DMC3 is still better
This
Tips and tricks for playing through the HD Collection? Mods I should download?
Started with the first game. I just beat Phantom on his first encounter
No it's not.
and it's my favorite game
3 has some poor spots, but better high points.
it's no masterpiece
But 5 has a pretty consistent high the entire game. It's kinda like comparing Dark Souls to Bloodborne. One had extreme highs but really fucking low lows and the other was just kinda consistently good the entire time.
Nah, 5 is gray and has V.
Bloodborne has greater highs than Dark Souls though
It is on, chaps!

V is this game's version of gameplay variety, he replaces all the shitty half thought out Resident Evil fetch quests and awful puzzles with what the series is actually about, combat, but a completely different, yet familiar playstyle. Try unlocking all of V's moves first before calling him shit.
dmc 3 is also very grey. And dmc 5 has a totally unique if not a little undercooked character, what a shame
Also he's forced on only 4 missions as opposed to the other two which has 6-7 missions to themselves
Oh wow, hallways, such an upgrade form Resident Evil....
I'm not talking about variety in level design, but game design entirely. Instead of gimmick shit, for example, 4's dice game, 5's variety is in the form of V. He's not meant to be his own entirely fleshed out character, but just an extra thing to spice the game up.
DMC3 is the only game I didn't play in the series (DmC not included of course)
at the time it seemed edgy and tryhard
why is it so praised?
Nah, V is shit and DMC 5 is MUCH more gray than 3. The tower in 3 actually had some cool-looking rooms and unique settings. 5 is literally just gray ruins, gray tunnels, and gray Qlipoth.
>V is shit
okay so why, when you look at him as a gameplay variety instead of his own fleshed out character he's great
It's DMC you dumb nigger, anything outside combat is waste of resources and time. fans actively asked the devs to take out all puzzles and platforming out of the game so they did
Retards like you are why we get shit like nuGoW where they turned a decent pure action game into just another open world action rpg with fucking purple and gold loot. Seeing Kratos "level up" made me genuinely cringe and showed me the depths of AAA game development.
The day they do that to DMC will be the day I kill myself.
>it seemed edgy and tryhard
user, stop shitposting and just play the best game in the series.
>4's dice game
That was literally made to pan the game out. It was unfinished and they had to somehow make it seem longer than it really is.
>5's variety is in the form of V. He's not meant to be his own entirely fleshed out character, but just an extra thing to spice the game up.
There's nothing "extra" about forcing you to play as him. If they gave you an option to use him or Nero/Dante for every mission then I'd agree with you.
>anything outside combat is waste of resources and time
Spoken like a true retard whose first DMC was either 4 or 5 and doesn't know shit about the RE origins of the series.
By your retarded logic, anything that's not Bloody Palace is just wasted resources. Also 5's Bloody Palace still has that retarded timer AND IT STILL DOESN'T HAVE A PROPER TURBO MODE.
How can you defend that?
If you want just pure combat over and over then you can play the bloody palace, most people want at least a little bit of variety to break things up while playing. Just because they overdid it sometimes doesn't mean they had to rip it out entirely.
>RE origins
yes the shit that literally no DMC fan cares about and actively dislikes, even in DMC3
>play bloody palace.
WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU THINK ACTUAL FANS DO.
Nobody fucking plays through the campaign after finishing it on all difficulties once. Even when we do, its these dumb puzzle and platforming sections and muh ""downtime"" that are the most boring of them all.
You morons are unironically only proving me right.
You fucks are NOT dmc fans. you are casuals who play the games once or twice and then move to the next game.
DMC5 focused on making a game for people who will be playing it for years constantly so shut the fuck up
>the shit that literally no DMC fan cares about and actively dislikes
Okay, you're just a shitposter and no one should really waste their time on you.
Have a last (You) and kill yourself.
>anything that's not Bloody Palace is just wasted resources
fans still care about the characters and story moron
>AND IT STILL DOESN'T HAVE A PROPER TURBO MODE
blame that on this gen consoles being weak as fuck. Turbo mode exists on PC. They didn't give it officially because they cant make one version of the game just better than its console counterparts. Once the next gen starts they will do a rerelease which is how they always did. Not a single DMC game had turbo on launch you fuck
Plenty of people liked it, you just think otherwise because crybabies like you were always so much louder. This is pretty obvious considering that people HAVE complained about how they took it all out in 5. But no, keep going on about how REAL fans hate it just because you do.
Did you even read my post you fuckhead?
stop living in a bubble. Itsuno literally said that they removed all that due to fan demand and due to input from young devs in the internal dev team who were fans of the franchise.
but sure keep being a retard.
@459276737
"fans"
Capcom should just make Bloody Palace for the combotards and stop wasting money on actual missions. DMC fans are obviously retards with no interest in playing complete video games.
Did you? what did your dumb brain fail to understand?
Go back to school and learn some reading comprehension you single digit IQ brainlet.
they did and its called the void
>gets shut down
>n-n-no but you stupid
hahaha fuck off you child. keep believing that you are right when everyone thinks you're retarded
I would unironically pay them money if all they did was add new characters, new bosses, new enemies and weapons to 5.
It's just some rabid 4fag who probably also thinks the game is ruined because they removed inertia.
>call 5 the best in the series
>argue with the retard who wants shitty puzzles like 3 back and thought that was the best
>mUsT bE a 4 fAg
ARE YOU ACTUALLY FUCKING RETARDED YOU ILLITERATE WASTE OF OXYGEN.
1 > 3 > 5 > 4 = 2
Literally the only thing worth playing in 4 was the BP for combo autism, hence the assumption. People who defend 4 usually do so by insisting that pure combat is literally the only thing that ever mattered anyway.
5 > 4 > 1 > 3
Gameplay
5 > 3 > 4 > 1 > 2
Story
3 > 5 > 1 > 4 > 2
All around
5 >= 3 > 4 > 1 > 2
based but switch 1 and 4 in all around
Yeah that varies between people. I just put 4 > 1 because 4 was my second DMC the first being 3 and it has a special place on my heard
>heart
Fix'd
I'm one of those fags but I still wouldn't call DMC4 good because it is filled with absolutely garbage enemy types and bosses. And so was 3 for that matter albeit much less than 4.
Which is precisely why I think 5 is the best there is.
I'm puzzled as to why anyone would want back 3's 50 different items you had to fetch and deliver to another place just to progress
The game is fun and all, but the camera is fucking horseshit, going up and down whenever it wants to. Also, the classical shit level design of being able to go left or right, left continuing the level without you being able to go back.
Because some light puzzle/exploration is nice to let your brain relax in between fights and think about a slightly different kind of gameplay for a bit, especially when fights become so intense on higher difficulties. You make it sound like it was a huge waste of time between fights but it really wasn't much. It was already toned down from DMC1 and usually just meant a slight diversion from the main path and lead to a new fight anyway. Very minor but just enough to give a bit of breathing room between fights that's not just walking down a hallway.
What I don't get is why people were so bothered by it, aside from the dice games and maybe a few other things I never felt annoyed by it.
Do environments really not matter to you guys? 3 wasn't perfect, but exploring a massive tower that summons the demon world was way cooler than exploring a bunch of shitty gray ruing and gray blob areas in 5.
How can you not care about the visuals in a game you're looking at for 50 hours?
3 has too many shit bosses and enemies that outweigh the great ones. 5 has a very consistent quality of both.
Yeah it sounds like neat design and a pretty safe addition to spice things up but get it wrong just a tiny little bit and becomes a permanent THAT BIT stain on the game. This is why 4 veterans who have played the game for several years literally only play 2 missions and bloody palace, because the rest is filled with nonsense crap like the dice game or the teleporting platforms or just having to run around a place you've already done multiple times already.
Why did you even bring out grayness when in 3 you are pretty much inside stone walls.
Well I won't defend 4's garbage stuff anyway like the dice or platforming or the Savior, and even 3 wasn't perfect or anything (now that I think of it mission 15 was kinda annoying until you knew a clear route through it) but I still think it was an overall positive thing in 3 at least. In 5 if you're skipping the cutscenes it almost just ends up making the game feel like a BP lite, although being forced to switch characters (which I know some people hate but I'm personally ok with it) adds some variation at least.
I see your point and I'm not necessarily advocating for hallways. The game could at least used some different locations but I imagine most of the development time went into the 3 characters and their devil arms and breakers and massive amount of moves as well as the vast amount of enemies and bosses in the game. Not to mention making sure all these factors interact with eachother properly. In that sense, if they were to tack on some gimmicky level design it could end up just being trash regardless and we'd be here just saying the level design in this game is ass as opposed to non-existent.
>when you don't look at this mandatory new character as a mandatory new character he's great
what
also no, he's unfun, varying up the gameplay experience still has to be enjoyable
It's got greater highs but DaS is higher on average. Except Lost Izalith and Demon Ruins. That's the lowest of the low.
