It depends on the type of speedrunner. Nowadays speedrunning has become synonymous with glitching/cheating, so the aspect of “getting gud” is no longer required, so it attracts all sorts of degenerate types who not only feel fine with cheating a game but also want to be lauded for it. That kind of constant praise for degeneracy would go to anyone’s head over time and would bleed into their real life activities as well where they will want to “cheat” real life as well and be praised for it.

Their exposure in comparison to their overall representation in the speedrunning community has made it look like an out of control problem. Really it's just ProtoMagicalGirl trying to worm representation into GDQ.

As for why they seem to have more in the first place, my theory is that since speedrunning is a field almost completely devoid of women, some men step up to become women in their place.

I think it's the community. I used to speedrun before twitch and livestreaming was a thing - we'd all just share strategies and route ideas in a forum. There wasn't any mention of any LGBT stuff during that time as it was unnecessary. I fell out of speedrunning as streaming became a thing, and now it seems pretty common.

Rookie liberalism thinking that just blindly pushing causes will get what you want combined with a predisposition for mental issues and other problematic behavior.
