Yahtzee constantly sucks dick about it, though he says it has 0 replay value.

papers please is better but you'll probably like that too

it's fantastic (as long as you aren't a brainlet), have fun

Just watched GrimBeard's video on it
Looks like a decent walking simulator with an intriguing story, but still, like any walking simulator, is not worth more than 10 bucks for me so I'll wait for a better sale

>walking simulator
This isn't Gone Home, retard. It's a puzzle game.

It's alright

obra dinn is as much a walking simulator as talos principle or portal are

>puzzle game
It's a Walking simulator with "even a 5 year old can do it" puzzles, don't kid yourself

You didn't even play the game you retard.

9/10 game desu

I think the first half of the game where you're uncovering everything is brilliant, but the second half where you're treading over the same content trying to figuring everything out can get tiresome. Maybe I'm just retarded but the way the game was paced could have been better. It was a bit too open-ended for my liking.

Good purchase, it's an amazing game. It doesn't have any replay value whatsoever but it's one hell of a ride.

This.
It's probably amazing, OP

The game started so easy I was waiting when is the "detective" part kicking in. Then get the last obscure ones by just trying the last combinations. Meh.

>too open ended
nah, should've not made you watch events in forcerd order and make you figure it out by yourself.

the later parts when you're going back over the list is mostly tiresome because of the large amount of crew that have only one tiny bit of decisive information. i feel like it could have been spread out a bit better.

>It's a Walking simulator with "even a 5 year old can do it" puzzles, don't kid yourself

This is the second most complex puzzle game of this generation.

Who?

I must be pretty damn stupid because I only thought the first three at the start were blatantly easy.

Otherwise I'm clueless half of the time when I'm suddenly notified that I should be able to identify certain people regardless of whether or not another actual name was mentioned.

it's a walking simulator with added paperwork.

Accents, clothes and hammocks help a lot

Excellent detective game

Except it's not a detective game. If you go into it expecting a detective game, then you will be very disappointed.

Replay value is a buzzword anyway

Good choice. Extremely comfy game.

How isn't it? You explore the scenes of incidents using observations and inductive reasoning to discover what happened

This is one of the few unironically 110 IQ or above games

but you get shown exactly what happened. The only challenge is putting the right names to the right faces.
The magic time travelling pocket watch makes it not a detective game.

Sussing out the names is the detective work. You are given partial evidence and typically require multiple pieces from different scenes to figure out the crew

Would having a chemical analyzer or crime database invalidate a more contemporary detective setting in your eyes?

No it isn't.

I wanted to like the game, but when I realized that I was going to have to tediously backtrack through half the dioramas a second time to pick up the last of the clues I lost all interest and just completed it.
The dioramas from corpses idea was a good idea in theory, but absolutely abysmal for the level of detecting they wanted you to do.
Also, not being able to recognize half the characters from the features of their models was pretty bullshit when you're trying to find that one guy in a scene of 20.

>Game with no multiplayer features
>Paying money for it
Get a load of this buyfag over here

The second game I ever pirated. The first was Baba is You. I'm gonna have to buy both when they go on sale.

Why is this labelled "a French man"?

In the game he's referred to as that by his mate which is also a clue to figuring out his fate

But I already figured out he was the New Guinea guy, no?

see that guy ripped in two first hand in a scene
next scene hear guy ask for his frenchman and hear the frenchman
it is a very common mistake lots of people made

Because almost everyone who played this game had him labeled as that at one point because one of the earliest clues you get is that a french man was torn in half by the beast and you see this guy torn in half early on

Oh yeah, I remember I made that mistake at first too
Wew, I guess I'm the dunce's dunce

The game tries to fuck you up by having that scene where they talk about the frenchman, even though that guy is not the frenchman. The frenchman doesn't actually die in any of the dioramas.
It's made even worse because the guy who made the game obviously has no clue about what people from PNG look like or how they construct their tattoos.

Spoken like a true faggot who watches Youtubers instead of playing games.

Exactly, I actually had him as a Welshman at first just because...well, he looks so fucking Celtic.
Having said that, if he had darker skin he would look pretty PNG

the game tells you which people are present in which scene though. and the models are all pretty uniquely recognizable except for some of the foreigners which I feel was intentional

Replay value means next to nothing in an era where I can barely bring myself to finish the average new game.

So what filter do you guys use? I'm using original (mac) for now.
I love how the music's so cheerful and peaceful and unsettling all at the same time.

Unless he's a half breed he would not have the sort of hair and beard he does and if he was a half-breed then he would not have been accepted by the tribe. Also those tattoos look nothing like the style of tribal tattoos that his alleged ethnicity create.
The dev obviously didn't even google that ethnicity before he made the character, which fucks up anyone who knows anything about it.

The frenchman is "present" in the scene, but he's one of the blacked out guys off in the distance and what he allegedly dies of isn't represented in the scene.

There's a lot of ways to figure out that Frenchman at least, you don't have to go off just that one scene.

Enjoyable enough but you really should be allowed to skip or speed things up. A lot of time I've seen all there is to see and have to stand around get to the next part. Then shit like a memory leads to a body and you can't just go into the next memory you gotta walk back to the last ones start wait for the watch then walk back, just redundant

I agree that the walking around needed to be toned down. Once you view a memory you should be able to just view it again from a menu without having to walk back to it or go into another memory to access it.
