Oculus teaming up with bad dragon? People keep saying wait but not what for other than that it's overdue. I need to upgrade eventually and wanna go fast when I do.

>drop a shitton of money on a new rig after playing nothing but roms, decades old games and 2D indies on 7 year old laptop that was outdated when I bought it
>fire up Doom4
>holy fuck, this is what video games look like now
I honestly don't get how people who like vidya can shitpost here all day instead of doing something like playing Warhammer TW2 on ultra.

dont worry op

you are just experiencing what everyone felt

New console generation looks like it'll be able to at least keep up with, if not surpass, current 1k+ PCs.
That means PC games themselves will also become significantly more demanding, especially considering how much more poorly optimized many PC ports are.

Sure.

pcpartpicker.com/list/Xpw69J

If $500 was a hard limit, you could drop the hard drive and reuse an old one/scrounge one from somewhere. People are always throwing them out.

>buy a nintendo switch
>occasionally play taiko with the drum
>occasionally check the store
no games

Too broke to buy games because I spent it all on a PC so I guess I'll play Mount and Blade some more. Also I think a lot of people here are neets

Honestly I dont even feel like upgrading my pc anymore all the shit i play requires low spec anyways and this shit cpu from 2011 is still running everything. getting too deep into muh pc master race autism and speccing out just is not worth it.

>Happy anyway
Let's if you are still happy once the system requirements for Cyberpunk 2077 drop.

Attached: 277.jpg (1920x1080, 245K)

Yeah but think about how long it will be before this thing becomes too outdated, if user cares about playing new games then these $540 will basically be worthless in 2 years.
I'd say a Ryzen 2600 and a 1660ti/1070 or AMD equivalent are the minimum to play new stuff for a while.

Oh so you just have to get lucky. Yeah, see this is why used shit is cheaper.

> watching twitch streams

Jesus christ zoomers are fucking gross.
Atleast look at clips on YouTube but dont spend time watching a neet play sekiro

It's getting cheaper, but it's also technology advancing. Case, PSU, motherboard, RAM, CPU, GPU and a HDD/SSD still aren't that cheap when you buy new.
PSU $50
Case $50
MB $75
RAM $60-120
CPU $140
GPU $ 160
SSD $75

You guys realize I'm not talking about playing shitty FPS games right? I don't need something that can run fucking Crysis at full specs. I'm just going to be playing Steam games, RTS and RPG games. The problem is, even just to do that requires a significant amount of cash.

Sure there's some luck involved, but you can mitigate your chances of getting fucked by only buying from well rated sellers who have Ebay's buyer protection enabled and write transparent descriptions.

>It's getting cheaper, but it's also technology advancing
Yeah that's what people fail to realize. Are cars today more advanced than they were 40 years ago? Sure. But that doesn't matter when the overall price tag has tripled, now does it? I can't pay for "value" in a car. I can only buy the actual car. This is why futurists are always wrong.

Get a cheap i7 and a 970 then retard.

I keep it on as background noise, like I used to with podcasts and let's plays. I don't like interacting with people, but I like hearing people interacting in the background.

Attached: 1555751220220s.jpg (1280x720, 146K)

I have something in mind and it seems okay, but I'm not sure about 1 or 2 specs, which is making me hesitate. But the next cheapest thing is over $500 for new.

Play GOG games instead.
>DRM free
>goodies
>a lot older titles with fixes for new machines

It's not really getting worse price wise. Inflation is a thing and even then it's way bettet than 20 years ago. 20 years ago PCs were outdated within 2, nowadays you can play games on 8 y/o CPUs and still get away with it

But most of it isn't going to be outdated at all, especially not relative to what you suggested. The 2600 isn't much faster than the 1600, and barely at all once you overclock both to the limits of their stock coolers. Paying more for a Zen+ chip is silly now with Zen 2 just around the corner (and anybody waiting on a new build should probably just wait anyway, since hexa-cores are likely to drop down to budget pricing). Sure, he could buy a better video card, but you almost always can. It depends on your budget. An RX 580 will remain a decent card for 1080p for a couple of years yet.

You asked if you could build a PC for $500, and were provided with an answer. If you don't need a decent setup and only plan on playing indie platformers and Pong, why ask? Buy literally any used prebuilt from the past ten years for $100 on Ebay and stick a 750 Ti in it.

>and LEDs
I dont get RGB lighting. My front fans on my case glow red and my mouse alternates colors but they just came that way standard. Do people regularly show off their setups enough to warrant it?

What do you have in mind then.

I have learned through painful experience to avoid anything used whenever possible and to absolutely try to attempt to reduce any sort of random element or "luck" to zero as much as possible because my luck is supernaturally bad.

Attached: v normal.jpg (297x500, 32K)

Maybe, but everything else has skyrocketed in price. So rent, food, fuel, vehicles, utilities are all triple what they were 15 years ago. If you're poor, this is about as bad as the 80s were again.

>Do people regularly show off their setups enough to warrant it?

Not really, but it's less cringey than having a night-light.

Suicide is still cheap.

This took surprisingly long to get sassy. Is Yea Forums (despite causing gaymercancer and ruining the fucking site - thanks for that, btw) one of the less cancerous blue boards?

Is this your first day here? Genuinely asking.

Attached: best medicine.gif (190x200, 2.56M)

I don't come here often. But every other blue board would be in full fucking melt-down mode by now that anyone would end a sentence with a question mark.

I did the same thing a few years back, ended up just playing my shitty old games on it if anything.
This year I splurged on a shiny new 1440p 144hz monitor and have only played Skyrim on it lel.

The waves of cancer come and go depending on time of day and topic being discussed. Once wojak posting starts, it's time to evacuate.

Fug

Jesus christ dude, are you me? Difference is that I just quit my job and I'm only 18.

Last year got a top of the line ASUS ROG gaming laptop.

While most of the time I'm playing pretty old (often modded) games, I still play some modern games (The Witcher 3, AC Odyssey, Tekken 7) that make the purchase worthwhile.

This is me. Also I hate Joe Rogan why do I listen to his podcast
