I don't know how much the rest of you know about Japanese culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in America where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you screw someone over in Japan, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.
What this means is the japanese developers, after hearing about this, are not going to want to develop games for PS4, nor will they support the PS5. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Sony has destroyed decades of goodwill with third parties with this move.
Sony should publicly apologize and cancel this policy or they can kiss their business goodbye.

You won't "know" this happen. A game will just be released as a Switch exclusive, the devs won't come out and say "We didn't release it on PS4 because of the extra cost required."
