I bought MLB The Show 19 and I'm having fun with it. Plenty of good offline single player content with Road to the Show, March to October, and franchise modes. Haven't looked into Diamond Dynasty (the ultimate team mode) but from what I've heard, it is actually possible to build a good team without paying anything.

you can turn off all the presenting shit (replays/walk ups) and change the pitching/batting interface to be simple if you don't like the simulation aspects. there's also that retro mode which is kind of silly. but yeah, the days of slugfest and the bigs are long gone :(

I enjoy it. Fun to play through a season or go all in on franchise. You can get real autismo with the management stuff (down to things like prices at the concession stands) or just let the AI handle it if that's not your cup of tea. Haven't really messed with much else on there but I think it has a 3 on 3 mode which sounds fun.

Nah, runs up the gut barely worked. Sweeps were OP. Slants were OP. Passes were dropped way too often despite the game feeling some how more realistic and more arcadey than Madden 05.

I liked the crib and being able to customize nearly everything but the gameplay was so lacking when compared to how smooth Madden was. The franchise mode wasn't as good either IMO.

It's a simulation game, so it's in a niche genre, but Football Manager doesn't have micro-transactions in the full version of the game.
The smaller version does have some, but only two of them are actually relevant for the game and both can be unlocked in normal gameplay anyway.

2k sports released an arcade-style basketball game recently, called NBA backyard, I believe. I loved NBA JAM and NBA on NBC by Midway was the last game I've played close to it.
