Not sure where they'll take 12 or when we'll get it.
11 mixed things up a bit but despite that I often saw people describe it as "just another megaman game".
So not sure how much they can change things up without stepping on another sub series toes.
Also got to avoid over saturation. I think they'll tackle the other series in the frachise before they go back to another classic entry.
Most are betting on an X9 (I am too) but after that it's still pretty uncertain.

What big differences does 11 bring though? The Weapon Wheel and Double Gears are alright, good additions to the formula, but they don't really change a whole lot, at least from my perspective. I liked 11, more than most of the Classic series, but Capcom needs to go further if they want the series to stay relevant.

There's no way Capcom is ever bridging the gap between Classic and X. The tone shift is too jarring and it would more than likely mean an end to the Classic series, the most recognizable part of the franchise. The rest could work though.

I would unironically play a Mega Man game that shamelessly ripped off the Protomen's conceptualization of the universe and plopped Mega Man in a collapsing dystopia. Make it kind of like a Mega Man themed inFamous gameplaywise in that you're a powerful entity in an open city that gets new abilities over the course of the game, but still preserve the ability to do the 8 bosses in any order.
I love the classic style MM games but there's no reason they couldn't keep making them while still trying some new things with the IP. Hell, even that FPS they were considering a couple years back sounded cool. I just want more Mega Man, man.

I mean you're arguing for symmetry but I'd say the lack of asymmetry is what really doesn't make sense. Mega Man is concerned about stopping the evil schemes going on. He doesn't girt his teeth and use 1/4th his dialogue to insult Bass and proclaim how he will defeat him. Bass should be driving towards a completely different goal in his 'stories'.

Mostly lurking in BN threads when they pop up. I'm a big fan of the platform Megaman games and played all of the mainline games. I tried BN1 and 2 a couple of years ago but couldn't get into them. A collection would give me an excuse to try them out again and at the very least, give me another chance to try them out.

If you ever do play em, I recommend trying out BN2 first. The first one aged poor;y because it was sorta still in an experimental stage. 2 refines a lot of what makes the series so good and everything after that pretty much does the same.
