Mojave are optional though. Enclave getting pushed out is main story related. They're slumming around Chicago and there are roving bands of them around the DC area. Though the latter probably got mopped up by Maxon. West Coast BoS are still a thorn in the NCRs side melting their gold reserves. Not to mention whatever the hell is happening in Texas.

Are you going to OWB at like level 45? Enemy scaling in the DLCs is completely broken. I don't remember the nightstalkers, but the scorpions scale from like 100hp to 800hp based on your level, even thought the damage of your guns typically stops increasing further after level 20-30.

You can't really defeat the West Coast BoS. You can nuke the Citadel at the end of Broken Steel, but that won't stop BoS patrols from spawning and attacking you.

from a gameplay standpoint. From a narrative standpoint, all their stockpiles are gone, their leaders are dead, and they've been reduced to another band of raiders stalking the wasteland, for all intents and purposes, the BoS are done.

Man, planting a tomahawk into someone's face in VATS is so satisfying.

A bunch of little things, like item pickup animations in first person, sprinting, landing animations, objective markers in the environment, animated takedowns. It was a real hodgepodge of different ideas accumulated into one big thing.

Boone can be useful when you are out wandering big empty spaces because his enemy detection range is so big he will shoot enemies you dont see.
It can get annoying though when the cinematic kill-cam keeps popping up whenever he shoots a fly or some shit.

now play with Freeside Restored mod that restores content cut from the game due to time crunch and console limitations, also makes Freeside 100% open instead of cut up into 4 quadrants separated by loading screens. Also play with mod that increases NCR, Legion and raider gang spawns so the world feels more dangerous and alive. Populated casinos is a good mod too I always found it more immersive with crowded casinos.

Companion Nerve, up to +50% Damage and Damage Resistance on companions, with 10 CHA

It says that it increases companion nerve.

+5% attack damage and armor up to 50% extra with 10 CHA.

Some (like 1 or 2) speech/ barter skill check options aren't available with low CHA, even if you have high enough speech.

The one time I played through on hardcore I went with 8 or 9 END and 9 CHR (I think I also had 9 LCK) tagging speech, barter, and unarmed. I beelined for Veronica. It was by far the easiest play-through I've ever had of New Vegas.

Boone is pretty overpowered as far as companions go, he usually annoys people by constantly shooting at shit you aren't even aware of yet. Honestly just liked the idea of having two godly unarmed characters. Boone would've been a thousand times more effective but I wasn't exactly trying to be optimal.

It was also a Mr. House run. What I did with that run in particular was anytime someone told me to do something, deliver something, kill someone, whatever, I did it. That's why I sided with House, since I was just doing my job as a courier, so anytime someone asked me to do something I would just pretend I was doing my job and anything else would be incorrect. If I got two conflicting orders the first one would trump the second (original employer). Playing through a run like that with Boone wouldn't have lasted very long since the NCR got angry with me fairly early on (I ran into Vulpes at Nipton before heading to Mojave Outpost, so I ended up doing a lot of Legion stuff).

I think that run is tied with my godly explosives and melee Legionnaire female run with Arcade as a reluctant companion for half the playthrough.

He's basically an NCR version of the design docs for Joshua Graham.

HONEST QUESTION
How useful really are support skills like repair, survival, etc? Usually I go for Guns as the "combat" skill, so I end up spending some points in repair to be able to repair the guns by myself. Other than that, I don't really craft a lot of ammo.
Survival I tend to take when I want to play with some stealth. But it takes a lot of points to be able to make actually useful food, most of the food I use I have found in containers.
So the question is, for which kind of playthrough are skills like survival and repair actually important?
