THUG2 is the peak of tony hawk games gameplay wise. Everything surrounding the gameplay is where it suffers.

Thug 1 was fucking garbage compared to the others - the only "new" thing it had was being off the board and that was stupid.
It was a lot of kid's first TH game in the same vein that 2 was so it's "the best" despite 4 and THUG 2 being the best mechanically speaking

THUG1 is trash for nostalgiafags who only care about story in a skateboarding game. It's structurally a shitty game too. Too much walking around, driving leafblowers and vehicles. It doesn't even have an arcade mode.

It was the mode that introduced classic mode: two minutes to do goals or just get the highest score

While it is arguably the third worse in the series (THPS1, AW, this), it didn't suck completely as it did give us classic mode

THUG > THAW > THP8 > THPS3 > THPS4 > THUG2 > THMG > THPS1

4 is mechanically perfect, but the levels suck.
