Honestly, go in to the character creator and just pick random on the appearance until something jumps out at you. Double back and pick the powers/origin to match. Then fine tune the look. That's what I did.

Peacebringers are the closest thing to a Magetank, but you're stuck with light powers. Blasters can take ranged attack powers and melee attack powers, but they can't use a mace.

If you want to do some combination of Mace/Electricity, a Tanker or Brute with War Mace/Electric Armor is your best bet as far as I'm aware.

Nearly all powersets combos are playable. Some are better than others though. The only thing that can really mess you up is the enhancement slots. Add a slot to a power you arent using when you level up and you are stuck with it unless you burn a respec.

Learned this the hard way when the game launched. I slotted Brawl. Yes, you may laugh. I deserve it.

Go with anything that kills things to start, acquire currency and loot. The only thing that actually requires building your character right is very late endgame content if you want to solo it, and rerolling a new character and leveling them to max is not hard, especially once the architect system is working.

CoH is the best example of a game of its genre. There aren't any metas or gear to grind out. No rotatations to memorize, no extremely difficult endgame that requires committing to a guild (super group) as though it were a second job in order to take park in.

Every class and power set works for just about everything from start to end game. Some are better at soloing than others. You won't find any gate keeping in this community. Be whatever you want and have fun with it, that's what the game has always been about and that's what made it so great.

There seems to be a lot of people that have never played this that are interested. For them, I would advise just wait.

These servers are under heavy load and they're still working the kinks out. Give it a week or two. If you only get to poke around in the tutorial with one or two powers, it'll leave a pretty dull impression.

Which to can function perfectly well without. IO Set enhancements for example were only really needed if you wanted to PvP. Otherwise you'd be absolutely fine with regular invention enhancements. I never became too familiar with the incarnate system as I left shortly before CoH went free to play.

As far as I can tell those things are there to give you an extra goal to achieve, another milestone to further increase your power, but they really aren't necessary at all if you aren't a min-maxing autist.

I really wish that was the case, so that we could quicken the process and openly hang trannies like you.

no, I remember distinctly that Back Alley Brawler (the dev) said whips were a pain in the ass to animate and consider.

noteably we didn't get even demon-summoning whips until after he left.

That said, the annoying part is several NPCs gained whip powers in later updates (admittedly mostly reskins of the demon summoning one) and players were still stuck with demon summoning.

Same thing happened for dual pistols originally being a Thugs MM exclusive for about... two or three years.

It's great being a power freedom advocate, but that would just be broken, like first Issues broken, where you could stack enhancements without soft caps and you could create a literal Wolverine with regeneration, regenerating health so fast that you could solo the highest difficulty and nothing could kill you.

The limiters the coders tried to put in place were not working, this means there is currently no population limit to the server.
Current Server Stats:
600+ active connections
400+ were trying to connect while the server was still up

As of right now the server is offline and is being moved to a new cluster, this means it will be offline until we get the new cluster up and running. The talk around the water cooler is that this new cluster should be better optimized than the previous one. So more of you should be able to get once it is up, this should also provide a more stable experience for those who do get in.

What archetype to make a Riddick character?

Because it was one of the focuses of the game, creating your own hero (villain) with as much freedom as you could without breaking anything.

Limiting the body to 3 types really helped to not fill the game with Aion Atrocities and eased the graphical work.

yes, there's a fair number around and about. especially under atlas.

If you do base, then hero classes go for heroes and villain classes go for villains
if you choose Rogue then you'll be able to choose after you do the loyalist vs resistance stuff.

Black and red can still work for an imposing character without being outright villainous, especially if you mix in other colours to brighten things up/break up the monotony
