Test

From Soft pre 2013 when they weren't the Souls company.

Don't act like you were a fan of From Software faggot. Nobody gave a shit about them when they were making King's Quest

I meant King's Field

I mean three companies being decent at something is already pretty fucking good. Entire genres these days have been brought down to one company running a monopoly, if they're lucky.

I've been playing their shit since 2002, dude.

been playing armored core since 2 faggot go fuck yourself

I've been a fan of From soft since the first Armored Core back in 1997.
I was fuckin 8 man.

Because it takes experience, work, and an understanding of certain design principles.

You know, Enchanted Arms was alright. Title menu was nice but not a trace of that motif was anywhere else until the ending, and the game came with a short manga as a prelude.

>From
>tight action

Platinum has never made a good game. Mediocre button mashers at best. And as far as "tight" goes, From wouldn't know the word if they tripped over it, all their gameplay is slow and clunky with broken hitboxes out the ass. Granted that's part of the appeal, but "tight" is not the word to describe it.

Also they have themes that they excel at and focus on instead of trying to constantly make shit that they have no experience in.
Capcom is known as the Westaboo of the gaming industry. They love Western ideas but use Japanese development methods and styling to make their games. They stopped making good games once Inafune suggested they let westerners make the games. Then when they finally went back to their old ways they started pumping out hit after hit.
Platinum is all about them action games.
From Soft makes Souls and Armored core and once in a grand while they experiment with shit like 3D Dot Heroes.

Hey, Otogi was the shit.

Yeah they were the Armored Core company.

From made a ton of games on the side while they were making Armored Cores, including Demon's Souls. A lot of them were pretty fun in their own right too.

see
Oh man, check out Deracine guys, the only side project they made in 6-7 years.

>tfw platinum haven't made a Sonic Hack n' slash yet.

fuck off nigger I been playing From games since 2004

>platinum
>From
>tight action

Back when From made AC maybe.

Why are all good games made by Japan? Why can the entire Western world made up of 30+ countries not beat a single island nation?

Nigga I've been with them since Otogi 2. Doubt that most of the zoomer population of this board even knows that game exists.

God of War (maybe not the new one) is pretty tight.

Because Japan doesn't try to substitute gameplay with a political agenda.
And the farthest they ever go with some sort of message is "War bad, Religious zealots bad, Mamoru good".

Nobody plays makes action games anymore. The trend is more open world shooters and fps. When you get an action game it usually plays like Bamham

How does that pertain to the combat system?

That Western devs don't put effort into thier game because they are tasked to put that effort into meaningless shit while Japanese devs care only about the game part of a video game so they focus on perfecting it.

>no Shadow Tower
>no Demons' Souls
Okay, bud.

It's a long tradition that started since early 90s or late 80s. I will say Japanese action game's origin can be found in beat'-em-up and fighting games that flourished during 90s, which old capcom was really good at making. therefore, it is not coincidence that capcom's action games were/have been recognized as the industry's standard.

Even though some western action games have caught up with Japanese counter parts with recently offering some good games, such GOW, spider-man, by studying and incorporating Japanese action game's technique and strong points into their games.

As for example: the conception of HIT-STOP. The idea that characters "freeze" when they attack the opponents is originated from fighting games, and I think which was supposedly influenced by the existence of Anime that actively utilize the technique of "limited animation". You cannot ignore the strong relationship between manga/anime and games in Japanese media, and how they have influenced each others. Japanese action games have been using this technique since 90s, and recently western action games have also incorporated this into their games, like GOW did.

TLDR: Japanese focused more on action games than the west thanks to the big boom of fighting games and beat'tm up that were prevailing in 90s, and their media also encouraged these kinds of action games to more develop.

Imagine if From made a kings quest spinoff

>such GOW, spider-man,
