We need more games like Ratchet and Clank.
We need more games like Ratchet and Clank
>inb4 some weirdo talks about Ratchet's feet
Well... you could’ve shut the fuck up, you already ruined the thread, I know it
We definitely need more 3D platformers, and we need more shooters with ridiculous guns. But I think R&C fills the niche of 3D platformers with ridiculous guns.
I certainly wish we could go back to getting Ratchet & Clank games once every two or three years though.
Ratchet & Clank MOBA
Non-Nintendo platformers have been making a comeback these past few years, we'll be there soon again hopefully.
he cute
As long as they're good games like the 2002 one and not bad games like the 2016 one.
Well, Insomniac does have a dedicated R&C studio up North. They're hit and miss. Remake being an example of right in the middle quality, while Nexus is considered the best, and All4One/Q-Force shit.
>and not bad games like the 2016 one
R&C is too small budget for Insomniac's AAA model. They've offloaded the franchise entirely to their B-team in North Carolina since All4One.
The series will never be good again.
>not bad games like the 2016 one
Shittaste right here. The reboot was good, even if it was too short
R&C 2016 was good though.
Reminder that Crack in time is the best one in their series with Deadlocked being a close Second
Barefoot Ratchet is best Ratchet
It was but most people thought it was a step down from the original which they are rightly show but I played the reboot for what it was and enjoyed it
Good but the dialogue is iffy at best
He'd look better without the cap
>crack in time is the best one
I'll have to disagree with yo-
>deadlocked being a close second
eh you get a pass
Series needs a soft reboot, not hard. Here's what they should do
>Next game takes place far after the reboot
>Fame has wained on the duo after years of saving the universe
>Galatic Rangers are completely washed up
>Qwark lives in Ratchet's garage
>Ratchet retains his status and attitude from the PS2 games while acknowledging all the new canon
>Unironically have a Communist villian
>Bring back the bolt pay walls
>Emphasis the importance of currency in the world
>Multiple vendors so you can get weapons from all the games
>PS3 has like 8 ratchet games
>PS4 has one remake
Why?
New PS4 game coming out before PS5 hits the shelves next year
>Why?
3-4 years wasted on Sunset Overcringe and multiple shitty VR games
Also Spider-man
Jak II had better gunplay.
Spyro was always better
R&C2016 sucked. We need more games like the originals, but not this garbage.
VEE-ARE
>Jak II had better gunplay.
I can't imagine the kind of person who would actually unironically believe this.
>dramatically worse controls
>dramatically worse gun variety
>much more limited upgrades
Jak II has its advantages, but holy shit the gunplay is not one of them.
>Jak II had better gunplay.
Insomniac got an Easter egg in Avengers End Game. It's small, but I'm certain it wasn't done by accident. At one point, Rocket is referred to as 'Ratchet' by Tony while repairing a ship.
More importantly, when is the movie sequel coming out?
Lets be real here, only the first 3 are good in any capacitiy.
fucking size matters is better than any of the trash on PS3/4.
Deadlocked is just a shitty 3rd person arena shooter.
Never. It bombed, and unless there was a shit ton of assets left over, the chances of flipping them and making a show is slim. Although, it would be funny if it were on Netflix as an exclusive. Kinda like Animaniacs on Hulu.
size matters was terrible, acit was way better in almost every way
Hopefully, never, unless that's the only way to get a new game
size matters is garbage
ratchet & clank is way overdone. i hope they bury the series. try something new and by new i don't mean adapt comic book things to games or that sunside rollerskaters or whatever the fuck it was. just a new 3d platformer type of thing.
Ratchet and Clank is canon in the Marvel universe. Furries, rise up!
thanks for this thread, anyone know a game that would play like a lovechild of R&C and Borderlands ? I'd ritual sacrifice a newborn for such game.
Only flaw I had with the R&C series is how weapons get EXP by USAGE instead spending exp by farming enemies. why? once a gun is upgraded you never use it again because you got a new one to upgrade, that's kinda sad.
The more time goes on, the more you realize the ps4's R&C was about promoting the movie and the movie alone. And since the movie flopped, evem though the game was a profitable success, it was always just about the movie.
I didn't mind it that much actually, it gave me a reason to use worse weapons. If I could just spend xp I would never use them.
I loved the Infector. It goes BLEURGH!
It does. All the guns in ratchet n clank all do the same job as the next one, unless its something like that water gun that just acts as a tool used for puzzles. The bomb gloves and rocket launchers serve no purpose when you can kill everything with the basic blaster. The level design never puts you in a situation where using any other gun would be viable. You could say this about Jak 3 as well which is why I said Jak 2 since it still has variety in its guns while not having too many to overly complicate things, that and the level design in both 2 and 3 put you in situations where each of the guns are useful. Red and blue for large swarms of enemies, yellow for firefights, and purple for stronger enemies.
The reboot is only "good" because it rips its level design from an already excellent game. But even then it comes with a huge foot note of missing some of the best stages and its "original level design" being mostly hallway shooters. Then of course the shit idea of shoving movie scenes in there made it feel really half assed.
OH NO NO NO... Futurefags, rebootbros.
boards.fireden.net
You do realize the entire point is to swap between weapons and utilitze them for certain situations, right? The basic pistol weapons almost immediately become outdone by virtually any other weapon. You use the bombs for AoE and massive damage, you use the shotgun for groups and massive damage up close, you use Buzz Blades for decent damage and richochet, you use turrets to lock down enemies from afar for addition DPS, you use the Zurkons like you would turrets, you use the dancing weapons throughout the various games to immobilize enemies for lengths of time, you use the rocket launcher for long range bomb damage, and so on.
The fact that you think Jak II is good in any merit is disgusting let alone in the gun department.
Literally nothing you wrote is true. Let's think about just a few of the weapons in the original game.
>Bomb Glove
Good for attacking groups of enemies at short-mid range. Useless elsewhere.
>Pyrocitor, Walloper.
Good for attacking swarms of enemies at short range, especially at your sides and behind you. Useless at mid to long range.
>Blaster
A good all rounder, but not really exceptional at anything.
>Mine glove, Taunter
Good for setting traps and abusing the environment like on Orxon or Battalia. Useless otherwise.
>Devastator
Good for clearing out enemies at mid-long range, too long to set up at close range and too expensive to use otherwise.
>Visibomb Gun, Tesla Claw
Easy mode, except it's fucking expensive and only viable late game. You'll only afford one of these, and that's if you've been saving up the whole game and you also skipped the second health upgrade on Orxon.
Pretty much every gun serves a different purpose and even the ones which don't are radically different in how they actually feel to use.
Now if you're talking about the reboot I'd agree with you, because the weapons in that game are fucking boring. Every firefight boils down to "pick the one with the most ammo and the least xps, then spam strafe and shoot". Because the weapon design in that game sucks. But throughout the PS2 games the weapon variety was excellent.
>the reboot bombed super hard
>we'll never got a continuation of the original story
>Ratchet and Clank will never go on more bro-tastic adventures
>Ratchet will never pass by another 3 potential love interests
>Clank will never fix the Dimensionator
>we'll never find out what happened to Orvus
>we'll never get another game without Zurkon
Feels bad, man.
The only weapon you need in Jak 2 is the yellow one until you run out of ammo.
jump + spin kick + yellow gun is literally all you need 95% of the game, only that segment where dropships spawn gorillions of crimson guards after getting some Dark power is the only instance you need the Vulcan.
>the reboot bombed super hard
Do you have any substantial proof(s) to back up your claim?
I just want more bright and cartoony games about incredible amounts of particle effects and things blowing into small pieces.
>the reboot bombed super hard
gamerevolution.com
The only game to even top it is Spider-man.
I don't get why they press the jumpsuit look so much on him now. His old outfit was great.
New game was ass. Even though the PS3 trilogy kinda smoothed out his edge a little it was still there. The new one cut off his balls for that Disney money.
Does Sony now hate R&C as much as Ape Escape?
I really want to emulate the ps3 games, too bad the emulator isn't progressing fast
>spyro was always better
The only thing Spyro does well is dialogue. The characters are entertaining but that's it.
The gameplay is too bland and languid to be fun, outside of some some sidequest minigames in the second and third. And the music may as well not be there. Easily the worst Sony mascot platformer.
>Thread has reminded me how much dumb fun Secret Agent Clank was for some reason
I really hope the series isn't gone the way of Jak. Both the series need more games
>the music may as well not be there
The music is very similar to R&C1's music. It's great. It's ironic you posted Crashshit and call Spyro the worst Sony mascot platformer.
youtube.com
Wow, okay then nevermind. The movie was so horrible I assumed the game followed suit but looks like at least there might be a future for the series. Not one I like, butt at least it'll exist.
Is it seriously so much to ask? It probably is.
Both series ran their course. There's nothing more that can be done with either, really.
SAC is the worst in the series though, even worse than FFA and A4O. Pretty much every aspect of it is terrible, the only thing even good is the humor.
That's why I said stupid fun, gameplay doesn't hold up but the characters and humor are top tier R&C. Can still remember most of Quark's opera off the top of my head
>up North
no one considers North Carolina "up north"
don't let the name fool you, they fought for the South
The Virgin Basedro vs The Chad Bandicoot
I WANT THE OLD SWINGSHOT MECHANICS BACK.
WHY DOES NO ONE TALK ABOUT THIS?
>wanting old school movement mechanics
no fun allowed user!
All I want for the old games is a mod that makes it so the D-pad can be used to quick swap to gadgets like the swing shot and just putting the hacking mini game stuff on context sensitive button presses like the Future games.
Don't you literally just drop when you let go in the new ones? What the fuck were they thinking?
Ape Escape is better
nice
Nah, we need more grit
Get out.
>Uncharted 4/LL has better swinging than Insomniac's cartoony furry and superhero open world games
Among Insomniac and Sucker Punch, Naughty Dog won the last three gens and they're so far winning this one
We need more pictures of Ratchet's bare feet
