Tried Pagan Online, hated it.
Now I want to play a proper arpg again. What would Yea Forums recommend?

What's so bad about it? I was thinking of giving it a try
>Pagan Online
Looks a bit like LoL to me.
Grim Dawn just got a new expansion.
If it wasn't trash i'd play it. For all the optimal builds you end up using 1 or 2 skills max, the rest are auras and passives. Enjoy your 1 button pressing gameplay.
>but you haven't played it
I played it for 112h during vanilla and the game is shit, it took me long enough to realize it.
The ARPG genre is dead, PoE is for autists and jews, Diablo 3 is for kids, Lost Ark is chink garbage and it ain't even a real ARPG, Torchlight Frontiers is on an unplayable status, what a fucking pile of shit of pre alpha.
the game has no mtx (yet), but has a whole system with currency and lootboxes and shit resembling an f2p game.
Also it's published by the World of Tank fags, and you can see bad the mxt are in that game.
Online only singleplayer.
It also has lootboxes, character unlocking and unlockable skins which reek of MTX down the line.
the hellsing games are alright
victor vran if you want a little more a in your arpg
Path of Exile is fun even if the current league is pretty bad. But even so, you could just avoid interacting with the league mechanics and focus on the core game.
The problem with Path of Exile is that at endgame the core stops being an ARPG and turns into a trading simulator.
In most of these games you end up spamming just one skill, because it's easier to buff up just one to the point of relevance.
You can try Tower of Time, though it's a bit different. You control a party instead of one character and move through an overworld, but combat is real-time with a slow down if you need it.
Yeah, that I can agree on. I do wish PoE wasn't as trade and grinding reliant, because the actual game parts of it is really fun.
Tower of Time is a completely different genre, it's an RTwP tactics based RPG.
Still a fun game, if you like that sort of stuff Aarklash Legacy is similar and also pretty good.
I haven gotten to try POE yet, but whenever I see streams there is just 1 player jumping around spamming skills.
Is there little to no party systems to fight bosses in it?
I have finished Aarklash. Would you call Twoer of Time RTwP even though it only features extreme slowdown?
SSF BTW
I agree that the game turns into a trading simulator, but that is the appeal to many people. Trading currencies, finding items you don't need but someone else might need, etc. It makes the grinding fun.
Nothing, PoE or Grim Dawn probs the least sucky sucky
>Would you call Twoer of Time RTwP even though it only features extreme slowdown?
Absolutely, the slowdown is so massive it might as well be a pause. Also it's handled much better than for example pillars of eternity.
In Pillars you either don't pause at all at lower difficulties or pause every second at the higher difficulties which completely misses the point of RTwP.
In ToT you pause/slow down at key moments to better use your resources and dodge effects which feels much better, aarklash felt the same way to me.
You can group up, it's just not common for random people to do it unless it's for some specific reason, like doing rotations or xp leeching.
But there are guilds that do more group oriented stuff or you could play with friends.
But then I don't get to play with a lot of the cool interactions from gear.
Difficulty is handled much better than pillars imo.
>finding items you don't need but someone else might need
Which is all you will find, which made the game a chore for me at endgame.
The droprates are so poor you will never get what you want for your build and when you finally get that god drop you won't use it anyway because it's better to sell it and buy multiple pieces of cheaper gear.
It means that everything you drop might as well be currency, literally. If all that dropped in PoE was currency and you had to equip yourself by only buying things then PoE wouldn't change that much.
None of my endgame characters with complete builds had a single equipped item that i dropped on them, apart from gems and flasks.
