Now that it's out on Switch...
Eh.
It's okay, but not the best thing ever.

Do you have S rank on all bosses & P rank on all run & gun stages? If not, shut the fuck up.
Do you suck dicks?
Who doesn't?
Not the best thing ever/10
>Hurr you have to 100% the game to criticize it!
It's not as good as Contra III. How's that?
i always die because i'm admiring the cute background art
Not the ever.
Not as good as Contra 3.
This is a slippery slope of exceptionalism.
Not as good as Shovel Knight - though the difficulty of Cuphead is fun, I prefer a game with real stages
played it a year ago on pc, haven't played a game more fun since
I give it a really fun/10
Spotted the retard
Faggot.
It's very hit or miss. Especially when you were expecting more run and gun levels.
>You need to 100% a game to have an opinion on it
Given the idea that the game first presented to me that you can cheese with some bullet upgrades after a while, no, I won't take your opinion seriously. If children are capable of beating it, there's definitely a way to cheese it, even more when you realize current generation can't even into NES games, who were admittedly bullshit hard for the sake of making a short experience lengthier.
Cuphead is a good example of how much good art and music can elevate a game. Like, it's a bog standard 2D shooter but the music is great and it looks so good in motion that it's comfy just playing it.
Are the achievements the same as the ones on the Xbox?
>It's not as good as one of the greatest games of the genre, so it's bad.
hot argument
This is why it bugs me when people treat a game's music as a seperate element. The music of a video game is literally part of the game itself, and one of the most important qualities.
It's hard but not Dark Souls hard. I'm disappointed tbqh.
This is very true. The Mega Drive Sonic games would be complete garbage if it wasn't for the great music.
Holy fuck, why do people nowadays type like dismissive passive-aggressive faggots? Fuck me
Play Contra Hard Corps. Preferably the American version.
I had a lot of fun with it. Story games and ones that are purely skill/execution challenges are hard to mix. But this game did a fine job of the latter.
I agree 100% with your opinion.
I will say though, it laid on the videogame references and homages way too thick. They've got immense artistic talent, they need to be less pastiche and more original.
youtu.be
It's style over substance.
because it's cool I guess
>I will say though, it laid on the videogame references and homages way too thick.
I've only really seen the SF and DQ references, there's WAY more references to fleischer if anything. Like, some characters are almost ripped straight from them entirely.
>Especially when you were expecting more run and gun levels.
You've had over a year to figure that one out.
Pretty enjoyable from what I played. As long as you weren't a fucking idiot expecting Contra levels like anyway.
I have noticed one weird thing though. Maybe 5% of the time when I retry a boss, there's this weird jittery effect in the animation. But (so far) it always goes away with the next retry and there's pretty much no loading once you've started the boss fight, so it's not a big deal.
