It will be shit.

Watch some of the LPs that are available on YouTube. It's good, but sorely needs more content. Good for about 20 hours.

>You can make it not shit by spending 200 not-shit mana

>Game has Rome in title
>under 100 senators
> 1 consul
Also eastern europe looks barren as fuck

Attached: 1554409585140.jpg (444x322, 23K)

>eastern europe looks barren as fuck
Have you been to Eastern Europe?

spend 300 admin to core not shit province

>Also eastern europe looks barren as fuck
Eastern Europe was barren as fuck in this era, the Scandinavians had barely gotten out of the Bronze Age by the game start.

I thought places around kiev were populated. were they not ?

Yea I have actually
There's a thousand tribes in western Europe but they can't be bothered to put some goths or some fucking Huns

I'm worried about replayability, I can only imagine playing as Rome, Carthage, and the Alexander successor kingdoms. The thousand tiny one-province tribes in gaul and spain look like they would be boring as fuck to play as.

Attached: 1545483692636.jpg (184x184, 13K)

Yeah, in the 5th century AD.

Rometards need to die at this point

>(((Paradox Interactive)))
It's shit. Hope you like tons of DLC and lots of socially conscious messages promoting womens' rights, user!

No shit there will be an eastern DLC (multiple) and tribal DLCs (multiple)

This is the ultimate paradox style game where everything is stripped out and resold.

>I'm worried about replayability
I'm worried about this too. I can see myself playing Crete, Rhodes, Armenia, Brits and Rome... But that's it.

>It's good, but sorely needs more content.
It's like there's a perfectly good reason for that. I wonder what it could be...

ALL CITIZEN BE AWARE

I want to get into grand strategy games but I'm too much of a brainlet to deep-dive into the "best" games. Will Imperator Rome be a good starting point or am I forever cursed with shit intelligence?

Stellaris used to be the easiest starting point for Grand Strats until they revised the way planets worked. I'd think I:R would be the easiest now.

I started with HoI2 but most people nowadays would start with CK2 and then EU3 or 4 and then HoI and maybe Vicky after that
CK2 I would say is the most accessible

gotta have stuff for the expansions, pal :^)

hoi4 and eu4 are the easiest ones to get into

Then what are the hardest ones?

Attached: 1554513473630.jpg (985x811, 118K)

Probably Vicky2

>Will Imperator Rome be a good starting point
Probably, since you'll get to experience the game growing in complexity when the DLCs releases, as opposed to jumping into something that's already had years of DLC to build it up.

darkest hour

paradox games are best jumped into when they are new and basic and then you grow with them and pay for all the dlc like a good goy. I can't imagine to jump into ck2 now with all the dlc shit enabled and even without dlc there was too much added to the base game

Victoria 2, due to the game's depth and lack of Quality of Life features. The hardest "modern" Grand Strat is probably Crusader Kings 2.

HoI3 and Vicky 2
you can get by into them without know all of the features of how things work but it takes awhile to really learn how to optimize everything

>I can't imagine to jump into ck2 now with all the dlc shit enabled and even without dlc there was too much added to the base game
Imagine jumping into Stellaris after they basically altered every aspect of the game.

>Remember when Strategic Resources were mined, and enable you to build their structures anywhere?
>Remember when planets were tiles?
>Remember when planets had border spheres?
>Remember wormholes?

Unironically: is Stellaris better now or worse? First time I heard of all these changes. Haven't checked in on it for years...

none of them are hard, Victoria 2 probably requires you to pay the most attention

yeah, stellaris is actually their one game outside my above rule. I got burned hard with that one buying into it at release

Outside of meme runs like doing unting Basques and Sardinia and reconquest Europe from Indo-Europeans, I see myself mostly doing Rome, Carthage and Persia.

its still boring as fuck

Steady improvements before peaking with Apocalypse. The economy change is seen as a Bad Thing and sours an otherwise good DLC with Megacorp.

This. It looks good but I can't see myself playing more than a couple of campaigns to try the different governments. The internal threats are a nice touch but I think they will become meaningless once we learn to reliably counter them

Attached: 1543178460202.jpg (640x626, 73K)

hopefully... :)

Attached: redpilled.jpg (2000x1125, 918K)

The game ends before christ so why would there be huns?

I hope they actually make it hard to maintain a huge blob empire. I really like how generals assigned to your armies are an actual threat if they become popular enough with the soldiers, I hope there's a lot more stuff like that which makes it hard to maintain an empire.

Attached: 1519596108276.jpg (1600x1600, 440K)

Well it's a Paradox game so I'll be pirating it to begin with anyway, so I'll find out if it's shit. Caught a bit of a stream of it yesterday though and it looked pretty good.

Attached: 1504641664711.jpg (555x644, 52K)

HoI3 definiately

Vicky 2 is just EU4 with more AE, and a economic simulation you set and forget

>The game ends before christ so why would there be huns?
It's got 500 years.

HoI 3 and Vicky 2, but it's only because they have boatloads of intrincate and opaque mechanics so you can't just figure out how to minmax everything as easily and transparently as in latter titles. But once you learn the weak points of the AI and the mechanics you can exploit them to hell and back.

one of the many things about EU: Rome that pissed me off was that I tried several games as a German tribe trying to civilize and Rome would always expand north and west into Gaul and Germania but usually not expand into the Mediterranean

>Vicky 2 is just EU4

Attached: 1403355175426.jpg (350x390, 30K)

Is 304 BC the start date? I know it’s a Rome game but I’d have liked it to be around 600ish BC so we could do Greco-Persian and Peloponnesian shenanigans

>victoria 2 is hard

Attached: 1554692254348.jpg (607x607, 28K)

>not wanting to create a gross greek iberian empire as one of the stray opm city-states and dab on them romaboos

Attached: 1539017584595.png (264x264, 40K)

>deep-dive

Shut the fuck up.

it's hard to play because it's so boring

Guaranteed they're going to add a 600ish BC start date. Remember, Crusader Kings 2 started at 1066 before they added 867 and 761.

>every vic 2 game
>claim high pop shit
>conquer
>spam units
>build factories
>"this is harde"

>brainlet that can't figure out puddle deep mechanics and calls the game boring

Attached: 1554692066354.jpg (1000x1000, 66K)

design wise no, but Victoria 2 is only a tiny step better than EU4 because every once in while you to open the factory panel and shift click

Just wait for the Alexander's Conquest™ DLC which expands the playable timeline, goyim!

Attached: johan.jpg (683x1024, 107K)

Simply Epic

Attached: 1554864963465.png (1830x3212, 2.95M)

Far better.
It's an actual strategy game now at least, but still not a great one, really.

I want a fall of the empire dlc, Jewhan-senpai!

Attached: 1554686531750.jpg (720x557, 35K)

It will be good
t. Johan

Smug mofo at the end of the trailer. I'm definitely gonna torrent it, seems worth the HDD space.

Attached: 1520627164671.jpg (257x259, 61K)

it's going to be a paradox map painter. There will be a bunch of faff and stats and events that all amount to a hill of beans because all you ACTUALLY do is just get a big blob of numbers and throw it at enemy number blobs until the enemy number blobs run out of numbers and then you make more of the map your color. repeat ad nauseum.

Imagine being butthurt enough to make this

The game looks better than hoi4 desu

It's an anime parody of a /gsg/ joke about how cancerous kids obsess over playing Germany in Vicky2.

>Swedish developer
>not shit
lol

Map painters are unironically fun. Paradox will succumb to community again and make the game tedious a la Stellaris, I'm sure.

>tfw no imouto to play grand strats with

Attached: hard times.jpg (480x317, 38K)

Here for reference

Attached: 1554856981740.png (1008x626, 391K)

It MIGHT be not-shit in three to four years, when it has gotten some expansions that were needed from the beginning.

its shit

Other games might've needed it, but this game seems like a comfy conquest simulator, more shit really not needed.

>conquest simulator
I've yet too see a conquest simulator better than CKII, and CKII isn't good. Or are you one of those people who really like map painting?

I will never understand why reddit sucks vic2s dick so hard

Because the non-functioning economics simulator makes them feel smart.

>I've yet too see a conquest simulator better than CKII, and CKII isn't good
You should've played vanilla EU4 up until it's fourth patch or something. It was top tier comfy conquests.
>Or are you one of those people who really like map painting?
Maybe, I'm certainly not one of those that beg paradox to add tedious shit to hinder players' blobbing

how sjw is it?

>I'm certainly not one of those that beg paradox to add tedious shit to hinder players' blobbing
That's me. It's what I want from a so called "simulator". The alternative is a "painter".

Then you're my enemy.

Yeah, and you mine. I bet you think Casus Belli are stupid and just want unrestricted warfare as well.

rome 2 tier female leaders and generals
trump jokes

>Casus Belli are stupid
No, but I did convert to heresy in earlier CK2 patches for that sweet Holy War cb.

My first campaign will be Rome and then Sparta for my second.

Attached: 1555257709403.jpg (1680x1050, 149K)

Like I said, you just want unrestricted war for minimal effort. Absolutely plebian.
CKII in particular because it's a game that lets you expand with minimal warfare.

hoi3 demands far more attention than vic 2 where you just watch percentage points tick up

heh

>female leaders and generals
You can disable them

Boi?

t. newfag

War declarations the way they're presented in the game are entirely ahistorical and only needed because the AI is so fucking useless

this lmao many eastern slavic people didn't even have written language before christianity

why do i have to disable unhistorical shit in "historical" game?

Because it's 2019
I'm glad we even have the option to turn them off

Attached: 1553954889201.png (600x600, 605K)

It's turned off by default ike in CK2 you dumb nigger

You can't fully turn off women generals in CK2. they'll still command their personal levies. As far as I know, it'll be the same for imperator

>not wanting to take over Spain as Georgia and finally unite the two Iberias

Where does one start with grand strategy??
Are there any other devs besides paradox??

In his defence, starting/joining some weird cult to justify your taking over the entire world is a pretty historical move

>Where does one start with grand strategy??
I'd recommend Europa Universalis IV, Crusader Kings 2 or Stellaris.
>Are there any other devs besides paradox??
Ageod comes to mind, but their titles are primarily autisticall-detailed wargames. Besides Paradox games, Sovereignty: Crown of Kings and Realpolitiks are two titles I'd personally say are worth giving a go, but I also have to mention that they're both kind of lacking in content.

Attached: ded.jpg (1680x1050, 610K)

Thanks

AI War: Fleet Command is a weird as shit but great grand strategy/rts/tower defence hybrid thing.

Does Dominions 5 count? It's a 4x with so much autistic complexity I'd say it wraps around to gs.

If you do end up trying one of Paradox's games make sure to pirate the latest version with all the DLC. Alternatively, if you really want to buy it, you can just buy the base game - Steam copies work with pirated DLCs.
/gsg/ on /vg/ used to have download links for all the latest versions, but I haven't been there in a while, so I can't be certain about how ut us now. Still, I'd recommend checking that out.

>epic mana eu4 reskin
>good
lmao
